  180. commercial sleeve as well -- the entry's in the "working" copy of the
  181. discography that's sitting on my hard drive at the moment, and which I'll be
  182. taking some vacation time to work on in a couple of weeks.  Your copy is very
  183. *slightly* different from mine in that one can't read the last digits of the
  184. matrix numbers on mine; there's the vaguest hint of a "2" on the A-side and a
  185. little cluster of dots you might interpret as a "4" spun 135 degrees to the
  186. right if you've been outside picking out star constellations for a few hours
  187. on the B-side.

  189. I don't think this pressing is particularly unusual, but given the maze of
  190. different releases out there for this single, who can say for sure?

  344. on the CDNow website last night.  I discovered a listing for:
  345. 808 STATE/RE-MIXES + RARE `97

  347. I don't recall seeing this mentioned on this list (although I was 
  348. mysteriously unsubscribed for a couple of months).  Anyway, I ponied 
  349. up the credit card for approx. $31 plus shipping for this.  Anyone have
  350. some information?

  352. Also, last summer when the release of "Don Solaris" was imminent, many
  353. of us in the US convinced ourselves that, although Tommy Boy did not
  354. see fit to release the disc in the US, someone else would be sure to
  355. jump in.  Well, here we are, approaching a year, three UK single
  356. titles, and no US anything.  Comments . . .

  358. Finally, I'm making my long desired first trip to the UK in 10 days,
  359. primarily London.  Any suggestions on record shops would be most

  397.  Hello all.  I thought I would tell everyone that Scott Weaver, Markus
  398. Arnold and I were in Manchester with 808 State over the weekend.  There is
  399. some exciting and not so exciting news.  I'll tell you the first half
  400. which is the good news.  Markus will post the bad news in a day or so.
  401.  
  402.  The good news is that 808 State have definitely left Tommy Boy here in the
  403. US.  They are currently sighning under the US label "Cleopatra" in the US
  404. and Don Solaris "Should" be out here in America with in the next 2 months
  405. or so.  808 are comming to America to finish sighning contracts with this
  406. new label next month.  They seemed to be very excited about this new label
  407. and I think they will do well under it.  I hope!!!  They are also currently
  408. working on a new album and according to Daz, its close to being finished.
  409. Maybe it will come out before the new year.  At least thats what they said.

  493. Consider the sad case of the Information Society, who was supposed to
  494. have an album out on Cleo this summer. The single (Are Friends Electric)
  495. only had 500 copies pressed and now Cleopatra says that the album has
  496. been "put off" for a "while".  Hope this doesn't happen with 808 State. 
  497. (Maybe if they told Cleopatra that their albumwas really a Trance
  498. complilation....)

  516. 808 State have left ZTT / Warners.

  518. Personally I don't think it's so bad; they've been with them for eight years
  519. and I think it's time for change. They were never really happy with the
  520. promotion Warners gave them. As far as I can tell they left on good terms,
  521. because it wasn't publicised at all - it's been kept low-key. The contract
  522. expired and when where asked if they wanted to extend it, they refused. I
  523. think Warners were the problem, not ZTT.
  524. Now the big question is who they are going to sign with. I think it could be
  525. a major again - somebody like Virgin. As far as America goes, well you
  526. already heard that a deal with Cleopatra is in the pipeline. I don't know
  527. the label, but the fact that they have re-issued Kraftwerk must give them
  528. some credit. 
  529. I don't know what's going to happen in Japan, which is probably 808's most
  530. successful market these days. Maybe they'll stay with Warners there?
  531.  
  532. Whatever happens, let's hope 808 get a chance to put out more good music.
  533. They have loads 'on the shelf' which they haven't been able to publish.
  534. Maybe another 'State to State' release is imminent?
  535.  
  536. That doesn't leave many exciting bands on ZTT... let's see what Propaganda do.

  718. OK.  So 808 State, the band that gave the label its rebirth has finally
  719. left.  I can't say that I'm all that surprised.  It's obvious that once
  720. Warners sampled the sales of Seal's release they had to have more.  That
  721. obviously accounts for all of the "pop" stuff ZTT released lately (last
  722. year?) and it also accounts for all of the singing on the new 808 album.

  801. State product has been hard to come by for imports, and Tommy Boy certainly
  802. hasn't done anything to promote 808 State here in the US and have been hit
  803. and miss when it come to reissuing 808 State product.  My question is though,
  804. does Trevor still retain all of the rights to the ZTT stuff or do they get
  805. transferred to the new company in a rights buyout deal?  If they stay at ZTT
  806. everyone knows they will NEVER see the light of day again just as Trevor
  807. "*^@###@" Horn screwed up all of the other remix compliations - i.e. Zance
  808. and the FGTH deal.

  810. At LEAST, Cleopatra seems to be an aggressive record company in trying to
  811. secure licensing for reissuing product.  Maybe we could see the 808 State
  812. back catalogue all over again if they do it right...

  942. A couple of years back when Warners signed ZTT to a world wide deal it
  943. was widely rumoured that they did it mainly to egt Horn as a producer. 
  944. ZTT seems to have become just that, a sort of "imprint" for Horn's
  945. productions and not much more, which is maybe why 808 left (were forced
  946. out?)

  949. get is Seal (not that this is a bad thing).

  1023. Darkness" by Hoodlum Priest.  But ZTT/Warner-UK prevented this plans...!
