The release is the 10th here in the UK. Word is that there are mixes by
CJ Mackintosh on the remix CD.

Thankfully I spotted warning such as yours before I bought the imported

Hello,
I'm new on the list and I want to know what is the upcoming ztt releases.
I know the release of 'Lopez' from 808state, and I think that the new single
from SEXUS is already out.
I think that the single from PUBLIC DEMAND came out 03/02/97.
Is there any other releases scheduled (M.Wasiel told about a REHAB single...)?
Thank you...and sorry for the bad english...

Subject: (ztt) '808 State : Lopez hits Top Twenty'
Date: 03 Feb 1997 13:28:41 +0200
Hi all Zanger's and 808'ers
808 State's 'Lopez' has just debuted at postion # 20 on the UK singles
chart for the WE 08 February 1997. Volatile as these charts are, it may not
be there next week, but a Top 20 placing may just see 'Don Solaris' finally
enter the albums listing. Are we now going to see copies of 'Don Solaris'
and 'Thermo Kings' with the infamous 'Including the Top 20 Hit ...' stickers ?
Despite being masterful musos, 808 State's chart achievements have been
rather erratic. For those who are interested, i've cribbed together a chart
summary of the State's UK successes. (DOE = Date of Entry, PK = Peak Position,
WKS = Weeks on Top 75)
UK Top 75 chartplacings :
TITLE(S) DOE PK WKS
Pacific 18/11/89 10 9
Extended Pleasures of Dance EP 31/11/90 56 1
The Only Rhyme That Bites 02/06/90 10 10
Tunes Splits The Atom 15/09/90 18 7
Cubik/Olympic 10/11/90 10 10
Primary Rhymin' 01/12/90 67 1
In Yer Face 16/02/91 9 6
Ooops 27/04/91 42 3
Lift/Open Your Mind 17/08/91 38 4
Time Bomb/Nimbus 29/08/92 59 1
One In Ten 12/12/92 17 8
Plan 9 30/01/93 50 2
Gimme Shelter (Dance) EP 24/04/93 23 4
10 X 10 26/06/93 67 1
Bombadin 13/08/94 67 1
Bond 96 57 1
Azura 96 80 -
Lopez 08/03/97 20 1+
It's interesting to note that 808 State's last Top 20 hit (One In Ten) was
also a collaboration, more than four years ago.

Hello ZTT'rs
I was surfing the web this morning, and found the following listing
when I searched for "Claudia Brucken"
http://www.esdmm.nl/cdrom/comic02.htm
Unfortunately, the site is in Dutch, which I can't read. Does anyone
know what's up with this? It appears to be a CDrom of comics, with
perhaps a soundtrack of Claudia's tunes?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks;

This is about a CD-ROM dedicated to Comic Strips. Claudia Br=FCcken is also=
a
Comic Strip heroine. She is an homonym of "our" Claudia. No relation :-(
The translation is the following : "Claudia Br=FCcken, a tough police=
thriller
in action ! - With original soundtrack !".
I don't think they used Claudia's music for the soundtrack.

The CD-single came out in Germany on 3rd February (ZEAL 1CD / 0630-17753-2).
It's got the Radio Edit, the Album Version and three CJ mixes on it: CJ's
Cosmack 12", CJ's Cosmack Dub and CJ's Cosmack Instrumental. They're very
housey and very boring, IMHO. (The biggest joke is, the sleeve says 'featuring
CJ Mackintosh's most modern mixes' - and they aren't modern at all; could be
three years old. The album version is still the best.)
BTW, the sleeve is the same as on the USA CD-single.

Joerg

Hi
Just a brief intro - as requested in the FAQ. My name is Tony Kinson -
I live in the UK - and have joined this list as I am an admirer of
Trevor Horn's production skills - and a lifelong FGTH and Propaganda fan
- and I am currently re-fuelling my 80's music memories. Other more
current music faves - no-man (now, if Trevor was to produce them...),
Comsat Angels, Bowie, Bjork and lots more.
Does anyone on this list remember Das Psycho Rangers - one 12" on ZTT
then nothing. I wonder what happened to them?

Subject: (ztt) TWO TRIBES COVER
Date: 09 Feb 1997 18:49:41 +1100 (EST)
It looks like the first major Frankie cover is set to be released here in
Australia. Rupert Murdoch's SuperLeague (a Rugby competition) has adopted
Two tribes as its theme song and has hired a New Zealand singer, Jon
Stevens, to cover it. Stevens is best known in Australia for his frontman
role for a late 80s band called Noiseworks (a cross between INXS and the
Power Station). I've heard part of the new version.. some of the lyrics have
been changed and the bass line is much less prominent - in fact its less
techno, and more pop rock than the original (like the 13 years in between
never happened). It's going to be released as a single in a few weeks.
As Super League is also being played in the UK, France and NZ, I imagine the
single will get an international release. More royalties for Trevor and the
lads, I guess. And since Super league's most notable achievement to date has
been its protracted legal actions against various people I guess it's an
appropriate choice of song :-)

Subject: (ztt) new novecento & 808?
Date: 09 Feb 1997 11:47:51 -0800
I have word of 2 possible new tracks related to ZTT.
In a Sept 1996 issue of an American DJ magazine (I forget the title
now), there is an article which mentions a new NOVECENTO track called
"Leaving Now ('96 Mixes). It specifically mentions that it's from ZTT
UK in the blurb and also mentions that there is a DJ Dado mix (I believe
the guy who gave us the dance version of the X-Files theme). So, if
nothing else, there's probably a promo out for this single. Joerg? :)
Secondly, reading a review of the new David Bowie album (due out here in
the States this Tuesday), I noticed that it mentions that 808 State have
recently done a mix of Bowie's classic "Heroes". It doesn't really
mention that it's on the new album, but why else would they mention it
in the article. I guess I'll know on Tuesday for sure.

Last friday my local music-store sold me a CD of Seal unplugged!!
It is the recording of the Seal unplugged session for MTV. (recorded at

I am pretty sure the master is the original recording since no
sound-drops of commercial breaks can be heard.
Is it old news or should I give more details??

Hereby details of the Seal Unplugged CD.
Seal Unplugged
Recorded at the Brooklyn academy of music
New York on April 9th 1996
It is issued by Moonraker in 1996 and has a moonraker NR: moonraker 148
The bar-code NR starts with 54(01996001487) Italy ?? or phoney
On the CD 10 songs with a total duration of 45.34
1 stone free 3.49
2 prayer for the dying 3.43
3 future love paradise 5.15
4 blues in e 4.45
5 crazy 5.13
6 quicksand 5.22
7 kiss from a rose 4.35
8 violet 5.23
9 deep water 3.17
10 donÆt cry 4.12
The sound quality is very good (except for NR 4, round 2.20 a master-tape
??-disorder. The right channel drops a few seconds)
In my opinion the original MTV-recording and mix are the master of this
CD. I have only the last two songs on video but they were exactly
synchrony with the CD.
The booklet of the CD is a three times folded colour paper (12* 64 cm).
On one side photographs of the concert and the other side is plain black.
I am pretty sure the photoÆs were taken from a television set although no
MTV logo can be seen. Also on the back-cover photoÆs can be seen. The CD
itself is plain grey/black with grey text. Above the middle the title
Seal unplugged.
Here i give a short introduction of myself:
Frits van der Veer (30), living in Zaandam 15 km above Amsterdam, the
Netherlands. I work in Amsterdam at a research lab of Shell.
I joint the ZTT-list over a year ago but this is the first
ôcontributionö. I am interested in everything TCH sniffed on. It is very
difficult for me to get everything since not everything is available in
Holland. Therefore i did put a lot of effort in my local salesperson to
be sure he gets me everything thatÆs available.

A friend of mine found a German promo 12" of Seal's "Fly Like An Eagle":
12": 1997 GE ((ZTT/)Warner: SAM 1996) [generic WEA labels]
A: 7:19 Fly Like An Eagle (CJ's Cosmack 12")
3:49 Fly Like An Eagle (CJ's Cosmack Edit)
B: 8:21 Fly Like An Eagle (CJ's Cosmack Dub)
7:59 Fly Like An Eagle (CJ's Cosmack Vocal Dub)
I assume the playing times aren't verified, but just taken from the label.
Also, I'd expect it to be existing as UK pressing too. (Perhaps that one would
have a picture sleeve?)
Does someone know which versions of the song can be found on the commercial
12" (does it come in a double-sleeve?) and on the cassette?

it's the Graham Massey remix of 'Human NRG' that was on the 'En-Tact' CD, so
it's nothing new unfortunately.
it's just the Shamen's record company compiling loads of singles and remixes to
get back some money after the groups relatively unsuccessful recent albums and
singles...

I collect Propaganda, Act, and Claudia Brucken and am looking to
trade/buy with other collectors.
I am especially interested in a VHS dub of the ZTT Value of Entertainment
performance (from laser disc would be ideal!)
Any more news on the Propaganda reunion rumors from a few months back?

Has anybody seen any copies of the European release of Fly Like an Eagle?
I recently heard that the release was only a rumor. Can anybody verify
this? All I've seen here in the U.S. is the domestic copy of the Warner
single.
Thanks a bunch.
By the way, this is my first post to the list. I'm a student in Chicago
and am particularly interested in Seal.

Subject: (ztt) Anne Dudley
Date: 24 Feb 1997 00:04:32 -0000
Hi ztt fans
My girlfriend has just returned from Ireland with a video about Irish
dances called "Lord of the Dance" (1996).
Now the strange part was the responsible person for the fabulous
orchestration and musical arrangements:
"Anne Dudley".
Can anyone confirm if this Anne Dudley is our beloved ex-ZTT AON artist ?
If so, then Lazlo, entry missing in your disco machinery !
Regards to all
Pedro Lucas (plucas@uebemc.siemens.de)
PS: Thinking about it, she must be. If you'd apply the "Gaelic" style
instead of the "Arabian" style to Songs from the Victorious City, it would
sound exactly as in my video ! Violins, Flute, Shoes beating on the floor,
Great Great GREAT !

Hello!
A friend of mine, Karl Hirschberger, may be able to contact Michael Mertens
from Propaganda and do something like an interview with him.
In case this is really getting on, he'd like to collect questions from you to
ask Michael.
Karl is also on this mailinglist, but a bit short of time at the moment,
that's why I am writing this request.
Please send the questions to him <WSMCHP0170@atormchp.zfe.siemens.de> or to
me and I'll forward to him.
Thank you and many greetings
Joerg

I thought I should tell everyone to check out this real audio sight...
(www.virginradio.co.uk). Yesterday they played Propagands's "Duel". This
is Virgin Radio out of London. They mainly play US music, but sometimes
they play the good stuff!
Cheers, Josh

I'm sure it is; Dudley's done orchestration and string arrangements for plenty
of other artists . . . .
