Subject: (ztt) Esprit Mail Order
Date: 06 Dec 1996 13:33:27 -0800
Has anyone dealt with Esprit Music in the UK? I just got their list of
music and they have a TON of ZTT stuff. They have 100 items of FGTH listed
alone (including the ultra-rare stuff). My thoughts are, if it looks too
good to be true, then it probably is. I can't imagine a place has as much
music as these guys list. Any thoughts? Anyone heard anything abou them?
Thanks.

I've dealt with them for years. They are extremely serious and reliable.
Most of the items listed are in stock.
I don't know how they are working with America but ordering from Europe is
really sure and easy.

I've never dealt with them but I know they have been going for a long time.
It's not the most fancy web site but I believe that is because they have taken
the file that they use for Record Collector magazine and upload it. They have
been running adverts in RC for a long time now and I think that is credibility
in itself.
Regards,
Geoff.

I have also ordered from them several times, and I live in America.
They are also very fast. If you use CC, it takes less than 1-2 weeks
for stock items. Postage is where I get bit and usually have to order 3
or more things at a time to make it worth the cost. It's $6 for the
first item.

Subject: (ztt) Auction
Date: 09 Dec 1996 14:02:05 -0700 (MST)
I'm getting ready to launch a CD auction that includes a few items that
are relevant to these lists -- Jarre's "Rarities" CD, Carlos Peron's
"Impersonator 3", the System 7 "7/7 Expansion" CD5, and the Act and Hoodlum
Priest albums. I'd like to open it to the lists first so I can shake out any
possible problems with the auction server. If you're interested in any of
the items mentioned above or just interested in the auction in general (there
are 26 CDs available), visit:
http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Auctions/cdauction.html
or email lazlo@swcp.com with the subject "cd auction" and the command GET ALL
on a line by itself in the body of the message.

I hold in my hands a lovely new 12" promo of 'Lopez'. Details as follows..
ZTT (SAM 1957)
a. Lopez (Hard On Mix) 6.46 by The Propellerheads
aa. Lopez (Don Solaris original) 4.33
It comes in a beautiful wide-spined sleeve, with a picture of a wish-bone front
and back.
Front - Fig 293: Be careful what you wish for
Back - Fig 294: It may come true
I'm a bit disappointed that it's only got two tracks on it, but I'll live! ;-)
It also came with a press sheet, mentioning that there will also be...
a Brian Eno 'Metaphorically Mix'
an 808 'No Regrets Mix'
Release date: january 27th 1997

Hi Zeals
As I`m browsing my inbox I hear a cover-version of `Kiss From a Rose`.
It`s from John Willams `Play the Movies` and it`s a classic performed
instrumental version. I`ve seen adverts for this compilation on TV and
it`s one of those christmas-creepy-poppy-compilations, but it was actually
pretty beautiful if you like classic guitar and pan flutes.
Marry christmas & a happy new year.

Date: 27 Dec 1996 15:35:07 -0800
808 State
Thermo Kings
WPCR-942 (Japan)
* 7.00 Joyrider - a natural mix by 808state
* 6.14 Balboa - a paranormal mix by 808state
* 5.50 Azura - an ultramarine mix by 808state
* 6.18 Azura - a fiendish mix by Dillinja
6.23 Lopez - a metamorphic mix by Brian Eno (awesome version!)
6.44 Lopez - a direct neural mix by The Propellerheads
5.01 Paradan - a paranoid mix by 808state
5.44 Spanish Marching - a gala mix by 808state
* 4.07 Goa - a pagan mix by 808state
3.21 Pump - a mesmer mix by 808state
* versions from the various "Azura" singles
The cover has a 'morphed' rendition of the rooster image and states:
"808state and mixual partners Brian Eno, Dillinja and The Propellerheads
attack and defend tracks from the album Don Solaris"
and
"The cockeral slowly melted over space and time to hide the fact that he
had nothing to hide"
Inside is a lyric booklet for Azuara, Lopez and Pump
Tray liner is as follows (transparent tray like Don Solaris):
808state : times time : times words : times speed : times zones : times
detail
1. Got that. Then you are ready to take a ride on the rollarcoaster of
808state's mind as it goes clikety clickety clack clackety click wheee!
whoosh!...pfft...aah...coo...crash...
2. Testaments of defiance gratuitous breakings of silence/slightly
scrambled/vivid enough/themselves/so much loveliness.
3. 808state Manchesters smartest, are deliberately sounding out and
shipping rhythm and turning up the volume and turning down the lights
and moving with such hot sneak and vitality through the shadows of the
moment.
4. As hip as fuck as cool as dreams and their unchecked trip through the
spinning decade continues ever so, and what a strong strong trip it's
been and is being today and tomorrow.
5. Their music is beautiful but something cutting lurks behind the
beauty.
6. It's a pleasure, but a churning challenging pleasure. (Swoon and
sweat) their deep dark music is the most appropriate soundtrack to the
electrical nineties and you can't stop feeling as you listen in your own
way to this free styled hyper-pop that something ALIEN may break through
the curious, tense membranes of SENSATION and possess you and changes
you and leaves you all the better.
7. Acceptance of the accidental is a mark of artistic confidence.
8. In our dense world of random chance common sense isn't worth a damn.
9. The production of this album was a mathematical certainty.
10. There is no time like the future.
Back cover:
The thoughts of Don Solaris #207:
Time does not exist for those who are absolutely without anxiety
File under: New roses
An excellent collection even though 1/2 is repeat, and possibly the rest
will be released as Lopez next month. "Paradan" will take a little
getting used to. "Pump" (I haven't ever found the promo of this) was
not what I expected, and not only would it have been out of place on Don
Solaris, but it's out of place on the collection as well. Certainly not
knocking it, but a little over the top compared to the rest. File it
with MC Tunes... My main disappointment was not including some of the
other promo only tracks from the last couple years (Sawnoff Dali, Insane
Lover, etc...) that I haven't found (at a reasonable price). Maybe
those will make it on another Fan-club disc in the future...
