I really like West 4.
On first playing, it sounds a bit like Robert Miles' "Children", but
it's much deeper than that and there's always lots more to discover
on subsequent playings.
Buy it. If you can find it.
Contemptuous and derisive peers beware, for I shall exact bizarre
revenge..........

Hello folks. Just wanted to let you know I have several ZTT items for
sale. You can check it out at my homepage: home.aol.com/wasiel
There are two lists actually. I think most or all of the ZTT stuff is
listed in the New section.
Always looking to trade for ZTT stuff. My page has things I want.
Also willing to trade for any videogame magazines from the early 80s and
any Marvel Masterworks hardcovers that I don't have.
thanks

Hello
Found a special '1995 Australian tour souvenir edition' of Tom Jones' album
"The Lead And How To Swing It". It comes with a bonus Live-CD called "Six
Decades Of Cool". It's 6 tracks recorded in London and includes "Kiss".
But the most interesting part is a bonus track on the actual album-CD. It is
Tom's interpretation of "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" - and is produced by Lenny
Kravitz himself!
Further, I have been told the Frames D.C. album [still called "Fitzcarraldo"?]
has come out at last.
Bye
Joerg
P.S. - regarding "West 4":
I really like The Man From Tooting Mix and the Samples track.
BTW, it didn't remind me of "Children" at all. West 4 is much more a _dance_
track to me. (Children is more like a tearjerker compared to that.)

One of the ZTT tracks from Time Unlimited has surfaced on the brilliant new Orb
Remix Compilation "Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond The Call Of Duty - The Orb
Remix Project".
It's "Men Of Wadodem (Orbital)" - what mix else?! (originally on SAM 780)
-Joerg
P.S.: The double-CD is accompanied by a nice booklet including a great (but
not as complete as Lazlo's) Orb disc/remix-o-graphy - illustrated with
lots of pictures. There's even photos of SAM 780 and SAM 889 in it!!!

Hay everyone, check this out... I found out about a guy named Matt, who
apperantely did a song or too with Brucken. He posted on the net a while
back and this is what he said after someone asked what Claudia's been up
to.. Matt says...

I E-Mailed Matt a week or so ago and he said her album is done, but its just
a question of when Mute is going to release it??? Stupid record labels. I
think people should talk to Matt about this. His E Mail address is...
(matt@amguk.demon.co.uk). Lets get this conversation going!!!

I saw a promo 12" in a shop earlier this week by 'Brain, with Claudia Brucken'.
I'm not certain about the name/label, but it definately _was_ her!
If I see it again, I'll post the details to the list...

Anyone remember that Spirit Feel 18min-epic "Halleluhwah"? Although the album
was on One Little Indian, that particular track (which featured Claudia and
Suzanne) had been licensed from (Nova-)Mute. (And Paul Kendall was somehow
involved with it as well.)
They should rerelease it! Perhaps as a cameo:
Artist - "Wishful"
Title - "Endless Secret" :-) Seriously - it would be cool!
Anyway, if they'd release something new it would be even better!
BTW, that Brain track "I'll Find A Way" wasn't on Mute - and it wasn't with
Suzanne, but therefore with Michael Mertens a/k/a The Brain!
Take care
Joerg

Date: 16 Aug 1996 11:54:54 GMT
As no-one has mentioned this so far, I thought I'd let you know the info on the
two promos doing the rounds at the moment:
*Radio promo CD (1 track)
1996 UK CD5 (ZTT ZANG 84 CDDJ)
Azura: a radio edit by 'Eat Me' (3.51)
Front - Fig 133: Front cover of Azura cddj (fallopian tubes)
Back - Fig 134: Back cover of Azura cddj (microscopic view of a cockerels blood)
CD - Fig 135: The promotion of Azura
Back - The thoughts of Don Solaris #91: 'Let me be the sun and moon for you.'
*12" promo of Azura (SAM 1873)
The covers are the same as on the CD promo, but reversed front/back.
Front states -
Fig 131: Front cover of Azura 12" promo (microscopic view of a cockerels blood)
Back states - Fig 132: Back cover of Azura 12" promo (fallopian tubes).
It has the same thought of Don Solaris of the CD promo.
Tracks are:
a1. Azura: a mix by 808state 5.52
a2. Azura: a mix by Dillinja 6.19
b1. Balboa: a mix by 808state 6.15
b2. Joyrider: a mix by 808state 6.58
The promos say that the release date was July 29th, but the commercial releases
only came out this week (August 12th). I'll let you know the details on
Monday, when I've had a chance to look at them over the weekend.

Got the Art of Silence CD single for West 4.
radio mix man from tooting mix giant (outside?)
there are 2 12", i bought the white vinyl one that has the "crowd control
dub" (excellent!) "chiswick mix" (have not heard yet, sounds promising)
"giant within"
when is the full length due out?
I'd compare this single to the 'below the waste' sound but more pumped up
drums. I was expecting something a little more different than the sound of
this item, but it's still a worthy listen.

Here's the info on the 'Azura' mixes (although I've left the CD1 somewhere
else, so I'll send the info on that tomorrow...)
CD2 (ZANG 84 CD2)
1. Azura (a mix from Don Solaris) 5.47
2. Goa (a mix) 5.47
3. Joyrider (a mix by 808state) 7.02
12" (ZANG 84 T)
a1. Azura (a mix by 808state) 5.52
a2. Azura (a mix by Dillinja) 6.19
b. Balboa (a mix by 808state) 6.15
The 'Dillinja' mix is (IMHO) excellent, on a jungle tip. The new track, 'Goa'
is good too - fairly normal, hard-edged 808-style, but I guarantee you'll think
'Owner of a Lonely Heart' when the melody kicks in....!

Subject: azura singles info...
Date: 20 Aug 1996 00:06:10 -0700
Pick up both CD singles for Azura today at the Virgin Megastore in
Burbank. Here's the details:
(mixed) Azura
CD5: 1996 UK (ZTT ZANG 84 CD1 / 0630-15785-2)
3:51 Azura (a radio edit by Eat Me)
5:52 Azura (a mix by 808 State)
6:19 Azura (a mix by Dillinja)
5:47 Azura (a mix from Don Solaris)
1) edited by Bill Padley for Wise Buddah. 3) remixed and engineered by
Dillinja for NUR.
File under The love thoughts of Don Solaris...
The thoughts of Don Solaris #91: Let me, let me be the sun and moon for
you.
Fig 148: Front cover of (mixed) Azura (fallopian tubes)
Fig 149: Back cover of (mixed) Azura (fallopian tubes)
Fig 150: Here's all I really know in this life
Fig 151: Bodies collide without a moment of emotion
Fig 152: The inner space of Azura
I believe the last version is the Don Solaris version but I didn't have
my copy handy to confirm. The radio edit is good but it's still only an
edit not a new mix). The 808 state mix is cool ... a bit slower than
the normal version. The Dillinja mix is really cool and done in the
drum & bass style (finally!) ... pretty hardcore.
Azura
5:47 Azura (a mix from Don Solaris)
4:09 Goa (a mix) [incorrectly labeled as 5:47]
7:02 Joyrider (a mix by 808 State)
Fig 165: Front cover of Azura (microscopic view of a cockerels blood)
Fig 166: Back cover of Azura (microscopic view of a cockerels blood)
Fig 167: Darkness is creeping up on all our dreams
Fig 168: Freedom lost without innocence
Fig 169: The inner space of Azura
Goa if I'm not mistaken is a new track ... good ... reminds me of
earlier 808 state ... Cubik style bass line but not as hard. The
Joyrider mix is good too ... more drums ... flute added among other
things ... more groove oriented than LP mix ... mellower too.
Overall I have to say I am very pleased with this release. Good mixes
and bonus track. Only wish they would have put it all on one CD instead
of two! I really hope there are more drum & bass style mixes of 808 in
the future as it sounds really good with their music.

Now that I've found it again, here's the info on CD1:
CD1 (ZANG84CD1 )
1. Azura (a radio edit by Eat Me) 3.51
2. Azura (a mix by 808state) 5.52
3. Azura (a mix by Dillinja) 6.19
4. Azura (a mix from Don Solaris) 5.47
So, yes, you do have to by both CDs and the 12" to get all the tracks/mixes.

Hello!
The long announced The Frames DC album "Fitzcarraldo" has come out on ZTT about
two weeks ago. I got it last week - and it's right in the style of the two
singles. Nice guitar-rock with a slight touch of pop. The first half of the
album is produced by Trevor Horn!
Here's the details:
CD: 1996 GE (ZTT/Warner: 0630-15622-2)
3.48 Revelate [Explicit Version]
3.50 Angel At My Table
6.03 Fitzcarraldo
4.29 Evergreen
5.17 In This Boat Together
5.34 Say It To Me Now
3.43 Monument [Album Version]
4.15 Giving It All Away
4.35 Red Chord [Album Version]
4.27 Denounced
5.44 Your Face
1-5: Produced by Trevor Horn.
1: Engineered by Tom Elmhurst (and Steve Fitzmaurice?).
2-5: Engineered by Steve Fitzmaurice.
6-11: Produced by Pete Briquette.
Engineered by Ivan O'Shea, Tom Skerrit.
Mixed by Steve Fitzmaurice.
Written by Glen Hansard, The Frames D.C.
Artists: Paul Brennan(D), Graham Downey(B), Glen Hansard(G,V),
Colm MacConiomaire(violins), David Odlum(G).
BTW - You can find the newest version of the Trevor Horn discography on my
homepage at <http://titan.informatik.uni-bonn.de/~fitzner/tchperf.html>.
Further, in some dance-releases listing I saw an announcement for Klymax "I've
Got A Feeling" ZANG 83 C/T/CD (for 5th August). Does anybody know it?
Keep listening - and writing
Joerg
P.S.: Does someone know if ZTT are still numbering their albums within an
ZTT-internal order? The last I saw was Tom Jones' album being ZTT 13;
which already seemed to be a bit out of order. (Or did they just want
to proove they aren't superstitious?)

"Close (to the Edit)" is an edited version of "Beat Box (Diversion Two)".
The only difference is that Beat Box (Diversion Two) has some extra
repetition in the break.
It's all part of that early ZTT ethos of remixing and re-releasing the
same material in as many formats and versions as possible.

Howdy ZTT people! I just wanted everyone to know about the Japan release
of the new 808 album. I just got it today and I'm a little upset with it.
Its really the same as the UK release. It has too bonus tracks of Bonded
and Chistler, but it doesn't have PUMP. :( I was really looking foward to
PUMP, and there was a rumor that it would be on the JP cd, but it isn't.
It has a lyric incert but as usual, some are incorrect. It has the same
cover as the UK release. The JP doesn't have the hard plastic cover with
the 808 logo on it, it just comes in a clear plastic thin sleeve with a
sticky backing. The only thing I could see a little different, is that the
JP cd has a gold tint to the cd and the UK is more silver. If your a big
808 collector, pick it up, but its not really worth paying the insane price
for something that isn't much different.

My fault, sorry. I'll try to clarify it in future updates. As Mike
points out, "Close (to the edit)" *is* a diversion of Beat Box.

while we're talking about beat box, can someone list the total different
versions?
I know of the diversion one, two, ten (7" mix I think, on the turtle-shaped
"moments in love" single)
and saw a diversion eight on the cassette single
and of course there's the version on INTO BATTLE which has yet to be on CD.
I also heard about a remix/edit done by Justin Strauss or Shep Pettibone from
3-4 years ago.
anyone else know about an 808 state mix of "moments in love" that never saw
the light of day? (apparently completed, but not released?) I have the
ZANCE ztt compilation with that alternate mix on it, and one by dj remix
service MIXXX RITE, but am curious (aside from the DAFT and moments CD
single) what other mixes existed, and if the US 12" (promo only?) had any
different versions.

So, we just have to take the title more literally, I guess - considering
Diversion Two being an 'Edit' of Beat Box! :-)
Isn't that what we all loved about ZTT?

Hallo Joerg!
zurueckgekommen.
Bis bald.
Till

Hi Joerg. This site has a lot of yes bootlegs. A couple might be of
interest to you (and me!) regarding Trevor Horn.
Yes: The Age of Buggles

(1) Into The Lens.
(2) And You And I.
(3) Go To This.

The Car)
(5) We Can Fly From Here.

(9) Roundabout.
Comment:
All tracks were recorded live at Madison Square Garden 1980.9.6,
performed by Downes, Horn, Howe, Squire and White.
Track 3 and 5 were unreleased songs as YES.
Track 4 was performed by Downes, keyboards solo including Buggles'
"Video Killed The Radio Star" and YES' "White Car".

Unreleased studio outtakes from "Big Generator" session.
(1) Love Will Find A Way.
(2) Big Generator.

(13) Distant Thunder.
Comment:
Track 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 are demo and alternate tracks from "Big
Generator".
Track 9,10,11,12 and 13 are demo tracks from JON & VANGELIS in
1986.
Before track 9, there is a short instrumental track, but not on the
track list.
Track 9 "Let's Pretend" is the original JON & VANGELIS version.
Three years later, this song was done over again by ABWH.
Track 13 "Distant Thunder" is not included on this BOOT.
Limited edition of 300 copies from Germany, very expensive price.

*this one important due to the fact that Trevor was eventually removed
from the project. I had heard the album had been completed and then
restarted. It would be interesting to hear this disc if I could ever
find it.
That's all for now!

Hi everyone
The beginning (complaint) and the end (question).
I just got from UK Esprit records, the so called Propaganda
P-Machinery 12" betamix with the "sofa" sleeve.
Great, until I heard it !! Inside, it revealed the original polish mix.
Damn !!!
I Looked in Laslzo Propalist, and gotcha.
I own the USA (12ZTAS12 Island 96835) 12" sofa sleeve record,
not the UK 12XZTAS12 sofa sleeve record...
What a stupid thing to do by the editors, only to confuse
collectors... as if we are not confused enough...
Anyone knows how to differentiate the three 12" P-Machinery versions
(polish, beta, beta wrap-around ) thru listening ?
Anyone have them for sale ?
Bye.
