Does anyone have a copy of the Slave To Rhythm (Grace Jones) album on CD
with the original extended interview / talking bit on it.
This is also an album which has been buggered around with on its release
on cd.
I'm looking to buy a copy if anyone want to part with it let me know.
Any information about where i can get one would be helpful.

I believe that its all to do with the publishing rights for the tracks
ommited. I think they could publish them on vinyl and tape but as cd was
a relatively new format then they had to renegotiate the deal before
they could be released on cd...or maybe not!

I read in this Saturdays Guardian that there is an exhibition to be held
in London about 'Zung Tumb Tuum'. Nothing to do with the label but the
inspiration for the name. The advertising poster for the exhibition
looked frighteningly a lot like the new Art of Noise singles cover.

Exhibitions: Zung Tuumb Tumb
When Futurism was launched by Filippo Marinetti in Italy in 1909, it
spearheaded modern technology as pure art form. Among painting,
sculpture, design, architecture and photography, Marinetti also promoted
the power of typography: "Words in freedom", as he put it. It started
what is today an integral part of our visual culture, particulary
graphic design. "With this typographical revolution," he said, "I mean
to redouble the expressive force of words." Zung Tumb Tumb explores this
revolution through books, magazines, sketches and manifestos, and
includes some fabulous poster designs. Amazing to see how much has
filtered down through the years.

I've got it but am not selling. The discography has details on which version
is which, though, so you can be sure of having the right version if you run
across a used copy.

The new Dream On 12" single sounds great!!! Does anyone know when the
new album is coming out (supposedly someone said that it was supposed to
come out in the spring, but I have no clue since ZTT has been VERY shady
about the details. Hmm, let's see, first the album was supposed to come
out in December 1997, then June 1998, then September 1998; WHAT THE FUCK
IS GOING ON???) ?

P.S. Does anyone have any merchandise from the In Visible Silence tour

This sounds like a reworking of the old "On The Way To Hollywood" bootleg
of a few years back:
CD: 1993 UK (Up And Down Records; n/a)
6:20 bang.../Rage Hard (stamped)
6:28 Relax (discotech remix)
7:33 Warriors of Suburbia (art of mix)
6:09 War (razormaid mix)
11:54 Power Of Love (extended version/original instrumental)
16:32 Megamix
6:39 VSOP: Welcome To The Pleasuredome (dmc remix)
8:44 Two Tribes (hot tracks remix)
[Sound quality is excellent. Tracks listed above are the actual
titles, not the titles that appear on the jewel case.]
["Power Of Love" is labeled "unreleased christmas mix" but in
fact it's the original extended version with the original
instrumental verion (from the B-side of the first PoL 12")
tacked onto the end, and a "merry christmas Frankie fans"
sample in one place. This was probably done by the bootleggers.]
[The "Welcome To The Pleasuredome" remix is of the old VSOP orchestral
cover version, not the FGTH version.]
How's this one sound?

Well, here's an obvious question: Can anyone recommend a place to BUY either
of these bootlegs? A lot of places advertise in the back of the CD
newsletter ICE that they offer "grey-market" items, but I have no idea which
of those places might be trustworthy. Help!
The only Frankie bootleg that I ever have seen (and which I bought
immediately) is "Ultra Rare Trax," a no-label-listed CD that includes:
1) Relax (Warp Mix)
2) Two Tribes (Hibakusha)
3) WTTPD (KZAP edit)
4) Rage Hard (Frankie Bastone Remix)
5) Warriors of the Wasteland (Razormaid Mix)
6) Watching the Wildlife (Condom Mix)
7) Relax (Art of Mix)
8) Frankie Goes to High Bronski (DMC)
9) Frankie Goes to War (DMC Remix)
10) Change of Hard (Rage Hard Remix DMC)
Sound quality is generally very good, although some tracks have what sounds
like vinyl surface noise (as if dubbed from acetates). I found the CD at a
record show several years ago. No idea who the dealer was, unfortunately.

mornin' all.
i have a question to ask you all.
from time to time, i've bought/sold/traded and found records for people on this
list. pretty damn good at it too, imho.
anyway, i lost my job this morning, which mean TWO things:
i. i may dissappear for a while (in a month or so, unless i sort out an ISP at
home), and
ii. i need to find a new job/career quick sharp.
this brings me to my question - DO YOU THINK I SHOULD MAYBE DO MY RECORD
FINDING THING AS A BUSINESS?
i can provide a record-finding service for people, and maybe make a small
commission on what i find....
i can get new releases and send them abroad for less than it would cost to buy
them as imports...
and so on.
what i need to do is see if there's enough interest out there to persuade me to
make the jump, and go it alone, rather than looking for a 'proper' job.
please mail me privately, but only if you REALLY are interested.
thanks.

Here is my guess. There is a pawn on the cover of the single, and in chess,
P is the symbol for the pawn. So the meaning would be that we are all pawns
in a big machinery.
Then again, I could be wrong, and the sleeve is just a coincidence.

Ah, but there's *another* 12" for P:Machinery with a pearl on the cover. So
while I think you're right about the connection between the pawn and the "P"
in the title, I tend to think that the title came first and the objects on
the sleeves came after. I say this, however, without any explanation of what
the title actually means. I've always wondered myself.
