Hey, I think you could be right. I looked at my copy of Yello's 'Flag'
( from 1988) and theres (the well-known) Dieter Meier. I just never made
that connection before.

Just an update.
It seems http://artofsilence.co.uk doesn't exist. Hummmmmmph.

Subject: (ztt) Brain - more detailed
Hi there!
Here's some more info on the release I mentioned earlier.
Discog-Style:
"Lissat & Brain: Dream"
12": 1998 GE (Virgin: 7243 8 95014 6)
A: 7.39 Dream (Extended Cut)
7.37 Dream (Remix Cut)
B: 7.36 Dream (Instrumental Cut)
I haven't got the record yet, but it's supposed to have the original
vocals (mainly Suzanne I think). Also one mix is having nearly the
same beat as the T-Empo mix of p:Machinery...
BTW, you never know, but I think D.A. Meier is supposed to be Dietmar
Andreas Meier (or even Maier or Meyer, don't remember exactly).
Cheers
Joerg

Ooops, I thought it would be delayed a week (to May 4th), not
preferred!
Or do you think your copies might have slipped out through promotional
channels?

Unfortunately, as it was said in the first place, Dream in Colour is only
on promo i.e. it is not widely available to the public at large.
Any idea how UK list members can get these? I have tried the big stores
(like Virgin, HMV) and a few independents but none have heard of it......
Your comments musch appreciated.
BTW the AOSilence web page disappeared a long time ago. Maybe thats why
the address did not work.

It was up for about a year. It started as a very nice looking "coming
soon" site that was developed by former employees of www.obsolete.com,
but then moved elsewhere and was taken over by someone who was not
very good at design and who gave it an extremely amateur feel.
There were a few not-very-interesting sound samples and a tidbit or
two of information about JJ, but it was apparently so underwhelming
that they decided to play it up as "the world's worst website,"
making special note of the very annoying color schemes and jagged
images. It wasn't kept up and eventually the domain disappeared
altogether.
If you go to http://www.swcp.com/~lazlo/ and look at the ZTT
discography (under Lazlo's Discography Machine), you'll probably
see the Art of Silence single that you purchased. There are 3
singles listed (West 4, Giant Above, Teach Me), and an album that
isn't listed for some reason. It's all a far cry from Art of Noise;
JJ's experimenting with the genre known as progressive house,
finding favor in the club scene. All of his releases are UK-only.
A mix of Teach Me can be found in the USA on the Sasha & Digweed DJ
mix CD "Northern Exposure 2 - West Coast Edition." The West Coast has
terrible taste in music, but in the case of this CD it's just a way
of marketing what was a 2-CD set in the UK as separate CDs -- the
music wasn't really picked to appeal to certain regions of the country.
However, I'm not sure it's a coincidence that I, a midwesterner,
found the East Coast edition more worthwhile than the other. :)
(For the geographically challenged: the Midwest is mostly in the
eastern half of the US, starting in Ohio and going due west to
Kansas, and most everything northward.)

Dear everyone,
Thought you'd be interested to know that i've put a heavily-cropped version
of a scan I did from an original print of mine (by Anton Corbijn) up at the
following location:
under the heading 'Music' and 'Propaganda'.
Something for all the Propaganda image collectors out there.
Be aware this is HEAVILY COPYRIGHTED so don't go displaying it in a
public place without the corresponding text (as can be seen underneath my
scan on the web page).
Cheers.

Hey! I too went around the specialist dance music shops but found
nothing. However, I called ZTT and they say that there is a promo around.
BUT it is not the AON. Rather more Sacha and Way Out West. I think she
said that it was a remix (so these days, that probably means contains one
sample of the new work). However, she did stress that there was no new
AON product floating around.
