There's not much I've been able to find. He has rather scattered work
history. He Specifically was the studio engineer for AON. He produced,
engineered & mixed "Life In A Northern Town" and one other track for The
Dream Acadamy. He remixed Billy Idol's "Flesh For Fantasy" in '85. Then,
after '87, I lost track of him. I actually thought he had died due to
someone's speculation on the dialog of "How Rapid is Rapid".
If you look up Art Of Noise on Lycos or Yahoo you will find a Trevor
Horn worship page. On that page is a link to (I think) ASCAP's website.
He is listed as a member with a short bio.
Sorry I can't be more specific.

Hi all
He also produced Hugh Cornwell's "Wired" album - released in 1993,

Subject: (ztt) The Ultimate ZTT CD
Okay. Time for me to state my wish list of ZTT material for CD. I'd love a
multidisc compilation but since that doesn't seem likely (but would be a
welcome surprise!) I'd settle for one CD that contains:
1) Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax (Sex Mix - 16 minutes. amazing!)
2) 808 State/MC Tunes - Dance Yourself To Death (mix from the License To
Thrill soundtrack. amazing!)
3) Grace Jones - Junk Yard (the funkiest ZTT jam of all time. amazing!)
4) Propaganda - Lied (from the Duel double 7")
5) Propaganda - The Lesson (from the Duel double 7")
6) Anne Pigalle - He Stranger (extended) + Stranger (Than Fiction)
7) Propaganda - (beta wraparound of) P:Machinery
8) Propaganda - (echo of ) Frozen Faces
9) Andrew Poppy - The Impossible Net
10) FGTH - WTTP (Fruitness) from XZTAS7.
11) FGHT - Warrior Of The Wasteland (Attack Mix)
Hmmm...I think that's about it. These are some of ZTT's finest moments that
are not available on CD but should be. There might be a few others I'm
forgetting but I can't think of any at the moment.
Of course, I'd love to see all of the cassette singles released on CD. I'd
also love to have the Nasty Rox Inc. album reissued on CD with the original
12". Oh yeah, and Act's Absolutely Immune and Chance 12" issued on CD too.
Thanks for reading!
Mark Wasiel

Anyone heard of an AoN track remixed by Massive Attack? Picked this
quote off rec.music.ambient...:
"The Massive Attack song I have from Art of Noise was a copy of a tape
one of my friends received from one of his friends in Europe. We don't
the tracks name only that is was remixed by Massive Attack - and you can
definitely hear the influence of Massive!!"

Two Tribes (Intermission Remixes) was released on CD Single in Germany in
1994. It includes Legend Mix, Legend Instrumental, Workout Mix, Workout
Instrumental.

I have indeed put together two CDR's of rare FGTH tracks for personal play.
I certainly wouldn't mind sharing it with other fans...

Subject: (ztt) CTIS 28
Hi
Regarding:
CSS: 1987 UK (ZTT; CTIS 28) [20 May; "Cabaret Cassette!"]
9:47 Snobbery and Decay (that's entertainment!)
I don`t know if this is old news. but the version on the CSS is LONGER(!!!)
than the 12" one.
On the 7" there is a 16 sec. violins intro to the song.
On the 12" (12ZTAS28 & 12ZACT28) this intro was cut out (just after the
"money money..." and the silence break- the song begins without this intro).
But(!) on the CSS the intro is there (the last 13 sec of it).
On the end of side 2 only, after the theme edit,
there is a 2 sec digital tune.
Am i the only one to hear it?
Someone can tell me what it is?
So, i guess it`s going to be
CSS: 1987 UK (ZTT; CTIS 28) [20 May; "Cabaret Cassette!"]
10:00 Snobbery and Decay (that's entertainment!) (longer version)
4:07 I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You
3:52 Poison (single remix)
1:40 (theme from) Snobbery And Decay (edit)
(side 2 only)
00:02 (digital tune)
Is that entertaining?
Boaz

I spotted this too...

Well, if it is a rising sequence of notes, it's the XDR test tone, and
it occurs at the start and/or end of a number of ZTT (and other) tapes
that I have.
From (distant) memory, XDR stood for eXtended Dynamic Range, and was
supposed to be a method of making tapes sound better by checking the
sound quality at all stages of manufacturing. The test signal of 10
notes, each an octave apart, was there as a sort of quality check used
in the manufacturing process - if the low or high frequencies were lost,
some of the notes would not be audible.

Subject: (ztt) All Saints
There is a 1/2-lengthy article about this group in the current issue of
Billboard. There is mention of Shaznay Lewis and Melanie Blatt recording
for ZTT in 1994 and 1995 (all singles and no albums, according to the
article). Were these two any good (for those of you who may have heard?)?
- - Just curious.
'Tis so rare I see mention of ZTT - that's what caught my eye as the
pages flew past.
