Try "www.mutelibtech.com/mute/artists.htm#Interpop"
This site has a small listing for the Brain single.
Rumor has it that Propaganda is reforming, but their website
"www.propaganda.de" has no information other than "Propaganda is back"

The discography has the following information:
Frankie Goes To Hollywood: The Remixes
[10 Nov 1995?] box set
3xCD: 1995 JP (Warner Japan; WPCR-461/3)
[remixes and b-sides]
I'd like to know how many (and which) B-sides are included in this
3-CD set. If it's heavy on remixes, without too many B-sides, I
probably won't start looking for it.
Thanks,

I would suggest that you not start looking for it, because it was never
released.

I found this on alt.music.sylvian the other day.
Sylvain can be heard on "P: Machinery" announcing "Propaganda!" after
the opening "power, force. motion, drive..." sequence. He also
contributed some keyboards to the track.
Missed the guys email address though. It was recent so it might still be
there and someone could ask him how he knows this.

Subject: (ztt) Slave To The Bones
Hello!
I have a question about matrix numbers of your 12 IS 206 records!
But hear the story first...
Last week I got one of the strangest ZTT records since a long time. It was a
UK-12" of 'Jones The Rhythm'. The record came in that grey, sparkled ZTT
company-sleeve you might know. The labels look exactly like those of the
corresponding UK-12" for 'Slave To The Rhythm', except that they are printed
completely in b/w (whilst the STTR labels have a bit color on it) - and except
that it correctly [surprise] lists 'Jones The Rhythm' on the A-side and "Slave
To The Rhythm" and "Annihilated Rhythm" on the B-side.
That's all what's different... so the catalog number is the same: 12 IS 206!
For comparison: The STTR-12" had STTR (Blooded) on the A-side and Junkyard
plus Annihilated Rhythm on the B-side (despite being labeled to contain Jones
The Rhythm here).
So I took a look at the actual matrix numbers (obviously a must when dealing
with ZTT): JTR turned out to have A-5U and B-5U; STTR had A-3U and B-1U.
But - with my ZTTish paranoia - this raises the question, if there are more
different versions existing.
DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER MATRIX NUMBER? Or a different combination of A/B
matrixes? (I mean only for the UK release.)
Or is it all A-3U/B-1U?
Here's a round-up of what I have:
12": 1985 UK (ZTT/Island: 12 IS 206 {A-3U}{B-1U}) [ps; colorful labels]
A: 8.26 Slave To The Rhythm (Blooded)
B: 5.17 Junkyard }{'Jones The Rhythm'}
3.37 Annihilated Rhythm }
12": 1985 UK (ZTT/Island: 12 IS 206 {A-5U}{B-5U}) [company-sl; b/w labels]
A: 6.13 0.43 [album intro-speech]
5.30 Jones The Rhythm [(Long Version)]
B: 8.26 Slave To The Rhythm [(Blooded)]
3.37 Annihilated Rhythm
Thanx
Joerg
P.S.: For the matrix numbers I've cut off all the suffixes (like '-1-1-1')
here.

Subject: (ztt) Seal Unplugged / Sound
Yesterday, I accidentally zapped into a Seal Unplugged on MTV Europe (missing
the first 15 minutes).
They were playing a great version of Future Love Paradise at that moment.
I thought to myself: Well, the sound is really good! I thought it was much
better than all of those recent Trevor Horn productions - like Tina Turner or
Rod Stewart (not to talk about Cher). Even Seal's last album seemed a bit
flat, compared to this performance.
(I mean the sound technically - not the unplugged interpretation.)
Of course it's a bit tricky to judge this thru TV, but I am sure I'd also like
the sound from this Unplugged more, if I could compare it directly from CD.
So guess my surprise, when I read in the end credits of the show: "Re-mixed by
Trevor Horn"!
Hope he's mixing the next Seal album as well!
Just a thought
Joerg
P.S.: The band included such names like Chris Bruce, Jamie Muhoberac, Jon
Hassell, Jill Sinclair (! - in the string section), ...
Neither Wendy nor Lisa, though.

Subject: (ztt) seal - fly like an eagle
Here's the info on the Seal track on the Space Jam soundtrack.
Seal - Fly Like An Eagle
Produced by Seal
Engineering and Mixing by Tim Weidner
Additional Production by Rashad Smith
Guitar: Nile Rodgers and Seal
(c) 1996 ZTT
The song is about 5 minutes. I didn't get the time because I was
listening to it at Blockbuster music (those guys will let you listen to
anything!).
I think this track is really good. Good production and sound. The
track does contain samples from the original tune by the Steve Miller
Band in the background. Also, near the end of the song, Seal quotes
part of Crazy "In this world full of people only some get to fly..."
(is that the right lyrics? I'm receiting from memory).
Other than this track the soundtrack is REALLY horrible. A definite
low-point is Chris Rock and Barry White doing a remake of Basketball
Jones--an old Cheech & Chong song.
mark
p.s. single should be released soon as the track is getting a lot of
airplay (at least in Los Angeles).

I think Joerg called the latest TCH productions "flat". I would agree to
an extent, but there are a few gems, like "Whatever you want" and
"Dancing in your dreams". A sign of production prodigy becoming mature,
perhaps, with a resultant loss of energy, innovation, and guts (compare
recent Seal to early AON, Mclaren, Dr. Mabuse)?????

Hello everyone;
I would like to start a thread relating to your favorite CD's of all
time. We all share an interest in ZTT, but unfortunately they do not
produce enough music to keep me happy. I am currently at a period in
time where I can't seem to find any new bands that excite me to the
level that I was used to when I first heard Propaganda, Act, etc.
I am hoping to get people's input regarding their favorites, so that I
can find some bands that I haven't heard yet.
So; my favorite 10 CD's:
1) Act - Laughter, Tears & Rage
2) Claudia Brucken - Love and a Million Other Things
3) Seal - self titled (the first one)
4) Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasuredome
5) Deep Forest - Boheme
6) The Blow Monkeys - Animal Magic
7) Erasure - The Innocents
8) Chucklehead - Big Wet Kiss
9) The Beautiful South - Welcome to
10) Happyhead - Give Happyhead
Thanks;

That's true. Also "Do Something" (B-side from "On Silent Wings") is really
good, IMHO.
But even those new 'gems' can't be compared to such brilliant music of genius,
which he produced back in the early times. This isn't meant as reproach, it's
just a subjective realization.
(Also, 'flat' didn't only apply to some of the songs in general, but
supposedly particularly to the (technical) mixing - in contrast to the mixing
of Seal's Unplugged.)
> A sign of production prodigy becoming mature,
> perhaps, with a resultant loss of energy, innovation, and guts (compare

Yeah, you can hardly find that kind of musical aggressivity and innovativity
(sometimes playful, mostly perfected) in todays work of him anymore.
But I can't imagine the reason to be the growing age itself - at least not
only. I think it's got to be a matter of motivation in the first degree.
Someone once wrote that he read a quote from Trevor Horn saying something
like, he'd rather like working with (reputated) professional musicians in
order to instantly get good results, instead of wasting his time teaching
others to do what he wants; as his own (life)time is getting shorter.
I don't know if that's true - but if it is, I find it rather sad.
It losses a lot of creativity. Also, I think it's short-sighted. I mean,
what's better:
Spending one year making ten mediocre records, or
spending one year making the record of the year?!
I wish he'd read this
Joerg

Subject: RE: (ztt) Who do you listen to??
I'll play this game. Unfortunately for the list I have very little ZTT
entries on my list, but that's more non-ZTT for Mike to explore...
In alphabetical order:
01) Duffy "Duffy"
02) Fatima Mansions "Lost in the Former West"
03) KMFDM "XTORT" (an industry unto themselves)
04) Laibach "Let It Be"
05) Matt Bianco "Samba In Your Casa"
06) Ministry "Psalm 69"
07) Orbital "Orbital 2" (aka The Brown Album)
08) Pizzicato Five "Bossa Nova 2001" (also an industry unto themselves
if you can handle the Japanese import prices!)
09) Squirrel Nut Zippers "The Inevitable". "Hot" is also terrific.
(this band is as fresh and welcome as ZTT was back in the beginning).
10) James Taylor Quartet "Living Underground" (and everything else
they've ever done!).
11) Yello "Zebra" (couldn't pick just 10, Sorry!)
Timeless sounding classics that everyone is familiar with, these just
don't sound old even 10+ years later:
01) Men Without Hats "Rhythm of Youth"
02) Reflex "Politics of Dancing"
03) David Sylvian "Gone To Earth" (cd is missing a few tracks)
04) The The "Soul Mining"
05) Yello "Claro Que Si"
And finally, the singles that'll never die (like most do after a few
years):
01) Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Two Tribes" (every version)
02) Future Sound Of London "My Kingdom" (instant classic)
03) Grid "Swamp Thing" (Southern Comfort Mix)
04) Orbital "The Box" (I'd rank this #1)
05) Seal "Acoustic ep" (all 6 tracks should be included from the session
- - brilliant!).

in the commands above with "ztt".
Back issues are available for anonymous FTP from ftp.xmission.com, in
pub/lists/ztt/archive. These are organized by date.
