Does anyone out there know where to find music by the fusion composer RENNY
LUCIAY I am not positive that is how the name is spelled. Can't find it
anywhere...I heard a review of him and some of his music and it sounds like
Esquivel meets Zorn. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello Zorners--
Could anyone forward the phone # for Tzadek? I am the new Music Director at
KAOS in Olympia, Wa, and *desperately* want to see if the station could
receive radio servicing from Zorn's new lovely domestic label.
I understand that Koch Intl. does some distribution for Tzadek. They do
radio promotion for a number of jazz labels. Do they do the same for Tzadek?
Thank you all so much in advance,
Chris Scofield

Just a precision (which might be not needed :-).
What Zorn discography are you talking about? Bruce Gallanter is
definitely behind the one published in:
* Soundpieces 2: Interviews With American Composers, by Cole Gagne
Interview by Cole Gagne followed by a discography (pp. 507-542)
The Scarecrow Press, 1993 (ISBN 0-8108-2710-7)
As far as mine is concerned (and was first published before the book
went out (I even published one in a French fanzine as early as 1985)), his
involvement is very minimum (he helped me to find at Downtown Music
Gallery two records with Zorn that I knew about but did not have -- hence
the reason why his name is listed). I would have loved to get *serious*
help from him, and as a matter of fact I gave him a copy of mine (disco)
expecting to get a copy of his (and share our knowledge), but it never
happened...

That's the Tzadik releases I mentioned six months ago:
Chamber Masada, the usual 4 + others (enough material for a 2xCD)
Live in Jerusalem
Thanks for the info relative to (I guess) two new DIW Masada releases!

Bruce knows he is talking about.

Has anyone heard any stories behind the CD called "Zohar" by Mystic Fugu
Orchestra (Zorn + Eye)?? Sounds to me like a recording of some very old and
scratchy records. I don't get it.

'Welcome to Dreamland'
does anyone know if this Frith produced record of various 80's underground
japanese pop artists is currently available? Was on French Celluloid label.

Alright...if there are any Zorn/Masada/Naked City/general jazz
enthusiasts in the D.C. area, give me an email please. I'm interested in
playing with and meeting any, and haven't had too much luck so far.

That was probably Bruce at Downtown, and he told me the same thing last
week while we were discussing Masada. Bruce is probably one of the
foremost authorities on Zorn, has been keeping his own discographic
information on him for some time now, knows Zorn and, yes, absolutely has
seen an incredible number of Zorn shows.
Downtown Music Gallery is perhaps the best place anywhere to get Zorn and
downtown NY related material. They do mail-order, for those interested, at
212-473-0043.
