  31. Just wanted to say a big thank you to those of you who so selflessly
  32. passed on the information about how to get this disc.  Without your
  33. assistance, I would have missed my chance; however, yesterday, after
  34. a 2 week turnaround time, my disc arrived -- a nice little treasure.

  55. I'm not in front of my collection at the moment, but I think the name of the
  56. Tenko record that impresses me most is _Slope._  She can also be heard on
  57. various Frith recordings, often in sampled form (I'd heard once that there
  58. was some relationship between the two but I've never had it confirmed).  His
  59. _Technology of Tears_ definitely has some Tenko samples that work really well.

  71. I wholeheartedly agree with Matt that this album is incredible and 
  72. Zorn's notes are entertaining and insightful, although John Zorn claims 
  73. to hate this album and is angry with being involved in it.  He said that 
  74. the person at Warner Bros who put this disc together took the liberty of 
  75. rearranging the compositions, sewing parts of one piece together with 
  76. snippets of others - something Zorn would never tolerate if it were done 
  77. to his own work.  Zorn thinks this guy figured that since Stalling was
  78. dead that "no one would give a fuck about it."
  79.  
  80. But for those of us who didn't spend our Saturday mornings making audio 
  81. tapes of Road Runner cartoons, this disc is a gift from god on high.  Buy 
  82. it now!

  92. was releasing an album called VALIS.  being rather fond of Philip K. 
  93. Dick, I was looking forward to its release.  However, I've come across 
  94. nothing in my searching.  Have any of you folks heard anything about such 
  95. a release?

  106. I have never seen this CD anywhere in France. But I've heard a lot
  107. about it. Is it commonly available in the US ? Is it under John Zorn's
  108. name ?

  110. I'm going to spend a few days in NYC and then LA during the summer. Any
  111. suggestion for good CD stores to go look (other than Tower Records) ???
  112.  
  113. Also, as far as I can remember, C. Stalling composed a lot of music
  114. for animated films. What did Zorn do with it ? Is it a collection of
  115. new interpretations of older musical themes ? Or a jazzier version ?
  116.  
  117. And are there other similar, or related,  projects (related to "cartoon
  118. music" ) by Zorn or other jazz musicians ???
