This was a great band, and I understand Verve has just released a compilation 2 CD. Tony never quite matched his early work, nor was there anything in this genre that matched the energy of Emergency.

I have a copy of Emergency and I agree, it's furious, churning stuff.
The vocals are pretty funny, I like them for their 'cheese' value. Of
course I couldn't be without any of the Miles albums Tony plays on, or
his early Bluenotes, Lifetime and Spring. I haven't heard too many of
his later solo albums but he did turn in a good appearance with John
McLaughlin and Jack Bruce on McLaughlin's 'Electric Guitarist' album.
It's a really funky power trio workout with added 'cheesy' vocals by
all three. As far as anything matching Lifetime's power, well I don't
know if I quite agree, I think the first Mahavishnu album is pretty
scorching but I don't want to start a raving fued about jazz-fusion of
