If you saw Slayer at convention hall, then that explains the poor sound. I
have been to hundreds of concert venues all around the world and I can
honestly say that Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ has the worst sound in
the world. All you can hear is reverb.

I saw Slayer at the Egyptian Room in Indy...sound was awesome. You
could feel the bass drums (I shuddered in pure ecstasy when they tested
the drums). My ears hated the quality of the sound, though. The
ringing finally stopped.

In general, you can assume that whatever you see in the Stockhausen Verlag
catalog that was originally on DGG is the same recording, although not
everything that was on DGG has been reissued. I have a couple of the
original 7 Days lps, and they're all the same as the cds, and all the ones
I didn't have were recorded with the same group during the same period.
The only other recording of the intuitive music that springs to mind is a
recording of Set Sail for the Sun by the Negative Band, although I read
somewhere that the British group Morphogenesis recorded one of the
intuitive pieces but couldn't get the licensing worked out, so they
released it anyway under a separate name (like someone could tell).
Speaking of Morphogenesis, British improv and Stockhausen, has anyone heard
the new EMF set Not Necessarily English Music, which includes the only
release I've ever seen by the improv ensemble Gentle Fire, including Hugh
Davies? Gentle Fire took part in the park music Sternklang, but it's hard
to pick them out of the crowd on that recording. This new set also
includes early recordings of AMM, the Spontaneous Music Orchestra, Parker &
Lytton, etc. Comments appreciated.

Add too, electronic musician Tetsu Inoue, who coded a program that turns blueprints into music, documented on his album _Waterloo Terminal_, part of the Caipirinha label's Architettura Series.

Has anybody read this history of COUM Transmissions? It looks good & I've
always thought reading about Throbbing Gristle more interesting than
hearing them but it's fairly expensive.

That was Punk Jazz, a Jaco Pastorius song, and by no means total crap, nor
was any of the rest of their material.
