  71.    Track 3 from Zorn's sad, latest effort... Does anyone on the list like this song enough to play it twice completely?  I have many Zorn albums, well over 70 in fact (counting Masada, Naked City, Painkiller, etc.)  but I really don't understand a song like this... This is a rare occasion where I feel like I've been ripped off... I used to be a Zorn completist, but not anymore... I suppose I'll just purchase the Zorn albums with interesting musicians that I find appealing in the future...  Comments?

  136. think you're gonna like even 85%, let alone 100.  I wouldn't be so hard on

  398. It reminds me of the music of electronic artists like
  399. Autechre, Gescom, Matmos and the like, except maybe a
  400. bit more free form in nature.  It's not something I
  401. could listen to every day but I find it interesting
  402. and I appreciate his willingness to explore new
  403. possibilities for composition.  I would certainly
  404. encourage him to make more pieces like this because
  405. they will undoubtedly get better and better.  I can't
  406. say that I feel I was ripped off, because I really
  407. enjoy tracks 2 and 4 quite a bit - they alone are
  408. worth the price of admission IMO.  
  409. The whole completist thing is strange to me anyway. 
  410. Seems to me that it often has little to do with
  411. whether the person actually likes all the music he/she
  412. is collecting.  That said, I am, in fact, a Melvins
  413. completist. ;)

  458. but i have to say this recored bores me to tears.  the drone posse
  459. should beat the shit out of lang for this, and let no one think that
  460. ehrlich does anything more than provide long bass clarinet tones,,,,
  461. after his CRI disc, this is a major major disappointment.

  496. agree wholeheartedly. This is perfect ambient and creative music which 
  497. sometimes rocks and folks and whatevers. Don't know about the live 
  498. performances. Is there a consencus on them not being so good ?

  525. source. It was certainly more interesting than the "Bad Hawkwind" track o=
  526. ff

  553. I like it quite a lot. It's pretty far removed from SHJ's other 
  554. releases, which are in the more experimental end of drum 'n bass. In 
  555. fact, there's nothing remotely related to d 'n b on Masses. I hear 
  556. Masses as a set of electronic collages that small groups of 
  557. improvisors play over. It's really beautiful and varied. One track, 
  558. with Roy Campbell on trumpet, sounds like a Miles/Gil Evans piece, 
  559. with swirling, vocal-sounding electronics replacing the Evan's 
  560. Orchestrations. Other pieces sound like a free improvising big band. 
  561. The new "Wire" calls it a total triumph, and I'm inclined to agree.
