Steve, I'm going to agree AND disagree with you on this. I hadn't heard much
PiL prior to this release, which came out while I was working in record
retail. In retrospect, I agree with everything you've said about it in
context with the rest of the PiL catalog. However: at the time, I liked it
loads - it was the best Led Zeppelin album they never made.
Which brings me to a side-note on critical listening. As much as possible
(like when my feeble brain remembers), I try to force myself to listen to
EVERY album as though it was someone's (and not necessarily someone
well-known) FIRST album. It can put an interesting, and often very different,
spin (npi) on things. Discuss?.....
