Just to correct a very critical error on Mr. Nixon' part. Sweetnighter was
created and operated by me, Alan Kayser, and Craig Baylor, from day one. My
half was turned over to Mark Christman when I relocated to Florida. Mr.
Lankin has nothing at all to do with the operations of Sweetnighter
Productions. Quite a bit of hard work goes into this and credit should go
where it belongs. Please check your facts before posting.

Yes, my mistake, as I had always been familiar with Sweetnighter through
the Jazzmatazz website.
I had no intention of snubbing the efforts of Alan Kayser, Craig Baylor
or Mark Christman. Credit SHOULD go where it belongs, as they have done
an admirable job of presenting creative music to the community.

What is Russian jazz LP's catalogue? Do you mean something about
Russian jazz musicians? If so there is a complete Russian jazz
discography which includes all LP's and CD's ever published.

My friend Vladimir Korneev who is an expert in Russian jazz is making
full discography of Russian jazz. One of not the up-to-date variants
is on Jazz in Russia (http://www.jazz.ru/) web sites. It is partly in
Russian I guess. I can contact him if you are interested and he will
give it to you.

Well, I think it is hard to find jazz CD's in St.P. Even in Moscow it
is not so easy. You can surely find whole Boheme Music catalog on
their web site (http://www.boheme.ru/) and also try to find even more
on CD stores like http://www.bolero.com/.
Unfortunately jazz is not popular in Russia so stores are not
interested in it. The only real place to find it off-line is a market
near Gorbunov club in Moscow - the famous Gorbushka.

these guys played the Otomo-curated festival in Wels, Austria which I wrote
about at length here last November. I can't say that I got too much out of
the show at the time, mostly since the rest of the festival was so different
and I used the bulk of the set to get some fresh air and to clear my head.
the crowd loved it, though. it was easily the best attended show of the three
days, and there were numerous encores, which were all greeted with raucous
applause.

Hi
I'm holidaying in Chicago and New York in October. I'd be grateful for any
suggestions for disc shopping and music venues for experimental type
artists. Obviously I already know about The Empty Bottle, The Knit and The
Tonic but I'd like some more ideas.
Offlist replies will be fine.

On CD credits is "Dr. Nelle Karajlic, Vojislav Aralica & Dejan Sparavato"
The band is Zabranjeno Pusenje /No Smoking/ with guest musicians.
Kusturica often performes as a guest on-stage with Zabranjeno Pusenje /e.=

anyone know the story behind this? it's a real shame.
Haunted House at Tonic on Friday were tight, powerful and gripping, as they
always are. three long tracks including a fairly new piece by Suzanne about
Tom Paine's bones, an awesomely deconstructed version of White Rabbit, and
Blue Ghost Blues. Dean Roberts told me later that he thinks they're the best
rock and roll band today, no qualifications, just the best. I'm not sure if
I'd go quite that far, but they're probably my favorite NYC band. see them if
you get a chance.
Dean's band was fine, but nothing special. it was their first show together,
and it was kind of evident. they didn't seem completely together or
comfortable. they'll only get better with time though, and they're playing
again live on WFMU tonight at 7 PM EST (webcast at www.wfmu.org).
