Well, that may differ in different countries, but here in Poland it costs
justs 150 PLN, which is about 35USD. That's not even 6 bucks a piece!
Well, and if the story from the chicago tribune about the condition of the
classical labels is true, our problems may become a little bit less serious
in near future... but of course Tzadik is our biggest enemy ;-)

Hello list,
I was checking out the TZADIK website for future releases, and I noticed
this one:
- -------
Jamie Saft: Sovlanut
Guitars and beats, both electric and acoustic, mixed in dub inform this
dynamic new twist on Radical Jewish Culture. Bringing together ancient
traditions with modern technology, Jamie SaftÆs debut recording deals with
the interaction of Black, Arab and Jewish cultures in his hometown of
Brooklyn, NY. Featuring his longtime collaborators Jim Black and Chris Speed
as well as the Groove CollectiveÆs bassist extraordinaire, Jonathan Maron,
Sovlanut (Tolerance) is a remarkable and original new take on contemporary
club musicùJewish style.

Anyone now who is this guy? Sounds very very interesting. Anyone seen him
live, etc.? It simply seems interesting.

First I heard of him was on two cuts from "Taboo & Exile." (2 of my favorite tracks on the album, BTW). The Tzadik description sounds makes seem worth it to check out, and if the album carries any of the same elements that the T&E tracks had on them, count me in.

He's a really excellent keyboardist. I've never heard his own music, but
I've heard him and played with him in a variety of situations and I can
assure you he's a monster player.

Subject: new Masada live in July!!!!
If everyone already knows this, i apologize. But I was at the Tzadik
web site today and saw the following blurb:
Masada: Live In Sevilla 2000
Beautifully recorded by Sevilla=92s La Tirana
recording unit just two months ago, Masada=92s
concert in Sevilla is a remarkable string of
special moments from beginning to end=97a
perfect balance of mind, heart and balls.
Intense, tender, beautiful, exhilarating, over the top,
featuring plenty of the telepathic group
interaction and attention to detail that has become
Masada=92s trademark and some outrageous solo
excursions by all four members, (including
a show-stopping seven minute drum solo by Joey
Baron), this is a must-have for all fans of
acoustic jazz and one of Masada=92s best concerts
ever.
