Yes, it's the video of the band called Half Japanese.
"The Band That Would Be King" a film by Jeff Feuerzeig.
I have it, and love it...

Does anyone close to Tzadik or John Zorn know the policy for these
releases? It would appear that Zorn records Masada regularly at gigs
even if only on a Walkman as documents of their career.
With no miking for the P.A. at some gigs this would account for the
variation quality. Tzadik then
will release the best gigs regardless of the quality.
I have no argument with this but perhaps the company could explain how
it will work.
Personally, call me old fashioned, but I would like the occasional
picture of the gig and a real
date for when it happened.

David was right. Zorn came to Taipei with Yamatsuka Eye in '95, with
Masada in '96, with Ikue Mori and Mike Patton in '97. In fact, Masada
played five nights here. May 21 to 25.

Does anyone have an opinion on the 2 live Masada cd's as compared to the
"BOOT" "Masada Live" 1994 in NYC with Kenny Wollesen on drums? I like this
NYC recording.

If anybody's interested I've got a tape of this Japanese film with a Zorn
score (though there's not a whole lot of music). However, it's been dubbed
into Cantonese but has Chinese & English subtitles. Despite the lurid
title, it's a pretty stylish psychological story of a married man who gets
caught up in sexual games. E-mail me directly but I will only trade.

Of course there are some pianists using the inside of their instrument,
but I'm not aware of anyone exploring this territory to the extent or
with the creativity of Maroney.
Speaking of Keith Tippett, he played nicely with Mujician this weekend at
Victo. I just got home from all that and can report I.S.O. and the Peter
Brotzmann Tentet as having put on some particularly awesome shows.
Definitely the festival highlights for me. It was also very cool to
finally meet all the big dudes of this list! Some incredibly nice
people...

He's also featured in a newspaper ad for some very expensive Swiss watch
as an indication of its quality. Think if we hand in all eight, we can
get the valuable watch instead?

Yup and he and Mujician --Paul Dummell (ts, bagpipes[!]); Tippett, Paul=20
Rogers (b) and Tony Levin (d) just did a great show at Victoriaville=20
(and I also understand in Toronto), with plenty of prepared piano. An=20
excellent view of it (and them -- plus) is a Cuneiform CD called Bladik wit=
h=20
that group playing in a sextet filled out by Elton Dean (as) and Roswell=20
Rudd (tmb).

Bob Dorough is the guy who originally wrote and sang on most of the =
Schoolhouse Rock stuff. He's the nasally-voice guy who sang Three Is =
the Magic Number, Little Twelvetoes and all those others you remember. =
In addition, the liners to that set say he was a jazz pianist and decent =

So, I imagine that that's how he heard of him. As for Diamanda, dunno.

Ya know, there's always Ferrante & Teicher's early albums...
Also, I've heard Chick Corea play under the lid before.

Dorough is also well known for having recorded with Miles, among others.
