According to an interview in a local magazine, the band has a house over there
where they spend two months every year (at least for the past two) to prepare
new records.

I think I need to step in on this one. As a big MMW fan I say that
'Shack-Man' is the weakest recording of theirs. I was pretty
disappointed in it. I want all of you guys who thought that 'Shack-Man'
to pick up a different album. I think you should get 'Friday Afternoon
In The Universe' because I think it would be the most appealing to the
Zorn fan. It's my favorite by far. If your more of a jazz guy, then
pick up 'Notes From The Underground' on Accurate records. This features
Medeski on piano, and they play much more jazz than funk. There is
another album out called 'It's A Jungle In Here' that features some horn
arrangements and is a transition album (I would say) from 'Notes From
The Underground' to 'Friday Afternoon In The Universe'. Check out their
ofiicial website at http://www.netspace.org/mmw to find more about them.
They really are a great band. Oh Yeah, try to find some live tapes of
theirs because everybody I've heard that thinks MMW's albums suck really
like the live show. They are phenomenal live. Every album is COMPLETELY
different so don't give up yet!!!!!!! If any of you guys that don't like
MMW have any live tapes to trade (of anyone) then let me know and maybe
we can set up a trade for you to hear them live
Zorn content-just picked up Big Gundown and really like it.

According to the latest Tzadik catalog, on the back it lists upcoming
releases and both Filmworks I and VII are listed under the archival
series.

Um, here's the scoop from a pretty good Boredoms web page
(hamp.hampshire.edu/~ngzF92/bo/point.html - if that doesn't work, go to
ubl.com and look up Boredoms and it's called the BO-Point page):
Super Roots 1 was released in the US and Japan
Super Roots 2 was released in Japan only and is apparently out of print
Super Roots 3 was released in Japan only and is apparently still in print
Super Roots 4 hasn't been released yet
Super Roots 5 was released in Japan only and is apparently still in print
Super Roots 6 was released in the US and Japan
As far as getting them, try www.cdeurope.com or www.gemm.com
Hope this helps....

While visiting a friend in California a while bace I spent some time
digging through the Pomona College radio station's record library. The
description written on one of Ribot's albums (presumably written by some
station music processer peson) mentioned in passing that Ribot had been
the guitarist in Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. I was wondering if there
is any truth in this assertion.

I just checked Folkways web site and there wasn't anything there about it,
so I sent them an email. I'll let y'all know what kind of response I get.

whoever wrote this, get back to me personally. You have to hear them
live. They really freak out a lot (and together) then. There are a lot
of group breakouts on 'Friday Afternoon In The Universe' so check it
out, really.
Again, whoever wrote this: get back to me because I want to send you
some tapes. Give me your address.

It's more of a primitive shack in the jungle of Hawaii where Medeski
cooks, Martin paints and Wood gathers firewood. They just chill, make
music and according to their newsletter they once played pure intensity
very loudly in the middle of a huge storm with a tsunami wave coming
right at them. The shack in Hawaii is basically a resting point/home
place where they can relax and do what they want away from everyone.

There are several guitarists who portray Buckethead. Brian Carrol, Shawn
Lane, Vernon Reid, Yngwie Malmsteen, and once in a while Jimmy Page.
The show at the Wetlands in on Wednesday.
Buckethead will be at CBGB's tomorrow (Saturday) night. Earlier today I saw
Marc Ribot walking down the street with a KFC Bucket in his hand... makes you
wonder.
