Subject: (yello) Excess
Date: 09 Jan 2001 13:13:23 +0300 (MSK)
Hi folks,
I have a question. Yesterday I heard a strange DJ remix of You Gotta Say Yes To
Another Excess on our local radio. It had the same lyrics as the original. I
have no idea where is this remix from. I heard all the remixes enumerated in
Jonas Warstad's discographies page. Can you tell me, what the hell is going on?
It appears that some remixes weren't numerated in Jonas Warstad's discographies
page, exist?!

While listening to the new Fatboy Slim CD I began to notice a certain
familiarity with a couple of the songs, Retox and Weapon of Choice both
seem to lean heavily on "Yello" type sounds. I can certainly hear Dieter
singing Retox!
What do you think?

This is more of a plea, than a request.
Coming from a country were you are lucky to find someone who knows of Yello
without mentioning 'Oh Yeah' & Ferris Beulers day off is a tall task indeed,
out local music video TV programs (we have a very good one called Rage -
5+hrs of new & old Friday & Saturday nights) & radio stations simply don't
play it any more, aside from, again, Oh Yeah.
with the exception (that I am aware of) of the aforementioned music video
program, which was kind enough to play Vicious Games last year, we have seen
zero of yello's music videos over here in recent time. It quite frankly
wouldn't surprise me if it was the same world wide.
Basically what I am requesting & pleading for, is the whereabouts of Yello
music video's on the web - or anywhere. I tried to get a copy of, I think
it's called, Essential - the videos (came out when essential did) but have
had no luck. Aside from a few poor quality mpg's and the Squeeze Please mov
(I managed to get the big & small version) I haven't seen much in the way of
Yello on screen.
I'm sure I'm not the only one on the list who is hanging out for high
quality Yello videos. If anyone can help post it to the list. I'm sure it
would be welcome
Shaun

I just found this CD available on Razormaid! It's tempting... Does anyone
already have it? And is it worth it?

I've always thought about doing my own remixing of YELLO with other groups.
And, of course, someone beats me to it :( ;) Except, I was thinking of YELLO
meets Art of Noise, YELLO meets Kraftwerk, YELLO meets. . . . you get the
idea.

Resending . . .
OH YEAH!! (Sorry had to say it ;) ) Same here! I'd LOVE to get my hands on
the REAL videos (Thanks, David John and Barry Lancaster, for the shorts
:) ). I've got an idea (In case Boris and/or Deiter read this). How about
all of the videos released on a DVD?! I just got one and I would love to
burn it out playing all of the greatest videos ever made. In fact, that's
how I found out about YELLO. Ages ago, in 1984-85, on the USA network, there
was a show called Night Flight (One of the best music video shows I ever
saw, BTW) that showed The Evening's Young video. That's the one that got me
hooked on YELLO.
PLEASE! PLEASE! RELEASE THE VIDEOS ON DVD OR EVEN VIDEO TAPE!!!!
(Can't tell I'm too desperate to see The Evening's Young again, can ya ;) )

Well Shaun, I managed to get "Essential Yello" from www.TeleCD.de
back in November 98 at the cost of 19 US dollars (including shipping to the
UK). I guess you know what's on it! If not, let me know and I'll mail you.
It's not the best collection of videos I've seen, but at least you get to
see Boris and Dieter moving about, albeit in stupid costumes sometimes.
I wrote about my disappointment with it back then. How the scope for a
visual feast was there, but nobody came up with the goods!
I'm guilty of not looking around lately to see if anything newer is
available. No doubt we'll find that out from others on this list.
Good luck.
