Hello Jennifer and H,
Nice to see a new addition to the list. I guess we're in a bit of a trough
right now (between albums) and as there are never any live shows the
only other topic seemed to be the various mixes.
But your post has me perplexed. You say "the next day me and my younger
brother" - and yet you sign off with "H"!!! Does this mean your younger
brother is called Jennifer????? Or am I missing something :)
And your punctuation is fine by me! English as she should be spoke!
Very enjoyable post. And do I detect a bit of cockney in there......
.....(Not possible, Guv). Right ho mate! Cor blimey sunshine!!
And yes.....I remember The Tube on Channel 4! Shame that I missed
the Eurotube show though. Probably wasn't concentrating on euro-pop
at the time! More fool me! There again, if the film was anything like
the ones on the "Essential Yello" video, then I didn't miss much. I had a
moan before about how dissappointed I was with Yello's visual performances.
Their music conjours up so many wonderful images in my head that it was
a real let down. Still, perhaps they are doing something about it as
we type! I do hope so. The quality of some music videos today is
outstanding. Surely someone can do their music justice, visually.
BTW, I am guessing you're in New Zealand and don't know the proper
greeting to send you. Presumably it isn't G'Day! Or is it?

What do you think about the rights of this objects ?
I think you have to ask yello or it's label or someone like that, isn't it ?

It's an interesting idea. But perhaps you should use better the "Director"
(Shockwave). So you could put all on a CD-Rom also.

Subject: (yello) New Member's Introduction!
Date: 02 Sep 1999 00:19:06 -0700 (PDT)
Hello ##
My name is Farshid, and I live in California, USA. I am 25 years old, and
study mathematics at school at the graduate level. I'm originally Persian,
but I have been living in the USA for 7 years now. I like Yello's music a
lot, and I have all of their albums; but unfortunately no singles, or any
videos. (Perhaps something to work on here!)
I first found out about Yello from the Remi's "A Funky Yello Page" in the
summer of 98. I was looking at his "Modern Talking", "Silent Circle", and
"Fancy" pages when I saw the link to the Yello's page. Soon enough though,
I figured that eventhough I'd never heard Yello's name, I had heard their
music for a long time, here and there.
Last year this time, I joined the "DBML" (Dieter Bohlen Mailing List) and
I have benefited a lot from it by getting news, hard to find music items,
(The discussion of all the groups from "Euro disco", and "Italo disco" is
allowed on DBML); and also made some friends around the world. My Hope is
that the same happens to me here, on the Yello list!
Best Regards,
## Farshid A.

Quite misleading the description there, or I have missed the
complete live performance video release.
Some video I have contains only fragments of the Live at the Roxy
song performed at Roxy and plenty of Yello video songs.

I guess theres no bids on it because of its PAL format.
This would definately help the chap in the UK who wants to make the interactive

1. Wonder if old Boris has a sample of this, already?

Anyway up, I thought I would instigate a ...

Hello Yello fans.
I am currently putting together a Yello CD,
Regarding the copyright concerns, I will not be putting any of their
album or single material, just rare tracks, remixes, and some of my
own Yello remixes as mp3's. The video's will be small and low quality,
I love Yello, and want some people , including me at one time, who
have not had the chance to hear or see certain material, which I
believe is very good. I have spoken to people who have done similar
projects, particulary Markie Price of petshopboys.net, who produced a
psb interactive CD.
I don't want to cause any fuss over this, just provide, some
collective info on the brilliant duo and their wonderful music.
If you have any arguments for or against, please let me know
as I am half way through this CD.
Thanks
Dan

I always thought it was "Between the bottle (or bottles) and the mirror..."
(certainly seems to fit better with the rest of the song).
However, 'pot roast' is certainly pretty twisted...

Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry it's taken me some time to get around to
replying but I've been bed ridden for the last few days - the perils of
working with small germ ridden life forms, I'm afraid. (I'm a teacher's aide
working in one of Christchurch's primary schools - I'm sorting out their
library (nope, I'm no librarian) and their I.T 'suite' ( ... and nope, I'm
no computer expert) ... how did I get the job ...).
Anyway, I'm no cockney either, I'm afraid, Guv ... even though I've lived in
the East End of London (Limehouse ... just around the corner from where The
Krays did their gruesome 'business'). English by birth (Southampton), to
Welsh parents. Lived in Wales (for about 10 years) ... and Scotland ... for
another 10 years (when to university in the University of Edinburgh ... oooo
...posh) ... and also lived in various exotic locations such as Darmstadt
(near Frankfurt), The Hague, and ... WOLVERHAMPTON!!!!
So there you go, somehow I've landed up with a very non-descript accent (in
other words, pretty much no accent, at all), and therefore despised by both
the landed gentry and the working classes.
Still could be worse, I could be a Scouser!!!!! ('ang on ... 'ang on ...
calm down ...) Only joking ...
As Yello videos go, though, I've only ever seen The Race video ... and that
was only a fleeting glance, so I can't really comment. Seeing any would, I
guess, be an interesting experience. I've heard good and bad things about
them so I'll have to sit on the fence (and it's a pretty damned nice one,
too, Guv) on that one.
Right, I'll have to leave it there for the moment. My bed and named brand
of paracetamol are calling me.
Best wishes for the 13/9/99 (the date the moon gets blasted out of Earth's

Hello Dan,
my argument is FOR:
I understand the copyright concerns, but when it comes to rare and
difficult to get hold of material, the profit of the sale/exchange of
this ONLY goes to person selling, there is no method for royalties or
such to go to the "Yello org".
My opinion, is that if Yello or management were concerned about
getting money for rare items they would make them more available and
get the royalites the normal way. They would not be rare then!
Further, low-q MPEG is NOT CD quality or broadcast quality video. What
you're doing is allowing someone the opportunity to see what otherwise
would not be seen or heard, so I fully agree with what you're doing.
If I want 16 bit or 24 bit audio, I'll have it WITHOUT the compression
and I'll buy the genuine article if it's available.
Keep up the work, and I also have no argument about 'reasonable'
production and distribution fees, creating art out of art.
Regards, Nic

Sorry, folks. Should have mentioned that these 'Twisted Lyrics' of mine are
sometimes known as 'Mis-heard' lyrics (lyrics in tunes mis-heard in an
amusing fashion and strange fashion :) )
I stole 'Twisted Lyric' from a BBC Radio 1 DJ who ran 'Twisted Lyric'
competitions and things in the late eighties (for those in the UK, Mr Bruno
"I've actually met him, he IS as short as he sounds on the radio, and his
real first/christian name IS Kevin" Brookes.)
I'm still very new to this e-mail/mailing list schtick ... so you'll have to
excuse any lapses in what I am reliably formed as 'netiquette' (this is the
future, and you will hate it ...)
If anyone else does come up with a 'twisted' Yello lyric in a similar vein
to what I have already contributed, please join in (I may have missed quite
a few, who knows ...)

Hi yello freaks
The new forthcoming Yello album "Motion Picture" is a little bit slower
as
the last.
It is not a concept-album (pocked universe)!
There is 1 song in the style of new Techno (90'), the rest are songs
in the typical Yello styles ! (Yeah!!!)
Fantastic sounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The song squeeze please is a style near to Pinball cha cha (more Drums,
Brass and
south america styles). Thats Typical Yello !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Yeah

PS. relaise Date of squeeze please 29.September 99

Well look at the subject. As predicted, news probably came on the
jonas "i'm too snooty to be on a list just called yello so i'll set up
my own" list.
but maybe it was the yello-music list, or the yello-releases list, or
it may even have started on the yello-gossip list.
it wasn't this one or i would have seen it, but i get enough spam
without subscribing to 50,000 lists. where was the fuss? who knows.
peoples selfish actions don't half take away ones general enjoyment in
life. those setting up multiple lists expecting multiple subscription
are the ones with their heads under a rock.
when i think about yello now, i always think of this stupid fiasco,
and i've not listened to any yello for some months now. fortunately
i've not had to ensure self hyped bullshit about a personal book, and
with luck i'll miss it completely.
there's a moral in here somewhere... go back under your rocks why
don't you, perhaps i will as well...

Nic, this is not the the YELLO- gossip list. Its losers like yourself that are
trying to turn this into one again. We've had a nice quiet year. Why dont you
start your own Slam JW list and keep your opinions of him there.
Maybe you can call it the PENIS envy list.

So do the rest of. We all get enough spam. We all dont need this kind of SPAM on
this list.
This list is for yello fans who want to talk about yello related news.
Its a free world Nic.Let this issue lie already.
We dont need to bring up all this BS again on the eve of a new yello album.
We've all waited two long years for a new release and we all dont need to be
wasting all of our time argueing about crap like this

The only selfish one here is you Nic.Leave the rest of us alone about JW.
He is not twisting your arm to join his list.
This is a free world and people have the right to make choices.
I stongly suggest you make a choice to start your own list and keep your
slanderous remarks there.

Well! what a nice surprise this is! I've been lurking around on this list
for ages and, except for the Hardfloor mixes (very nice btw), this is the
first new product from those suave Swiss chaps in all that time. Looking
forward to some meaningful discussions...
>The song squeeze please is a style near to Pinball cha cha (more Drums,

Indeed it is, but isn't it ironic that Yello made a departure from that
style and a move toward the more technoey sounds of Pocket Universe (which I
favour to tell the truth) and now their "return" to it will probably get
them accused of jumping onto the currently trendy Latino bandwagon!
Call to Yello fans with minidisc... wanna swop Yello stuff? Mixes etc. Make
a list of wants, mail it to me and I'll send one back or something?
Wish Yello played live, I've had a wonderful year because my other heroes
The Residents played their first UK for 10 years in July.

Here is one Russian joke about it:
"Once upon a time a farmer's cow died. When this farmer's friend has come to
him, he saw this guy crying and asked, "Are you crying because your cow
died?"
The reply was, "No! I'm crying because my neighbour's cow is alive".
Yes, it's just a normal envy. Nothing else.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Sheldon. I couldn't have put it better.
Which is why I waited to see how long it would take for the shit to hit

hallo,
spezifische, eigene, elektronische marke aufdruecken wuerden...
ein fetter groove, der locker mit aelteren hits mithalten kann und
mit dem das duo nachdruecklich eins belegt: yello sind definitiv
zurueck!"
(pressetext)
die single enthaelt folgende mixe des titeltracks:
original radio mix
sounds of life radio mix
sounds of life dub mix
sounds of life club mix
goldkind's different class of brass mix
in der tat ist es ein unverkennbarer yello-track, sehr saubere
klangarbeit und in jeder hinsicht erkennbare sounds und motive.
insofern vielleicht enttaeuschend? mal schaun. to the sea mochte
ich jedenfalls auch erst nicht & finde nach wie vor, dass er nicht
ganz ins album passt.
soviel meine kleine meinung.
viele gruesse,
t.obias

Special High Intensity Training
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
In order to assure the highest levels of quality work and
productivity from employees, it will be our policy to keep all employees
well-trained, through our program of Special High Intensity Training (SHIT).
We are trying to give our employees more SHIT than anyone else.
If you feel that you do not receive your share of SHIT on the
job, please see your manager. You will be immediately placed at the top of
the SHIT list, and our managers are especially skilled at seeing that you
get all the SHIT you can handle.
Employees who do not take their SHIT will be placed in Departmental
Employee Evaluation Programs (DEEP SHIT).
Those who fail to take DEEP SHIT seriously will have to go to Employee
Attitude Training (EAT SHIT). Since your managers took SHIT before they were
promoted, they do not have to do SHIT anymore, because they are full of SHIT
already.
If you are full of SHIT, you may be interested in a job training
others. We can add your name to our Basic Understanding Lecture List (BULL
SHIT). Those who are full of BULL SHIT will get SHIT jobs, and can apply for
promotion to Director of Intensity Programming (DIP SHIT).
If you have any questions, please direct them to our Head Of
Training Special High Intensity Training (HOT SHIT).
Thank you,
Boss In General

Hi,
got this from "the other" yello news list.
There is chapter about the new single on http://www.mercury-records.de/ u=

<news>.
Die Schweizer Soundt=FCftler Dieter Meier und Boris Blank aka Yello haben=
, nachdem
sie mit der Plattenfirma Mercury erneut einen langfristigen Vertrag unter=

Das international renommierte Duo, bekannt geworden mit Titeln wie "The R=

Single-Auskopplung "Squeeze Please". Yello sind definitiv zur=FCck! "Moti=

My rough translation:
The Swisse sound wizzards Dieter Meier and Boris Blank aka Yello have fin=
ished
their work on their new, 10th album "Motion Picture", after having signed=
a new
long term contract with the record company Mercury. The international wel=

elease
the single "Squeeze Please" as a first "before taste" . Yello is back,
definitely! "Motion Picture" will be release on 10/25/99
There is also a link to listen to an excerpt of Squeeze Please in Real Au=

format.
Really! This is just good old Yello sound. Fascinating, it seems that the=
y were
able to return to the old days. Let's wait for the single. Based on the
experience of release dates of the last releases, I got the CD here in Mu=

the day it was announced.

Wow, Jeremy is really squicky! Thank you - we enjoyed the laughter
(guffaw!) and excitement (woowoo!) with the resending of this v-e-r-y old

Thank you for sending this very pertinent post to the Yello, ZTT, Orbital,

Sorry. I didn't know the joke was that old. It was the first time I had read
it. I don't need to hear any fucking sarcasm though. I thought someone would
like it. Obviously you took it too seriously.
My apologies.

Just a comment to your Subject - Babel Fish is actually (also) the name of a

Well, I was wrong. Jonas doesn't subscribe to this list any more.
As Sheldon and I get news from his other list, we'll just have to
copy any relevant posts here (as you did on the last digest, Sheldon).
Unless of course there is someone on this list with the same advanced
information that Jonas seems to get.

Hi fellows,
Why do we always have to have this discussion? Can't the lists co-exist or
does there have to be some kind of race between them. Isn't the most
important thing that the news gets spread so that all Yello freaks knows
about it... Personally I value the news, no matter what list it shows up on :-)

This was sent out yesterday by jonas on his news list.
I hope everyone thats reading this post will make there own desicion
and chose which list suits them best. I personally choose to subcribe
to both of them. As a hardcore YELLO fan, I choose to leave no stone unturned.
I cant really see what the fuss is all about. The Jonas news list is merely
an extention of his detailed and informative YELLO info site.
A site, in my opinion, is the most up to date and accurate disgog on the net.

Hold your horses fellows...
I think to will make up third Yello mailing list. What You think about
that? ;-)
Now we have this "normal" list; anyone can write and read messages. The
second list is that "news" list: You can read but you can't write there
anything.
... my list will be "Yello - irrelevat". Always when You want to write
some crap remember my list. When You are subribed on my list You can
always write there but anyone can't read anything. I will make it
because I'm really boring to read messages full of flames. Is it really
so hard to talk about Yello and let other irrelevant things be? Could we
all Yello fans be friens again, is it too much asked?
And now something about Yello...
I bought two Russian copy CD's, one is titeled "Yello Best" and second
is "Yello Very Best '99". Both records includes tracks which are taken
from albums (no rare tracks)
Inside the cover of CD "Yello Best" is one really weird picture. I
suppose that both Boris and Dieter will be really angry if they can see
it. If You want to look at that picture, You can find it at

Robert,
I have asked the same myself again and again, and it usually ends up
with one or more of the 'both list' brigade hurling flame mail at me,
fortunately for the membership mostly offlist.
Obviously Yello need two lists to enable discussion, and they comprise
of members that fall into two categories. Those who believe there
should be two lists for Yello, and those (like you I assume) who only
see the need for one.
As far as I can make out, thats the only difference of the lists.
Allegedly the other is a news list, but it contains discussion (as
keeps being copied here) but if I had any Yello news, I'd post it
here!
In the words of Yello, you're "blessed and beaten".

For crying out loud.
Just how old are you people on this list? I am 22. Could we all start
acting like adults? I see no problem what so ever with two lists. I agree
with my fellow Finn, Makke: let's all be friends.

Now that I new single is coming out... eventually... I was curious to
know how remixers are chosen to remix songs for singles - do the record
companies choose them or do they volunteer. I can't imagine Yello
choosing them as many of the remixes of Yello songs are hopeless.

Hi,
the new videoclip can be found on http://www.mtvhome.de/extra/yello_fs.html
(click on eyes). Anyway, first I was not able to see the clip, but the sound came
thru. Then I saved the file of the clip, renamed extension to .mov, downloaded
apple quicktime 4. Now I can see and listen.
Check this out, it is funny. Typical old-style yello sound, funny animations,
Dieter's head on girls body is dancing, flying fruits, typical Yello stuff.
I am really waiting for October 25th to come!
Regards
Franz

Hi,
It does, doesn't it? I knew it reminded me of something. Maybe it's the
tinniness of the audio, or something ... but it does sound as if it is a
lost coffee table epic (?) of the early eighties. I hope not.
Anyway for those wishing to hear something more off the new album, there are
THREE snatches including Squeeze Please, and an accompanying video clip (but
you'll have to get them to send it to you) at the MTV site:
www.mtvhome.de/extra/yello/yello_fs.html
I thought that I would emphasise the THREE ... for no apparent reason.

p.s. who really cares whether there is more than one wretched Yello list
when there are people being massacred in East Timor, nuclear disasters in
Japan, and a new Barbra Streisand LP in the shops????

Well, I haven't heard but a brief snippet, but if that's the case, I
wouldn't be surprised, I'd be elated! Yello has been known for the Latin
rhythm <divine>, so even though M.B. is British, it fits the theme...
Can't wait for the new CD!

Can anyone recommend a German or European online merchant who's taking
preorders of MOTION PICTURE? (My experience is that YELLO cds ship to
Europe before the States; is that right?).
Thanks.
