Subject: (slap) upcoming stuff
Date: 08 Feb 2001 10:10:11 -0800 (PST)
Hey all.
Some dates to remember:
the 21st will be our next meeting. Rene's going to
come and do some outreach/training stuff. Please be
here.
March 10- Dancesafe training. I need (don't show this
to phillip!) a list of everyone who is coming, which
should be most of you. If you're not coming, have a
good reason. (Sarah, I know you'll be in Thailand...
:) ) Tyler, if you still want to be in SLAP you MUST
be at this meeting. Email me.
Signups for the next month are as follows:
feb. 10- (luv2k+1) Sadie, Tom, Sarah, Evan. (if
anyone else would like to work this party since it's
so big, let Evan know. Direct all questions about
shifts, location, etc. to him as well.)
feb 17- Sarah, Amanda, Thayne, B, and Rene. Sarah and
Thayne will be working an opening shift for that, but
I'm not sure about other ones.
feb. 24- B, Sarah, Alex, Amanda
*Please* keep this info!! It's also posted in my
office, on the bulletin board at work, and in the SLAP
box, so you don't have an excuse for not knowing.
Does anyone want to volunteer to work at club@ for the
next couple of weeks? I'll be going down there
tomorrow if I can get another person (or two) to staff
with me.
Another note- Ben, will you get in touch with me
ASAP? Thanks.
Lastly- I have everyones cpr certification cards.
Make sure I give them to you at some point, and keep
them on you. We'll be telling promoters that the
majority of us are certified.
That's about it. If you have any questions, comments,
whatever... let me know.
Thanks!
Amanda

Date: 17 Feb 2001 11:03:31 -0800 (PST)
Hey all...
a quick note/reminder- Sarah, Thayne, b, and I are
working the party tonight. We're working the
Radioactive Audio Works (I believe is the name) party,
and that will be held in Park City at Club Creations.
Thayne is working an opening shift, and I'd like to
work one as well cos I've had a sinus infection thing
for the last week or so. I know that Sarah has some
conflicts with that, but if they can be worked out,
I'd really appreciate it. Openers get to be there no
later than 9:30pm.
We are having our next meeting this Wednesday at 630
pm. Please be on time so we can get out of there
quickly. (I want to see who the girls chose as their
final date on Temptation island. *laugh*)
Ben, I'll get a date set up with Luciano on Tuesday.
Sorry it's been nuts; we've had people from the
Lindesmith foundation here and that's been the focus
right now.
That's about it. See you all on Wednesday.

Date: 20 Feb 2001 09:52:25 -0800 (PST)
Hey guys-
It came to my attention that since west's play is this
week, the WHS kids won't be able to come to the
meeting on wednesday. Since that's, like, half of our
group, I'm going to postpone the meeting till next
week. I've got some fairly important things to talk
about and I'd rather not have to repeat myself and
bore the people who came this week.
Secondly- Tyler, will you add the two email addys
included to the mailing list? Thanks.
Lastly- I need a final count to who is coming to the
dancesafe training on the 10th. Please RSVP to me as
soon as possible. Plan on an all day training
starting at about 10 or so. We'll be feeding
everyone.
Thanks, and I'll see you all on the 28th!

Subject: (slap) FOR CHRIS!
Date: 20 Feb 2001 12:45:32 -0700
Chris,
What does that mean? You don't like what DanceSafe has become? That really
seems like a cheap shot you just took at everyone. Including me. And I for
one am deeply offended. If you don't like what DS has become, why not come
and offer some constructive feedback? Why not talk to me? Why not talk to
SLAP?
Posting general messages like the one you just posted mean nothing without
some context. Please, if you have something you want to say, come to a SLAP
meeting or down to my office and we will talk. As far as the 18+ comment is
concerned -- do you have a clue regarding how your criticism may be viewed
within "that community" when you send a two liner dismissing their work?
We have never treated you with anything but respect -- we expect the same
from you. FYI: All our SLAP volunteers, Amanda, and the rest of IHRP staff
continue to put a lot of time, money and energy into promoting a healthier
Dance community. Criticism is always welcome.
And please, no more cryptic postings -- how about a face to face so we can
all hear what's bothering you.
Sincerely,
Luciano Colonna
PS: Your not coming to the training because you "don't like what DC has
become" is quite disappointing. As a "promoter", you should be there to
learn and to give feedback. That's harm reduction. That's what we were
practicing when we offered you a scholarship. We are far from perfect - we
are a work in progress - how about working with us instead of against us?

Everyone needs to see this...
Luciano I have tried to talk to you... Seriously... I have left
voicemails.... I have been working two full time jobs, that end after
Friday and I will find a time to chat next week... I will attempt to
contact you again...
I am sorry about the generalization... but what I meant by what DS has
become isn't all that difficult...
Dancesafe started with great intentions... but as the scene
commercialized so did DS... Which it should not have done in my
opinion... DS should have stayed present... but not have gone public...
The information that DS has put together in my opinion... and yes I
openly admit I use drugs... encourages drug use... The information
makes E out to be good... which may not be the case... DS fails to
mention how little testing E has had... how little testing most drugs
have had... and while they try to do mor etesting, their tests are not
nonbiased... they are swayed slightly by the fact that the majority of
DS members are also users...
One of my biggest problems currently with dancesafe is image has become
more important than information. So the nation may shun a group becasue
they provide factual infromation... there is no need to sugar coat what
you do... Does Errowid or Lyceaum... they have been around for much
longer... and they sugar coat nothing... they provide reports, bookc,
texts... all of this and in a non biased fashion...
I also believe, and I know you are almost if not all aware of this,
that openly handing out info on a substance such as 2CB is very
dangerous... If you are going to provide info on this substance use
your own... not the stuff DS has.... Please... I have tried to get this
point across... Kids are not the brightest... and when they see WOW
another drug... and don't realize how dangerous that patricla substance
is.... problems happen.... Education is important, but if people don't
know about the existence..... most in Utah didn't prior to these
cards.... of a substance... why enlighten them of more illegal drugs...
and yes 2CB is illegal... it depends on what you call it...
Analogues... which 2CB is... ARE ILLEGAL..
I have a lot to say... and I am sick of typing... I will try and make a
meeting sometime soon... depends on my work schedule.... I have nothing
against any of you kids.... And I know you all work very hard... I am
just not happy with DS as a whole... but keep up the good work...
Disregard my comment about the HS student bit... but realize, that my
feelings on HS students and raves are they should rarely be
together.... HS students should not surrond themselves in the drug
filled culture that is the rave scene... just my opinion... but what do
I know...

Chris,
Our message to you is not that you views are wrong (although we may
disagree), is the same message I have been telling you from the first day I
met you:
It's the way that communicate you views that needs work.
Your feedback is very welcome -- please share it with us in a generous and
respectful manner,

I have a lot to say... and I am sick of typing... I will try and make a
meeting sometime soon... depends on my work schedule.... I have nothing
against any of you kids.... And I know you all work very hard... I am
just not happy with DS as a whole... but keep up the good work...
Disregard my comment about the HS student bit... but realize, that my
feelings on HS students and raves are they should rarely be
together.... HS students should not surrond themselves in the drug
filled culture that is the rave scene... just my opinion... but what do
I know...

Yes, We will be working if DanceSafe is able to send us more flyers by
tommorow. I'm planning on calling Amanda at IHRP after school to see if we
got them in. Amanda says Jane said they should be here by tommorow . . but
who knows? I'll send out an email or contact some people if we are working
tommorow. Thanks for being flexible!

Hey all-
just a reminder- sarah, amanda, b, alex, and evan are
working the party tonight. If you don't know the
location give evan or I a call and we'll let you know.
To get in, you'll just have to give the people at the
door your full name and show your badge.
I'd like to open, and I assume Sarah is as well
(sarah, let me know ASAP if this isn't the case).
Openers get to be there no later that 8:30 pm.
As for later on in the week... the meeting is this
wednesday at 6:30pm as usual. Please be on time! We
have a few important things to talk about. Also,
please rsvp for the dancesafe training. I've had ONE
person talk to me (well, besides Evan) and let me know
that he was going to be there for sure. We're down to
two weeks here.
That's about it. See you all next week.
Amanda

Alex and I will be working the closing shift. He wanted me to ride up with
him after the cast party. He should be picking me up at 12:00 and we'll book
it down to the location. See you guys down there!
