  5. Chunky Bath Fizzies

  7.     I love chemical reactions, bath bombs, Alka-Seltzer, it just 
  8. doesn't matter. I don't know if it's those tiny effervescent bubbles 
  9. or the squeals that emit from my daughter as we throw them into the 
  10. tub. Talk about two hopeless bath tub junkies. I have done balls and 
  11. tarts, hearts and even an occasional ghost but, I guess it's my 
  12. simplistic nature (yes, I'm simple) that keeps me making chunks 
  13. instead of something more refined.

  15. Ingredients:

  17. 12 ounces Baking Soda
  18. 6 ounces Citric Acid
  19. 2 ounces Cornstarch
  20.  
  21. 20 drops of Fragrance Oil or Essential Oil
  22. 1.5 ounces Distilled Water in a spray bottle
  23.  
  24. Instructions:
  25.  
  26. Mix dry ingredients together thoroughly. Spritz lightly with water 
  27. and continue to mix, it is vital to the success of this recipe that 
  28. the water portion be added at a very slow pace otherwise it will 
  29. start to fizz. I have had the best results spritzing once or twice 
  30. and then mixing before spritzing again. You can rotate between water 
  31. and color mixture spritzing until you reach the desired range of 
  32. color.  Generally it takes me approximately 1.5 ounces of fluid to 
  33. obtain the consistency needed. You want to add just enough water so 
  34. that the mixture is moist enough to hold itself together. It will 
  35. appear crumbly in the bowl but, if you pick up a handful and squeeze 
  36. it together, it should hold it's form. Next you'll want to press the 
  37. mixture into a jelly roll style pan. Let it harden for about 6-12 
  38. hours and then break it into desired size chunks and package.

  42. This recipe is also great for molding into small shapes.

  44. ***Hint- Adding color to this recipe can be done with ease if it is 
  45. mixed into a small amount of water and spritzed lightly into the dry 
  46. ingredients. Try a .15 cc scoop of the water soluble dyes (Lemon 
  47. Yellow Dry Color is one) and be wowed by how easy it is to color your 
  48. bath fizzies!

  72. Subject: (sage-news) Soap Swaps Are Back On!

  75. Greetings Cyber Friends-
  76.  
  77. I have finally got my act together and I've really  been excited to 
  78. get the MMS soap swaps rolling again.  Lynsey ( our shipping diva) 
  79. has agreed to be my partner in crime so they'll be two of us working 
  80. on these boxes.  I'm hoping that this will allow me to get the boxes 
  81. back to each of you much faster.  Keep your fingers crossed...

  83. The specific's will basically be the same as with the old swaps.  We 
  84. will have a new theme for each month and the boxes will be due by the 
  85. 25th of that month.  I'm not going to put a limit on the participants 
  86. but you will see some recipes in the booklet that you will not 
  87. receive soaps from.  Each person will need to send in eight bars of 
  88. soap and they will receive eight bars of soap in return.  In the past 
  89. I have had people calling me upset that they didn't get a soap from 
  90. each person in the booklet.  Just wanted to clarify this so everyone 
  91. understands.  We will pick a winner from each group of eight and they 
  92. will receive a $15 gift certificate at MMS.  It's been decided that 
  93. we will also give honorable  mentions, we have have so many great 
  94. soaps we just have to brag about them.

  96. Here's a brief run down of how things will be handled.  If you want 
  97. to participate please send me  info as follows at steph@the-sage.com. 
  98. Once I receive this you will be sent a confirmation message.  Just 
  99. send the confirmation back to me, all you need to do is hit the reply 
  100. button and it will be official.  Once you have your recipe finalized 
  101. please E-MAIL me a copy or you won't be included in the recipe 
  102. booklet.  I need these as soon as possible so I can start to layout 
  103. the booklet.  I'll do this before your soaps even arrive.

  117. April-  " Spring Scentsations"  This one will allow everyone to 
  118. incorporate their idea of what spring is all about into a bar of 
  119. soap.  Get your creative juices movin!

  121. May-  " A Floral Inferno"  Since May is the time of year when all the 
  122. flowers begin to wake up around here, we thought it only seemed 
  123. fitting.
