Hi all,
My DH sent this to me, thought you all might enjoy it too.
A university creative writing class was asked to write a concise
essay containing these four elements:
- religion

The prize-winning essay read:
"My God," said the Queen. "I'm pregnant. I wonder who did it?"

From: Sandy Lemons <slemons@iamerica.net>
Subject: RS: RAK'd by Sandra Luck!!!
Greetings!
I got a BIG surprise this week..my second only RAK!! I was SO
surprised..and thoroughly delighted!!
Sandra sent an oversize postcard..on mat board I think..it's very sturdy
and I' going to do the same, it held up in the mail beautifully.
It's black with a very light spritz of some sliver and some gold webbing
spray. The lightness of the spray is another thing I'm going to steal <G>.
In the center, stamped at an angle in sliver are three southwestern
pots...very effective on the black card stock. The cutest gecko is under
the pots, embossed in what I think might be Turquoise Tapestry. Four
wooden beads in muted colors follow the visual line set by the angled
pots..very creative. To finish it off there is a sliver dollar size gold
plastic coin under the pots. For a fleeting moment when I got the card, I
hoped it would be one of those chocolate coins <G>..but on the other hand,
I would have eaten it and ruined the effect of the card <LOL>.
Thanks, Sandra. I've either been terribly busy or sick this week, so it was
a great pick me up! And anyone who has a cockatiel is just okay in my book!
Blessings,
Sandy and Sydney and Melbourne the Cockatiels!

Just rename it and put a disclaimer at the top and bottom, that
these are internet vendors, and that you have no personal
experience with them.
The list is so well done, we do need the information.

From: shiloh5@webtv.net
Subject: RS: Wordprint swap - DENI Sandy Val chelle participants
I was utterly amazed at the quality of these stamps. They were all
wonderful and gave me terrific ideas. Before I was just sitting looking
at wordprints - I knew they were good for something but couldn't get my
mind together.
Thanks so much to Cindy for hosting this incredible swap!!!!
Now on with the description and I know I won't do them justice. I was
lucky enough to receive one of Cindy's - purple card stock ontop
layered black and the love print was stamped with clear and holographis
EP with a neat purple and black butterfly 3D'd in the corner. Inside a
verse on velum saying "LOVE is like a butterfy It goes wherever it
pleases....and t pleases wherever it goes. Great effect.
Then Sandy Wisnesky did I think a type of ornament with a pullstring and
it comes up into a spiral - she used the floral wordpring. I wonder how
she got it to spiral? It is all done in a circle
Val Kildaw use flower wordprint where the saying goes inside and it is
orange the front and back of card is dark blue. The front is cut out in
a square to read the wordpring through and a large sunflower is 3D'd in
one corner and its stem is 3d'd in opposite corner and it is done o the
reverse of the card stock Orange on outside over the blue. Unique use of
two sided cardstock.
Chelle@ziplink used glossy cardstock and stamped randomly a daisy like
flower then on top of that is dark brown card stock and then layered is
glossy cardstock with Thanks wordpring stamped in green with colored
flowers amongst the words and 3D'd on top of this is the first daisy
like flower on the brown cardstock and EP with silver. Excellent work
Last but not lease is DENI's card on mustard cardstock and the flower
wordpring is stmped on with darkbrown. The word "SUNFLOWER" is stamped
on the edge and a large sunflower is 3D'd complete with green leaves and
some tan straw like raffia.
All were neatly done and very well put together. It was a joy to be in
this. Thanks again to all who participated and made this a success

Hi Kaye,
Maybe I'm dense but I don't get it. If someone purchases items at a
regular price and then returns them when a sale is on, doesn't she get
refunded the same amount as what she spent. Does she take these items
back and after getting the refund say, "I want to re-purchase them now at
the sale price."
Just a confused

Hello everybody,
I received the bag o' rubber in the mail today. I will be flying down south
in a couple hours (look out RS stores in Riverside and San Diego!! I'll be
hunting you down!!) and I will not have time to sort through it until monday
(well, ok, I did sneak a peek). I will mail out the rubber back to Elsa Lee
on Tuesday. And Elsa, since we're practically neighbors, you should receive
the package before the end of next week, AND thanks so much for hosting this
swap!!
Have a great weekend everybody!

I always get a.. near perfect fold by layin' the card out on my papercutter
as if I was gonna cut it where I wanna fold it, runnin' my thumb along the
ledge there to score, then lining the one end up on the paper guide, fold
the other end over so it buts up well and just.. um.. mooshing it down and
smoothing it again with my thumb..

I never heard of not being able to glue stamps to envies--in fact our PO
counter people often glue my stamps on when I buy them there and they don't
have enough glue of their own to stick to anything. I believe it is just tape
they get hot about. Anyone else have trouble using glue??? Mona

I have to make some pins out of Sculpy clay by Monday night (in other words,
Sat or Sun), but have never done it before. I saw it demoed in June when I
bought the stuff, but can't remember how to do it. I have colored clay and
want to stamp in it (possibly with metallic ink??) and then maybe color it
somehow with markers (??) and maybe use some of those gilding paints (??)
that I bought the same day and also forgot what to do with them. Can someone
shoot me (some quick directions!) please? Mucho gracias. Mona

first, you are hilarious! Thanks for a good chuckle.
Second, no reason to be embarrassed. As several on this list who had to
answer the same questions over and over and over and....well, you get the
picture! We're all newbies at some stuff. The difference between a real
newbie and an experienced newbie is how many things we're new at.....

Subject: RS: Re: Re: Best Scissors to cut detail...
> You *cannot* be talking about a KAI scissors ....
um.. well.. I dunno.. I think I am.. from sheryl.. black plastic loopy
handles, like the handles on my gardening scissors, only plastic and not
such big loops.. say KAI on the blade?
they just don't fit my hand well. I couldn't use them for cutting detailed
stuff.. not pointy enough for the detail, not comfy enough for sitting on
my hand over the long term.
I got big hands, and they're small bit arthritic to boot.. Not huge fat
hands, but.. I got big feet.. 9.5's if I can find 'em? and I got hands in
proportion to my feet.. and my fingers just don't fit in these scissors
very well or comfortably.
which isn't to say I'm not thrilled to have 'em. I bought 'em to cut
rubber.. and they cut rubber very very well! plenty sharp, and pretty
effortless.. just what I need for that. and.. I don't think I'd wanna use
my rubber cutting scissors to cut paper, any more than I'd wanna use my
sewing scissors (on the off chance I decide to sew) to cut paper.. or
rubber, for that matter.. would I? If I do, then I need a different pair
of kais.. one with roomier or squishier or even less bulky handles, and
pointier slimmer blades.. or something. something more comfortable. I
like my little fiskars fine for paper though.. they work pretty well.. and
they're comfy enough.

Subject: RS: New Store in Redmond, WA: Rubber Soul!
Hello Everyone,
I went to the new Redmond Town Center today (Friday 9/19), to the
opening of the new stamp store: RUBBER SOUL. (There is another Rubber
Soul store in Poulsbo, WA.)
Their hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 - 8:00pm and
Sunday from 11:00-6:00pm. The address is 16444 NE 74th St. Redmond, WA
98052. The phone number is (425) 882-3333.
They are located across from the Starbuck's, just inside from the
"Central Parking" garage. You don't even get wet when it does that
drippy thing this area is so famous for! ;)
They carry over 100 companies and their own line of stamps. They
also have a selection of handmade papers, books, pens, inks, and other
supplies. I also noticed they were starting to put out a few
scrapbooking supplies. They haven't completed putting out all their
inventory...the store smells so NEW...you know, that smell of new wood
and lots-o-new-rubber! I'm sure they will be stocking the shelves with
the initial inventory for a while (I saw lots of boxes in the back), so
visit often and check out the changes.
They'll also be having classes at the store...yea!!!! Right now
they have a couple of openings for a Fred Mullet class and some for a
DeNami class. Call them if you're interested...I don't know the dates
and times (I know they're $20/class) since they weren't something I was
interested in right now.
The new class schedule will be coming out soon. I'm so glad I'll
only have to drive less than 4 miles to get there....I hate the traffic
and prefer to have "stamping rage" instead of "road rage"! ;)
I am thrilled that we have another dedicated stamp store in this
area. (I've already counseled them on the necessity of a wizard and
fantasy section...they promised they'd work on it!)
PLEASE, if you're in the area, try to visit Rubber Soul in the
Redmond Town Center. There sure are enough of us around to keep
everyone afloat with all our $$$.
This is a very personal plea. I have no affiliation with the
company or any of it's employees. I will not receive a thing for this
announcement. I just like to have choices, and I want Rubber Soul in
Redmond to be successful so my selfish desires are fulfilled!!!!! ;)
Thanks for listening...see you there,
Kathleen

Subject: RS: Coffee Swap received
I'm a bit late posting this, but I received my cards from the Coffee
Swap.
Thanks Heather, for hosting this!!!
My descriptions are poor, but here it goes:
Pam Black did an adorable card with the House Mouse stamp of two mice
pearing into a coffee cup which was stamped and colored on cardstock,
trimmed and attached to a yellow card with coffee cups and beans
decorating it. Adorable!!!
Karan Thompson did a crd that was striking in its simplicity, using a
black card, then a laying of white paper stamped at each corner with
beans, then single faced corrugated square on top of that, then another
smaller white sqaure with a coffee cup in it. The Envelope was also
decoated with beans, and the inside of the card stamped with "How have
you bean?".
Jessica Lingam used the coffee rollograph wheel for background on a very
light brown/cream card, then layered dark single faced corrugated on it
with white deckled paper on top of it with a coffee cup beautifully
colored.
Susan Uncle's post card reminded me of coffee at my grandmothers, with
it's red and white check background and the stamps of coffee cups, a
basket of muffins and bag of coffee placed on it!
Susan Lanctot"s used coffee cups, bags of coffee, a basket of muffins and
"Let's have coffee on the front. "lets have coffee" and the muffins
were cut out and mounted on single faced corrugated in the center of the
card, with the other images stamped around this as a border. Very nice!!
The inside of the card reads, "'Bean' missing our talks a 'latte'".
They were all so wonderful!!! Put my poor cards to shame!!!!
