Connie,
I live in Southern Calif. (about a half hour drive SE of San
Bernardino). I start weeding and cleaning the garden area in February.
It gives me time to put compost or other additives in the soil. I start
the actual planting late February/early March. Then I plant again in
April and May. That way we have fresh veggies from the garden starting
Mid-May at the latest and it continues up until late Sept./early October.
The lettuce, potatoes, broccolli, and other plants we grow during winter
months are planted from late August - Sept. Each summer I am able to
freeze or can most of the vegetables the family eats all winter. During
the summer, we just pick the vegetables as we need them. Our vegetable
garden is about 1/2 acre square in size. In the fall, I freeze (or
can-depending on how busy I am) my own apple pie fillings. I use that
for making homemade "Hostess" fruit pies for my hubby & the kids'
lunches. They like to use the pie filling as a topping on ice cream or
shortbread.
Oh well. Maybe I will just have to start the seeds in flats and
transplant them this year. That I can do.

I once put red food coloring in the milk in an apartment I was living in
with some roommates, on Purim, a Jewish holiday when you do all sorts of
silly stuff (not quite like April Fool's, but along those lines). I did it
before everyone woke up, and then I left to go to synagogue earlier than
anyone else. I was told later that thet threw the milk out, because they
thought I had put Pepto Bismol in it! So the next year, I used blue food
coloring! (Different roommates; they didn't suspect a thing!)

Why not just make your own? BTW, the USPS has a web page with all sorts of
postage info. I'm sure you can find out all sorts of dimensions and the
like there. Don't have the address, but you should be able to find it
easily with any search engine (is that the right term? I only pretend to
know how this computer stuff works!)

forgot to mention, they have a feature on their webpage where you plug in
your zip code, the destination zip code, and the weight of the
letter/package. It will tell you how much postage you need to slap on it.
Pretty cool. :) This should really come in handy for swap hostesses and
SSS senders. I am going to buy a postal scale so I don't have to wait in
line to mail stuff anymore. http://www.usps.gov
to get to this feature click on "Interactive Services" at the bottom of

Subject: Michele's SS package arrived
My SS package arrived Tuesday! I am having major problems with my internet
provider. I have not been able to access my Email or connect to the
internet or the list for three weeks. It just got fixed yesterday. I
apologize for not posting this message sooner. I wrote you a letter, and
sent it to Janet, to forward to you. You should get it soon.
Thank You so much for the wonderful package you sent. I have wanted the
Dee Gruenig book for the longest time. I was so thrilled to get it. It is
the best book!
It's going to keep me busy trying out all the new ideas.
The heart shaped cards, the envelopes, the embossing powders and ink all
came at a perfect time. I am right in the middle of making my Valentines,
to send out.
Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday (I collect heart stamps), so I've
already put them all to good use. Thank you so much! I had so much fun
opening everything,
and I'm having even more fun playing with everything.
The note you sent, got wet, I think. The ink on the front and back, and
parts of the inside, all ran together. But I answered all the questions I
could read on the inside, in the letter I sent you. If you need to know
anything else, I'll be filing a "Wish List" with Tracey Carr, sometime this
week.
Thank You again for your thoughtfulness. I am looking forward to hearing
from you again, and eventually finding out who you are. This is SUCH
FUN!!!
Love,
