She is more afraid of finding out about her alien side than Max is I think. It is nice to see the writers give Katie something to chew on in terms of her character. I think I like the pairing of Michael and Maria but I still see it as brother and sister. Just don't see the "love" between them yet...wonder what they will do and how it will affect all. It is nice to see a role reversal with Max and Michael. Max was thinking with his head when he was leading with the group, now you see Michael thinking with his heart and passion. Max is slowly realizing that maybe Michael is right in order to learn what they need to about themselves. Unlock the secrets of their existence at whatever the cost. 2) Tess: Okay I again hate to say it but I really am having a difficult time feeling anything for this character and in this case, I do blame the actress. I'm sure Emilie is a great person but she just isn't doing it for me. I also had many issues with the big revelatory scene with Max and Tess at the jeep. I felt nothing. Tess speaks of Nasedo not having a human side and yet the acting was so stilted that it seemed that neither did Tess. In the hands of a better actress, I would feel she was a threat to Max and Liz. I would also feel for her and sympathize with her situation Couldn't agree more. I think it is the acting. Sorry Emilie but I don't think this is the role for you. I feel nothing for Tess or what she stands for. She is just flat. Just saying the lines, no feeling. She would be great if she was suppose to be more like Nasedo, but that isn't her character. I am kind of bummed about the choice of actress...this is a pivotal role and isn't pivotal. No empathy here for her either, Gina. 3) Michael and Maria: I am really more concerned for this couple than I am for Max and Liz. As Max and Tess have more scenes together, and their lack of chemistry becomes more evident, I feel even more strongly that Liz and Max are soulmates. Michael and Maria on the other hand have me wondering. I really like Isabel so for me, she is a legitimate contender for Michael's heart. Then again, that doesn't make it any easier for me to see Michael be so cruel to Maria. "Our stupid relationship" Oh that was wrong in so many ways. I think the consequences here will have a greater impact on the group of 6 than anything that Max/Liz will do. The dynamic seems to rotate around these two because they do react with their emotions and passions and not their minds. They don't think about what they are going to say or do, they just do it because it feels right, to hell with what happens, and hell does happen. 7) The Carnival Scenes: Though I thought the mirror fun house scenes went on a minute or two too long, I really enjoyed the symbolism behind it. The distortion of the reflections. The not knowing who anyone really is. The inability to trust anyone anymore. It was great. I also thought it was quite a moving scene to see Liz and Max touch hands through the glass. It was like their worst nightmares come true.(though it looks like next week's episode is going to be even worse) Being so close and yet so far. Wanting to be together but having a barrier, no matter how transparent, come between them. Max isolated from Liz because of "who he is" It was brilliant. It did seem a bit long. I like the scene through glass a lot.... Ahhhh the chasm between the young lovers...good symbolism. My hair was on end during that scene wondering what turn would show what...nice editing. I thought it interesting that Valenti didn't do more to help Max when he was captured. He has always stated that he wants to help him but wonder why he didn't do more. Was he unsure what he was seeing?...seeing 2 of Max and the disbelief of what he saw? Maybe someone can explain that to me. 8) Jason's acting: This is the part where I gush. I really thought he was amazing again tonight. Jason has the most expressive eyes I have ever seen and tonight was a perfect example of that. I could tell during the carnival scenes which Max was which just from the softness in his eyes(the real Max) or the coldness in them(Nasedo Max). Once again, another stellar performance from JB Kudos to Jason!! Nasedo/Max was very scary indeed. Jason does such good evil!! What a shock and horror for Liz to be looking for the warm and fuzzy when she kissed Max and she got evil and death. Couldn't agree more on the eyes. I new exactly who I was looking at based on his eyes. Endless darkness for Nasedo and soft, open, I will help you for Max. Wow. Can't WAIT to see Rites of Passage. So nice to see other sides of Jason. 9) That horrifying ending and its implications: I was literally crying along with Liz when she broke down and said that "they have Max." This is the culmination of 20 episodes of hiding and pretending that the aliens were "untouchable." This is what they have been afraid of all of their lives and it's finally happening. When Jason squatted down to the ground and wrapped his arms around himself...I was just so moved. I can only imagine what is going to happen to Max next week. Pierce has finally gotten the alien he wanted. Next week is going to be so difficult to watch. Can't WAIT for next week either. Seeing Max almost breaking hurt. Seeing him break next week will be horrible!! The shear terror of all that they have been hiding from is beginning to materialize. Their worst fears are coming true. What a great storyline!! I will sit with bated breath... Some minor observations: A) Did anybody else want more emotion from Maria tonight? I am not liking what they are doing with her either...she is becoming a figment of her former self...don't like it at all. B) Where the hell is Kyle? He has been reduce to cameo guy...and with a PICTURE!!! But I am sure it will improve...;) C) I loved how Michael was the one to hug Liz after Max was taken. I'm not sure if it made sense but I certainly like how he instinctively did it. To me, it seemed that Iz almost forced him to grab her...I think I need to watch it again though to make sure. I did like the action though. D) I hated the Isabel and Alex scene at the Crashdown simply because I thought they should have let us see Alex's reaction to the "pregnancy." I didn't much care for it either, but I love what Colin did with it. I just wish Izzy would soften up...and let him in....maybe in the future. Sigh. E) Have the writers just completely obliterated the Jim/Amy relationship? That sucks. I thought they were so cute together. Didn't you know? Parents no longer exist in Roswell. It is autonomous collective made up of lawmen and kids! HAHA I agree with your shallow post TO THE MAX!! nothing better than a shirtless Max....we have to admire all of his hard work! My best friend Lila adores Brendan and has been = yelling at me to finally open my eyes to him but now I understand =20 Brendan is really just a sweet guy. He was genuinely grateful for the = huge turnout and wanted to make sure that everyone got an autograph. = There was a section cordoned off for people who didn't shell out $40 for = Levis stuff and Brendan kept asking them why they didn't get in line for = an autograph. Then they said that they didn't have any money to spend = $40 and he was in shock. He had no idea that Macys or Levis had insisted = on a $40 purchase to get his John Hancock. He then proceeded to stay at = least an hour and a half longer than he had to so EVERYONE, regardless = of a purchase got to talk to him. He is a wonderful person and he really = went out of his way to accomodate his fans.=20 Other than joking with Brendan that "I want $100 worth of tobasco sauce = back from him if the show doesn't get renewed"(he is VERY confident that = it will be by the way), the definite highlight was hanging with Thea, = Sallykins, Megan, and my best friend Lila. It was a BLAST. You guys are = just awesome...even though we should be in the geriatric section. We = must keep in touch.=20 I took a TON of pictures which are going to be developed tomorrow. = Thanks to Megan and her friend(sorry sweetie, I never caught your name) = for letting me in the line to take pics.
