  46. Rather than comment and expand on Gina's email, I just want to agree with
  47. one statement (though I agree with all of them) that pretty much sums up how
  48. I feel about this show and every episode that keeps pulling me deeper and
  49. deeper into the storylines.
  50.

  54. I totally agree...emotionally, I really feel like thesse characters are
  55. real, or at least, I can realte to them (aliens aside).

  57. Intelletually, the show always keeps me on my toes, especially these last
  58. few episodes. I am glad there is finally a show that challenges my thinking
  59. capabilities. Never has Dawson's Creek driven me to such a degree.

  61. Thanks to the WB,  and Jonathon Frakes whose input has been shining through
  62. immensely the past two episodes...anyone else agreee? Remember Star Trek the
  63. next Generation??

  85.   Hey Guys,
  86.  
  87.   Well, there it was. The episode that we Max and Liz 'shippers(dreamers)
  88. have been dreading for a long time. Though many of you like Tess and relish
  89. in the thought of someone, anyone, coming between Max and Liz, I have to
  90. admit that this one hurt. Putting the relationship stuff aside for now
  91. though, I have to say that I really thought this episode was brilliant.
  92. Absolutely brilliant I was on the edge of my seat the entire time despite
  93. the fact that I had read some of the spoilers and saw some of the clips
  94. beforehand. It seemed this episode was even faster in pace than "Crazy" and
  95. really incorporated some of the big issues that have permeated the season.
  96. Roswell really is just great. Never have I been so emotionally and
  97. intellectually fascinated by a television show. It is a real testament to
  98. the cast and crew that it continues to expand upon itself and improve. I am
  99. really loving the new direction the show is taking especially since they're
  100. still utilizing all of the things I loved and bringing them to such a
  101. heightened, almost frenzied, crescendo. Anyhoo, here are some thoughts and
  102. observations:
  103.  
  104.   1) Tess: Let's just get this out of the way. I've tried to like her. I
  105. swear I have. I think Emilie is adorable and a real "firecracker." I just
  106. think that her character is so blatantly out of place on the show that she
  107. sticks out like a sore thumb(and not in a good way). All of the teens and
  108. adults in Roswell are sort of tortured. They all have big issues and are all
  109. pretty subdued in manner. Though I would think Tess would be a breath of
  110. fresh air in contrast to that, she really doesn't do it for me. I think a
  111. lot of it has to do with my not really understanding why Isabel has
  112. gravitated towards her. By all accounts, Tess seems as shallow and
  113. self-centered as all of the other "friends" that Isabel has shunned. It just
  114. doesn't seem right to me. Perhaps she is under the same spell that Max seems
  115. to be under but it still seems forced. Surely they could have introduced her
  116. in a more realistic manner.
  117.  
  118.   2) Max and Liz: Ah, this is another reason that I absolutely love this
  119. show. Though I'm not dating an alien(though some of my ex-boyfriends have me
  120. wondering whether they're from Planet A-hole)I can totally relate to
  121. thinking that you know someone implicitly only to realize that that may
  122. never really be possible. I think we all can relate. Needless to say, I feel
  123. for Liz in a big way. The shoe dropped, the "s" hit the fan and she never
  124. even saw it coming.
  125.  
  126.   Surprisingly, I also really felt for Max at times tonight too. That kiss
  127. that he planted on Liz during the opening scene at the Crashdown was so
  128. desperate. It was like by kissing her, he would somehow cleanse himself of
  129. all of the impure thoughts he was having about Tess. My question is, how do
  130. you fight yourself? How do you fight how you feel? It's not easy for humans
  131. and it certainly is going to be damn near impossible when you throw in alien
  132. history, the search for your past and yourself and a possible forgotten or
  133. unknown connection to someone, in this case a beautiful young girl.
  134.  
  135.   That rain kiss between Tess and Max with Liz looking on was nothing short
  136. of brutal. And to be honest, it was the first time that I really didn't like
  137. Max. It's funny, on the surface, the problems that Liz and Max seem to be
  138. having are so banal but underneath they are steeped in complication. If you
  139. didn't know them, you would think it was just another case of a straying
  140. boyfriend. Funny.
  141.  
  142.   3) Max and Michael: This relationship really is slowly deteriorating,
  143. isn't it? It seems that each week, something happens to tear them further
  144. and further apart. I thought it was terribly sad when Michael emphasized
  145. that he "USED to admire Max" It's like when you're a kid and you idolize
  146. your parents and you think they're the smartest, bravest people in the
  147. world. Then you grow up and you realize they're just human. That's what I
  148. kind of feel is happening to Michael and Max. Michael is growing more
  149. independent and making decisions, good and bad, on his own without informing
  150. Max. We have to hope that the growing pains don't tear them up to a point
  151. where the damage is irreparable.
  152.  
  153.   4) Maria and Liz : Though I'm not the biggest Michael and Maria 'shipper,
  154. I do love these characters individually. I do have to say that Maria RULES!!
  155. I loved how she did the best friend thing by warning Liz about Tess and how
  156. shady she appears to be. I also really loved how she comforted a crying Liz
  157. by declaring emphatically that Max was a jerk! Amen sister! Maria's the kind
  158. of person you want to have on your side. She's the real deal. A friend to
  159. the end. It's always cool when someone like Maria "has got your back." Great
  160. portrayal of their friendship tonight. The only thing that would have made
  161. it even better would to have included Alex in the mix. He's known them
  162. forever and it would have been nice to see the three aliens bond like we so
  163. often see their alien counterparts do.
  164.  
  165.   5) Michael and Liz: What an amazing surprise to see Michael defend Liz. He
  166. had this really protective thing going on with her and I for one LOVED it. I
  167. loved how he lit into Max about betraying Liz and how Michael was the first
  168. to want to rescue Liz from Tess and her dad. Michael really stepped up to
  169. the plate tonight and was a man. Nice growth of characterization!
  170.  
  171.   6) Liz: Again, I am completely biased but I thought Shiri was fantastic
  172. tonight. She broke my heart with just a look as she stood by the Crashdown
  173. doors and watched the man that she loves, kiss another girl. She was also
  174. just incredibly moving when she ignored Max and then confronted him by the
  175. lockers in the backroom of the restaurant. I could literally feel her pain.
  176. Liz has been so good about everything so far and it was great to just see
  177. her breakdown and feel. Just completely feel with her heart only. Shiri was
  178. just amazing. Were you guys feeling her too?
  179.  
  180.   7) Max: I think Max is trying to battle Angel for most tortured soul :) .
  181. Jason always astounds me with the depth that he brings to his character but
  182. tonight he was just so "on". He hated himself for what he was feeling. He
  183. hated himself for what he was doing to Liz and yet he couldn't deny that he
  184. was intrigued by Tess. I thought it was very telling that he said to Liz
  185. that it was "more than just attraction", implying that there is an
  186. attraction there to Tess. Though I screamed "what an ass" a few times to the
  187. screen when he was on, I did sympathize with him. He is as confused as
  188. everyone else is by what's happening and it's fascinating to watch this
  189. completely controlled person, become undone. Jason rocks again.
  190.  
  191.   8)Valenti and the Gang: I personally am loving the Valenti as ally thing.
  192. He still weirded me out a bit but I think he is genuinely scared for Max,
  193. Isabel and Michael. I'm still a little shaken by him speaking to Max so
  194. frankly about things that have been hidden for so long but I guess he's
  195. trying to get Max to admit who he is. Returning the orb was a great way to
  196. try and win the trust of the aliens and I can't wait to see how that pans
  197. out.Gotta love Valenti and gotta love William. He rules!
  198.  
  199.   9) Destiny, fate and where does love fit in?: I think it was Mala on the
  200. boards who made this great distinction between fate and destiny.(Mala, If
  201. you're reading this, please elaborate) For me, destiny implies a
  202. pre-determined plan while fate is more accidental or coincidental. In many
  203. ways, I think at least, destiny can be changed by fate. I think fate can
  204. sneak up on us and change the course of things in a heartbeat. That destiny
  205. is only pre-determined to the extent that it is what is "supposed" to happen
  206. as opposed to "fate" which might not have been planned but can open the
  207. pathway to a new destiny. In this case, when Max said that it was "fate"
  208. that brought him and Liz together, I really started thinking about the whole
  209. destiny, fate debate and where love fits into all of this. Are Liz and Max
  210. fated to be together? They love each other that's easy to see but do they
  211. belong together in the grander scheme of things. I'm sure Max was destined
  212. to be with another alien(whether that proves to be Tess in the future is
  213. another story) but was it fate that brought him to Liz? Since the moment he
  214. saw her in the 3rd grade, he loved her. Was that fate? Was that destiny? And
  215. can love change one or both of those things? I'm not really sure but I would
  216. love to hear what you guys think?
  217.  
  218.   Other things I noticed:
  219.   A) What was the deal with Michael pulling Max and Isabel aside to tell
  220. them that Tess's house was empty. I can't believe he reverted back to the 3
  221. and 3 formation.
  222.   B) Line of the night: "Oooh, I'm as flat as I thought I was"-Maria. She
  223. cracks me up!!
  224.   C) Second line of the night: "Everything I see with me eyes tells me he's
  225. cheating on me but everything in my heart tells me he's not"-Liz. That is
  226. love.
  227.   D) And speaking of love, how great was it to hear Liz declare her love for
  228. Max. Sure he wasn' there to hear it but as a dreamgirl, I was so happy!!! :D
  229. :D :D
  230.   E) HALLELUJAH: I couldn't believe that Kyle was finally on the screen,
  231. albeit briefly. Did any of you look around for the four horsemen and other
  232. signs of the apocalypse? LOL :) It was good to see him back. I also thought
  233. it was our lucky night because Kyle and Alex were on in the same episode. I
  234. guess the rumors about the budgetary constrictions of having both of them on
  235. together were erroneous LOL! :)
  236.   F) Is it me or does the Pod Squad really need to take some lessons from
  237. the Scooby Gang? Could they have been more obvious standing outside of
  238. Tess's house? I was cracking up. I was waiting for Michael or Alex to hold
  239. up a sign that said, "We're out here watching you" :)
  240.   G) Is it me or is Tess's father the creepiest dude on the planet? What's
  241. the deal with that?
  242.   H) Isabel's head on Alex, Maria on Michael's chest...too sweet.
  243.  
  244.   Shallow post of the week:
  245.   I am so loving Maria's new haircut. It looks great on Majandra! The guys
  246. looked really hot, especially Jason in that t-shirt(look at those arms!!!)
  247. and the shirt he wore during the first kiss with Liz at the Crashdown. Umm,
  248. it kills me to say it but that Tess and Max lab table scene was hot. Jason
  249. is so the man! Oh and how cute were the pics of Jason in the box at Tess's
  250. house? I thought for sure it was  a dreamgirl who took them! LOL :)
  251.  
  252.   Again, another just incredible episode. I know this one was long but it
  253. was so rich in detail. I really can't wait to see how this whole Tess
  254. storyline plays out, how and if the relationships(all of them) will survive
  255. and what role Valenti and Nasedo will play.This show just keeps getting
  256. better and better. Let's hope our efforts to keep it alive weren't in vain
  257. and that the WB opens their eyes to what an amazing show it has!

  751.   Well, there it was. The episode that we Max and Liz 'shippers(dreamers)
  752. have been dreading for a long time. Though many of you like Tess and relish
  753. in the thought of someone, anyone, coming between Max and Liz, I have to
  754. admit that this one hurt. Putting the relationship stuff aside for now
  755. though, I have to say that I really thought this episode was brilliant.
  756. Absolutely brilliant I was on the edge of my seat the entire time despite
  757. the fact that I had read some of the spoilers and saw some of the clips
  758. beforehand. It seemed this episode was even faster in pace than "Crazy" and
  759. really incorporated some of the big issues that have permeated the season.
  760. Roswell really is just great. Never have I been so emotionally and
  761. intellectually fascinated by a television show. It is a real testament to
  762. the cast and crew that it continues to expand upon itself and improve. I am
  763. really loving the new direction the show is taking especially since they're
  764. still utilizing all of the things I loved and bringing them to such a
  765. heightened, almost frenzied, crescendo. Anyhoo, here are some thoughts and
  766. observations:
  767.  
  768.   1) Tess: Let's just get this out of the way. I've tried to like her. I
  769. swear I have. I think Emilie is adorable and a real "firecracker." I just
  770. think that her character is so blatantly out of place on the show that she
  771. sticks out like a sore thumb(and not in a good way). All of the teens and
  772. adults in Roswell are sort of tortured. They all have big issues and are all
  773. pretty subdued in manner. Though I would think Tess would be a breath of
  774. fresh air in contrast to that, she really doesn't do it for me. I think a
  775. lot of it has to do with my not really understanding why Isabel has
  776. gravitated towards her. By all accounts, Tess seems as shallow and
  777. self-centered as all of the other "friends" that Isabel has shunned. It just
  778. doesn't seem right to me. Perhaps she is under the same spell that Max seems
  779. to be under but it still seems forced. Surely they could have introduced her
  780. in a more realistic manner.
  781.  
  782.   2) Max and Liz: Ah, this is another reason that I absolutely love this
  783. show. Though I'm not dating an alien(though some of my ex-boyfriends have me
  784. wondering whether they're from Planet A-hole)I can totally relate to
  785. thinking that you know someone implicitly only to realize that that may
  786. never really be possible. I think we all can relate. Needless to say, I feel
  787. for Liz in a big way. The shoe dropped, the "s" hit the fan and she never
  788. even saw it coming.

  790.   Surprisingly, I also really felt for Max at times tonight too. That kiss

  894.   E) HALLELUJAH: I couldn't believe that Kyle was finally on the screen,
  895. albeit briefly. Did any of you look around for the four horsemen and other
  896. signs of the apocalypse? LOL :) It was good to see him back. I also thought
  897. it was our lucky night because Kyle and Alex were on in the same episode. I
  898. guess the rumors about the budgetary constrictions of having both of them on
  899. together were erroneous LOL! :)
  900.   F) Is it me or does the Pod Squad really need to take some lessons from
  901. the Scooby Gang? Could they have been more obvious standing outside of
  902. Tess's house? I was cracking up. I was waiting for Michael or Alex to hold
  903. up a sign that said, "We're out here watching you" :)
  904.   G) Is it me or is Tess's father the creepiest dude on the planet? What's

  908.   Shallow post of the week:
  909.   I am so loving Maria's new haircut. It looks great on Majandra! The guys
  910. looked really hot, especially Jason in that t-shirt(look at those arms!!!)
  911. and the shirt he wore during the first kiss with Liz at the Crashdown. Umm,
  912. it kills me to say it but that Tess and Max lab table scene was hot. Jason
  913. is so the man! Oh and how cute were the pics of Jason in the box at Tess's
  914. house? I thought for sure it was  a dreamgirl who took them! LOL :)
  915.  
  916.   Again, another just incredible episode. I know this one was long but it
  917. was so rich in detail. I really can't wait to see how this whole Tess
  918. storyline plays out, how and if the relationships(all of them) will survive
  919. and what role Valenti and Nasedo will play.This show just keeps getting
  920. better and better. Let's hope our efforts to keep it alive weren't in vain
  921. and that the WB opens their eyes to what an amazing show it has!

  1005.   brilliant. Absolutely brilliant I was on the edge of my seat the =

  1007.   despite the fact that I had read some of the spoilers and saw some of =

  1009.   clips beforehand. It seemed this episode was even faster in pace than =
  1010. "Crazy"=20
  1011.   and really incorporated some of the big issues that have permeated the =
  1012. season.=20
  1013.   Roswell really is just great. Never have I been so emotionally and=20
  1014.   intellectually fascinated by a television show. It is a real testament =
  1015. to the=20
  1016.   cast and crew that it continues to expand upon itself and improve. I =
  1017. am really=20
  1018.   loving the new direction the show is taking especially since they're =
  1019. still=20
  1020.   utilizing all of the things I loved and bringing them to such a =
  1021. heightened,=20
  1022.   almost frenzied, crescendo. Anyhoo, here are some thoughts and=20

  1025.   <DIV><FONT size=3D2>1) <STRONG>Tess</STRONG>: Let's just get this out =

  1027.   way. I've tried to like her. I swear I have. I think Emilie is =
  1028. adorable and a=20
  1029.   real "firecracker." I just think that her character is so blatantly =
  1030. out of=20
  1031.   place on the show that she sticks out like a sore thumb(and not in a =
  1032. good=20
  1033.   way). All of the teens and adults in Roswell are sort of tortured. =
  1034. They all=20
  1035.   have big issues and are all pretty subdued in manner. Though I would =
  1036. think=20
  1037.   Tess would be a breath of fresh air in contrast to that, she really =
  1038. doesn't do=20
  1039.   it for me. I think a lot of it has to do with my not really =
  1040. understanding why=20
  1041.   Isabel has gravitated towards her. By all accounts, Tess seems as =
  1042. shallow and=20
  1043.   self-centered as all of the other "friends" that Isabel has shunned. =

  1045.   doesn't seem right to me. Perhaps she is under the same spell that Max =
  1046. seems=20
  1047.   to be under but it still seems forced. Surely they could have =
  1048. introduced her=20
  1049.   in a more realistic manner. </FONT></DIV>

  1057.   totally relate to thinking that you know someone implicitly only to =

  1059.   that that may never really be possible. I think we all can relate. =

  1061.   say, I feel for Liz in a big way. The shoe dropped, the "s" hit the =

  1070.   somehow cleanse himself of all of the impure thoughts he was having =

  1072.   Tess. My question is, how do you fight yourself? How do you fight how =

  1074.   feel? It's not easy for humans and it certainly is going to be damn =
  1075. near=20
  1076.   impossible when you throw in alien history, the search for your past =
  1077. and=20
  1078.   yourself and a possible forgotten or unknown connection to someone, in =
  1079. this=20
  1080.   case a beautiful young girl. </FONT></DIV>

  1086.   didn't like Max. It's funny, on the surface, the problems that Liz and =

  1088.   seem to be having are so banal but underneath they are steeped in=20
  1089.   complication. If you didn't know them, you would think it was just =

  1099.   when Michael emphasized that he "USED to admire Max" It's like when =
  1100. you're a=20
  1101.   kid and you idolize your parents and you think they're the smartest, =
  1102. bravest=20
  1103.   people in the world. Then you grow up and you realize they're just =
  1104. human.=20
  1105.   That's what I kind of feel is happening to Michael and Max. Michael is =
  1106. growing=20
  1107.   more independent and making decisions, good and bad, on his own =
  1108. without=20
  1109.   informing Max. We have to hope that the growing pains don't tear them =
  1110. up to a=20
  1111.   point where the damage is irreparable. </FONT></DIV>

  1121.   how she comforted a crying Liz by declaring emphatically that Max was =

  1123.   Amen sister! Maria's the kind of person you want to have on your side. =

  1125.   the real deal. A friend to the end. It's always cool when someone like =

  1127.   "has got your back." Great portrayal of their friendship tonight. The =

  1129.   thing that would have made it even better would to have included Alex =

  1172.   he couldn't deny that he was intrigued by Tess. I thought it was very =

  1174.   that he said to Liz that it was "more than just attraction", implying =

  1176.   there is an attraction there to Tess. Though I screamed "what an ass" =

  1178.   times to the screen when he was on, I did sympathize with him. He is =

  1180.   confused as everyone else is by what's happening and it's fascinating =

  1182.   this completely controlled person, become undone. Jason rocks=20

  1193.   but I guess he's trying to get Max to admit who he is. Returning the =

  1195.   great way to try and win the trust of the aliens and I can't wait to =

  1204.   elaborate) For me, destiny implies a pre-determined plan while fate is =
  1205. more=20
  1206.   accidental or coincidental. In many ways, I think at least, destiny =
  1207. can be=20
  1208.   changed by fate. I think fate can sneak up on us and change the course =
  1209. of=20
  1210.   things in a heartbeat. That destiny is only pre-determined to the =
  1211. extent that=20
  1212.   it is what is "supposed" to happen as opposed to "fate" which might =
  1213. not have=20
  1214.   been planned but can open the pathway to a new destiny. In this case, =
  1215. when Max=20
  1216.   said that it was "fate" that brought him and Liz together, I really =
  1217. started=20
  1218.   thinking about the whole destiny, fate debate and where love fits into =
  1219. all of=20
  1220.   this. Are Liz and Max fated to be together? They love each other =
  1221. that's easy=20
  1222.   to see but do they belong together in the grander scheme of things. =
  1223. I'm sure=20
  1224.   Max was destined to be with another alien(whether that proves to be =
  1225. Tess in=20
  1226.   the future is another story) but was it fate that brought him to Liz? =
  1227. Since=20
  1228.   the moment he saw her in the 3rd grade, he loved her. Was that fate? =
  1229. Was that=20
  1230.   destiny? And can love change one or both of those things? I'm not =
