I totally agree... bith times she came on the scene (at the restaurent and
school) she just seemed like she was barging in so much. At the restaurant
it
seemed like Isabel didn't even WANT her there. And, they way she talks seems
so.. forced? Like she has an accent she wants to hide.

this
as a Max and Liz shipper, I really didn't like her introduction into the Pod
Squad. It felt incredibly forced to me. Isabel is so guarded and has that
wall up just as high, if not higher than Michael's and yet she so quickly
embraced Tess? I know she's lonely but it still seemed slightly out of
character for her. Also, I didn't find her sweet at all, I found her
treacly.
I think the actress playing her is really cute though but not the type of
character I would have liked to see come in between Max and Liz. My feeling
is, if you're going to attempt to stir the pot of a couple(which is what
Tess
is going to do) then you have to at least have a character as interesting or
likeable as the person she/he is trying to replace. Based on tonight, I
didn't feel it. I'm hoping that this will change as time goes by but I want
her to at least be a viable candidate for Max's heart. Otherwise, it's all
pretty superfluous for me and it's all about waiting for Max and Liz to find
their way back to each other. Any thoughts?

welll, i wont like her now...besides she is irritating! and i think that in

anyways, i thought the whole maria wanting a relationship like liz and

I was really disappointed in this omission also. At the very least, there
should have been a throwaway line or 2 about their parents and whether
they have curfews to meet now, can't stay out so late (like all night!)
or something! There has been this continuity problem between episodes
before, where something big happens and there's no discussion of it
afterwards, and no repercussions. As you know, I felt it strongly after
Blind Date!! Too bad the script writers can't refer back to each other's
work a little bit, and think to themselves, "Oh, I guess I should mention
that huge thing that happened last week in this week's episode!"
Otherwise, I thought last night was outstanding! I think I'll have to
watch it again to compose coherent thoughts about it. But here are a few
incoherent ones!
I loved the new interaction between Michael & Maria!! They were fabulous
in every single scene together. Their relationship seems such a big step
forward for Michael and lots of potential for growth there. I like
Michael working at the Crashdown! Very cute.
I liked that Liz & Max finally get to be happy together for a while, but,
and I never thought I could think this, didn't Max seem a little too
perfect of a boyfriend? Gifts, flowers, always knowing when to reach out
with a little touch, yikes! What human boy could live up to his example??
I also don't think Liz was being a very good friend to Maria, doing all
that cooing and smooching right in front of her when she knows that Maria
is not getting the same. Loved the scene between Michael and Max, where
Max is trying to teach Michael how to be a nicer boyfriend.
Max hitting Michael was really disturbing. Wow. What repercussions will
there be from that??
I am very intrigued by the doctor/ Nasedo thing. What are his motives?
Who's side is he on?? I'm glad that Valenti seems to be becoming a good
guy, and yes, what's he going to do with the orb??? Poor old Topolsky,
looks like she's been tortured. I trusted her this time and am scared
about what's going to happen to her next.
I hated Tess, especially in the scene where she interrupts Alex & Isabel
for the second time. Her first scene with them she just seemed friendly
and eager. But in the second one didn't she seem so calculating and like
she was totally dismissing Alex. Which maybe she is for her own ulterior
motives. Moving in on Isabel and pushing aside the unimportant people in
her way.
Very interesting new story directions.
Can't wait to see what happens next!

I have to say that this didn't bother me but it's probably because they do it
in the X Files all the time. Mulder is at death's door and then he's
back in his apartment in the next episode.
Anyway, I loved the show last night. The chemistry between all the actors was
great and the "we're closing early" line (sorry I shouldn't put it in quotes
because I'm not sure I got it exactly right) was hilarious.
Can't wait until next Monday
Take care everyone

Yeah, I was wondering about that too Mike but I was just happy that
Liz and Max were still an acknowledged couple. I was afraid that the writers
would give us this new bond during "Sexual Healing" and then fizzle the
couplehood out to gear towards sci-fi. The writers haven't been very good
about writing for the parents thus far but I'm willing to overlook that for
now.

I'm liking the sheriff being an ally too but if I were the aliens, I would
be just as wary of the sheriff as I was with Topolsky. I was weirded out by
the conversation between the sheriff and Max at the UFO Center simply
because it was so out of the blue. For so long we (the aliens and the
audience) have grown accustomed to fearing the sheriff and now we're
supposed to trust him? It's all still a little weird.

I'm sure you know by now but the ratings were pretty good. I believe they
were a 4.0 share and we were able to sustain 69% of 7th Heaven's audience. T
hat's not a bad start.

I forgot to mention that earlier too. Valenti's little speech sounded too
rehearsed, or something, during that weirded out conversation.
Also, were we given just a little bit too much in this episode, i.e., too
much kissage, too much information, too much too quickly?
Anyway, we're definitely making some progress with those Tabasco sauce
mailings. Even after last night's episode, the local news reported on it.
Even the newscaster stated she hoped the show was picked up...

Maybe there weren't any. Maybe they faced down their parents, and their
unconstrained smooching and dating is meant to be the obvious sign that they
won.
Keep in mind, when you want to see something, that the episodes have a fixed
length, and it is standard (universal?) practice to overshoot, then cut. So
contemplate which part of the episode you'd rather have gone without.
("Less kissing", someone will probably say.)

But if they'd cut kissing for a mention of the showdown, someone might be
complaining that the couplehood was fizzling...

Well, the Sheriff did shoot a person who'd been going to shoot Max, and who
had _openly_ accused Max of being an alien (never happened before), and been
someone Valenti might have trusted. And didn't press the issue. That earns
him some points.
And it was mostly a one-way conversation this episode, even so. Max didn't
give anything away.

Why couldn't this be true? The alien we've seen that killed Hank is not
necessarily Nasedo. Everyone just assumes that he is. But why can't there
be multiple aliens that have been to the Earth and/or are still here? This
would mean that any character could be an alien, and any alien we see might
or might not be nasedo. Personally, my theory is that nasedo brought Max,
Michael and Isabel to the Earth to hide them for some reason and some other
aliens have been trying to hunt all of them down. If this is true (which
it very well might not be) Pierce probably is an alien!
This is one of the things I love about this show--there are endless
possibilities about what is going on!

Subject: [roswell] Promo Observations
Okay, I have to make a couple of comments about the promo from Monday's
episode, so I'll spoiler space my speculations, just in case:
S

I
L

A
C

I'm sure someone else on some other list has done this too, so we'll swap
notes:
1) Yes, that's Max and Tess kissing in not one, but two shots; I suspect
that at least one of the shots is from a dream sequence, since obviously
they're in class. However -- Liz is shown looking like she is disgusted by
something, also in a classroom environment, so there could in fact be this
'force' that is drawing Max to Tess making him do things not of his own
will.
2) Michael telling Max that he "doesn't know who [he] is anymore." I think
we're meant to believe that this is because of Max's apparent infidelity to
Liz, but I think it's actually because Max struck Michael in Crazy. I will
have more to say on this topic later, since I found this rather disturbing.
3) Next, we have Liz coming to visit Tess at, apparently, her own fancy
home.
4) Everyone except Max is eavesdropping this visit by some kind of remote
camera, apparently hidden in a statue (or something other fixed object) Liz
drops when she is caught by -- apparently -- Tess' father (although he does
look like one of those FBI suits from earlier).
5) Max looks like he too discovers something that disturbs him, so perhaps
he learns quickly that Tess is not who exactly she says she is (guessing, of
course, that she isn't just another kid at school).
Note, I make these speculations without any prior knowledge of outside
spoilers.

"Crazy"
=20
=20
=20
Hey Guys,
Firstly, how great was it to finally see a new episode?! It =
seems the buildup to this episode was greater than any before. I have to =
admit that I was one of the people who was very concerned with the new =
"direction" the show was going to take. While I enjoy the science =
fiction aspect of the show, it=92s the little relationship moments that =
have really touched me beyond belief. However, the writers proved how =
capable and in tune with the characters they really are with tonight=92s =
episode. After seeing this, I can see the initial vision of the show a =
little clearer. Tonight was the first time that I honestly felt it was =
"The X Files crosses Dawsons Creek" and I for one am loving it.The =
episode was so amazing! Here are some thoughts and observations:
1) I really liked the "Previously seen on Roswell" clips that =
started the show. It was a great set of clips and a good "cliff notes" =
version for new viewers. If that montage of scenes doesn't get people =
in, nothing will.=20
2) Couples in Roswell: Nothing is ever simple, is it? The three =
main couples really are vastly different and it's obvious in how they're =
handling the Topolsky/FBI/alien-human relations situation.
A) Liz and Max: Ahhh, the quiet before the storm. Max and =
Liz were so sweet tonight and very "couple-y" It was good to see some =
continuity between "Sexual Healing" and "Crazy" which is something that =
the writers have been a little laxed about. It was also interesting to =
see Max and Liz disagree about the Topolsky/trust issue and it was even =
better to see neither one back down. I was afraid that Liz would cower a =
little but she stood her ground. It's obvious their love runs deep and =
that Liz is really scared for Max and what could potentially always be a =
threat to his life...his very existence. It's so obvious how deep their =
connection runs; it almost seems eternal. It was so nice to see, even if =
for one episode, what it would be like for Max and Liz to be a normal =
couple.
B) Maria and Michael: It was good to see them in the =
contrast to Max and Liz. Max and Liz are so perfectly matched. Both are =
honor students, both are pretty "play by the rules" kind of people, both =
are incredibly rational. Then there's Michael and Maria who at times =
have this great symbiotic relationship and then the next instance are =
like oil and water. Watching them is like watching a roller coaster ride =
with its ups and downs constantly changing the equilibrium of things. =
This works for them in a big way. Majandra and Brendan were incredible =
tonight. The wanting on Maria's part to have what Max and Liz have, the =
desperation on Michael's part to try and accomodate her, the bickering, =
the caring, and finally the culminating scene in the woods where Maria =
WOULD not leave Michael even if it meant she would be hurt. Great scene, =
very revealing in many ways of how they really feel about each other. =
Awesome acting!
C) Alex and Isabel. There is so much potential there. =
They are both really fascinating characters. Isabel is such a hard one =
to figure out. One thing is for certain. Isabel is lonely. Lonely for =
friendship, for someone to love her, for someone to understand her, but =
most importantly, lonely for someone to want to know her back. I imagine =
she's used to people wanting to know her because she's pretty and =
popular(though we've never seen her with "friends" other than in the Toy =
House, her popularity is alluded to many times throughout the series) no =
one really has ever wanted to know the real her. That's sort of why the =
Alex/Isabel relationship is so ripe. Alex is in a completely different =
clique of students yet has the same isolation issues that Isabel has. =
Not many people want to get to know Alex either. He's not overly popular =
or smart, he's just average. I hope Isabel and Alex can persevere.
3) Topolsky, the aliens' safety and these "alien hunters": Just =
had to say that Julie Benz was awesome tonight. Her trepidation and fear =
were palpable. I have read some spoilers, not all, so I'm not completely =
sure where this is leading. I do know that I don't trust anyone! I do =
think that the aliens will have to come to a decision within themselves, =
especially Michael and Isabel about trusting the humans completely. Max =
trusts Liz implicitly and I honestly feel as if he trusts Alex and Maria =
too(he said it in tonights episode but I think he really believes it =
too). Michael and Isabel still have the "aliens vs. humans" mentality =
and that has to change if they all want to stay safe. Very scary stuff =
tonight though. Topolsky, Valenti, Pierce, Nasedo...everyone is suspect =
and no one's intentions seem obvious anymore. Can't wait to see this pan =
out.
Two interesting quotes:
A) "It's not 3 and 3 Michael, it's the 6 of us" -Liz. This is =
definetly an interesting line (can someone smell the foreshadowing?) and =
one that will prove harder to live by as time goes on I'm sure. It's =
great that these three aliens love these three humans but will they ever =
be six? Will they ever be able to find this true common ground? I love =
Max and Liz so much and I want to see them happy, but their differences =
become more of an obstacle every time they're together. Yes they love =
each other, yes they feel complete when they're together, but as you can =
see from the previews to next week's show, these things can be fleeting. =
It's all a lot to process. What do you guys think?
B) "I just really want this to be over with" -Maria. Another =
interesting line and one that shows how young and perhaps naive Maria =
and Liz are. This line disturbed me a little because it shows that Maria =
doesn't (or won't) fully comprehend the complexity and severity of the =
situation. Michael will never stop being an alien and she'll never stop =
being a human. "This" will never be over.=20
4) Tess: Ah, the Tess person. To be honest and I swear I'm not =
saying this as a Max and Liz shipper, I really didn't like her =
introduction into the Pod Squad. It felt incredibly forced to me. Isabel =
is so guarded and has that wall up just as high, if not higher than =
Michael's and yet she so quickly embraced Tess? I know she's lonely but =
it still seemed slightly out of character for her. Also, I didn't find =
her sweet at all, I found her treacly. I think the actress playing her =
is really cute though but not the type of character I would have liked =
to see come in between Max and Liz. My feeling is, if you're going to =
attempt to stir the pot of a couple(which is what Tess is going to do) =
then you have to at least have a character as interesting or likeable as =
the person she/he is trying to replace. Based on tonight, I didn't feel =
it. I'm hoping that this will change as time goes by but I want her to =
at least be a viable candidate for Max's heart. Otherwise, it's all =
pretty superfluous for me and it's all about waiting for Max and Liz to =
find their way back to each other. Any thoughts?=20
5) The transition to science fiction: What I loved about this =
episode was how well balanced it truly was. Not since the pilot, have I =
felt this enthusiastic about the science fiction of the story. Usually I =
am more intrigued by the hand holding scene in "Sexual Healing" between =
Max and Liz or the bed scene between Maria and Michael in "Independence =
Day" but tonight I was really into the entire episode. This show =
continues to amaze me with it's writing staff and it's actors and how =
smoothly they make the transition between drama and comedy, bravery and =
fear, all in one episode. This was an incredibly taut episode and I am =
confident that they will be able to sustain this for years to come! =
(optimism up. American flag waving. "Star Spangled Banner playing in the =
background. A thinly veiled plea to write more letters and send more =
sauce. I will stop now) :)
6) Weekly Shallow Post: Everyone looked amazing tonight. I have =
never seen Shiri look better! Maria and Isabel looked beautiful as well. =
Michael, gotta love a guy in a bandana. Alex is just always adorable. =
Jason. Oh my! I'm going to refrain from gushing here but I will say that =
I think he's the best looking man I have ever seen! I also loved the =
Cameron Diaz in "Being John Malkovich" wig that Topolsky wore to the =
Chinese restaurant. For a minute there I thought something was going to =
fly out of it!=20
Again, an incredible episode and definetly worth the wait! If =
this show does not get renewed, then I know that there is no longer room =
on television for quality writing, quality acting and quality =
entertainment. Keep writing those letters!! Take care! Gina :)

usual=20
perky, forth-right self. I Loved that. I also cared for the desert =
scenes a=20
great deal because it was the first time all six of them were there=20
together. Very moving moments there. I hope Isabel and Alex take =
things slow=20
and eventually form a tight bond, whether it be as friends, or =
something=20
more, I want it to happen. Topolsky was awesome...Julie's talent is =
truly=20
shining through, she is going places for sure! I am glad the sheriff =
is on=20
their side. He has really ben doing his job ever since The =
Convention=20
(protecting them). Well, Thats al I got for now, but I am going to =
watch it=20
again and again and again. I could go on and =
on.....</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

Thoughts=20
and observations about "Crazy"<BR><BR></DIV></FONT>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=3D2>
<P>Hey Guys,</P>
<P>Firstly, how great was it to finally see a new episode?! It =
seems the=20
buildup to this episode was greater than any before. I have to =
admit=20
that I was one of the people who was very concerned with the new =
"direction" the show was going to take. While I enjoy =
the=20
science fiction aspect of the show, it’s the little =
relationship=20
moments that have really touched me beyond belief. However, the =
writers=20
proved how capable and in tune with the characters they really =
are with=20
tonight’s episode. After seeing this, I can see the =
initial vision=20
of the show a little clearer. Tonight was the first time that I =
honestly=20
felt it was "The X Files crosses Dawsons Creek" and I =
for one=20
am loving it.The episode was so amazing! Here are some thoughts =
and=20
observations:</P>
<P>1) I really liked the "<STRONG>Previously seen on=20
Roswell</STRONG>" clips that started the show. It was a =
great set=20
of clips and a good "cliff notes" version for new =
viewers. If=20
that montage of scenes doesn't get people in, nothing will. </P>
<P>2) <STRONG>Couples in Roswell</STRONG>: Nothing is ever =
simple, is=20
it? The three main couples really are vastly different and it's =
obvious=20
in how they're handling the Topolsky/FBI/alien-human relations=20
situation.</P>
<P> A) <STRONG>Liz and =
Max</STRONG>: Ahhh,=20
the quiet before the storm. Max and Liz were so sweet tonight =
and very=20
"couple-y" It was good to see some continuity between=20
"Sexual Healing" and "Crazy" which is =
something that=20
the writers have been a little laxed about. It was also =
interesting to=20
see Max and Liz disagree about the Topolsky/trust issue and it =
was even=20
better to see neither one back down. I was afraid that Liz would =
cower a=20
little but she stood her ground. It's obvious their love runs =
deep and=20
that Liz is really scared for Max and what could potentially =
always be a=20
threat to his life...his very existence. It's so obvious how =
deep their=20
connection runs; it almost seems eternal. It was so nice to see, =
even if=20
for one episode, what it would be like for Max and Liz to be a =
normal=20
couple.</P>
<P> B) <STRONG>Maria and=20
Michael</STRONG>: It was good to see them in the contrast =
to Max=20
and Liz. Max and Liz are so perfectly matched. Both are honor =
students,=20
both are pretty "play by the rules" kind of people, =
both are=20
incredibly rational. Then there's Michael and Maria who at times =
have=20
this great symbiotic relationship and then the next instance are =
like=20
oil and water. Watching them is like watching a roller coaster =
ride with=20
its ups and downs constantly changing the equilibrium of things. =
This=20
works for them in a big way. Majandra and Brendan were =
incredible=20
tonight. The wanting on Maria's part to have what Max and Liz =
have, the=20
desperation on Michael's part to try and accomodate her, the =
bickering,=20
the caring, and finally the culminating scene in the woods where =
Maria=20
WOULD not leave Michael even if it meant she would be hurt. =
Great scene,=20
very revealing in many ways of how they really feel about each =
other.=20
Awesome acting!</P>
<P> C) <STRONG>Alex =
and=20
Isabel</STRONG>. There is so much potential there. They are both =
really=20
fascinating characters. Isabel is such a hard one to figure out. =
One=20
thing is for certain. Isabel is lonely. Lonely for friendship, =
for=20
someone to love her, for someone to understand her, but most=20
importantly, lonely for someone to want to know her back. I =
imagine=20
she's used to people wanting to know her because she's pretty =
and=20
popular(though we've never seen her with "friends" =
other than=20
in the Toy House, her popularity is alluded to many times =
throughout the=20
series) no one really has ever wanted to know the real her. =
That's sort=20
of why the Alex/Isabel relationship is so ripe. Alex is in a =
completely=20
different clique of students yet has the same isolation issues =
that=20
Isabel has. Not many people want to get to know Alex either. =
He's not=20
overly popular or smart, he's just average. I hope Isabel and =
Alex can=20
persevere.</P>
<P>3) <STRONG>Topolsky, the aliens' safety and these "alien =
hunters</STRONG>": Just had to say that Julie Benz was =
awesome=20
tonight. Her trepidation and fear were palpable. I have read =
some=20
spoilers, not all, so I'm not completely sure where this is =
leading. I=20
do know that I don't trust anyone! I do think that the aliens =
will have=20
to come to a decision within themselves, especially Michael and =
Isabel=20
about trusting the humans completely. Max trusts Liz implicitly =
and I=20
honestly feel as if he trusts Alex and Maria too(he said it in =
tonights=20
episode but I think he really believes it too). Michael and =
Isabel still=20
have the "aliens vs. humans" mentality and that has to =
change=20
if they all want to stay safe. Very scary stuff tonight though.=20
Topolsky, Valenti, Pierce, Nasedo...everyone is suspect and no =
one's=20
intentions seem obvious anymore. Can't wait to see this pan =
out.</P>
<P>Two interesting quotes:</P>
<P>A) "It's not 3 and 3 Michael, it's the 6 of us" =
- -Liz. This=20
is definetly an interesting line (can someone smell the =
foreshadowing?)=20
and one that will prove harder to live by as time goes on I'm =
sure. It's=20
great that these three aliens love these three humans but will =
they ever=20
be six? Will they ever be able to find this true common ground? =
I love=20
Max and Liz so much and I want to see them happy, but their =
differences=20
become more of an obstacle every time they're together. Yes they =
love=20
each other, yes they feel complete when they're together, but as =
you can=20
see from the previews to next week's show, these things can be =
fleeting.=20
It's all a lot to process. What do you guys think?</P>
<P>B) "I just really want this to be over with" =
- -Maria.=20
Another interesting line and one that shows how young and =
perhaps naive=20
Maria and Liz are. This line disturbed me a little because it =
shows that=20
Maria doesn't (or won't) fully comprehend the complexity =
and=20
severity of the situation. Michael will never stop being an =
alien and=20
she'll never stop being a human. "This" will never be =
over.=20
</P>
<P></FONT><FONT size=3D2>4) <STRONG>Tess</STRONG>: Ah, the Tess =
person. To=20
be honest and I swear I'm not saying this as a Max and Liz =
shipper, I=20
really didn't like her introduction into the Pod Squad. It felt=20
incredibly forced to me. Isabel is so guarded and has that wall =
up just=20
as high, if not higher than Michael's and yet she so quickly =
embraced=20
Tess? I know she's lonely but it still seemed slightly out of =
character=20
for her. Also, I didn't find her sweet at all, I found her =
treacly. I=20
think the actress playing her is really cute though but not the =
type of=20
character I would have liked to see come in between Max and Liz. =
My=20
feeling is, if you're going to attempt to stir the pot of a =
couple(which=20
is what Tess is going to do) then you have to at least have a =
character=20
as interesting or likeable as the person she/he is trying to =
replace.=20
Based on tonight, I didn't feel it. I'm hoping that this will =
change as=20
time goes by but I want her to at least be a viable candidate =
for Max's=20
heart. Otherwise, it's all pretty superfluous for me and it's =
all about=20
waiting for Max and Liz to find their way back to each other. =
Any=20
thoughts? </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=3D2>5) <STRONG>The transition to science =
fiction</STRONG>:=20
What I loved about this episode was how well balanced it truly =
was. Not=20
since the pilot, have I felt this enthusiastic about the science =
fiction=20
of the story. Usually I am more intrigued by the hand holding =
scene in=20
"Sexual Healing" between Max and Liz or the bed scene =
between=20
Maria and Michael in "Independence Day" but tonight I =
was=20
really into the entire episode. This show continues to amaze me =
with=20
it's writing staff and it's actors and how smoothly they make =
the=20
transition between drama and comedy, bravery and fear, all in =
one=20
episode. This was an incredibly taut episode and I am confident =
that=20
they will be able to sustain this for years to come! (optimism =
up.=20
American flag waving. "Star Spangled Banner playing in the=20
background. A thinly veiled plea to write more letters and send =
more=20
sauce. I will stop now) :)</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=3D2>6) <STRONG>Weekly Shallow Post</STRONG>: =
Everyone looked=20
amazing tonight. I have never seen Shiri look better! Maria and =
Isabel=20
looked beautiful as well. Michael, gotta love a guy in a =
bandana. Alex=20
is just always adorable. Jason. Oh my! I'm going to refrain from =
gushing=20
here but I will say that I think he's the best looking man I =
have ever=20
seen! I also loved the Cameron Diaz in "Being John =
Malkovich"=20
wig that Topolsky wore to the Chinese restaurant. For a minute =
there I=20
thought something was going to fly out of it! </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>Again, an incredible episode =
and definetly=20
worth the wait! If this show does not get renewed, then I know =
that=20
there is no longer room on television for quality writing, =
quality=20
acting and quality entertainment. Keep writing those letters!! =

care! Gina :)</FONT></P></DIV>
