Thanks for this info. Like you say, at least there'll be something
worthwhile to watch on Mondays. But now there won't be anything to watch on
Wednesdays... unless you like Dawson's Geek. ;)

Subject: [roswell] Musings of a Stargazer-SPOILERS
spoilers ahead...
Ok...as the Founder of the Stargazers, I have to say that I am a VERY happy
person right now!! The bantering betweeen Alex and Isabel in this episode
were so adorable!
Alex was absolutely hilarious when he kept offering himself for experimental
purposes. Hilarious, and yet completely endearing. Kudos to Colin Hanks
tonight! And Katherine was so adorable when she showed up at his doorstep.
"Ok." "Ok what?" "Ok, kiss me." (or however it went, my head is still
reeling from the episode...)
And the kiss...::sighs dreamily...:: oh my......granted it had none of the
groping or moaning or panting included in the ones shared by Maria and
Michael or Max and Liz...but....wow...It was the sweetest thing that I have
ever seen. God, I would kill to be kissed like that...
well...now that I've gotten onto the kiss tangent, I won't be good for much
else the rest of the night so I'll talk to you all later. Let me know what
you thought!

Subject: [roswell] ADMIN: Winners & Job Openings!
As you know, one of the things we did to help promote this list was a
contest to win an early draft of the Pilot Script. Well, it's March 1st, and
the winners are as follows:
hollymarsh@hotmail.com
cptroc@email.com
kaycomp@worldnet.att.net
LaneyGuerin@aol.com
melroswellfan@yahoo.com
roswellgoddess@hotmail.com
RoswellChick2356@aol.com
Rosweluvn00grad@webtv.net
scadian13@hotmail.com
sculder@idirect.com
But if you didn't win -- don't worry. One of the things I have in the works
is a web site dedicated to sharing some of the Roswell scripts with the
fans. They often contain cut scenes and missing dialogue, or in the case of
this early draft of the pilot, an entirely different ending!
I appreciate all of you who have contributed something to this list, and
there's so much more to be done. So, there are some 'job openings!'
I am still looking for a dedicated, competent, moderator to help me manage
this list and advertise it, so that people know we're here and that we're
not just 'a-dime-a-dozen onelist' (no offense to onelist-ers).
I also need someone to help write weekly reviews of each episode, like a
weekly newsletter. This will help spark conversations and allow people to
share their favorite moments, viewpoints, and things the rest of us may have
missed about each episode.
I also want to start "partnerships" with other Roswell-related webmasters
and mailing list owners. For instance, we don't do FanFic here, but there
are those out there who do want FanFic. So I could refer them to your site.
On the other hand, there are those out there who'd prefer this kind of
mailing list, and you could refer them to this list.
Another job opening I have, is for people to help me type up those scripts
to be placed on the web site. In so doing, you'd get a free script, and we'd
all benefit be getting to read those highlights from the scripts.
Is anyone out there up to doing these things? We really need you!
As I mentioned to the winners private, a list is only as good as it's list
members, and I thank all of you for your support and I look forward to
chatting with you for many seasons about one of the best shows currently on
television!

Mike-
I would love to help with the scripts...or anything else that I can help
with. I spend a great deal of time sitting at the computer at home when I'm
not in class or at work and could always use something else to keep me busy.
Let me know.

Hey Guys,
How are you? I just have to get this out of the way first. As a die =
hard Max and Liz fan, tonight's episode was incredibly sexy and fun to =
watch. The make out scenes were incredibly intense (and plentiful) which =
for me was just great! :) The rest of the episode was slightly lacking =
though(much more on that later) but the individual sweet moments between =
all of the couples more than made up for it! Here are some thoughts:
1) Michael and Max : One thing that I really liked about this episode =
was that it wasn't as uptight or intense as past episodes have tended to =
be. We got to see Michael and Max do a little "male bonding" and Michael =
gently mocking Max and his unusual situation. These guys, who are =
supposed to be like brothers never really talk about anything else =
except their alien past or finding out about their inception. It was =
just nice to see them dealing with hormones and joking about stuff =
instead. I also detected a little "little brother/older brother" =
jealousy thing going on. Michael has said before that he envies Max =
("Missing") but I really felt that there was a twinge of envy on =
Michael's part when Max told him about his mutual visions with Liz. If =
Max and Liz have this connection, why don't Maria and I have it? It just =
seems to me that Michael, though he loves Max dearly, will always have =
this complex about Max being good at everything, or having everything =
while he doesn't.
2) Maria and Liz : Their friendship is so refreshing in its honesty and =
intensity. Only really best friends can tell it like it is and I'm so =
glad Maria didn't mince words with Liz when she interrogated her about =
what she was doing with Max on the couch. I thought it was very =
important that Maria questioned Max's intentions and brought up the =
issue of whether Liz was just being used by him for her visions. Though =
Liz didn't want to hear it, it obviously weighed on her mind (hence her =
asking Max about it at the end of the episode) and I was just glad that =
the question was brought out. Unlike Michael and Maria, I don't feel as =
though there's any jealousy between these two and that they truly do =
have each other's best intentions in mind.=20
3) Michael and Maria : Thought they had some really great moments =
together (not just the making out) and it's obvious that since =
"Independence Day", a new relationship has been forged. It's interesting =
that Michael was able to connect to Maria and not vice versa. It's a =
good premise that the closing off ones self makes the connection one =
sided. I guess that explains why Max and Liz have a two way =
connection(since they are very open to each other in every way) and =
Michael and Maria haven't reached that point yet. I liked that Michael =
hugged Maria during their final scene together on the couch but found it =
strangely out of character for him. Michael just doesn't strike me as =
the "huggy type." Then again, he did allow himself to be cradled by =
Maria during "Independence Day" so hopefully this is a side of himself =
that he will reserve only for her. That would actually be pretty sweet.=20
4) Isabel and Alex : They didn't have many scenes together but I see =
tons of potential for them again. Colin continues to amaze me with the =
vibrancy and gusto that he gives the paltry lines he's given. When are =
the writers going to find an episode that truly showcases his talent? =
Their kiss was really sweet. Kind of awkward, kind of hesitant...I'm =
glad it wasn't perfect. It would have been so unrealistic for them to =
jump right in like Michael and Maria did during "Heat Wave."
5) Max and Liz : Ahh, the best for last. Despite the title of the =
episode, I thought this episode was more about an emotional bond being =
formed between Liz and Max rather than a physical one. Sure they did =
things, and certainly rounded Kyle's previously ventured "second base" =
but they also made a deep, meaningful connection that won't ever be =
replaced. How incredible must it have made Max and Liz feel that the =
person they care most about in this world, knows them in such an =
intimate way? That somehow the answers to everything about about you are =
reflected in the other? What they share is beyond sex. It's a true =
joining of souls. Succesful relationships are predicated on really =
"knowing" your mate and Max and Liz know and comprehend each other in =
ways that people rarely, if ever, get a chance to do. Having said that, =
the kissing scenes were really incredbily erotic and nicely shot. Had =
Liz not heard the "signals" in the desert, I suspect they would have =
made love but it's better this way. We know that they want to and that's =
enough to know for now. I really do wonder if the issue of sex will be =
addressed in future episodes. There are many logistics that have to be =
discussed (safety, inter-species birth control) I mean, sure alien-human =
births can happen ( as any self respecting person alive during the '80's =
knows it can from "V" the series) but how do you prevent it? :) Glowing =
hickeys? Rashes? It's all really tricky and I hope it's spoken about =
somewhere down the line.=20
6) Liz and her mom : Loved the big sex talk that Mrs. Parker tried to =
have with Liz and I loved Liz's reaction to her mom when she snuck back =
into her room and was caught. Shiri continues to amaze me with her dead =
on characterization of a 16 year old girl. I was watching Dawson's Creek =
tonight and listening to Joey Potter (Katie Holme's character) spout off =
a line of dialogue to the effect of "I feel like I just walked out of a =
Kafka novel" and I just died laughing. Not many people speak as smugly =
or securely as the characters of Dawsons Creek do, not many adults and =
certainly not many 16 year olds, and yet their dialogue continues to get =
more esoteric and ridiculous. That is another thing I love about =
Roswell. Shiri has stated this in interviews but she's absolutely right. =
The dialogue of Roswell comes from a really honest, truthful place and =
it's really effective. Liz was being a normal teenager when she got =
really emotional with her mom. Liz was trying to test the boundaries and =
claim a sense of self while feeling as if she could and should be able =
to do anything she wants with her body. Great scene and Shiri really =
rocked.
7) Nasedo and the discovery: I'm not 100% sure but that was Nasedo that =
found Liz and Max sleeping, right? This could be interesting. If it was, =
it adds some fuel to the "Nasedo will shapeshift into Tess" theory that =
many on the lists and boards have. Perhaps he sees what Max's weakness =
is and will somehow try and destroy the relationship to keep himself and =
the other aliens safe. I'm also still concerned for the safety of the =
humans if Nasedo knows the depths to which they care about each other. =
Also, any guesses as to what it was exactly that Liz and Max found? =
Perhaps an intergalactic telephone? A way to contact home? What?
Did anybody notice:
A) If I'm not mistaken, that was a Frida Kahlo painting hanging in Liz's =
room. Great choice of an artist and very appropriate for a forward =
thinker like Liz.
B) Maria's line when speaking to Alex : "If they[Max and Liz] do it, =
they're probably going to explode" This was hysterical and probably very =
true.=20
C) Mr. Evans and Mr. Parker were much more opening to talking to their =
kids than the mothers were. They just seemed more rational about the =
whole situation.
8) The episode as a whole and what it all means(minor spoilers for =
future episodes included) : Again, to reiterate, I thought the episode =
was very good and of course I LOVED the Max and Liz scenes, but I felt =
somewhat unsatisfied with the episode in terms of plotting is concerned. =
In a way, I felt that the episode pandered to the "teens and beautiful =
people running around and making out" device that Beverly Hills 90210, =
Charmed, Dawsons Creek and other "teen shows" have fallen victim to. =
Don't get me wrong... I LOVED the episode. In fact after every make out =
scene between Max and Liz, I could be heard shouting, "This is the best =
episode ever" but it really didn't have the resonance that say, "The Toy =
House" did. However, because I am a die hard Max and Liz 'shipper, I do =
have to say that this really was, in a very shallow and superficial way, =
my favorite episode :) Okay, so sue me. I am just really easy to please. =
:-) In terms of the big picture, I think it's really great that Max =
finally admitted that his biggest hope is that he and Liz could find a =
way to be together. That confession was a long time coming and certainly =
a contrast to the "step back" Max. I also think it's now going to be =
twice as hard for us to see Max "feeling a connection" to this Tess =
monster. I read in the spoiler board that Liz slaps Max after she sees =
him kissing Tess and it makes more sense to me now. Liz finally feels =
like she's reached this whole new amazing level with Max and that he's =
finally letting her in and then he has this inexpicable connection to =
someone else. Completely makes sense now. Anyhoo, great episode and I'm =
glad I'll have this one to get me through the next 6 weeks :(
Weekly and VERY shallow post : Okay, hot did Jason look? I swear my =
television melted. My sister and I were screaming, "Show me the 16 year =
old that has that body?" :) Loved his hair, loved the shirt removal =
scene (there is a GOD!) and of course the kissing scenes. I also loved =
the really sweet moments during the episode like Liz waking up in Max's =
arms, Max dropping to his knees in the desert as he kissed Liz and Alex =
offering himself as a "guinea pig" to Isabel's lips. This show really =
does keep getting better and better for us Jason Behr Fans :)=20
Renewal and time change: I'm still a little leery of Roswell's new time =
slot at 9:00pm on Mondays but 7th Heaven does have a very high Nielsen =
rating (higher than Buffy last week) so that might be good. Then again, =
no other show has survived that time so that makes me think the WB is =
trying to get rid of it. Let's keep writing those letters and show our =
support! I can't imagine the network not picking it up. There is still =
so much story to tell....

the episode was very good and of course I LOVED the Max and Liz scenes, =

Max "feeling a connection" to this Tess monster. I read in the =

Hey Mike,
I wouldn't mind doing the weekly newsletter. I mean I don't know how
well I would do but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I normally tape Roswell, watching it when I return from studying. In Ohio,
it normally aires at 9:00pm on Wednesday. That's not what appeared on my
tape when I got back. Will it be airing tonight? I know Dawson's Creek aired
at 10:00pm. I remember two weeks ago, because of a basketball game, BtVS
aired later on its schduled night, with Angel airing Wednesday.

Agreed -- this time we got to seem them acting more like brothers or
friends, rather than being crisis-driven. I'd wager that this is more what
they were like before the day Liz was shot, and everything got complicated
for them.
> 3) Michael and Maria : Thought they had some really great moments
As far as Michael, I'm just curious where he's dug up enough money to afford
a place on his on, albeit hardly anything desirable?

Well, he's made some big steps towards emotional growth, starting with The
Balance. He still has a long way to go, however, and unfortunately, will
probably never truly be 'normal' or feel normal. And the fact is, he
obviously loves Maria, and now they've shared (or at least he has)
soul-seeing moments with her.
> 4) Isabel and Alex : They didn't have many scenes together but I

This was just too funny. That kiss was almost painful to watch. But you're
right -- Alex does get some pretty lame lines, and I'm always weary of 'teen
bands' on a show. I mean, you don't want to get too corny like the Partridge
Family. ("Come on, get happy!")
> 5) Max and Liz : Ahh, the best for last. Despite the title of the
Okay, before I go too far in this -- and I haven't read many other posts
yet -- I think it is obvious that what Max and Liz were feeling was not 100%
human emotion. Their sensuality was caused by some outside agency, and not
of their free will. So the question is: was it Nasedo giving them these
feelings and thoughts, or was it just something within Max that sparked
Liz's feelings? Either way, it's still all too esoteric to even come up with
a good explanation for it.
Another possibility; Has Nasedo been *accidentally* killing many people
while trying to make this same 'connection' that Max and Liz has been able
to make? And if so, perhaps this kind of connection is, in fact, their key
to get home and/or discover themselves.
> respecting person alive during the '80's knows it can from "V"

Ah, I catch it every time it comes on the Sci-Fi channel. ;) Let's just
hope Liz isn't pregnant with [practically] Rosemary's Baby! LOL. If that
patch goes all the way around her neck, I guess we'll know. ;)
> thing I love about Roswell. Shiri has stated this in interviews

This is true. Kind of like 'V' was actually about Nazism, Roswell is
actually about teenagers discovering themselves (and growing up) and not so
much about the Aliens. Hence, this is why that plot always takes a back seat
to the relationships.
> This could be interesting. If it was, it adds some fuel to

Yes, I'm really sad that this spoiler information is so wide spread, that we
might as well not even spoiler space it. But if we go back to 'Nasedo' is
evil, then perhaps he/she will indeed try to come between Max/Michael/Iz and
their loved ones for whatever diabolical reason...

That's a good observation! I'll have to re-watch the episode to see it, but
for those of you who don't know who this person was, she was a Mexican
painter from the early 20th century that largely drew self-portraits of
herself with scenes of torture and pain.
> B) Maria's line when speaking to Alex : "If they[Max and Liz] do

This is another reason why I don't think their feelings were 100% genuine,
because I don't feel Liz would say 'ok' to Max so soon.
> scenes, but I felt somewhat unsatisfied with the episode in terms
> of plotting is concerned.
I disagree here, because it was those 'connections' that were driving the
story forward (finally), and now we know a little bit more of the whole
crash investigation and their origin. If they're from another *galaxy*,
clearly this is a species that has a technology far beyond our own.
> between Max and Liz, I could be heard shouting, "This is the

That's true; I think episodes like Toy House and Independence Day go way at
the top of the list, while SH will coast along the middle of the list.
> might be good. Then again, no other show has survived that time

Actually, I think because of it's popularity, it's being moved to improve --
and gain -- a larger audience. Many people who have watched it, probably did
so because they were already watching Dawson's Geek, but now perhaps more
7th Heaveners will spill over into the viewership as well.
Anyhoo, thanks for your lines!
