  102. Excellent, another popular web site/master on the list! I'm glad we've got
  103. some of you guys. While I enjoy the other Roswell lists, I really am looking
  104. forward to more intelligent discussion and friendly debate about various
  105. episodes, and talking about the great storylines, acting, etc., rather than
  106. just 'Max is a hottie' posts and a ton of FanFic (which is good in its own
  107. right, but there's plenty of it elsewhere).
  108.  
  109. We're going to be doing more contest type of things to help promote this
  110. particular mailing list, and hopefully get some great posts going on. If any
  111. of you have some good ideas on that, or would like to exchange some
  112. links/banners, just let me know.

  260. in last sunday's parade mag there was an interview with "Liz" and she said 
  261. that they (WB) signed Roswell for 22 eps, so they are not stopping Roswell 
  262. before then. the show is becoming sooo popular, i am sure the WB will be 
  263. returning Roswell next season. awhile ago, there was a big to do about BTVS 
  264. going to the Fox network. that will hurt the WB bad! so i am sure we will 
  265. have Roswell as long as the popularity of this show continues.
  266. oh, also, the WB is going to start selling Roswell merchandise soon. 
  267. Whoo-hoo!!!! can't wait.

  287. Thanks for starting a discussion about last night's ep. It was very 
  288. powerful! Big scary real-life topics, as you mentioned, and pretty 
  289. realistic handling I thought.
  290. How Michael was unable to share even with his best friends that he was 
  291. getting hit, maybe on a regular basis, was so sad and so realistic. I 
  292. felt he was embarrassed and ashamed of being such a victim, and feeling 
  293. helpless in such a hopeless situation. Here are Max & Is living a good 
  294. life with loving parents, and here's Michael in a horrible dump with a 
  295. mean drunk. He doesn't want his friends to pity him, and can't see that 
  296. they could actually help him.
  297. The scene where Michael is so rude and awful at the dinner table and 
  298. playing Monopoly with the family really showed how completely foreign 
  299. that kind of easy, loving family interaction is to him. He just doesn't 
  300. have a clue how to behave and is angry and resentful that everyone else 
  301. is so comfortable and happy.
  302. I liked how he tried to make it up later, by making a surprise breakfast, 
  303. and being so polite, calling Mr Evans "sir"! And finally letting people 
  304. help him. First going to Maria for comfort (that was a sweet scene) and 
  305. then asking for legal help on the emancipation thing.
  306.  
  307. Max and Isabel's love and concern for Michael was really shown well in 
  308. this ep too. How much they want to help him, and how their own lives 
  309. would change if he left. I loved when Max gave him all the stones and map 
  310. and stuff saying it all didn't mean anything without Michael.

  312. About Nacedo, we see that he has killed Hank to protect Michael, but I 
  313. don't think we have any clues to assume that the other deaths were 
  314. related to M, M & I. Especially Sheila Hubble's death, why would he have 
  315. killed her? Hubble wasn't even an alien hunter yet before her death, was 
  316. he? Maybe Nacedo didn't actually kill Hank! Maybe he found him dead, and 
  317. made the visit to the sheriff and buried the body to take any suspicion 
  318. off Michael about the disappearance. I still don't like to think that 
  319. Nacedo is actually a killer.
  320.  
  321. My big disappointment with the ep, was that there was no reaction or 
  322. repercussions following Max's astounding actions during Blind Date. Yes, 
  323. the kiss is mentioned, and Max says he knows they have things to discuss. 
  324. But what about some reaction from the kids at school, or some mention of 
  325. it from Michael & Is? Or some confusion on Liz's part, like does he 
  326. remember what happened or doesn't he?? Or some confusion or guilt or 
  327. embarrassment from Max? Maybe it'll be dealt with in 2 weeks, but I still 
  328. think it should have been touched on last night.

  371. but with ref to Mrs Hubble, she was killed in the  early 1970's, our trio 
  372. came out of there pod in the late "80's.

  374. impending baby, have anything/threat to M&M&I?

  403.      How are you? I just have to say that as a DIE HARD Max and Liz fan =
  404. that I thought tonight's episode was incredible! It was so moving in =
  405. many ways and it was really a wonderful character analysis and piece on =
  406. Michael. Here are just some thoughts:
  407. =20
  408. 1) Saint Liz : Okay, just to get this out of the way, I really am quite =
  409. disappointed that Liz wasn't upset with Max at all after his drunken =
  410. stupor fiasco last week. I wanted her to acknowledge how hurt she was =
  411. but she didn't even mention it. I really hope this isn't going to =
  412. degenerate into a "step on Liz" kind of a thing. Perhaps the Tess =
  413. monster's arrival will allow Liz to get genuinely angry with Max and let =
  414. her be able to vent a little.=20
  415. =20
  416. 2) Tug of War Max : Again, Max is forced to choose between Liz and his =
  417. alien responsibility. The scene in the hallway where he desperately =
  418. wanted to talk to Liz while Isabel demanded he go speak to Michael =
  419. demonstrates, yet again, his eternal struggle. He really is between a =
  420. rock and a hard place with no real viable ways to balance everything =
  421. out.=20
  422. =20
  423. 3) Amy and the Sheriff : I am totally LOVING the relationship between =
  424. Amy and Sheriff Valenti. Although I can totally sympathize with Maria =
  425. and her awkwardness (there's got to be an "ick" factor catching your mom =
  426. and her boyfriend messing around), it's interesting to see the role =
  427. reversal between mother and daughter. I'm also enjoying seeing William =
  428. Sadler get in the forefront a little more.=20
  429. =20
  430. 4) Michael and the family dinner from hell : Another wonderfully written =
  431. scene by the writers of Roswell. Could you not feel the tension in the =
  432. air as The Evan's and Michael sat through dinner and Monopoly together? =
  433. Little things like manners and dinner rules are so secondary to most =
  434. people but it was obvious how little Hank has done to help truly "raise" =
  435. or "rear" Michael in any way. Michael was eating like a prisoner, or =
  436. someone who has grown accustomed to fighting for food, and it was just =
  437. so out of place in the formal setting of the Evans dinner table. I think =
  438. that's what made that scene so overwhelmingly sad for me. In just that =
  439. one scene alone, the audience was able to feel the years of neglect and =
  440. lovelessness that have plagued Michael his whole life. It's one thing to =
  441. hear Michael talk about his crappy homelife but it's quite another to =
  442. see it; it's not pretty.

  444.  I feel like I understand the character of Michael so much better now. I =
  445. understand his need, not want, but need to go "home." An inherent need =
  446. to find a place where he belongs and feels safe and nurtured. It's a =
  447. wonder that Michael has lasted this long in that awful place. I also =
  448. think that a new level of the aliens' relationship was introduced. I =
  449. really got a feeling that Max and Isabel for the first time, are =
  450. recognizing their guilty for having a "normal" life. I think they've =
  451. been sweeping things under the rug, trying hard not to think about how =
  452. difficult life is for Michael here until the physical proof stared them =
  453. in the face and they could no longer avoid it. Their life really is =
  454. "Cherry Colas and high school fantasies" compared to Michael's.
  455. =20
  456. 5) Michael and Maria : Their rain scene was absolutely beautiful. When =
  457. Maria just held Michael as he cried like a baby was the most touching =
  458. and moving scene that they have shared thus far- I would also debate =
  459. that it was also their sexiest. This breakdown of Michael's was a very =
  460. long time coming and I was really glad to see him open himself up to =
  461. Maria in such an intimate way. The walls crumbled and the facades fell =
  462. (on both their parts) and a real bond was formed between the two. I akin =
  463. this to the opening scene in the pilot when Max saved Liz. That was the =
  464. first time he had ever let a human see who and what he really was, and I =
  465. think that Maria and Michael sort of went through that tonight. He =
  466. finally could just let everything out and "feel" pain and hurt and let =
  467. Maria witness it. I hope that their relationship will continue to grow =
  468. in this manner.=20
  469. =20
  470. 6) The aliens : I thought the goodbye scene between Max and Michael was =
  471. really moving in many ways. I could feel how much Max cares about =
  472. Michael but I don't think he's ever really told him before that he feels =
  473. like they're family. Michael seemed genuinely shocked when Max said =
  474. that, and I think it affected him in ways he didn't expect. I also think =
  475. this scene showed how Max, Isabel and Michael are evolving at different =
  476. levels. Remember in the pilot how the three aliens were prepared to just =
  477. leave and abandon everything when they thought that Valenti  was on to =
  478. them? At this point, there is no way that Max could leave Liz nor could =
  479. Isabel leave her mother so coldly without explanation. Michael on the =
  480. other hand was fully prepared to go without as much as a word to anyone. =
  481. Like he said in the "Morning After", "You always have to be ready to =
  482. pack a bag and go." I think this really shows that Max and Isabel, since =
  483. the pilot, have grown while Michael was/is still stuck. Hopefully his =
  484. emancipation will propel him forward emotionally and mentally.=20
  485. =20
  486. 7) The goodbye gift: Was anybody else touched by this gesture? I really =
  487. felt like Max and Isabel gave Michael all of their "findings"(in the =
  488. sense that the pendant,book and the rocks are the only physical proof of =
  489. their past that they have managed to uncover) to Michael as a way of =
  490. saying, "Take it because without you, the search is futile. It doesn't =
  491. matter if we don't all do it together." I also felt like it was their =
  492. way of saying to Michael that he has to find his own way, his own =
  493. balance, and that there was nothing left for them to do for him now. He =
  494. would have to choose what path he wanted to take.=20
  495. =20
  496. 8) Nasedo : Okay, like all of you, I was completely spooked out by the =
  497. ending. I am also more confused than ever. How long exactly has he been =
  498. watching the aliens? Why hasn't he helped Michael before? I can justify =
  499. his killing Hank but what about all of the other innocent people he's =
  500. killed? Have we seen him before in the form of someone else? The ending =
  501. was incredible and I can't wait to see where this goes.=20

  503. Minor observations :
  504. A) "Liz, this is your brain on Max..." Genius line and so accurate. I =
  505. think for many of us Jason fans, that's exactly how we feel!:)
  506. B) Did anyone else feel that the Max and Liz scene on the roof was way =
  507. too short? It felt edited and unfinished.=20
  508. C) Where has the Native American officer gone? We haven't seen him in =
  509. awhile. I wonder if this is intentional or not...he did recognize =
  510. Isabel's pendant....

  513. to say again how beautiful Jason is. My God. I loved his pants =

  519. All in all, I thought this was an AMAZING episode and a great character =
  520. piece on Michael. Brendan and Majandra were both fabulous tonight! I =
  521. also really enjoyed Diane and William-they have wonderful chemistry and =
  522. are a nice contrast to the sort of typical parents that the Evans' =
  523. present. My only criticism is that the writers have to try and find a =
  524. way to balance the stories out where both Max and Liz 'shippers and =
  525. Michael and Maria 'shippers can be satisfied. I know we had A LOT of Max =
  526. and Liz last week in "The Blind Date" (to the exclusion of Michael and =
  527. Maria), but they had practically nothing this week which doesn't really =
  528. make sense in terms of plotting and consistency.  Oh, and where was Alex =
  529. and Kyle? Get these hottie boys some storylines NOW! Hope to hear your =
  530. comments! This show is just the best! Gina :)

  619. like a prisoner, or someone who has grown accustomed to fighting for =
  620. food, and=20
  621. it was just so out of place in the formal setting of the Evans dinner =
  622. table. I=20
  623. think that's what made that scene so overwhelmingly sad for me. In just =

  625. scene alone, the audience was able to feel the years of neglect and =
  626. lovelessness=20
  627. that have plagued Michael his whole life. It's one thing to hear Michael =
  628. talk=20
  629. about his crappy homelife but it's quite another to see it; it's not=20

  641. I really got a feeling that Max and Isabel for the first time, are =

  643. their guilty for having a "normal" life. I think they've been =
  644. sweeping=20
  645. things under the rug, trying hard not to think about how difficult life =
  646. is for=20
  647. Michael here until the physical proof stared them in the face and they =
  648. could no=20
  649. longer avoid it. Their life really is "Cherry Colas and high school =
  650.  
  651. fantasies" compared to Michael's.</FONT></DIV>

  655. absolutely beautiful. When Maria just held Michael as he cried like a =

  657. the most touching and moving scene that they have shared thus far- I =

  659. debate that it was also their sexiest. This breakdown of Michael's was a =

  661. long time coming and I was really glad to see him open himself up to =
  662. Maria in=20
  663. such an intimate way. The walls crumbled and the facades fell (on both =
  664. their=20
  665. parts) and a real bond was formed between the two. I akin this to the =
  666. opening=20
  667. scene in the pilot when Max saved Liz. That was the first time he had =
  668. ever let a=20
  669. human see who and what he really was, and I think that Maria and Michael =
  670. sort of=20
  671. went through that tonight. He finally could just let everything out and=20
  672. "feel" pain and hurt and let Maria witness it. I hope that =
  673. their=20
  674. relationship will continue to grow in this manner. </FONT></DIV>

  686. scene showed how Max, Isabel and Michael are evolving at different =

  688. Remember in the pilot how the three aliens were prepared to just leave =

  690. abandon everything when they thought that Valenti  was on to them? =

  692. point, there is no way that Max could leave Liz nor could Isabel leave =

  694. mother so coldly without explanation. Michael on the other hand was =

  696. prepared to go without as much as a word to anyone. Like he said in the=20
  697. "Morning After", "You always have to be ready to pack a =
  698. bag and=20
  699. go." I think this really shows that Max and Isabel, since the =
  700. pilot, have=20
  701. grown while Michael was/is still stuck. Hopefully his emancipation will =
  702. propel=20
