someone posted previously a quote by guza they had read in some

what

I disagree...I mean maybe it wasn't his business before he found out, but
after....? Well, what I'm saying I guess is that he's seen the effects of rape
and he doesn't like them AT ALL!! So, it's only natural that he wants to
protect his mother. He compares Laura back then in his mind to Liz, and he
has every right to do that. He resents Luke for actually raping her, and he
resents Laura for letting him get away with it. And I must admit, that scene
with Luke and Laura today was great...I mean Laura is totally in denail, but
it was great the way she stood up to Luke like that. I didn't think she had
it in her.
On another note, I'm really sick of this whole Katherine thing. It's like,
she's dead, get over it! But, I may be wrong here, but I think I read
somewhere that at Stefan's trial, everyone finds out that he's Nikolas'
father! I'd like to see Luke's reaction to that!
One last thing...Sonny DESPERATLY NEEDS a storyline, and I don't mean that
thing with Carlos and Jason and the 'organization' It's like, they bring him
back for 2 weeks, and they don't ever give him anything good to do?? What's up
with that?? Well, of course that one moment with Brenda was priceless and

But he's *not* protecting his mother--he's judging her, and
viewing her entire life with Luke through that single lens.
I understand his reaction, but I don't agree with it. Liz
was dead on the money today when she suggested that Lucky
was doing a disservice to both Laura and Liz by suggesting
that there's nothing *after* rape.

I thought that scene was great, especially when Laura almost slapped

yesterday's episode w/Laura skating around whether she was "raped" by
Luke & saying they just had one bad nite while they were falling in

trying to answer up to the the "seduction scene" (which years ago,

i was just sitting there staring at the screen saying, "no...don't do

you were doing so well, and NOW you're going to back-pedal from
admitting it was rape back to portraying it as a seduction?!? NOOOOO!"

it was one thing to call date rape seduction back then, and quite another=

I don't think it's the same thing at ALL, though. Lucy went through round
after round after round of being the town laughing stock and joke. Every
time she'd almost gain some semblance of respectability, something would
happen (usually a dumb plan of her own making) and she'd be the town
laughing stock again.
There was NOTHING quick about Lucy's redemption (and according to the
conversation over on K&L "redeemed" is not necessarily the word fans use to
describe her still... especially not these days). Hell, if she and Kevin
hadn't moved to PC, IMO she is STILL not redeemed, according to many
esteemed (and frequently hypocritical) residents of Port Chuck.
Besides, whatever Lucy did, she didn't try to undercut profits from an AIDS
benefit (yes, I know I harp on that one, but for me that escapade will
ALWAYS be who Katherine Bell is, and IMO they NEVER did an honest job of
explaining or exploring her 'redemption' and it happened WAY too fast to be
even remotely believable).
>librarian who was working w/Kevin (Terry's Kevin) to try & kill

Lucy paid for her mistakes over and over and over again. And usually in
extremely painful ways. Three miscarriages and BJ were awfully extreme
prices to pay for her screw ups -- especially since she never got away with
anything she ever did before that, anyway. Katherine was never held up to
the kind of public ridicule, or primal debasement that Lucy was.
It's kind of like Felicia said to Katherine at Kat's bday party back in
1994 (just before Lois jumped out of the cake): "Lucy's almost earned her
right to snoop."
IMO, Katherine never paid her dues. And they went from her blackmailing
Ned and being Damian's sidekick (which was, IMO, far more entertaining than
anything she's had to do since then), to her being a saint. That makes me
bonkers.
Aside from the fact that I think she was INFINITELY less interesting as a
good guy than she was as a bad guy, I think, for many of us, we really
needed to see her pay (in some way or another) for the terrible things she
did in order for us to have any desire to see her eventually win.
IMO, it's true with all characters. I think Carly is the best example on
the canvas right now. I mean, no matter what she has done in the past, I
don't think most of us want to see her lose Michael (a few of us do, but I
think that's an extreme minority). Because the audience was given access
to what Carly went through, we could see something in her to empathize (or
at least pity) in her. And eventually that made it possible to get past
some of the more despicable things she'd done in the past.
She's not totally sympathetic, by any stretch. Neither is Lucy. And, IMO,
that is at least half of what makes them two of my favorite female
characters to watch. They are highly complicated and multi-layered.
Katherine wasn't. They went from her being a bad guy (a sometimes annoying
and two dimensional one, though usually not too bad), to being a good guy.
There was no gray area, no texture, no conflict, no nothing.
That doesn't make for convincing redemption. It didn't feel like she
earned it. It felt like it was handed to her, and that made me dislike her
all the more -- especially as she trashed Lucy along the way after we'd
seen Lucy suffer (in one way or another) for YEARS.
I was a Mary Beth Evans fan back on Days. I loved Patch and Kayla. But
Katherine and Stefan were not the same thing. No matter how much chemistry
two actors have together, it's not just the actors that have chemistry --
it's the characters. And I never saw any chemistry between Katherine and
Stefan, even though I spent years seeing PLENTY of it between Steve and Kayla.
I liked Katherine as a character MUCH more (on her own) than I liked Kayla
-- she was more complex, darker, more capable of being unpredictable, more
nefarious, more dramatic, less perfect, etc. It was the pairing with
Stefan that felt like a cheap stunt at recapturing 'days' gone by, and
snagging former Days fans at the expense of more compelling drama (Stefan's
relationships with both Laura and Bobbie are much more complex and
dangerous and fascinating to watch, IMO).
It just felt very contrived and insulting from the moment he shot her. The
first time scenes between them felt truly intense and awesome were the
night she died when she was flipping out over Laura. THAT was amazing --
especially since I've NEVER felt that way about those two characters before.
BUT because I've seen the actors pull off the incredible before, it wasn't
a total surprise.

The part that annoys me about the Lucky/Liz situation is that Audrey
hasn't called the police. She is being a complete idiot about Liz's rape
but she is right about Liz & Lucky are too young to be living on the
street. I can understand the Spencers because they aren't a normal family
and poor Lucky never had to live a normal life. However, Audrey keeps
saying the right things but never has taken any actions. She is right if
anything happens to Liz, Liz's parents would kill her. This is the most
stupid part. She refuses to take any actions of this matter. They are
ruining the character of Audrey.

If Audrey would have called the police, Liz would just runaway again,
this time, probably not keeping in touch. It was a no win situation. And
for ruining Audrey's character, she hasn't had a storyline since 1970
something, so I don't think it would be ruining her character at all,
this is giving her depth....finally! Laura's the only one who seems to
have any backbone in this story right now, but that's only because she's
been outta the picture for a year & is virtually clueless as to what's
been going on. I can't believe that Laura still hasn't seen Nikolas yet
and spoken to him about the shooting!!!!!! Don't y'all think there's so
much story for Laura right now, they don't know what direction to go in?

Firstly, maybe she would run away again but I doubt she would leave town.
Besides if they did Luke and Laura would be involved and probably find
them before they could get into any trouble. Luke is still the master.
Audrey is stupid to be blackmailed by a 15 year old child. This whole
story annoys me totally. I prefer seeing Carly/Bobbie/Jason. As for the
Laura story, I completely agree she has so much to catch up on Nicholaus,
Stefan, Luke, Lucky, Bobbie/Carly does she know or care? I am so glad
Laura is back.

I have to disagree w/this one. Remember, LUKE, & yeah he is the master
(but hasn't his face looked gaunt lately?) but HE taught Lucky how to
hide out & get away w/out anyone knowing anything. And Lucky COULD
already of left town, if not for Liz & Luke would be no wiser, he's
clueless know as to where he's hiding out....remember he keeps calling
Audrey & asking if Liz called.
< I prefer seeing Carly/Bobbie/Jason.
This once great storyline, IMHO, that it hit its peak (except for the
paternity of Michael), but I can't believe they're going to make Carly
battle it out St. Robin over Jason. That's where I think that story's
heading. What happened to the sniping w/Bobbie & Carly? Bobbie seemed to
ACCEPT Carly a little bit too soon for me, especially since we waited SO
LONG for the other shoe to drop.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree about this. But I agree Luke has
been looking gaunt lately. This concerns me a little because he isn't
exactly a spring chicken. Besides last time I noticed an actor not
looking so good was Michael Zaslow and look what has happened to him.
As for the Carly/Jason storyline, I think it is probably ending because
the spoilers say that the paternity is coming out soon. As for the story
with Bobbie and Carly. I like it because Bobbie is showing compassion
which is a strong trait of hers and because she has had a connection to
Carly before she knew the whole story. Besides when she came by the day
of the anniversary of B.J.'s many of the things Bobbie told her were right
on the money. I think that Bobbie is supporting Carly now because she
needs her just like she has "forgiven" Luke. However, remember when she
confronted Luke about the situation she gave a Thanksgiving scenerio where
she said Luke would think everything was okay and forgotten but that would
never happen. Bobbie still carries around a lot of anger towards those
two however they are both in times of crisis and this is not the time to
deal with her emotions. Afterall, it took about 20 years for Luke and
Laura to start to deal with the rape.

i completely disagree. remember the lucky and emily storyline, YEARS

Okay, I have this capacity to ignore history which makes no sense or that
is stupid to me. Therefore, the whole Lucky/Emily thing I have no
recollection of. I found that story so idiotic, Lucky could outwit his
parents for that long. Give me a break.
As for your solution for the Lucky/Liz story, I agree 1000%. I think Luke
might have even left Lucky alone at Audrey's house.

Audrey can't deal w/it herself, so therefore, SHE can't help Lizzie at

Just finished Thursday's episode of GH and gotta say how much I enjoy
this darker Tony as opposed to the sappy Tony of oh-so-many years past.
That Alan was the one to give Tony the bad news concerning his hand was
perfect - here are two physicians, one the drug addict the other a
kidnapper (both with God complexes) confronting each other. I had to
chuckle when Monica walked in and Tony asked her, "How is it up there

surprise, surprise, but i'm going to leap to his defense here! :)
i saw the interview, and i didn't get that impression at all. he struck me
as someone whose tendency is to be quiet and private, but who became
overwhelmed by the phenomenon that is sonny, and still hasn't quite
adapted to it. i think the only reason he was so pro-sonny (the character)
is because he knew his audience, and what they wanted to hear. i don't
think he really believes that sonny is the pinnacle of his career, and the
best character he could ever hope to play, or else why would he have
left gh?
i was disappointed in the INTERVIEW, because it didn't really TELL us
anything, but i wasn't disappointed in HIM...
julie
>>
I know this is a little old, but I'm very far behind, and just catching up
with mail. I did want to add two cents about Maurice.
I think he is the last person I would think of as being stuck on himself. I
was fortunate enough to meet him while touring the set last year. He was
almost painfully shy, and very sweet.
I think he has been totally taken aback by the popularity of Sonny and Brenda
as well. It almost surprises him that people know who he is and enjoy his
work.
We met him while the ABC Daytime to Remember shows were on. Here's how my
friend described the meeting:
******************************************************************************
******************
After lunch, in the hall containing the dressing rooms, Wally spotted a pal of
his. "You guys want to meet Maurice?" he asked. (Duh!)
Maurice was wearing one of Sonny's Armani suits, brown with an olive shirt.
He is as short as reported, about 5'6" and was clean-shaven that day. He was
very pleasant (gave us that smile) and seemed happy to meet us, but is
painfully shy. He had an expression like, "I really want to say something,
but I just can't think of a single thing."
After babbling about his work on GH, inspiration came to me. I inquired if I
could ask him a question. He hesitated only slightly, probably thinking "Here
comes the Sonny&Brenda question" but said "Sure."
What I asked was how he felt about "Daytime to Remember" rerunning a couple of
his Nico Kelly episodes from AMC. Honestly, he lit up like the proverbial
Christmas tree, responding, "They are? Really? Did they already show them?"
I told him that they were going to be on April 14 and 15, and he said he'd
have to be sure to tape them. He eagerly asked if they were Nico and Cecily
episodes (they were a hot-tempered couple who were great at comic squabbling
and making up) and was surprised to learn that it was Nico and Julie instead.
Wally was completely lost here, and Anne explained that Julie was played by
Lauren Holly which was probably the reason those episodes were chosen.
Maurice said to Wally, "But Nico and Cecily were really popular" in an excited
but almost humble way, as though he were a newcomer and Wally the old pro.
Then he looked at Anne and me and asked, "We were, weren't we?" What a guy!!!
Here he is, the hottest man on TV, the center of daytime's most passionate
love story, and he doesn't have a conceited bone in his body.
Maurice answered my question directly, "I guess I'll be a little ashamed of
the acting." Then he ran his hand lightly over the top of his head, admitting,
"And I had a little more hair then." Then he laughed.
******************************************************************************
******************
I really thought he was one of the most down to earth and genuine GH stars I
met. Then again almost all of them were wonderful.....

THURSDAY, June 4
Lucky and Liz were taken to the police,
who called Luke and Audrey. Luke confronted Lucky
for what he had said to Laura, but Lucky had no
regrets and made it clear that Luke and Laura were in
no position to lecture him about anything. As a
result, Lucky was even more resistant to returning
home now that Laura was back. Meanwhile,
Elizabeth honored her deal with Sarah and returned
home. Audrey laid down new ground rules with Liz,
but promised to make a better effort at understanding
her situation. Liz then told Lucky that she was
staying home and asked him not to go far. Sonny
made a cryptic call to Jason about Carlos and urged
him to leave town and meet with him. Carly allowed
Jason to take Michael with him. Robin realized that
Jason was going to see Sonny but did not press for
details. Tony learned from Alan that the damage
suffered to his hand was so severe that it might end
his career as a neurosurgeon. Tony then scoffed at
Alan's advice by making it clear that he was in no
mood to listen to a drug addict. After Bobbie refused
his request to see Lucas, Tony made a deal with
Luke where he would spy on Helena if Luke could
arrange for him to see Lucas. Monica again accused
Alan of having an affair with Amy but he claimed that
Amy simply had a crush on him. Still thrown by
Katherine's death, Mac and Felicia found a way to
spend some no-pressure time together.
What's Coming Friday.......
Laura tells Nikolas her side of the rape. Jerry is
attacked! Will Carly accept AJ's sympathy?

V is playing matchmaker, by the way. She wants Felicia and
Mac to go through with the wedding.

I dunno. I'm kind of holding my breath, waiting for
something interesting to happen. But V was on, and Justus
is back, so that was cool. Mac, Felicia, and V had an
interesting conversation--after Katherine's memorial
service, they don't believe that Stefan killed her.
However, they don't think that Luke would have loosened the
railing, just hoping for a random Cassadine to fall. So
they're stumped <g>.
>but did Lucky go back home or what?
Nope. Luke is *really* frustrated. And Bobbie is pissed

be thrilled when she finds out about their new arrangement.

He wasn't under arrest. Taggart called Luke and Audrey to
take their respective wards home. Luke and Lucky fought,
then Lucky took off. He went by Audrey's to pick up Liz,
but Liz told him that she'd decided to stick around with
her grandmother. So he took off again.

Date: 06 Jun 1998 20:06:57 EDT
Again, I'm a little late, but I thought everyone would enjoy this write up by
a friend of mine in response to Sonny's return:
Someone wrote:
> There is one thing about Sonny's return that I just don't like. For the
>most part it has been ok, but I didn't like the way he reacted to the news
>about Brenda. I don't know what it was, but it just didn't feel right to

Someone replied:
>> Well, Sonny's reaction was very contained, but that is just very Sonny. He
always (well, at least almost always) plays things like that really close
to the vest.
>>
This is what my friend wrote about the same situation. I might add totally
independently, in other words nothing was forwarded to her from this list or
anything like that. This was to our own smaller group. Anyway here goes:
******************************************************************************
******************
Yes it's true. I'm upset with Sonny.
He comes in. Hugs Robin. Hugs Jason. Plays with the kid. Gets freaked and
furious because ROBIN was held captive. Looks fierce like he's going to take
Tony Jones out himself. Make cappuchino. Or does he make dinner first? He
talks about his new place. Talks about his employees etc... blah blah blah.
Robin tells him about Brenda. He acts shocked but not freaked. Acts like
he's happy she's in love with Jax. Mentions liver lips name (YUCK) blah blah
blah and more blah. Tells Robin he loves her. Tells Jason not to tell Bren
the truth. Some more blah blah blah.
THAT IS NOT THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE HAPPENED.
Here's the REAL way it happened. All that stuff we watched today was fake
except for the expressions on his face. So, forget that dialogue. Here is
what was REALLY said.
Jason opens the door.
J: Sonny!
S: Where's Brenda?
R: Sonny? You're here!
S: Robin, tell me where Brenda is.
J: There are some things you need to know ...
S: Know? There's something I need to know? Has something happened to
Brenda?
R: Sit down Sonny.
S: NO! Tell me now. ... (he sees the baby) ... Who is that? (his eyes jump
with excitement)
J: That's Michael ....
S: WHAT? Did Brenda have....?
J: No! That's my son.
(Sonny is crestfallen and devastated)
S: I thought ... I mean, sometimes I imagined Brenda and ..... (he tries to
pull himself together) What were you going to tell me about Brenda?
R: Brenda was devastated when you left her at the altar. She pretended she
was OK, but she wasn't. She had lost the love of her life so her life meant
nothing to her.
---Sonny sits on the couch while Robin continues ---
R: Her business manager stole all her money and her loneliness and despair
was too much. She had a breakdown. She destroyed the Jax cosmetic set and
had to be taken away in restraints. Jax got her out for Christmas, but she
couldn't be left alone so he asked me to stay with her. She was paranoid and
not living in reality, it was horrible. (Sonny looks stricken and upset. He
realizes it was ALL HIS FAULT AND HE NEEDS TO FIX IT. Robin continues ...)
but eventually she picked herself up and pulled herself together.
S: How?
R: She decided to live again. She didn't know why you would make love to her
one night and talk about your future together and a few hours later ditch
her. But she decided to move on. A better and stronger person. Somehow I
think she figured out why you did it. And somehow understood.
S: Where is she?
R: She's in Malibu. With Jax.
S: (his eyes are blazing). I knew it wouldn't be long before Jax moved in on
my woman.
R: That's not fair Sonny. Brenda mourned you, month after month after month.
But when it was obvious you were never coming back and fix this mess you made,
Brenda decided to move on with her life. Jax was with her the entire time she
suffered. After a while, she fell in love with him again. She tried to
convince Jax to marry her again but he said no. He didn't want to be second
choice.
S: Then why is he in Malibu with her?
R: Because he's in love with her. No matter what. He realized he can't live
without her. He figured that out when she and Jason were in that plane crash
and ...
S: WHAT???????
J: Calm down. We're OK. She reinjured her hip, but we survived. We talked
about you some. She told me about the wire. You know, Sonny, I never
realized that she thought she was trying to protect you. It was misguided and
stupid, but in her mind, she was protecting you. Much like you were trying to
protect her.
---Sonny is really looking miserable now---
R: Sonny, you left her. You left her at the alter. She built her life
around you. She was willing to give up everything for you and you devastated
her. Jax was there for her from the beginning. He helped her through the
humiliation she felt after you jilted her. He helped her through the
breakdown. Jax is the one that has been there for her during the hard times.
Not you. It's only natural she turned to him. And it's inevitable they'll
reunite. And probably get married. Brenda needs to be loved. She needs to
be in a committed relationship. If Jax offers, she's going to take it.
S: Not if I have anything to say about it.
R: I don't want to hurt you, Sonny, but you have to stay away from her.
She's been through too much. She's just now getting her life back together
again.
S: Brenda and I belong together. I never knew how much until I left. It's
true, I thought I was protecting her, but ... that's the REAL reason I came
back. Not because of Carlos. But because I'm going to reclaim Brenda.
J: Do you think that's a good idea?
S: (Sonny has that look on his face like the time he was listening to
Brenda's answering machine message over and over again while they played "I've
got a spell on you".) Brenda's in my blood. I'm back. And I'm going to get
what's mine.

Well, I know that if that had happened, I would have been PISSED.
And not as though anyone could EVER mistake me for a Jax and Brenda fan,
but if Sonny had come back to town with THAT as his primary objective, I
would have volunteered to hold him while Jax beat the crap out of him.
And then I would have done the same to Guza for what that would have done
to Sonny.
I think what is wrong with that whole scenario is that, when it comes to
Brenda, Sonny's feelings are too complex. Yes, he loves her. But, IMO,
part of him fears, resents, and maybe even hates her. And no matter what,
he still doesn't trust her.
Jason and Robin are safe. Brenda never was, and that's why it was always
so much harder for him to be emotionally open and honest with her than it
was with anyone else.
Of all of the characters involved, Sonny is the one I love the best, and,
IMO, that scenario would have been totally and painfully out of character
for him.
And, FWIW, I think he was devestated by the news of what happened to
Brenda. He just handled it the same way he handled Stone's death:
silently. I think that's how we know when something touches him that
deeply -- he can't articulate it.

hi all...just read the lastest SID abc issue this weekend, and
have a few tidbits to share...but first (and this may have been
mentioned already, but..) congrats to taiyin, for kevin and lucy's
lighthouse being listed as one of four pc-related web sites
to visit! :)

regarding kat..."despite the apparent death of katherine last week,
abc insists that her portrayer, mary beth evans, still is with the show."=
this may be at least partially explained by a comment by guza in a
later article that "there will be some interesting, newly-created
flashbacks that will provide a window into stefan and katherine's =
relationship and into certain things that are happening in the present.
but the key thing to remember is that, above all, stefan cassadine is a =
tragic figure. in a cosmic sense, stefan is doomed never to be happy."
so...would they really keep her around just to create "flashbacks", or
are we to presume she isn't really dead? regardless, if we can take
guza at his word (which i'm STILL not so sure about) it doesn't sound
like we have to worry about kat and bat part 2, regardless. :)
there's a nice article about lizzie, where rebecca herbst admits she was =
pissed when she got the role of lizzie because she really wanted to be =
sarah (can you IMAGINE?!?) but that she's loving the role now, and
"couldn't be happier to know that lucky and lizzie will eventually fall
in love," even though she's 20 and jonathan jackson is 15. and she =
and ingo are indeed broken up, although the two are still friends.
"things just didn't work out."
there was some sonny stuff, covered in a previous post.
there's a first anniversary retrospective on pc, and lynn herring
talks about how much fun they all had when her husband was
playing rex, saying "it's a shame that rex had to end up being such
a bad guy. but i think [the writers] have plans for him to come out
of prison in some capacity." also a long, but relatively uninformative,
article about frank.
there's a bunch of stuff on the daytime emmys.
and finally, the gh and pc "summer previews":
gh: =
- a surprise visitor draws attention at the nurses ball =
- it's decision time yet again for brenda. only this time, in the moment=
when she has to face the prospect of losing sonny or jax, she will be
forced to act on impulse
- alexis' unholy alliance with luke hangs over her head as she attempts =
to rekindle her romance with ned. meanwhile, luke struggles to regain =
laura's trust
- thoughts of katherine torment stefan as he struggles to overcome his
grief
- emily takes an interest in a new career for herself in the hopes of
impressing =
nikolas
- elizabeth and lucky give up on their plans to run away and give in to
their
growing feelings for one another
- bobbie takes a walk on the wild side when she becomes involved with
jerry,
whose underhanded business dealings bring about the fall of the house of=
jacks.
- robin's decision to take jason back causes friction between mac and
felicia
- a surprise visit from aj leaves carly worried that robin is taking her
place in
michael's life. then, after weeks of waiting in the mental institution,=
carly
finally receives word of her fate. (oh, elsewhere it says she'll be on
maternity
leave for 4 months--2 off entirely, and 2 of working 1 day a week. doesn=
't
say
when, but her baby is due on july 16)
- alan's addiction worsens as he begins to lose control in front of many =
of
pc's esteemed residents. look for the q's to circle the wagons when the=
y
finally learn the truth.
pc:
(you better sit down--even though it's been discussed already, you won't
like
this one...)
- when new evidence implicates kevin in the murders, "lucy wants to make =
a
public statement of her faith in him," reveals headwriter lynn latham. "=
so
lucy
has the idea of horning in on mac and felicia's july wedding." in
addition, latham
says eve's "vicious battle" with lucy threatens eve and scotty's
relationship
- hoping to cheat matt out of the q residency, chris uses matt's affair
with ellen
to get them in hot water
- courtney causes trouble for joe and karen
- after frank scares away julie, he benefits from karen's compassion.
that's about it!

even MORE of a travesty than the whole leaving-at-the-altar mess,
and i would have been LIVID. as i've said before, i was actually =
REMARKABLY pleasantly surprised with the way that last s&b scene
was done. i was happy to see guza and company take the high
road, and stop the complete trashing of sonny's character that's been
going on since he left. the man's going to leave--let's let him leave =
with a little dignity.
that said, i was going to write today anyway, because i just read the

i was absolutely FURIOUS because they're teasing us all again,
and dropping hints that this high road treatment will NOT continue
much longer. or perhaps i'm just over-reacting. you be the judge.
we're told:
"later this month, when maurice benard reprises his role of sonny
for the second arc of his short-term return to GH, sonny's future with
brenda will be entirely out of his hands--and in hers. by the time the
dust settles, she will have proven once and for all whether she can
ever leave him behind and move forward with her friend and former
husband Jax. "in the first arc, Brenda had time to think about what
she was going to do, then say good-bye to sonny," notes headwriter
bob guza. "but in the second arc, she doesn't get a chance to think
first. this time, she has to face the prospect of losing either sonny or=
jax, and she has to act impulsively on her heart. it's one thing for
brenda to decide that jax is better for her," he adds. "but it's =
another thing entirely to see what happens in the heat of the moment."
GRRRRR!!! i am SOOOOOOOO sick of this, i really am. i'm just not =
interesting in seeing this SAME thing played out again and again
and AGAIN. she CHOSE...she said good-bye...WHAT'S LEFT?!?
i couldn't believe it. but maybe i'm overreacting, and expecting the
worst, like i did last time. i hope so, anyway, 'cause this sounds
pretty nauseating to me...

p.s. i have more SID stuff, but i'll post a separate message. i just
figured
i'd include this stuff here, since it was on-topic.

Wow, is this a first, I'm agreeing 100% w/you guys. Since Maurice/SONNY
will only be on such a short time, I think Guza did the very best thing
having Sonny & Brenda really TALK for the 1st time in their history. I
also think it seemed to prove that Brenda really has changed & grown up
a bit. It still would be fabulous if Brenda had one last fling w/Sonny,
although I DO happen to love her & Jax together, but hey, this is the
soaps, you need to throw a wrench into the story, although, I think
Jerry will do that one, all by himself! It will be awful to see Sonny
leave, I just hope they do justice to the character.

Gee, I didn't think that little write up would draw such strong feelings. I
personally thought that the way they really handled it, considering it was
only short term appearance, was perfect.
I think in her slightly over-compensating way, my friend was suggesting that
they wrote it as though Sonny barely considered Brenda's whereabouts, and
barely reacted to the news of Brenda and Jax together. As if he didn't care--
when he left her behind because he cares for her so much(that is their setup).
She did write this that very first day, BEFORE S&B actually saw each other and
talked it out. Also I think it was written from the point of view of what she
would LIKE to have happen, regardless of actors contracts and schedules.
Personally, I think the best story would have been for Brenda to leave with
Sonny as planned, to live happily ever after off screen. Of course Vanessa
couldn't make up her mind about staying or leaving and ended up staying, maybe
the best thing for her, but not for the story.
And now to have her go back to Jax seems ridiculous to me, since I never
bought that she loved him in the first place. It would have been better in
this situation to give her someone new, and maybe let Jax and V work something
out. I like Jax much better when he is with V.

i believe it's marcus.
and this is just my opinion, of course, but i REALLY don't like the
way he acts around dara. the man has some sort of god complex
going--not my style at ALL. if i were dara, i would have put him in

did that strike anyone else as something emily would NEVER EVER

I must admit that I was feeling the same way for a while, but since the
scenes he's done in the last few weeks, trying to find Michael & opening up
to Dara, I think she believes there's a warm person under the, sometimes,
malicious person that is Taggart. And I am & still kinda bothered by that
whole Alan thing w/Taggart. I can't believe a cop would let an addict just
wander on home. (I can't even get outta a ticket, let alone what Alan was
doing. LOL!) I never thought Dara & Justus had any chemistry, they seem like
oil & water to me anyway.

yeah, that one did stick in my mind as well. I guess w/the make overs she's
doing, she's changing her mind about things, (grasping at straws, here!)
(but didn't Emily look very tall next to Robin yesterday. I know Robin is
short, but geez, she was towering over her!)
...and just to throw this in, I have been kinda happy that for years Amy
hasn't had anything to say except gossip & this time she kept her mouth shut
(which is really outta character) & is facing off w/Alan. That's pretty
interesting.

Ok, was it just me or wasn't that "filming" of the show annoying? Why
can't they just "tape" the show as usual? I was trying to hook up old
time viewers, trying to get them back into the show & they couldn't even
watch it because of the filming technique, it was annoying! Yeah, I was
even one of them. The only part I remember, was Laura w/Liz & I must
say, that was brilliantly written & executed (isn't it clever that Lucky
& Liz have the same initials as Luke & Laura? 1st names anyway.
Supercouple in the making..hmmm). But I did enjoy the Brenda/Jax
"fantasy" sequence, and I know a lot of you don't like them
together...phew, how can you NOT like Ingo?, I rather enjoy a couple
being happy for a lil' while. Ya know the next big obstacle, which will
probably be at the ball will cause a bridge between the two!

Thank god someone else noticed at least...I thought I was paying a little
too much attention in direction class. I kinda liked the new shots though,
tell me you arent getting tired of the one stationary angle behind the
liqour in Luke's office? And the opening overhead shot in the police
station and Stefan's cell...I do think they should go one way or another,
using prime time camera techniques in daytime couldnt be all bad...Or not
try to change things...Just something was wrong about the credits at the
begining.

Ok, I agree w/the stationary angle shot, but they were changing angles
so quickly & so abruptly, I thought I was watching a Martin Scorsese
flick. Also, by changing the look, I think it made the actual show look
way to grainy and almost blurry. It REALLY took away from the show
itself & I'm a long time viewer & wouldn't miss an episode, but I almost

I did it again, I messed up the programming for GH yesterday since I
wanted to tape PC to make sure I got the full effect for the Nurse's
Ball. Anyway could someone please give me an update?
Also, I just need to mention this, and this is MY OPINION ONLY. I've
watched PC again over the last couple of days & GOD, I think that show
is awful. I cannot get into it at all. But have to give a big applause
to the always wonder Lynn Herring (Lucy). Now I know why I miss her on
GH daily!!!!!

Danielle I must agree with you! I watched PC when it premiered, but
after about a month lost interest. I decided to tape today's show
(thurs) to keep up with the Nurse's Ball crossover to GH and saw nothing
had changed. It's too bad they can't do a better job considering the
great talent there (Lynn, Jon, Kin).
As for GH, anyone notice a repeating storyline going on? The guilty
attorney (Alexis) defending the innocent (Stefan) - reminds me of when
Laura was on trial for Damian's murder, that her lawyer, Justus,
actually committed. Just a thought...

P.S. Sorry no update, I've been a spotty viewer of GH this week.

Thank you! I've been taping that show for the week, only because of the
Nurse's ball crossover, (I usually tape Sunset Beach, which has it's
slow days, but is starting to build up some momentum!) and I CANNOT
fathom PC. I'm constantly reading the paper, magazine while PC is on! I
really could care less who the killer is, but one scene at the end
yesterday w/Karen was kinda interesting. (I'm just grateful the show
isn't an hour long, just pull my finger nails off, that would be less
torture, remember guys, this is IMO only!)

I guess I have to disagree---totally. I find PC to be far and away more
entertaining than GH. I think the show is better written, the characters seem
to have more life to them. I actually look forward to watching PC, where I
kind of hope GH has maybe one thing worthwhile to see on each day.
My friend happened upon Bob Guza at the Emmys and he asked how she was
enjoying the show, and she shocked him by saying she had quit watching since
he is ruining the Quartermaines, among other things. GH seems to have turned
into a show more aptly titled , "The HeMen and the Mob."
Lynn Latham has a little bit of everything going on on PC. There is actually
some romance, something sadly lacking on GH these days. I find Brenda with
Jax quite dull, he is far better with V, and she'd be better off elsewhere
rather than in this retreaded storyline. But then Guza thinks they are
"Titans." Stefan and Katherine were even more sadly lacking in chemistry.
I do kind of like Ned with Alexis, but that seems to be stalled. I think I
took from the encounter the other day that Ned was willing to sleep with her,
when convenient, but that's about it. How fun and romantic!
PC has a great murder mystery, going. And believe it or not, someone on the
show will end up as killer-- not like like GH's Tin Man.
It took a little time to sort out the interns and find out what made them
tick. I've found nearly all of the interns have turned out to be interesting
and entertaining in their own way. Plus there is always Kevin, and Lucy and
Scott. Ironically, Lucy is the only one bugging me right now on PC, as she
seems to be reverting to her old self a bit in her pursuit to prove Eve is the
killer.
Anyway, I could go on and on in defense of PC, but I'll just say I find it
more enjoyable by FAR than GH.
>>As for GH, anyone notice a repeating storyline going on? The guilty
attorney (Alexis) defending the innocent (Stefan) - reminds me of when
Laura was on trial for Damian's murder, that her lawyer, Justus,

Yeah I think Guza only has a limited number of stories in his head. So now we
can see Jax/Brenda II, and now this thing with Alexis. We have various Q's
involved in addictive substances-- possibly including Emily again. I might as
well watch old tapes:-).
If they were old tapes of shows written by the Labines I'd be better off than
watching the current stuff............

I'm guessing that they are using the theory behind rawhide shrinkage. If =
you
remember from old cowboy movies, someone would get their hands tied with
leather strips, then wet the strips which would then shrink. So, probably
some sort of moisture that's not obvious, and that outfit will turn out t=

Oh goody...I was afraid to be catty, but if you can do it, so can I! :)
MY random thoughts...
What on earth was that thing Lucy (whom I LOVE) had on with the pants
under it??? Her stomach was showing, and despite the fact that the
woman doesn't have an ounce of fat on her body, her tummy looked gross!
Was that "fall" Robin took the most ridiculously staged thing ever or
what???
Lucky had a surprisingly good singing voice - usually we see him
dance, this was a nice change...
Taggart has NO rhythym!!
Why did Lizzie only have one line to sing??
Robin was the only one that I didn't think was really singing - didn't
sound like her...the rest all sounded great...
Why hasn't Ned had more singing? I miss his voice!! (not to mention
those leather pants!)
And, my biggest one...Isn't Sonny supposed to be in hiding??? Walking
into the Nurse's Ball with the entire town there, including Dara and
Taggart - what the heck was that??? And didn't Justus want to say
hello to his old boss??
On to your stuff...

I didn't like it much either, though her hair was lovely.
Felicia's dress is breathtaking...How does Brenda's stay up??? It

Personally, I didn't like his voice but at least I knew for sure it was
his voice. I really didn't like the rendition of Jailhouse rock but I
loved the set-up. Also, I hated the fact they only announced the main
GH/PC characters, either announce everybody or nobody (meaning the five
extras in the scene)
> > > >Taggart has NO rhythym!! >

I absolutely love this part because he said he didn't sing and he really
didn't, i hate when everybody performs in this variety shows and are
perfect. This brought much needed realism and showed how much Taggert
cares for Dara.

I knew it wasn't her and I wished she would have sung or not performed, it
really took away from the number to me. Also, why did she keep standing
there like an idiot, I know so Ned could save the day but really if I were
her I would have walked off the stage with Alan, not stand there like an
idiot, duh now what?

I hated most of the dresses except Lucy's silver dress she didn't get to
wear and I liked Karen's dress too. Julie's dress didn't look so bad but
I didn't get a good look at it. As for Brenda, her number made me dislike
her more than ever, she did an absolutely awful job, the only good part
was the end with Sonny. Loved the fact that Karen got upset too,
sometimes they forget history.

I know, and I have trouble picturing the "real Ned" making an offer like that.
I think he would be more open to the sacrifices Alexis has to make as her
family's "gatekeeper." I think this couple could be really good, they had
promise, but it doesn't look like Guza is going to do them justice.
I daydream about the Labines coming back and getting everyone squared away in

could work wonders for GH again, I think. She knows the characters so well,
she would see that Ned would not treat Alexis like that and the Q's are not

Then again, I can dream all I want---- Wendy just loves Guza, and I doubt

I was totally pissed off to hear Lucy go on and on about how much the Nurses'
Ball meant to Kath. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! It meant nothing to her.
The woman first stole, what was it-- $20,000? from the cause and then tried
everything she could to sabotage the whole event. I'll never forgive her for
her actions that year, she was so gleeful about the whole thing.
Then, when she inherited Damian's money, she used the ball as an "in" to try
and get some respectability. She's never really cared much about the event,
only how she could use it to her own benefit.
I wish she would stay dead. I don't want her or her twin or her identical
cousin, or her clone or anybody else back in PC............
That speech made me sick. I was embarrassed to hear Lucy go on and on about
Kath like she was a dear old friend, when she really couldn't stand her. It's
almost the same as when they make Edward moan about her being dead, when he
really hated her too.
When I hear Edward go on about donating money in her memory and all that, it
reminds me of my all time favorite Q scene. The Q family meeting to discuss
Kath's murder (ATTEMPTED murder) that happy day she fell down the Q staircase.

there is evidence of something going on between the two. I can't remember
the scenes exactly, but I do remember that Katherine did show concern for
Lucy even though she didn't know what was wrong. Also she wholeheartedly
continued to play a prank on Lucy at the ball because Lucy more or less
told her that she wanted things to go as the always went.

Guess what guys, that WAS Robin singing. I actually did attend a GH fan
club luncheon years ago & Kimberly was singing. She does have a voice,
as did Stuart (Alan)...I'm just upset that they made him look like a
real ass there.

Yeah, Monica looked good, but too matronly, and I happened to like
Bobbi's whole outfit, the hair, the dress, she looked spectacular. And
for Robin, for the "show" she looked great, then she changed, & also
looked great.

Huh? Me personally thought that was a great number & all of the girls
did great (how 'bout Lynn's stomach, I'm ill!) I think people are being
a bit picky because of the Sonny/Brenda/Jax story. And didn't Maurice
look fabulous w/out the goat-tee? It was our SONNY back. (clap, clap,
clap!!!) I wish he would stay!!!

You know, I wouldn't have minded, if Guza had played the

at the engagement ball solely to hinder Alexis' attempt to
kill Helena. Fine, but it's unfair to push Ned to make a
grand declaration of his feelings, and then *completely*
ignore it for a couple of weeks. I think Ned and Alexis
are supposed to have a chat today at the Ball--I really
hope that there's some fallout from his offer. As the
suggestion of a man who wants to be with Alexis but is
afraid of being hurt, the offer works: but only if Guza
makes it clear that's what it was supposed to be.

Today it DID sound like Robin singing, but the other day it really did
NOT sound like her - totally different voice! As for Alan, I think
they had to do that so that the whole town would start to wonder about

I was disappointed when I realized today was the end of the ball
itself - they have been saying, "Friday, Monday and Tuesday" but
really tomorrow will be the murder, no more musical numbers. :(
I thought the thing they did today with the "witnesses" was
beautiful. I cried. So simple and yet powerful and touching...just
so well done.
I liked Lucy's red dress today...anyone notice that she did not wear a
ribbon on a couple of dresses?? I didn't notice, but my mom did. :)
I loved the Ned and Emily piece - it was soooooo nice to hear him sing
again - his voice is really wonderful. Emily had quite a voice as
well - it was apparent that she has had some professional training. I
really missed Audrey being in the Chorus Line...it was always so nice
to see her there, exploding sterotypes about older women. :) I was
glad Mary Scanlon was there though. :) The "Thank Goodness For
Little Girls/Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" number was adorable - really
cute way to get so many of them involved. I thought it was odd though
that they made such a fuss about Edward and Emily rehearsing when
Edward only had a little bit to do! And I don't remember ever hearing
them talk about Ned and Emily rehearsing!
So, I'm pretty sure it'll be a dead Jake we find tomorrow, anyone else
agree??? They've said a well built, blond male - it cannot possibly
be Jax, not Jason, not Scotty and I don't think it'll be Chris, so
that leaves Jake. I don't know why they kept showing Jake during Eve
and Julie's number - that was weird! But with the arguing between
Jake and Chris, it's not a far stretch...He's never had much of a
storyline anyway...
Well, that's all the rambling I can think of right now...sorry it's so
long!

storyline, but things like today are a bit much I think. There's a
difference between his going off the deep end trying to protect a

Frankly, for him to go and essentially s**t on everyone there and

Well as I was writing this post the first time the power went out and my
computer went off. Needless to say I lost this message. Now I am writing
it again in a shorter version
I loved the ball
I loved Tony's line about Carly and Bobbie
I loved Jerry's punch
I loved Lucky and Nik in their tuxes
I didn't like that Emily and Lucky are on opposite sides now
I didn't like the way that Emily went off on Liz
I didn't like the way Liz went off on NIk
I can't wait until Emily tells Nik how she feels about him
Nik had better feel the same way
I have been waiting for a romance between these two for over a year.
How old is Emily?
I loved Mike with Jason. He looked suitably hurt at Sonny's not calling him
There is definitely good possibilities for the scene that is going to happen
between these two. I can't wait for that.
I of course Loved the chorus line. I didn't like the actual dancing
especially, but I loved Lucy.

I rather enjoyed it - it seems so in-character for him lately. But, I
found it odd that noone intervened (especially with Mac and Taggart
right there). I agree that I don't think it was necessary to the
storyline since he didn't expose Alan's addiction (which I was hoping
for!). Traditionally, the Nurse's Ball always has some shockers and
maybe the writers felt this year's was lacking so threw in Tony's tirade
to add some spice. Yeah, I know someone dying is quite shocking enough,
but that seems more of a PC than a GH storyline.

Emily attacked Lucky and Liz like that. Lucky was her best-friend when

Or, is this sudden interest from Nic given her some much needed

Hmmmm. You guys are getting a totally different reading

Thank you!!!! Although, I guess we could blame the attitude for Emily on

At first, I was, I even picked up a magazine, (Soap Opera Digest, of

those people did need a "direct hit" from someone. I for one, don't like
the fact that they're making Tony out to be a "wimp" in the point that
they're trying to make us feel totally in sync w/the character. I like
the twists, generally & yeah, Brad Maule is pulling out some Emmy
winning scenes.
OK, this question is all my own! Does ANYONE else notice that Luke's
been hitting the bottle a bit much? Every scene he's in lately, seem to
have him "purposely" pouring a drink, having the glass on the desk, in
his hand, etc. It's annoying me, cuz I hope they don't ruin Luke's
character as being a hero & coming up w/the overdone Alcoholic problem
that is rampant on that show! Please, please, please....DON'T MESS

I agree with Anne on this one. As much as I love certain things about GH,
over all, I just can't muster much interest. I haven't watched anything
but the Nurses' Ball in nearly a month.
I HATEHATEHATE what is being done to Robin (with the exception of her
telling off Tony yesterday at the Ball), and what Guza does to the Q's
makes me sick to my stomach.
The only thing that I really LIKE about GH is that they finally did
something about Stefan and Katherine. ;-)

Woo hoo! Ha! I love it! Did he say anything in response to that one, or
what he just stunned?
>GH seems to have turned
>into a show more aptly titled , "The HeMen and the Mob."
Yup. And I LOVE Jason, but I can't stand him with Robin. I'd be more
inclined to watch if Sarah Brown wasn't on maternity leave. And ALL the
drug stories are just tired. And them rehashing Emily's addiction again
with this whole modeling thing, IMO, demonstrates an overwhelming lack of
originality.
The ONLY thing I actually really like about GH these days is the Spencer
stuff.
Though, despite the fact that I am the first person to continually defend
Lucky, I was ready to smack the daylights out of him yesterday when he
yelled at Em. Grrrrr.
>Lynn Latham has a little bit of everything going on on PC. There is actually

Oy. You ain't kiddin'. Painfully lacking. Nevermind the fact that my two
favorite couples in general -- Kevin & Lucy and Matt & Ellen -- are on PC,
and not GH.

I did really like Ned & Alexis. But I didn't like the way that Helena
effectively neutralized Alexis and her sense of personal power, confidence,
self-reliance, etc. Having Helena bring Alexis to her knees, only to then
have Ned use her, turns my stomach. Her alliance with Luke provided a
glimmer of hope that she'd get her spine back. It doesn't seem to have
worked very well.

What was worse was that a year later, while she was slobbering all over

an over-sized, guilt-induced check could have done the trick. But it never

I think that was the point, really. And his comments to Bobbie... whoa.
I'm glad Jerry decked him. I wish Bobbie had instead.
It seems that Tony has a bit of an inclination towards being involved in
ugly scenes at Nurses' Balls, eh? ;-)
>Anyone else???
Actually, I kept ticking my sister off during that scene. As Tony was
going on and on and on and on and they kept flashing around the room to
Felicia and Robin, I kept saying, "I hope you're proud of yourselves!"
I finally shut up when she threw a pillow at me. ;-)
Though, she did point out that with few exceptions (Jason's intellegence
being the only one that pops to mind at the moment), Tony was actually
right in just about everything he said. The bit about no one really caring
about AIDS research was just plain stupid, considering that most of them
were around for Stone and they all know Robin, but when it came to his more
personal attacks, he hit the nail on the head more than once.
I especially liked that he included Jax in his list of hypocrites.

That was a bit much, considering that she's done more to hurt her sister

Taiyn,
I just have to comment on Taiyn's SUPERB post consolidations! You rule
babe!
I'm primarily a lurker, but as a list owner myself, I just love to see
the consolidation style postings. Nothing is more annoying to me than
signing on to my own list and seeing 5 posts in a row (usually one line
only) by the same person! I want to scream!!! Thankfully, this list
isn't like that!

FRIDAY
June 19, 1998
Kevin had a terrifying daydream about Ryan killing Lucy. Shortly
thereafter, as Lucy prepared for the Nurses Ball, she had an
equally disturbing daydream in which Eve strangled her to
death. Eve arrived at Lucy's suite to help her get dressed and
successfully managed to throw a scare into Lucy [with a straight-
edge razor, no less! :) sorry, but lucy deserves it! -julie]. Lucy the=
n
realized that she had been foolhardy in asking Eve to be her
dresser and sent her away. Covering her fear from Kevin,
Lucy then called Luke Spencer and asked him to come to the
Ball and protect her. After speaking with Luke, Lucy got the
uneasy feeling that she was being watched. [as did we, from
the camera angles they were using.] Matt's affair
with Ellen appeared to have affected his chances of winning
the Quartermaine Residency. The contest now seemed wide
open and many of the interns secretly hoped to take home
the prize themselves. After Matt persisted, Ellen agreed to
go to the Ball with him with their heads held high. Joe and
Karen prepared for the Ball and reflected on all that had
happened between them over the past year. Joe and Karen
then voiced their love for one another. [and showed it, pretty much
off-screen--cool song though] After Julie was paged
to the hospital, Frank injected himself with more DL56. Jake
discovered that his DL56 research had been stolen from the
Baldwin lab and accused Karen of having taken it. Karen
denied stealing Jake's research and wondered who
sabotaged him. Meanwhile, Chris was seen offering the
DL56 research to a pharmaceutical company.
MONDAY, June 22
Luke Spencer and Kevin burst into Lucy's dressing room
at the Nurses Ball and saved her from being suffocated to
death by her dress. Minutes later, Eve walked in and Lucy
accused Eve of trying to kill her. Eve hotly denied the
accusation and later, in front of Garcia, Scott gave Eve a
false alibi for the time of Lucy's attempted murder. Julie
confronted Eve after learning that Lucy accused Eve of
attempted murder. Julie asked Lee to act as her attorney
and told him that she had fired Scott. As the Nurses Ball
continued, Eve and Julie performed a musical number
together. ["you've got a friend in me," from "toy story." why,
oh WHY, would the two of them have ever agreed to such =
a thing? even BEFORE the murders, they weren't exactly
buddies!] Jake saw Chris talking to the executive from the
pharmaceutical company and accused Chris of stealing
his DL56 research. Dr. Monica Quartermaine announced
Chris as the winner of the Quartermaine Residency. Later,
an angry Jake told Chris that he was a cheat and a liar.
Ellen was disappointed that Matt hadn't won the prize,
but he made it clear he wouldn't trade his relationship
with her for anything. As Lucy prepared to take the stage
once again, the lights went out and a noose was seen
hanging from the rafters.
What's coming Tuesday......
The General Homicide killer has struck again! Have Kevin
and Mac gotten the break they need?
tuesday's ep--bail out now if you want to watch it later...
today opened with the police sealing off the ball, telling everyone they =
couldn't leave until they'd been questioned, and they pulled down jake's
body from the rafters. everyone seemed visibly shaken. the cops
discovered
lark hiding in a dressing room--julie accused lark of killing jake, lucy
(predictably) accused eve (lucy is REALLY getting on my last nerve
these days...). lark tearfully said she didn't kill anybody and asked
frank
to back her up, which much to julie's dismay, he did, saying lark was
just a scared kid and was way too small to have overpowered jake
anyway. eve stood up for lark, telling julie to pick on somebody her own=
size, and to make up her mind as to who she really wanted to accuse
of being the killer--lark or eve. (i DO like eve these days! can't stan=
d
julie and lucy when they get into i'm-right-and-everyone-else-is-wrong
mode) anyway, then we had a bunch of police interviews spliced
together--they seemed at first to be focusing on lark, with various
people standing up for her and others (mary scanlon for one) tearing
her apart, until the cops got to julie, who was the only one they asked
where she was before the murders. oh, and i forgot--chris came up
to eve while they were taking down the body and asked if she wanted
to cook up another alibi. he seemed a bit shaken--although not as much
as eve was--and it came up that once again, neither of them had alibis.
also, while victor was being questioned a gun fell out of his jacket, =
which it was later revealed he had no license to carry. at the end,
kevin took off with mac, saying they might have found the break =
they were looking for in this case--they wound up at jake's apt., where
the cops were bagging all sorts of evidence (a copy of general homicide,
pictures of the lighthouse, a copy of kevin's car keys, etc.), and where
they
found what appeared to be a suicide letter/confession on jake's computer.=
they appear to have jumped to the conclusion that jake was the killer,
which i find utterly ludicrous, but hey. stay tuned for gh to find out
where they go with it all...
hope that helped!

I sure hope that's not the road they're sending Luke down! We viewers
need a break from the "addiction" storylines.
I think (I hope!)we're seeing more swigging from the flask because he's

I thought I was the only one who noticed! Somehow I can't TPTB making
Luke into an alcoholic, and I can't see Tony Geary playing one. Maybe
the drinking is a "manly" way[albeit a destructive one] of showing
the character's pain and turmoil. Luke isn't exactly the kind of guy
who would cry;) Or maybe it's supposed to make him seem menacing, like
the cigars were used to illustrate his "hippness" Whatever the case
I hope the writers show a little more originality than alcoholism.
Tony Geary is a fabulous actor, and a drinking problem storyline
would be IMO a waste of his talent.

I AGREE 100%!!! Especially since Tony has made "Luke" his character, so to
speak over the years.

Ok, I think I get what you're going for, but with so much drugs, mobsters,
rape, drinking on ONE show, you'd think that TPTB would appreciate one of
it's most enduring characters. (sure, I know this is the Soap world, but...)
>*Who lets Luke get away with things lesser characters have been

Yeah, really, but as this rape storyline came back to haunt him, anything's
possible.
And might I add, I was smiling when Luke & Laura were talking & he decided
to spend the night. (Loved the reaction between Luke & Lulu, too!)
but, question, why don't they ever show Luke & Laura in those passionate

I know I'm sure Sonny was shaking in his shoes, LOL.
I was dying laughing during this scene. Sonny kind of looked at Jax like an
annoying insect. I think of all Jax's scene's I've enjoyed this one the most,
and it most described what he is all about.
Sonny summed Jax up perfectly when he said, "You really don't know anything do
you? You don't know what's going on. (pause) At this point I'm not sure you
should be told."
Perfect.
What the heck did Jax do before he met Brenda? It's like he has tunnel
vision. And he can't believe that anyone else has a life where Brenda is not
central to it.
I can see him calling the White House if Clinton raised taxes. Was it because
Brenda wasn't working as much this last year, and thus the tax burden had to
be shifted to the rest of us? It has to have something to do with her.
I did enjoy the scene with these two though, Sonny was so in control of the
situation:-).

Clap, clap, clap.
Also, I realized just how "funny" Taggart is again. I thought he had a bit

i must say, even though taggert is usually WAY too annoying =

whole scene a bit odd. it made me wonder where we're

now, i want this alan addiction thing over with as much as
anyone, but at this point the only part of it that even SLIGHTLY
interests me is why taggert is acting the way he is about it.
i was beginning to get the feeling during that nurse's ball
scene that he has some very personal experinece with this
sort of thing--either through his own father, which screwed
up his childhood, which is why he's so concerned about =
this situation now, or through himself, and he had a wife and
child whose lives he similarly screwed up. complete and
total speculation, of course, but...it sorta kinda makes sense,

that's an excellent point--not that i thought for a second that it was

i suppose it doesn't surprise me one bit that the ever-so-astute

>only one thing...TV Guide says

hmmm...back to this game again, huh? well...i really don't
see it being victor. he might have been mad enough to =
kill devlin, but not grace and jake. the three i keep returning
to are chris, frank, and lark. (assuming, of course, that whoever
said pc wouldn't pull a gh and make the killer some random
like the tin man is right...which i REALLY hope they are!) so...
of those three, i'd LIKE it to be chris, because he deserves
to get what's coming to him...but somehow i think that's
too convenient as well--they've bent over backwards giving
him too many reasons to kill each of the three victims. if
we go on the assumption that it has to be a main character,
if nobody else is leaving the show it has to be someone

Yep! I would LOVE it to be Chris and I'd love to see him live in
prison for a while and then get out on some ridiculous
technicality...just the idea of him locked up with a big guy named
Bubba who will get Chris's face tatooed on him is really appealing
after what a worm he's been... ;) But, alas...somehow, I agree that
they're not headed there...bummer. Now, Frank is driving me up a wall
- I grab something to read or go get something from another room when
he's on. He just makes me uncomfortable. He's an excellent actor to
go from being one of my favorite nice guys to making my skin crawl,
but enough is enough - it's gone on WAY too long! So, yeah, he's my
best bet, but I don't understand something - what is the deal with him
and Lark??? Last we saw, he practically ripped her limb from limb and
we all thought he might have killed her in a rage. Now she shows back
up after all this time and they're just good buddies?? What the
h*ll????? Did I miss something?? As for Lark, I wouldn't like it to
be her - she's a very mis-understood, neglected kid, and although she
certainly has pulled some rotten stunts, I still think they have an
opportunity to show what good fostering and adoption can do for
troubled kids and I'd like to think they're not going to just sit
there an perpetuate sterotypes instead. Yeah, I know...based on all I
just said, it'll probably be Lark. LOL! BTW, your comment on naming
drugs made my whole day - that just cracked me up! :)

Well, at first, when he caught Alan buying I thought he wanted to
"have something" on Alan so he could use his influence. I mean, that
scene was right after Dara had told him that he was coming up on
review and that he better hope he had powerful friends, or something
like that. But, that doesn't explain why he let Alan off the hook in
the hotel room a ways back or his behavior at the Nurses Ball, so I
don't know. Maybe it's a combination of wanting to have something to
hold over him, and honestly beginning to feel sorry for the guy???

I don't know if this is possible because I haven't been watching Port

That's an interesting theory, but not likely. Lynn Latham said that the
murderer was going to be a main character on the show. The thing that really
bothers me about this whole Jake thing is just how easily everyone accepts it,
especially Kevin. As a psychiatrist and the author of the book, you'd think
he'd be a little more suspicious of Jake's "suicide", or at least comment on
how none of it makes sense. Maybe even Victor and his analytical mind could
get in on this. Come on, Collins Family, dazzle me as always with your
brilliant minds!!!!
On another note, The next victim HAS to be Julie! Could she be any more
annoying?

I tried for a moment today, when the (ick) "Good Lucy" was saying
all the things to Lucy that we've all been saying, to tell myself the
writers were trying to let us all know that they hear us or
something...it didn't last long...lol! When they kept calling each
other "Girlfriend" which I don't recall Lucy EVER doing, it was
getting to me...and then, after pointing out all the reasons not to do
it, which would have made the REAL Lucy change her mind if they
weren't destroying all the progress she'd made, they had her do it
anyway, they lost me. Though it was kinda cute when she smushed the
Good Lucy... ;~)

Everything I've read, they're saying that we'll never know who
the rapist was - it's not the point of the story.

Two reminders:
Don't, don't, don't, DON'T cite back more than five lines
of material from a previous post when you send your own
reply. If you are addressing more than one point, it is
fine to cite information related to each point, as long as
you do it in less than five lines of cited material per
point. I'm *really* tired of reminding people of this
rule. We've seen the previous posts already, guys, and
when you cite that much you waste bandwidth. Our members
who pay for the minute for online access, and spend many
minutes downloading huge messages with nothing but "Me
toos" or one-line observations appended to previous posts
don't appreciate it.
Remember, if I have to keep reminding you, you'll be
unsubbed for a while so that you'll have time to read the
list rules at your leisure.
(rant mode off)
Please remember as well, that spoiler space *must* have
characters other than periods in it. If you use periods,
or if you simply use twelve lines of blank space, it
confuses some mailers--they either automatically delete the

assume the message is over and chop it off. You don't want
your esteemed list members to miss your scintillating

I know what you mean...you'd think someone with her history with

You're absolutely right - I must have blanked those scenes out of

Well, if that's the case, why was he so panicked when Karen said she

most likely. i can't quite remember how he got this guy
to make the drug--either by having him analyze some of =
the stuff to figure out how to make it, or if he stole the =
formula, or what (i don't tend to pay much attention to

my guess...god i hope they end this story SOON!

i assume they will--most likely when frank gets lark back

yes, i believe. that was a while ago, but i'm pretty sure sonny =
and karen were involved while she was stripping/on drugs. =
(i had completely forgotten that he knew her as kari until
the other day though!) i think (but i could be completely wrong)
that this was during the time that brenda was after jagger.
(someone with a better long-term memory can correct me
on that though!)

Yes, they did sleep together. This was after she started taking the drugs
and after she told him about Ray. I think Sonny genuinely cared for
"Cari" as he called her. Karen was never really angry at Sonny because he
never asked her to do something she didn't want to do. He always asked if
she was okay with it. At the end when she was becoming popular at the
club, his attitude changed but I always thought it was because the writers
didn't want to make Sonny and Karen a couple so they had to make him evil.

Actually this whole story-line happened at the end of 1993, beggining of
1994. It is the same time that Lucy was pregnant with Serena. Karen had
broken up with Jagger because of that Ray stuff, and Brenda started dating
Jagger. I remember that "Cari's" special little strip thing was her being
this innocent school girl person who started ripping of her clothes. I
guess that the act was supposed to mirror Karen's life and feelings in some
way. I don't really have a clue.
As I mentioned before Lucy was still pregnant with Serena. This means that
the soap opera people have already given Serena 3 extra years.
