Subject: GH/PC: GH newspaper article in Michigan Daily
Date: 01 Apr 1998 14:14:37 -0500 (EST)
For the completists, here's an article from today's Michigan Daily. The
article itself, with a picture of Tony Geary, is at
http://www.pub.umich.edu/daily/1998/apr/04-01-98/arts/arts3.html
----------
'GH' celebrates 35 years of soap saga
By Jie Lin
For the Daily
A jilted bride ends up in the nuthouse, a mob war erupts over a kidnapped
baby, and a rape dredges up dark family secrets. Welcome to the wonderful
world of "General Hospital."
Forget about "ER"; this hospital is far more interesting.
Where else could you see a daughter seek revenge on the mother who gave
her up, by stealing her husband? For more than three decades, "General
Hospital" has been bringing viewers mayhem five times per week, capturing
the hearts of soap opera fans everywhere.
The function of a soap opera is escapism - to take us out of our mundane
lives and into a fantasy world filled with gorgeous people and their
equally glamorous lifestyles.
"General Hospital" fits that bill to a tee. The show features some of the
hottest actors of daytime. Take one look at the opening credits to know
what I am talking about.
But there is much more to "GH" than handsome doctors and beautiful nurses.
The soap opera primarily revolves around the wealthy Quartermaine family,
whose closets are filled with more skeletons than the Kennedys'.
Let's not forgot about the other characters as well. We have a model
(Vanessa Marcil), a tycoon (Ingo Rademacher) and a mobster (Maurice
Benard), just to name a few. Let your imagination run wild because
anything is possible here in the city of Port Charles.
Tomorrow, "General Hospital" will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an
hourlong special recalling favorite moments of the show and interviews
with stars from the past and present. The show will feature favorite
couples from Luke and Laura (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis) to Sonny and
Brenda (Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil).
Who could forget Luke and Laura's wedding? It is possibly the most famous
wedding of all of daytime, attended by longtime fan Elizabeth Taylor.
Sonny and Brenda, a mobster and a model, were one of the favorite and
hottest couples from his past year. Theirs is a match made in heaven.
Along with unforgettable clips, there will be interviews with former and
current stars. Celebrities from the past such as Jack Wagner of "Melrose
Place" (Frisco Jones on "GH"), who met his wife Kristina (Felicia Jones)
on the show, and John Stamos (Blackie Parrish) of "Full House" fame, will
share their memories of the show. Current stars featured include Kimberly
McCullough (Robin Scorpio) and Ingo Rademacher (Jasper "Jax" Jacks).
Also in the hour special, we will get a sneak peek into a group photo
session with the stars of the show. For the clincher, Brad Maule (Tony
Jones) will perform a song written by the star himself about the
characters in Port Charles.
"GH" fans will get a special treat as host and show veteran Anthony Geary
(Luke Spencer) takes devoted viewers down memory lane.
Keep that box of tissues close by.

I missed all my soaps yesterday because I forgot to tape. I'm
disappointed that they didn't leave the picture of Audrey and Steve in.
It was a nice one.
Are Kevin and Lucy still in the GH credits?

How about the mobster's father? Or the cop turned personal assistant? Or
the kidnapping brain surgeon? Or anybody who's *not* Brenda, Jax and Sonny?
Geez. I'm obviously BJ&S'd out <g>.

When did she write this article, I wonder? Apart from the reference to
Brenda going nuts in the lead, she keeps referring to Sonny as if he's
still around.
Thanks, Betsy!

i agree--i kind of thought they would leave steve in forever. however,
they did keep the action clip, of him tending to a patient being wheeled
into the er.

yup--sure are. i checked for that one. i kind of figured if they were
updating the credits, they'd be gone. i wonder why they aren't? (not

I also agree, but I guess this way Audrey can move on. Why don't they
replace Marybeth Evans' (katherine's) picture? That is the WORST picture
of her! Also, not fond of the one of Vanessa (Brenda). I think that Lucy
& Kevin's are still on the intro because they are probably still
contracted to GH as well as PC.

Brenda and Jax are on the cover and there is a big story on the shoot
out at the docks. Brenda gets shot, but it is only a flesh wound.
Jax starts to realize that he and Brenda can't be together and he
tries to tell her this, but his parents interrupt, so Brenda is off
the hook for now. Jerry is indeed involved in the assasination plot
and Mac discovers this, but Jax asks him to let him deal with Jerry.
Guza states that Jax needs to see Brenda choose him over Sonny before
he can accept a future with her. Guza also states that "We think
there is going to be a real threat to J&B....and that's Jax's own
brother"
SOOOO...what do you guys think?? I wish that they would go ahead and
put J&B together and THEN throw the obstacles at them. It would be
more interesting than this romancing and playing hard to get crap!!

From what I understand that is almost exactly what it was (and it
especially makes sense if the rumors about Lynn are true). Besides, the
credits have been updated once already since they left to PC -- in fact, it
wasn't until they were already on PC that K&L were inserted into the GH
credits together, instead of seperately like they've been for the previous
three and a half years.

The spoilers I'm talking about came up on the K&L list, but I don't
remember if they were mentioned here or not: it was the rumor that Lynn
wants and is planning on going back to GH as of this spring because she
doesn't want the work load associated with being a frontburner character
like she is on PC, as opposed to a backburner one like she was on GH. I
sincerely hope the rumor is wrong, but that's the one that SOD was pushing
a couple weeks ago.

In fact, after watching the John Beradino tribute at the beginning of the
GH special last night, I'm even more irked by the fact that they took out
the picture of Audrey and Steve together. Yes, I realize the opening
credits are supposed to reflect the current cast, but he was an original
cast member, for crying out loud. Grrrr.
I must say, apart from the inclusion of Taggert and the far-improved pic of
Billy Warlock, I'm not impressed. I liked the brooding pic of Nik better;
after they made such a big deal about the "new" Jason, why didn't they take
out the pic of him in the leather jacket?; why do they continue to show
Katherine with that poodle haircut <g>?

Argh! Forgot to watch the show last night. :-( I felt too lazy at 10 to
get up and look for the TV guide, so I channel-surfed till I found
something watchable. Unfortunately, ABC was showing commercials when I
surfed through.
<sigh>
So, how was it?

Argh! Forgot to watch the show last night.
The show was good, although, I wish they would have shown the more,
pivotal scenes w/the couples. I think they showed too much Luke & Laura,
when they could've shown other people. They only showed Holly in a small
scene for instance. I was DYING to see that scene where Luke at the
mayor's mansion sees Laura for the 1st time after she escaped from the
Cassadines! They saved that for the montage at the end. That was
disappointing! Overall, it was pretty good. I think they needed 2 hours
at least though!

I usually just lurk here, but last night was so wonderful I just had
to post!!! :)
The first half hour had me laughing out loud again and again...from
9:30-9:40 I sat here bawling like a baby, and then went back to
laughing again. All of a sudden Luke was back and I realized it was
almost over!! I was crushed -- I wanted AT LEAST another hour!!! I
hope people stayed tuned to the credits to see Brad Maule sing -- that
was so cute!! Seeing everyone together like that...
Okay -- here's the ponderings...Where was Tristan Rogers??? John
Ingle? Anna Lee? Can't remember Katherine's real name, but she
wasn't there...though that wasn't as glaring to me as the others. I
figured Ian Buchanan wouldn't be there since he's currently on another
network, but where were the others?? I would have loved to see
Tristan Rogers again...I love him! Ummm...what was with the pillow
Kimberly McCullough kept in front of her? It strikes me that she has
a bad self body image -- her posture is always horrendous, maybe she
was unconciously hiding?? It always amazes me how different Stuart
Damon looks now -- to me, he's MUCH more handsome now. He seems like
one of the most wonderful people -- one of those that you just know is
a nice person to meet. He's SO funny!! It looks like maybe there
is some truth to the rumors that one of the reasons Genie Francis
won't come back yet is she's unhappy with her weight -- they shot her
only from the chest up thoughout, other than one very far away full
shot. If that IS the reason, I'd like to somehow let her know that we
don't care -- we just want her back!!! You know what else struck me
during the Robin/Stone scenes -- whatever happened to him??? He's
such an exceptional actor, I'm disappointed we haven't seen him in
anything else!
My only criticism of the show overall, other than it was too short,
were those terrible rehearsed camera angles. I hate that!! Why not
just shoot naturally instead of making them turn their heads at a
certain time -- how unnatural!!
Well, back into hiding I go!!! :)

Oh, God, I didn't remember how great the acting was between Kristina &
Jackie during the BJ/Maxie storyline! And then throw in Stone dying, I
was hysterical by the end! They really put those scenes together well.
It looks like maybe there
is some truth to the rumors that one of the reasons Genie Francis

I agree w/Geri, who cares about the weight business. I must say that her
hair looked better than I've ever seen it look. She looked great!....And
why can't Vanessa Marcil ever sit like a normal person in a chair. Why
must she ALWAYS sit w/her legs crossed!
An hour just wasn't enough to show all scenes and characters that
haven't been on in such a long time. You'd think they'd do a greatest
of.. tape of GH, by itself, besides the Luke & Laura tapes!

You all have probably seen all of these spoilers in some form or another but
here goes....
These spoilers come from that page that some posted to the list before. I
usually use this page as one of my sources for my weekly spoiler update.
When I went there recently I saw that the web site author said no copying of
spoilers yada yadda yada. This person has no right to tell me I can't copy
the spoilers. The spoilers came from other magazines that she didn't even
cite on her web page. This information is NOT her intellectual property or
written property, so legally she has no right to copyright the information.
When I saw this I was really irked. Luckily for me I got over it and
decided to post the spoilers anyway. If this makes me a bad person so be
it. I think I am a kind person. I allow everyone and anyone to copy
anything they want from my soap opera web page or any of my other web pages.
Many people on the net are knid this way also. I hope that my trashing
this person isn't against list rules. If it is please let me know and I am
sorry if I offended anyone. I had to get that off my chest. Now that that is
over...

back to Port Charles and Brenda reveals to them that she plans to woo back
their son.

leads close to home as Jax' brother Jerry, arrives in town.
Carly and Jason Change Their Relationship ....
Although the week starts off with Jason being angry at Carly for
inadvertently triggering a strike on the docks, he doesn't stay mad for
long.
Carly prepares for a trip to Florida to pack up Virginia's house. As
she's packing a message comes in from Robin that she wants to talk to Jason.
When Jason is unable to get to the hospital, he asks Carly to go and find
out what Robin needs.
Carly goes to the hospital with good intentions, but soon gets upset at
Robin. Robert Guza explains that Carly says to Robin, "When you first
suspected that Tony had Michael, you could have told Jason right there, or
you could have told the police. Instead, you had to be the avenging angel
and go up there on your own. As a result, you gave Jason another few days of
hell, not knowing if Michael was dead or alive. You could have blown the
whole deal!" Robin replies that she was afraid of what Jason might have done
to Tony.
Kimberly McCullough (Robin) says, "Even though Carly is a liar and a
manipulator, a lot of things she said were true. Like when Carly said Robin
looks at Jason like a little boy. I think it hit Robin like, 'Whoa, I want
to be attractive to him too; I want to be a woman to him. And I need to look
at him in that way, too' "
When Robin tells Carly that Jason will have to make his own decisions,
Carly sees that as a green light and that she can make Jason hers in every
sense.
Jason joins Carly on the trip to Florida. During some bonding moments
between the two, Jason kind of commits to the relationship. When they get
back to Port Charles, Carly decides that the bond they shared in Florida
paves the way for what, to Carly, is the next logical step in their
relationship. As they prepare for bed, Carly puts on her sexiest nightgown
and goes to Jason's room.
Jason is already asleep. When Carly gets into the bed beside him, and
begins to kiss him, Jason responds to Carly in the way that she had hoped
and the passion builds.

Catching up on this week's worth of GH and PC.
Watching Felicia's reaction to Tony kidnapping Michael and holding Robin
captive makes me so sick. Ms. Felicia "Never Forgive Kevin" Jones is just
going to fall in line and forgive Tony? Geez. What a hypocrite.
I wish Bobbie wasn't the only one who smacked him.
And I wish Mac had klobbered Jax. Oh yeah, what's wrong with Mac? How

I have a Felicia question so I figure this is a good time to introduce
myself-- I'm Rebecca, and subbed to this list just last week. I like to
lurk for a while, but as I have question, oh well. Something tells me
this is the best place to get a good answer:). I like mailing lists
because I enjoy hearing other's opinions and interpretations of people
and things. I also belong to two X-Files ML's. I haven't been watching
GH for a long time- on and off over the past couple of years, but
recently I have a roommate who taped it everyday and had the audacity to
make me watch it with her at night! I couldn't believe I had ever not
realized what a perfect man Jason is in all my past viewings! So now
the VCR is on continious taping command for GH :). And, I must admit, I
had to jumpstart my heart with chocolate after seeing him in his tuxedo
on Friday--YUM! And I always thought the black leather jacket was so
great! What can I say? I am a sucker for a man who can cough up jewels
in a heartbeat :). I am 25, so I do remember the infamous L&L
storylines of past years and I think it is great the way GH is
resurrecting them now. (My mom watched all ABC soaps: Ryan's Hope, AMC
and GH.) I am an English Lit. major, so I have developed this nasty
habit of noticing things like narrative technique, symbolism, metaphor
and metonymy, theory discourse etc. in things, so I aplogize for
anything I may notice in advance :) Now for my question-- What exactly
is the relationship between Felicia and Tony? Are they the link in BJ
and Maxie? I missed this part-- thanks!

I thought someone might enjoy this article from the new SOD...
Over and Out?...Brenda is Fighting to Win Jax's Heart...But It May Be A
Losing Battle...
She's flown in oysters from Ireland...arranged a romantic gambling
getaway...even taken a bullet for the man she loves(okay, so it was only
a flesh wound-it still counts). But the last time we checked, GH's
Brenda was being dumped(literally and figuratively) on her butt by Jax
after pouring out her heart to him.
So why won't GH's most-eligible billionaire give in to Brenda's
Get-Back Jax campain? ''It's still about Sonny,'' sighs GH Head Writer
Bob Guza, JR. ''Yes, Brenda got shot, but it still doesn't prove she's
past Sonny. And that's the one thing Jax needs to believe. That's one of
the things we try to address. I mean, arguably, she could take all the
bullets in the world, but if Sonny walked in the door tomorrow, what
would Brenda do?
''Jax needs to know that if Sonny showed up and said, Let's do
it--I'll own a hardware store, Brenda wouldn't say, I'm sorry Jax, but I
have to go,'' asserts Vanessa Marcil. ''I think that is an important
part of Brenda and Jax's success as a couple. Brenda is definitely the
love of Jax's life, so it's hard for him to think he is not the love of
her life''. Marcil points out, though, that Brenda has matured since
falling in love with Sonny four years ago. ''Sonny will always be
Brenda's first love,'' states the actress. ''But that doesn't always
mean that your first big true love is the person who can make you happy
forever.'' Despite Brenda and Sonny's obvious love for each
other, she was almost killed because of him. ''I don't think anyone can
argue that he is not good for her'', agrees Marcil. ''She is not safe
when she is with him. Their kids would not be safe. I think that you can
love two people, so it doesn't necessarily mean Jax is second choice. It
is more that Jax is the love of Brenda's adult life. You change in life.
I don't think she loves one more than the other; she just loves them
differently.''
[here comes the REALLY gruesome part...julie]
Will Brenda ever get the chance to prove to Jax that she would
choose him over Sonny at this point? ''That's a problem,'' Guza agrees,
''because Jax needs to see something like this dramatized. He needs to
know Brenda is past Sonny and that Jax is the one she wants-not Jax in
lieu of Sonny. Ideally for Jax, there would be Jax behind Door A, and
Sonny behind Door B, the doors would open and Brenda would choose Jax.
Right now, the situation-as Jax and everybody believes it-is that Sonny
left Brenda at the altar. So it's like, she can't have Sonny, therefore
she's going after Jax. And Jax can't accept that.''
Which is not to say he's not enjoying Brenda's woo-pitching while
it lasts. ''Jax is always amused,'' smiles Guza. ''He loves all this
grand stuff--the gambling and all that. He's having a great time, and he
is slowly weakening. But he can't be second best-not again-and that
thought never strays from his mind. Jax loves Brenda too much. He cannot
open his heart to her in such a way that he could have it broken again.
It would kill him.''
And speaking of killing Jax, let's not forget that whomever
arranged the ill-fated assassination attempt is still out ther--a fact
which hasn't been lost on Jax's parent's, who show up at his penthouse
on Thursday to check in on their walking-target of a son. ''John and
Jane pay Jax a visit,'' says Guza. ''He has no idea that they're coming,
but he's happy they're there. They have that unique Jax-Jane-John
relationship where they'll just go out and hunt moose for breakfast,
then bond(laughs).''
Mission No. 2 for John and Jane is to check out the state of their
son's love life. ''Jax is very close with his parents,'' notes the
scribe. ''He has told them all along what's been happening with Brenda.
In their minds, Jane and John do feel like Brenda chose Sonny over their
son. But Brenda wins them over. She knows Jax wants her. It's not a
question of making Jax love her, it's about making Jax know she is the
one for hom, and she knows his parent's can help her accomplish that.''
Too bad their help comes right before Jax vows to set things
straight with Brenda. ''He sits Brenda down in order to tell her it's
over,'' reveals Guza. But just as Jax is about to get to that
all-important ''it's over'' part, the heart-to heartbreaking is
interrupted by his parents. Phew-Brenda dodges yet another bullet.
''Brenda is willing to be patient,'' smiles Marcil. ''It isn't
just, 'Fix me!' It's more, 'I'll wait. It's cool.' She is trying to
learn a more mature kind of love.'' As evidence, Marcil points out that
Brenda has been keeping mum about the fact that Jax left her at the
altar the year before when Miranda showed up. ''Jax literally
walked out the door in his tux, leaving Brenda standing there in her
wedding dress,'' she reminds us. ''She had chosen Jax over Sonny. So
this is an important route for Brenda to be taking. She is looking at it
in a mature way. Not, 'I'm sorry for what I did, but what about what YOU
did?'''
[PARDON ME?!? his presumed-dead first wife had just returned from the
grave!!! even if he HADN'T walked out the door, there's no WAY they
could've gotten married that day anyway. anyone ever heard of bigamy???
<grump> ]
Exellent point. But Jax's confusion is the least of his worries.
Mac and Felicia are about to dig up a shocking link to the assasination
attempt on Jax's life: Jerry Jax. ''We think that there's going to be a
real threat to Jax and Brenda...and that it's Jax's own brother,''
confirms Guza. On Friday, Mac goes to Jax with the incriminating
evidence he's gathered on Jerry. Jax then informs Mac he will handle the
situation privately. Jerry's arrival could spell bad news, not only for
Jax, but for the future of Brenda and Jax.
''What's going to happen is that Jerry's crossing the line is going
to put the entire family--particularly Jax and Brenda--in dire
straits.''
Whew, that was alot! Also, Jax confronts Jerry on Monday, April
13..and Tony gets an unlikely offer of help on Tuesday, April 14.
ARE TPTB NUTS??? ARE THEY *REALLY* TRYING TO DRIVE AWAY ALL THE
S&B/SONNY FANS ENTIRELY????? if they bring sonny back for no other
reason than to facilitate j&b, part three, or four, of whatever we're up
to...i think i'm going to be ill.
just had to share that.

ObGH: I watched the week's worth of stuff last week (thank gods I have no
school this week, I can actually keep up with the eps everyday instead of
hording them and having to rush through them all at once), and it still
amazes me that when it comes down to a showdown between Carly and Brenda,
that I end up squarely on Carly's side. Her little "meow, meow, meow"
routine at Brenda on Friday was too delightful for words.
Although, I have to say, that Katherine and Stefan last week, and their
whole routine with the vase and the candle holders, was alarmingly cute. I
was especially fond of the look on his face when she called the candle
holders "pig ugly." And him hiding them behind the cushion on the couch
was priceless. Just somebody shoot me, please, before I start to actually
LIKE them.

ITA with you! I loved Sonny with Brenda, but I also liked
J&B in Malibu. I was REALLY sorry to see Sonny leave PC, but now that he is
gone, I think Brenda should get on with her life and I think that
life includes Jax. I hope that she can get some closure soon so she

well (big shock, i know!) i just CAN'T agree with you! :) i like jax,
a LOT (and he is DEFINITELY a god...), and i USED to like brenda, but i
just can't stomach them together anymore. i liked them back during the

just can't see them together anymore. like jax said, i think it's too
late. now if only JAX would believe that! i was SCREAMING at him

but i DID have to chuckle when he left her and said he'd be sure to
write a thank-you note first thing in the morning. i think it was
BEYOND trite for tptb to have BRENDA be the one injured in the shooting
(and that tiny bit of blood? please, i've scraped my KNEE and bled more
than that...) i thought it would have been MUCH more interesting for v

didn't she also try boxing back when jagger was on? i think she was

i don't know anything about a crossover, but i'll do my best to fill you
in on pc. somebody will have to refresh my memory if i miss anything.
was it just yesterday's you missed? assuming so...
well, it was quite an eventful day. kevin told lucy about his ryan
dream, and she told him to try not to think about it because when he
does he always goes to that dark place, but he told her he couldn't
because he was worried victor was lying to him about something. so he
dug out the one box of victor's that victor had told him NOT to go
through, and he and lucy started looking through it. they came across a
picture of kevin and ryan as kids...when victor came into the room, saw
them going through his stuff, and got really pissed. he took his stuff
back and stormed off, refusing to listen to kevin or answer any of his
questions, and later set off the fire alarm by burning the stuff in his
trash can. meanwhile reporters showed up at the front door asking lucy
about her portrayal in "general homicide," and did she have any idea who
could have written it. she said she was sure it was somone intelligent,
handsome, sexy, etc., and they asked if she thought the jumper on the
hospital roof was real or just another publicity stunt for the book.
kevin said, "what jumper?" and rushed off to help, leaving lucy to look
after victor.
which brings us to...frank, julie and eve, who were calling all over
creation looking for lark when frank got paged to come help with someone
on the hospital roof threatening to jump. of course, he gets there to
find out it's lark. he tries to talk her down, but she's
hysterical about how she ruined everything and nobody loves her and
nobody wants her, etc. he finally convinces her that he won't send her
away, and that HE was the one who screwed up by not being responsible or
mature enough to be a foster parent. he convinces her to come off the
ledge, hands her across to the paramedics, and is about to follow her
when the brick beneath him crumbles and frank falls...fade to
black...run credits.
it was a pretty good ep, actually...although based on the promos i've
seen, i hope julie PUMMELS lark for this one, because things do NOT look
good for frank.
did i miss anything, anyone?

Actually, I'm not a Sonny and Brenda fan. I used to be (before she wore
the wire), but that was years ago. Mostly I'm just a Maurice Benard fan.
My sister and I spent most of this weekend with the Stone/AIDS storyline on
TV just for background noise, and just about every scene that totally
knocked the wind out of me was with and because of Maurice. The man was
astounding.
I just don't like Jax and Brenda individually. Together they annoy me

And sorry, Jill, no amount of great pecs does the trick. No cute accent,

Yeah, I was noticing that, too. I guess they meant more in terms of an
adult relationship. Brenda and jagger were cute, but they were a little
more on the "hormonal teenager" end of the scale.

I think poor John York must have the most awkward job in daytime, because
they keep pairing him off with these beautiful women, they have chemistry

I liked Felicia and Mac for about as long as I liked Mac and Katherine. I

Hi everyone! I've received this list for about a month now, but I've
finally got something to add. Geri Fosseen wondered what became of the
actor who played Stone (sorry, I can't remember his name). Check out the
movie "Inventing the Abbott's" - he's got a small part and looks mighty
fine too!!

::Grin:: I haven't liked J&B since the second S&B reunion, but yesterday that
changed...how cute was THAT scene with the bed?! I just loved how Jax blinked

ITA!! I think that Robin and Jason need to work alot of issues out,
but in the end they deserve to be together. I used to like Jason and
Carly as friends, but I lost alot of respect when Jason agreed to lie
about being Michael's father. He is just helping Carly to make
everyone else miserable. I enjoy Sarah Brown's acting ability, but I
want Carly to get what is coming to her...living in a penthouse and
receiving diamonds is NOT what I had in mind.:) I would like to see
more interaction between Carly and the Spencers than Carly and
Jason!!
BTW...what did ya'll think about the confortation between Robin and
Carly yesterday? It wasn't what I expected.

I loved Jason's wink and Garcia's LOD when he told Taggert that he
thought that Jason couldn't smile!(I don't remember exactly what he
said) I don't know who I am pulling for now....Justus or Taggert

I agree w/that whole-heartedly. They were making Jason a different type
of character as he couldn't tell a lie. That was refreshing for a Soap.
Now, he admits he'd tell the truth if someone asked. That's a bunch of
bull!
I enjoy Sarah Brown's acting ability, but I

ITA with that also. I kinda feel she's headed in the "Lucy" of old path,
being broke then hooking up w/the Quartermaines. Everytime Edward opens
his mouth, I think he's up to something else.
what did ya'll think about the confortation between Robin and

Disappointing big time. I thought they'd give ol' Robin some backbone.

ok, i'm getting kind of confused by gh these days. yesterday's episode,
with jax's "plan" to get back at the assassins without involving the

that jax may ultimately be behind the assassination attempt (intending

mean, why go through all the trouble, and risk your precious brender
getting a life-threatening injury (LOL!), but others have pointed out
that he could have done it in order to cause trouble for jason, which i
suppose is a possibility. but i STILL didnt' believe it...until
yesterday. yesterday was just too odd for me. anyone else?
although, it DID have the funniest thing i've seen on gh in a while...
those nametags! "hi, i'm mac," and "hi, i'm NOT mac"!!! that was
hilarious! :)
oh, one more thing...if you were laura, and YOU had been completely
unable to contact either your husband or your son, after repeated
efforts, for what must be weeks now...wouldn't you hop on the next plane
to port charles to check things out? i'm telling you, if laura's NOT
coming back they'd be far better off just leaving well enough alone.
when they keep TALKING about her, digging this hole even deeper, it
really makes you wonder what possible reason they'll possibly be able to
concoct for her staying away so long. (on the other hand, it DOES give
me hope that she could possibly show up unexpectedly, without warning,
one of these days!)

Is everybody else miserable? A.J. has pretty much admitted that 1) he
would have taken Michael away from Carly but 2) after going through the
whole kidnapping thing, he realizes that's not necessarily the best
scenario. He's moved forward in his relationship with Keesha, who can't
stand Carly, and would probably be pretty darned unhappy to know that there
is a lingering, and growing <g>, tie between A.J. and Carly.
Edward would undoubtedly be happier if the baby was A.J.'s, so I suppose he
might be "miserable."
If Alan weren't drugged out, I'd say that thinking Michael is Jason's son
makes him happy. Alan's relationship with Jason was a strong one; it's
possible that he hasn't given up on the notion that fatherhood might mellow
Jason's resentment towards the Q's.
Monica would probably be happier, but her problem is with Jason, not with
Carly (on the whole).
Emily would be happy either way, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she
likes being Michael's godmother, because it gives her another tie to Jason.
As for the Spencers.... I don't think it would matter to Bobbie. I
suspect Luke, in the long run, would vastly prefer any relative of his to
be Jason's and not A.J.'s <g>.
>I would like to see
>more interaction between Carly and the Spencers than Carly and

I do miss Carly and Luke. But Carly really doesn't have any place in
Luke's current storyline.
In a private note to me, which she's given permission for me to respond to
here, Jill wrote:

I think that both Jason and Carly are fooling themselves about Carly's
character, and the situation as a whole. Carly has shown time and again
that she'll use any means necessary to get what she wants, and it's foolish
of both of them not to realize that Jason's power gives Carly a dangerous
opportunity. It was nice to see Jason come down on her so hard in the
limo, if only for that reason. But the situation itself should be
clarified between them. Yes, Jason has told Carly that he loves Robin.
But the situation has moved beyond that black & white statement. Did he
ever tell Carly that there couldn't be a relationship between them? And if
he did, has he said it lately? What he *really* should start doing is
setting her up on dates with other guys <g>.
Jill again:
>I'm just waiting for the day that Carly starts using Michael as
>a threat to Jason-- i.e. "dump me and you lose Michael." Once
>she does that-- and we all know she WILL-- she'd better watch out.
Oh my word. Another reason why I don't want to watch this situation play
out. I really like Jason with Michael! ;)

Except the way that they've developed Jason, I don't think those are the
kind of subtleties that he notices or realizes the importance of. It was
like on Friday when Carly was getting ready. She was ACHING to get a real
compliment out of him, and he just kept saying, "You look fine."

I used to. And now, as much as it pains me to agree with Brenda's POV at
all, I think that Robin going back to him would be too much like Brenda and
Sonny -- minus the chemistry. I think Jason and Robin do have great
chemistry (at least they used to -- I don't think it's as strong as it used
to be, but I think that's because of the way Robin has been written the
past few months), but not the kind of all-consuming, intensity that Sonny
and brenda had.

Well, we already know that you and I disagree there <g>, and I do think
that the stunt she pulled on AJ while she was pregnant was enough to have
her tarred and feathered for, but as for everything else... <shrug> I
think that it'd be a lot easier for me to work up some righteous
indignation on AJ's behalf if he hadn't returned to being such a
Quartermaine Toady.
Her dealing him such a serious blow while he was working so hard at being
his own person was dispicable, but that was largely because the character
was finally working on finding his own voice and his own respecitiblity and
he was transcending what is so infuriating about the general Quartermaines
(superiority complex -- which all of them but Lila and Emily display to one
extend or another). For me that was TOTALLY shot the SECOND he went back
to the house and ELQ. So my days of sympathizing with AJ are history. If
he wants to be one of Edwards lackies, then he'll get as much sympathy from
me as Ned does.
I always hated the way Ned treated AJ, but now that AJ is doing it back to
Ned it's only worse. When AJ used to stand there and stare at Ned while he
was going off on him and know himself well enough to where he could just
disgard Ned's diatribes as "garbage in, garbage out," I loved AJ. Now that
he feels the need to stoop to Ned's level all the time annoys me to no end.
>BTW...what did ya'll think about the confortation between Robin and
>Carly yesterday? It wasn't what I expected.
It was the first time since Guza has started writing for Robin that I
haven't wanted to smack her.
It breaks my heart that a character I have loved for so long tends to
irritate the daylights out of me as much as she has lately, but she has.
And her finally acknowledging that she DOES try to control Jason made me
finally feel like there is a little bit of hope for her.

I can't believe how much I'm lovin' Lucky & Liz together. Even the
little scenes that they share, you can just imagine how great their
story is going to be. I loved the scene when Lucky was leaving thru
Liz's bedroom window. It was almost as if he was going to kiss her. I
know, I know, that's rushing the plot a bit, but as I've said
before...I'm a dreamer. And also, I must take my hat off to Stuart
Damon, for the 1st time in this whole drug-addicted story I was
impressed. Didn't he really seem to be outta it when he kept
saying...we're under siege, this is what siege is! He was great. Also,
was anyone thinking Kat was in BIG trouble w/Stephan when she told him

Good point. I've become so tired of the "Jason has no emotions" lines from
everybody except Robin and Carly, that I tend to forget that even though he
does have feelings, Jason doesn't have the mastery of relationships that he
ought to.
Jason's been lucky, in a lot of ways. Sonny, Mike, Robin and Emily are all
remarkably straight forward with him; he expects the Qs and cops and rival
mobsters to be his enemies, and they act like it. Carly resides in a
nebulous middle ground: she is his friend, needs his help, but is
certainly not the straight forward "friend" he's used to dealing with.
And he doesn't understand the importance of compliments <g>.

I believe my comment was something unprintable on a family list. :) How
INCREDIBLY STUPID of her! If she'd just gone to see Luke to try and
mediate the problems, that's one thing; Stefan might even have appreciated
it because it demonstrated her concern for Nik.
But going to tell LUKE that Stefan LOVED HIS WIFE AT ONE TIME is like
handing Luke a big ticking bomb and giving him permission to pick the
place and time where it goes off. DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!!
I did love when Stefan went down to slice up the portrait of Laura,
though, and couldn't make himself do it. The only time I find him even
marginally interesting any more is when he's obsessing over Laura. I
don't want L&L to break up, but I even remember enjoying the chemistry
between Laura and Stefan. And Lord knows I don't enjoy the chemistry
between Stefan and Katharine-- ew.

I'm probably not going to say this right... IMO, once Carly realized
that she wanted Jason on more than a
help-me-out-and-pretend-to-be-Michael's-father basis, she ceased being his
friend (and I'm not sure if she even consciously realizes this, though she
obviously does later this week based on spoilage) and started being
someone that will use Jason just as much as anyone else tries to.
Slightly shifting topic: there are two scenes that I KNOW we're
eventually going to get, and that will be horribly, viciously entertaining
to watch:
1) When Carly first threatens Jason, using the loss of Michael. I.e. "if
you don't do such-and-so, I'll take Michael away from you."
2) When Carly tells Robin that she (Carly) can give Jason what Robin can't
(babies, sex, you name it). And if Carly ever says that to Robin, I want
Jason to overhear it-- because I can't think of anything Carly would do
(except taking Michael away) that would make him so angry, or so
dangerous.
> And he doesn't
understand the importance of compliments <g>. >
Does any man, really? If they truly understood how very far a quick "You
look gorgeous" would get them, they'd be complimenting everyone, all the
time, all day... ;)

The only time I find him even
marginally interesting any more is when he's obsessing over Laura. I
don't want L&L to break up, but I even remember enjoying the chemistry
between Laura and Stefan.
Like I said before, I'm a DAYS fan. But secondly, I just love Stephen
Nichols. He's fab! Needless to say, he just gives a story to Kat.

Hi all...
For some reason yesterday's PC & GH had me shaking my head a lot, so
now I'm going to try to remember which things bugged me and see if
anyone else was bothered! :)
One of the things that was bothering me I actually had explained to me
last night...I thought Lark was in that same part of the hospital she
was in before and that all of a sudden there was a room full of wigs
in the Psych ward! But, apparently I missed a sign on the wall that
said they were in the chemotherapy wing, thus making this oddity much
more sensible! However, if they were in the chemo wing, why? Why
were Scott & Eve in the chemo wing at all?? That's not where Frank
is, it's not where the lab is, in fact with the interns on pediatric
rotation and having no cancer patients, why would they even have this
set right now??? Odd, no?? :) (I'm easily bothered...LOL!!)
Let's see...on GH, if you had just been grazed by a bullet, doncha
think you'd need more than a little itty-bitty bandaid?? Much less a
Hot Pink bandaid??? What is she, 8 years old and needs a pretty
boo-boo strip??? Yuck!
Next...when Jason & Carly first walked into her mom's house, did
anyone else notice someone had left a box on the couch??? I think
this was a blooper! Jason immediately picked it up and started
walking around with it and I really don't think it was supposed to be
there. :) After all, if you had just left on a trip to go see your
friend, would you KNOW you were going to have a stroke and die and
that someone would need a box later to pack up your house???
Puh-leeze!! :)
Ashley...can you say anorexic??? Yikes, I've eaten chickens with more
meat on their bones!! LOL!! Why is that supposed to be attractive?
If I want to see someone's bones, I'll go take a biology class!!!
How cute is Jax when he's being sarcastic -- that smirk comes over his
face...argh! He's not all that spectacular sometimes, but when he
thinks he's pulling one over on Brenda, he's just adorable!! LOL!
One last one...How did Alan, Mr. Big Bucks, know exactly where to find
the cheesiest hotel around?? I would imagine it's in a part of Port
Chuckles that he's never even been in before, and yet they had him go
straight from one door to the other -- is this a kickback to when he
used to cheat on Monica?? Was this odd, or was it just me?? LOL!!
So, as you can see, it's the little things in life that keep me
interested...hope I've at least amused someone out there... :)

I don't. But, then again, by the time I started watching GH against after
a one year absense, he was already consumed with Kat. Yick.
So I haven't seen much with them in a year, because I have to fast-forward
through them 99% of the time for the sake of my own sanity.
It might not be so bad if I didn't find Katherine to be an annoyingly
insipid character all on her own. They need to make her a villian again.
I haven't been able to stomach her since she abandoned Damian for "the good
side of the force." ;-)
She may have been a total bitch when she was blackmailing Ned into
marriage, but at least she was interesting.

I don't kow about anyone else, but any man who runs out and gets me
diamonds like other men get candy...I would be clarifying myself right
under his skin for life! I loved that Jason did that, not for Carly's
sake, but just his generousity and kindness. But what won't Carly think

It reminded me of that book "Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde-
where he keeps his portrait of his young self in the attic, which takes
all of his sin, deceit, aging etc. while he persists in his youth. When
he finally destroys the portrait, he himself is also destroyed.
Hmm...any correlation? Perhaps that is why Stefan could not destroy the
portrait-- he would destroy himself by destroying Laura, onto whom he
has projected his passion, obsession, if we want to call it that. (I am
going off of what I have heard, since I missed part of this story.)
Nice intertexuality though-- I WARNED you about this noticing of

IMO, they've always had trouble making Kat an integrated, interesting
character. Her relationship to Dominique got her in, but Dom wasn't from
one of the major GH families, so then they tried to ally her with the Qs,
and that was fun while it lasted... there hasn't been a storyline that
has really meshed her <well> with anyone. The closest I come to liking
her is when she's with Robin-- I like that they're friends, even though
Mac and Kat are over.
:::shrug::: She was far better as Kayla. But Kayla was a far better
character.

This is a <really> good point-- you've articulated what has kinda been in
the back of my mind for a while. I think Jason's kept Michael because he
loves him so much he doesn't see any choice in the matter. And the
likelihood that Marino is going to hurt a BABY is probably pretty
minimal...
But Carly is fair game. And Jason doesn't feel about Carly how he feels
about Robin. And that hasn't hit Carly-- though I don't know if she'd
even care; Carly still thinks what she needs is "stuff" and "status," and
hasn't realized (this is all IMO) that what she's really looking for is
love.

Two points...first, I think I agree with you--I'm not sure
if she would care. Robin realized that her being in danger
hurt Jason; I don't know, even if Jason really cared for
Carly, that Carly would see it from that point of view.
Second, I agree with you on the status part, but I'm not
sure she really needs that much stuff. Tony wasn't
dripping with money, but she really did love him (I think).
But she certainly did want to be a doctor's wife as well.
But I do think that Carly recognizes, at least minimally,
that she's continually looking for love. She admitted as
much in Florida this week, when she acknowledged that
Virginia loved her as much as her fantasy mother ever could
have. Of course, she also claimed that she'd stop looking
for the fantasy. We know better. ;)
On another totally unrelated note, when's Nancy Lee Grahn
coming back? Wah!

Subject: GH/PC: ADMIN: List Rule Refresher
Date: 12 Apr 1998 10:10:15 -0700
Everyone, please remember that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is anyone to
reproduce ANYTHING from this list and post it anywhere else without the
original author's EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION.
That goes for opinions, that goes for fic, that goes for EVERYTHING.
If you want to use something that someone wrote somewhere, get their
permission first.
If you want to include fic from the list archive
(http://www.taiyin.net/lists/fanfiction/) then get the author's permission
first. If they don't give it, or if you want everyone's, just LINK TO THE
ARCHIVE ITSELF.
Now, I am going to attach the list rules below. If you are no familiar
with them, then please read them. There have been a few additions to the
bottom of the list, so if you haven't read them in a while, please re-read
them to avoid getting warnings from either Cagey or myself.
If you have any questions or take issue with any of the rules, you can take
it up with us PRIVATELY at <cagey@geocities.com> and <sigmund@taiyin.net>.
A lot of these rules we've gone over repeatedly, and most of you are very
good about following them. It just seems that an occasional reminder is
called for.
Taiyin
*******
1. Keep posts on topic. We're a small list now,
but as we get larger the volume will (hopefully!)
increase. Topics should be related to GH and/or
PC, the actors involved in either project, etc..
Discussion of other soap operas is fine as long as
they're being discussed in relation to GH/PC.
2. Please be careful with the use of strong imagery
or language in consideration of younger list members.
Think "rated PG-13."
3. No advertising of *any* non-GH/PC related items
or services. Also, no binary files of any sort (including
images, wavs, MOVs, etc).
4. If you get advance information on a new episode,
or see an episode earlier than the national viewing
time, and you want to post about it, please do the following:
**Mark the post as a "spoiler" in the subject header.
**Leave about twelve lines (blank or with non-spoiler
info) at the top of the post.
This ensures that anyone who doesn't like knowing
about an episode ahead of time is "protected." :) The
blank space is for people whose mailers automatically
open up the next piece of mail, without giving them a
chance to see "spoiler" in the header.
5. Most importantly, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO
FLAMING ONLIST. We have absolutely zero tolerance
for this kind of behaviour. Flames can kill a list,
permanently damage relationships, and make life a
lot less fun for everyone.
What's a flame?
NOT A FLAME: "I don't think so-and-so is a very good actor."
FLAME: "So-and-so is a twit who can't act and has no brain."
Broadly defined, a flame is a personally derogatory,
inflammatory comment about another list member,
their progenitors, or about any of the actors, writers,
directors, producers or crew of "GH" or "PC."
Disagreements-- even heated ones-- are expected.
But the minute you start slamming someone personally,
you will face the Wrath of Taiyin and Cagey.
First offense: offender is unsubscribed for one week.
Second offense: offender is unsubscribed to the GH/PC
list for a minimum of three months. If the offender
returns and flames again, they're offlist permanently.
And no, it doesn't matter that the actors, writers, etc.
from "GH" or "PC" aren't onlist; we won't put up with
anyone flaming them anyway. There are slander laws
against it. It's also common courtesy.
Determination of what is (and what is not) a flame is
made by the listowners, and their decisions are final.
Determinations of any penalties associated with flames
are also made by the listowners, and their decisions are
final.
6. Related to #5, the listowners reserve the right to "kill"
any discussion threads which either of the listowners
deem offensive, or which appear to be degenerating into
a flame war. If either one of us declares a topic "dead,"
it's dead. Anyone who continues the discussion thread,
against our express *posted* wishes, will be
immediately noposted for one week.
7. No "me too" posts. If you agree with something someone
said, and yet don't have anything new to add to it, then send
it in private email. Please don't waste bandwidth with "me
toos."
8. When quoting back someone else's post, please quote no
more than four lines per comment. Common netiquette dictates
that quoting back an entire post just to add a line or two at the
end is extremely inconsiderate and annoying. If you have
something to add, then please do, but we saw the original post,
so there is no need to see it again. Also, please make sure to
distinguish your comments from the original text. Most mailers
do this authomatically by adding ">" at the beginning of each line.
If your's doesn't, however, then please find some means of
doing it manually.
9. Signature files. Many people have .sigs. Please keep
your .sig to a maximum of six lines. (For the same reasons
as the "me too" and quote length rules.)
10. Fanfiction is not only welcomed, it's encouraged.
However, please be sure to keep any and all fic within the
ratings parameters of the list. Also please restrict posting of
fic to the Kevin & Lucy list to fic pertaining primarily (not
only, by any strech of the imagination) to the caharacters of
Kevin and Lucy. For the GH/PC list, fic is welcome for any
characters, past or present. All fic will be automatically
archived at the list fanfiction archive,
http://www.taiyin.net/lists/fanfiction/, unless otherwise
instructed by the author. At no time is fic permited to be
taken from the archive and reproduced without the express
written consent of the original author.
11. Messages posted to the lists are intended for the members
of the list community. They are not to be shared/send/forwarded
elsewhere without the authors express written permission.
12. And last, but not least, we reserve the right to deny
subscription (new, renewed, or continued) to the list
for any individual(s).
Again, welcome! If you have any questions about these
rules, please contact either one of us offlist. If you
have subscription problems or questions, the fastest
way to get help is to e-mail the listowners at
<sigmund@taiyin.net> or <cagey@geocities.com>.

Yeah, and to tell you the truth, that really irritates me. I seriously
hope it wasn't him. Aside from the fact that he was the absolute ONLY
thing I liked about the whole PC High storyline, I think it's a cop out,
frankly. I think that it's much more compelling a storyline if Liz doesn't
know her attacker. Let them find him, sure, but I don't want it to be
someone she knows.
There are very different sets of emotional issues that have to be dealt
with when the situation is acquantance rape versus some scumbag dragging an
anonymous girl off a park bench. And I think that it's just far too
contrived for them to make it be someone that she knew at this point. I
think the anonymous version is much stronger with how this storyline has
been set up and I really hope they continue to go that direction.
I'm afraid they probably won't, though.

Well, Guza said from the beginning that the "whodunnit" aspect of this was

change that.

But, even beyond that, the way the attack happened, it's really unlikely

But yes, it was Ned and Lois.
On another "anniversary" note... Upon reflection, I am almost positive I
saw some interviews in advertisements for the prime time show that didn't
make it into the program itself. Presumably that was because of time
limitations, but the real question is--am I simply losing my mind? In
particular, I vaguely recall a segment with the actresses who play Robin

You know, Taiyin, I'm really glad you said that. It's been bugging me
since I read Danielle's post this morning. While I don't think it beyond
the realm of possibility that her attacker *is* someone she knows, I'll be
disappointed if it does turn out to be the teacher. First of all, I don't
like the notion of the teacher being the obvious scapegoat--it's cliche and
disturbing, and a cheap way of playing on parents' fears that anyone could
take advantage of their child. Second, I think the notion that Liz may
never find out the identity of her attacker is more true to life, and, to
take the discussion back to the realm of soaps <g>, has better dramatic
potential.
On the other hand, I'm willing to cut Guza some slack and hope that he's
just playing on the fact that Liz is going to suspect *everybody* for a
long time, until she manages to return to some semblance of a normal life.
I really hope that's the way this development plays out.

They should have ended it with Kevin & Lucy.
My own obvious bias aside, they are currently the only totally happy,
serious, content, marriage-bound couple on either show. And they've
certainly been around enough, and together long enough to warrant it.
Geez, the only other couples I can even THINK of are Alan and Monica (who
wouldn't be put in there with this year's date, anyway), Joe & Karen (who
haven't been together long enough to be THAT serious), and Kat & Bat (and
you all KNOW my feeling about them).
So they should just ad K&L to the end of that promo -- after all, they are
still technically on GH, too.
Oops, I almost forgot, they don't DO promos of Kevin and Lucy.
Bah.

Yeah, & this is Soaps! But I can see where finding out that the teacher
(maybe) is the rapist could lead to so many more situations. Remember,
that was the guy who cut her some slack about stealing the test. You

kept thinking of Logan's comments about how he hates what's being done to

True. I'm hoping, though <knock on wood>, that Cagey is right: they are
trying to show that Lizzie is still so freaked out by the whole thing that
she suspects just about everyone.
I also agree with Cagey, that I think laying it on Murdy is a very cheap
trick -- not to mention horribly cliched.
>(maybe) is the rapist could lead to so many more situations. Remember,
>that was the guy who cut her some slack about stealing the test. You
>could see how he could use that against her.
And that is what's nagging at me about this.
And it's also the biggest reason that I hope they don't do it. They showed
a really cool teacher, who related to his students, tried to h*lp them out,
cut them some slack and didn't play the "heavy-handed parent" role with
them. He was the kind of teacher that kids hope they get. I have a
problem with them turning around and basically saying, "Oh, no, the only
reason he was so nice and understanding to his students, especially Lizzie,
is because he wanted to rape her." Pfft!
I think that's a deplorable message on one level, and I think it's cheap,
two-dimensional drama on another level. I think the whole thing would be
so much more complex and interesting for the characters if Lizzie had to
come to grips with the fact that she might never find the guy who did it,
or if she could never understand why some stranger would grab her out of
nowhere like that -- without knowing her.
>And imagine Lucky finding
>out it was him. Geesh!!! I could see him go a lil' whacky...ala Luke! I
Well, I think that is pretty likely no matter WHO they end up pinning it
on. Lucky will probably go postal no matter what.
I also think that they brushed over something rather conveniently when
Lucky and Liz were talking: they pointed out that 80% of all rape victims
who come forward know their attackers. What they neglected to point out is
that most of that 80% are "date rape" scenarios, and the remainder are
generally people like caretakers or building maintenance crew members who
are obsessed with someone they see all the time.
And part of the reason that those women come forward is BECAUSE they
recognize their attacker.
Now, aside from the fact that, technically, Mr. Murdy could qualify under
the "obsessed" category... that's just so contrived. Especially since Mr.
Murdy was about the only adult that Lizzie actually liked.

That's where I think it all lies. That's where the drama would really
be. Tayin, you hit on a lot of stuff about this today. Kinda makes you
wonder 'bout people. There's gotta be a time when Lizzie just flips out.

Just read in SOD that Edward Albert is leaving PC and that Devlin's exit
will be very "shocking"...so what do y'all think it'll be:
A) Arrested for stealing credit for Karen, Jake, and Joe's experiments (or
maybe in connection with Eve's case)? And let's not forget testing drugs on
Frank, after all, Lark DID see him do it.
or....
B) Murdered...after all, there have been a few hints dropped, like Scott's
threat today (Monday). Perhaps he's murdered and Scott is the suspect...but
who'll it REALLY be...Lark? Joe? Julie (maybe she finds out what he did to
Frank)?
I mean, the only other thing I can come up with that would be shocking is if
Devlin came out of the closet, decided to become a transvestite and went on the
run with Lark and her ratty wig. LOL!
But seriously, I'm going to miss Edward Albert...what a babe!! Guess I better
get that fan letter sent off to him soon...

I must also admit, yet again I was shocked that Jax took part in the

I don't really for it either, it reminds me to much of Nik mooning

I am still trying to talk myself into giving him a chance. But I

I think definately B except I wonder if it will be Frank who
kills him. He could get off murder rap because of the aggression and
violent tendancies the serum causes. Oh and remember Bennett told
Chris that one of the lab rats had killed his cage partner! Of course

Eeeeewwwwww! Yuck.
Four years. Over four years. FOUR. That is how long Kevin & Lucy fans
have been waiting. Four WHOLE ENTIRE years.
And Kat & Bat get it in a year.
Hmph.
And people wonder why I don't trust/can't stand TPTB.
Grump.

On the positive (well, for me, at any rate. It's obvious I'm not speaking
for those people who like Katherine and Stefan together) side, I wonder
whether the wedding will go through. Wouldn't the week of Stefan's
marriage to Katherine be the perfect time for Laura to return to PC? <veg>

Too true. What a delightful thought, actually.
I can just picture all of Port Charles gathered at the wedding, and just as
Stefan is about to say "I do" the rusting of the guests gets his attention
and he turns to see Laura arrive with Lulu in her arms -- leaving Stefan
dumb-struck and totally incapable of continuing with the ceremony.
Any variation on that scenario would be perfectly acceptable, too, of course.
Naturally, there would have to be some more dramatic reason surface for
Stephan to use as an excuse, since he's not going to admit that he loves
Laura instead of Katherine.
I can hope, anyway.

Oh, ew. Ick. Ptui. Ack. Gag. Barf. Hurl. Ralph.
If I can't even stand to watch them standing in the same room together,
how in the name of Elvis am I going to be able to bear a wedding?
And-- as much as I long for Laura to return-- I'd really rather she didn't
return at the behest of Stefan or Nik. Let the woman return under her own

This is the part I find unfathomable. I know, I know, you and a TON of
other people have all told me how magnificent he was in the pre-Katherine
days, but since that was during my GH-hiatus, I never saw any of it and I
can't even begin to imagine it.
The first thing I saw from him was when he shot Kat.
He aimed too low.
The only Laura-obsessing I've seen at all is very recently, and it hasn't
been enough to do much more than pique my interest. It gets me to stop
fast-forwarding for a few minutes, at least. Until Kat comes in the room,
anyway.

It seems like I am not on the same page with this as everyone else. I guess
we will have to wait and see who the culprit ends up being, but I, for one,
have had Mr. Murty as the number one suspect the entire time. If they do
make it him, it just seems like another predictable turn for me.
It was unthinkable to me from the start that they would make it be Tony, no
matter what else they do to his character, I can't see them making him a
rapist of a teenager-- Audrey's grandchild, no less.
I never thought too much in depth aboutthe implications of having the teacher
be the rapist. I guess that is a scary concept. Mr. Murty has always been a
peripheral character. We know him as the teacher, the "cool one," but we
never knew him well. He is also expendable, there is not much of an emotional
investment in him. If you run through the characters on the show, there
really isn't anyone else, UNLESS they made it someone she didn't know. I
guess maybe one of Jason's bodyguards, someone like that, but Mr. Murty was
already connected with the kids' story.
I think they will want to give the story some closure, and have the rapist
caught. It would seem to me as much of a gyp to have it be some stranger
we've never seen, as it was to make Dorman's killer that Tin Man guy. How can
you figure out a mystery on a show when they throw in the guilty party at the
end?
I noticed a few days after the rape when Liz was in Kelly's with Lucky, Mr.
Murty was there. He kind of smiled at her. She was freaked out in general at
being out among people. Later she said something to Lucky about "what if the
guy who did this was right there in Kelly's" and "he could be anyone-- even
someone I know."
So I don't think this is a hasty rewrite, or change of plan. I think they
meant it to be the teacher all along.

I LOVED it when he showed up at the mansion with frozen TV dinners. And
his comment about some some people thinking that the Q's couldn't survive
without the staff was adorable -- not to mention right on the money.>>
I have always adored Reggie myself, and loved seeing him in his everyday
clothes, going out to join the picketers. I also love the relationship
between Reginald and Lila. I liked to see her sticking up for him, and so
proud of his position with the strikers, even though it was throwing her house
into chaos.
>>The coffee maker part, though, was a bit much. That was one of those
moments that I couldn't h*lp but cringe at. As I was watching that scene I
kept thinking of Logan's comments about how he hates what's being done to
the Q's and during that scene I couldn't argue.<<
Yeah that was horrible. We've been getting more of the same all week. While
some of it is funny, he's made the Q's into a pack of bumbling idiots. He is
really tearing them to shreds. I find it hard to believe that Monica, AJ, or
any of them just haven't a clue about the coffee pot, the toaster, a
microwave. It's a wonder Guza's version of the Q's are able to dress
themselves.
I think it would have been more fun to get a replacement staff of scabs and
see how the Q's deal with them. Maybe a different butler everytime we see
them, as they drive them all away. Or a sweet cook who will cater to their
every whim-- but drive them crazy with too much sweetness, and have them
begging for Cook back. How about a few scenes of Reggie slipping in to see
how Lila is making out.
That would be better, but it is difficult to imagine that the Q's could not
find a way to to keep the strikers at bay, keep garbage from being dumped on
the lawn, and to get some kind of help in the house. Barring that, at least a
few of them ought to have enough sense working basic appliances.

TUESDAY, April 21
Wonderful, wonderful
news!.......
Genie Francis is returning to GENERAL HOSPITAL
to resume the role of Laura Spencer. Her first
airdate will be Wednesday, May 20. Laura's return
to Port Charles will occur after a surprise visit from
Nikolas (Tyler Christopher). Many more surprises
are in store when Laura arrives at Wyndemere on
the night of Stefan (Stephen Nichols) and
Katherine's (Mary Beth Evans) engagement ball. I
can't wait to see what happens. While I know the
story -- I'm so looking forward to seeing Genie act it
out! Hey Genie -- we're glad you're back where you
belong!
Now, on to May sweeps highlights for PORT
CHARLES and ALL MY CHILDREN. Tomorrow, I'll
give you the sweeps highlights for ONE LIFE TO
LIVE and GENERAL HOSPITAL.
Everything may look the same, but looks are
deceiving. It's an entire month of mystery on "ABC
MAYTIME." Art imitates life in Port Charles when
the fiction of "General Homicide" becomes a real
unsolved mystery. Expect the unexpected as
residents of Pine Valley go back to the future and
unveil secrets of the past that will jeopardize
everyone's present.
On PC the word "fiction" takes on a whole new
meaning. Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) had no idea that his
tall tale, known as "General Homicide," would not
only reveal secrets from his own past, but would
also put the entire town in danger as a serial killer
targets the people Kevin fictionalized in his book.
While the murder mystery has everyone watching
their backs, Chris (Nolan North) is finally exposed
for who he really is -- but again, looks are deceiving.
As Scott (Kin Shriner) and Eve (Julie Pinson) finally
give in to absolute pleasure, their new romance is
already being driven apart by suspicion, as fingers
point to Eve and no alibi is in sight. The always
dubious Lucy (Lynn Herring) not only believes that
Eve is behind the murder, but tries to prove that
Eve's secret past will help free Kevin from any
possible blame. Frank (Jay Pickett) careens out of
control, and Julie's (Lisa Ann Hadley) world comes
crashing down around her as she struggles to
understand what has happened to the man she
loves. Matt (Mitch Longley) and Ellen (Debbi
Morgan) hit a critical juncture in their relationship,
as Matt is forced to make a choice between the two
women in his life. Finally, an unknown woman and
her child arrive in town and manage to threaten
Karen (Jennifer Hammon) and Joe's (Michael Dietz)
relationship. But, why?
On AMC it's "Mystery Science Theater," Pine
Valley style. "Murder, mayhem and matrimony"
unfold as Tad (Michael E. Knight), Adam (David
Canary), Camille (Schuyler Grant) and Jack (Walt
Willey) travel to none other than Pigeon Hollow on a
fact-finding mission to do a little "digging" into the
past. What they uncover about the death of
Camille's mother will shock viewers.
While Jack is off playing good cop, Mike Roy (Nick
Surovy) is definitely playing bad cop where Erica
(Susan Lucci) is concerned. Some things never
change: The sparks between Erica and Mike ignite
again! Will she give in to old desires, or will she be
loyal to her good cop, Jackson? This is Erica Kane,
after all.
Mateo (Mark Consuelos) continues to "flash
forward" and it becomes increasingly more evident
that he must make changes to his and Hayley's
(Kelly Ripa) life to avoid the peril he keeps seeing
ahead of them. After a suspicious elevator crash,
Stuart (David Canary) lies injured in Pine Valley
Hospital and a devoted Marian (Jennifer Bassey)
nurses him back to health. Interestingly, all fingers
point to Camille as the prime suspect in this
mysterious malfunction.
Sparks fly as Belinda (Amelia Marshall) and Keith
(Norm Lewis) go head-to-head when Brooke (Julia
Barr) goes on trial for murder. Belinda and Trevor
(James Kiberd) team up to defend. Finally, here
comes that bride, Janet (Robin Mattson), with her
groom in question, Axel (Nick Sullivan). Will they
say their I do's?
Now, here's a sneak peek at Wednesday's shows.
On PC, Scott makes a startling discovery in the
hospital lab! At AMC, Mateo realizes he has "seen"
virtually everything Brooke describes to him. Over at
OLTL, Georgie gives Todd and Viki copies of the
photo she made. And on GH, what is Jerry Jacks
up to now?
Well, that's all for now.
See you tomorrow,
ABCJoanne
me again. sonny AND laura--all in the space of one week?!? as taiyin
would say... <happy dance>!!!!! now we can REALLY get this storyline
underway...

Hi all...
Has anyone else been screaming at their tv sets lately??? The
commercial for GH with Tony's verdict and the consequences of it?
(I'm assuming that's not a spoiler 'cause I'm not saying what the
commercial showed!) Why is ABC putting such big spoilers in their
commercials?? It makes it so aggravating -- it's like waiting for the
other shoe to drop for days on end! They can build suspense without
spoiling the storyline, can't they?? Even TV Guide last week had a
major spoiler for a different ABC soap. I don't understand this stuff!
On another topic, what does everyone think the Frank storyline on
PC??? Personally, I'm not enjoying it, though the acting is top-rate.
Frank looks like a whole different person somehow since they changed
his personality. I realize they have to make Devlin evil for the next
steps to occur, but I really liked Frank better before!
Just my well-taxed two cents...

You are a canny one ;)
I think that, given Robin's testimony and the fact that
Brad M. is still on contract, the verdict wasn't really in
doubt. But in principle, I thoroughly agree. For example,
I would have preferred to see the spoiler that they
revealed about Carly as it happened.
<sigh>
My biggest complaint, however, lies with Alexis. Why, oh
why, oh why didn't she just tell Ned that Helena had
threatened her life and she felt compelled to defend Tony.
Yes, I realize then we wouldn't get to see Ned thundering
and brooding quite so much, but it would have been the
logical thing to do.
Grrrrrrrrr.

I'm blanking on the name of the actor who plays Frank, but
he manages to project such intensity.... He'd make a
*wonderful* villain. I don't think Frank would, however.
Maybe Frank has a twin that nobody knows about. In fact,
maybe Frank's twin could turn up in Kevin's mirror as a
change of pace, and thereby spare Jon from having to shave.
I'm not saying that I advocate the latter, but since
Taiyin's not here, I won't have to listen to her taunt me

the hearing? Of course it was a Sarah Brown tummy rub, but it made me
laugh nevertheless. It was just when Tony is put on the stand-- the
camera cuts back to her and she must not have been aware of it.
More important random thnoughts :) I loved the scene with Jason (what
can I say? Any scene with Jason and I revert back to Jr. high
adolescent crushes) talking about Michael and his family's reaction to
his comments and his love for Michael-- also, Jason's comment about the
5th amendment "My favorite one" was classic. When I heard that Jason
really got on Carly's case about what she said to Robin, I was hoping it
was a la the car scene after she called the strike. Of course, I was
surprised that it was very controlled anger, but I have to admit it was
pretty effective and believable. Jason isn't an out of control guy, so
to play that would have shown a man who can't handle those kinds of
things. I must say I really like the way that Steve Burton is playing
this character-- and who was it who wondered how long it would be before
Carly held Michael over his head? We didn't have to wait for long!
I have also been trying to guess what Helena wants with Tony-- does
anyone have any theories? I can't come up with a one...

Why is ABC putting such big spoilers in their
commercials??
Probably because even though we all think they are spoilers, they are
stepping stones to the next "part" of the storyline which will be so
much bigger.
by the way, is anyone thinking that the Jax family is somehow connected
to Sonny coming back? Especially when Lady Jane said to Brenda, "what
if" Sonny came back, who would you choose??? Hmmm?

Today we have.......
sweeps info for all of you
GENERAL HOSPITAL fans!
On GH, it's "confrontations, collisions and
celebrations." One plane crash plus two people at
odds equals many people's despair. As Brenda
(Vanessa Marcil) and Jason's (Steve Burton) ELQ
flight disappears without the ability to radar anyone
in Port Charles for help, they come to terms with
one another. In the meantime, Jax (Ingo
Rademacher) realizes how much he loves Brenda
and sets out on a mission to find her before it's too
late.
<ick. gag. choke. puke. retch. sorry, couldn't help myself.>
Robin (Kimberly McCullough) also admits to
herself that she still loves Jason, hoping and praying
he's still alive.
Stefan (Stephen Nichols) and Katherine (Mary Beth
Evans) decide to celebrate their engagement by
throwing a Bacchanalia Ball. As guests arrive in
masks and costumes, an unlikely union is formed
between Luke (Anthony Geary) and Alexis (Nancy
Lee Grahn),
<YES, YES, YES!!!!!>
which leads to a tragic event that will
shock everyone. What masquerade would be
complete without a little romance? Elizabeth
(Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson)
<at the risk of repeating myself...YES, YES, YES!!!!!>
not only crash the party but find a moment to trip
the light fantastic. Mac (John J. York) and Felicia
(Kristina Wagner) struggle over how to tell everyone
that they're not really engaged, since everyone but
Mac and Felicia can see why they're perfect for one
another. Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) continues to
surprise everyone, including herself, as she
becomes closer to Carly (Sarah Brown) and vows to
stop the Quartermaines from using Jason's
disappearance to claim baby Michael. And finally,
Alan's (Stuart Damon) drug addiction is no longer
his best-kept secret.
<did i mention that i'm REALLY looking forward to next month?!?>
Now, here's a sneak peek at Thursday's shows. On
PORT CHARLES, is Kevin's book actually coming
to life? At AMC, Erica wants to hire Axel to portray
her stalker. Over at OLTL, Nora thinks she sees Bo
and Georgie in a clinch. And on GH, Helena
privately vows revenge on Katherine.
Well, that's it for now.
See you tomorrow,

Awww, come on -- what woman wouldn't want Jax??? LOL!! I think
Vanessa Marcil summed it up perfectly in the 35th anniversary special
when she said something like "Jax is incredible - the perfect man...he
does not exist in real life!" Brenda and Sonny had electricity, yes,
but let's face it, he's not good for her. That was an emotionally
abusive relationship, and having been through one of those myself, I
need not watch it on tv! Jax respects her as well as loves her and
that's a true basis for a relationship. If he can learn to trust her
again, I think they're good for each other. He makes her want to be a
stronger woman and that's good. <g> Ok...off my relationship soapbox
now...

According to Steve Burton's interview with Cindi Rinehart (NW
Afternoon) he and Robin will never get back together - she'll wind up
with Nickolas, prince of darkness....<eg>

The only thing more fun to watch than Ned & Alexis is Luke &
Alexis!!!! I love their bantering! However, I do NOT want Luke &
Alexis "together" - that would not be good. I realize with Genie
Francis coming back she'll blow up to find out all the things that
have happened that Luke kept from her, but I don't want them with
other people - they've come through too much together to blow it now.
And frankly, if she has come back just to have them break up it'll be
a huge waste of talent!

"Finally"??? What is that, the understatement of the year...the
decade??? I am SO tired of that storyline!! As a disabled person who
lives in chronic pain, I have a real problem with the way this whole
thing was introduced anyway, but that's another soapbox.

Ok...I know this is a GH/PC list, but since someone else included
this AMC piece, I have to ask - did anyone else see Michael Knight

That cracked me up -- did he stop for a pit stop before taping the

i can deal with the "what woman wouldn't want jax" part, really i
can...it's just this whole j&b revisited thing that i can't handle.
it's preposterous. if that man takes her back (which we all know he
will) he's a bigger idiot than MOST men are. she dumped him, numerous
times, for another man, the self-professed "love of her life," and NOW
he'd like to settle for second best? please. the man deserves better.
if he asks nicely, i'll give him my phone number... :)
>Brenda and Sonny had electricity, yes,
>but let's face it, he's not good for her. That was an emotionally
>abusive relationship, and having been through one of those myself, I
>need not watch it on tv!
i disagree. not about the part about them not being good for each
other--they clearly weren't--but i thought that was part of what made
them such great fun to watch! i don't mean to belittle anyone else's
pain, nor do i think it would be fun to watch one of my friends go
through such a relationship, or to go through one myself--but maurice
benard said it himself when he said watching s&b was like watching a
train wreck--you don't WANT to look, but you can't help yourself. it's
tv, it's drama, it's larger than life...it's just too good not to watch!
now, would i want them back together when sonny returns? no, i don't
think so. i think what tptb did to sonny makes it impossible for any
self-respecting woman to forgive him. but that doesn't mean i want
brenda back together with jax either. there ARE other men in the world,
aren't there?
>Jax respects her as well as loves her and
>that's a true basis for a relationship.
pardon me??? now THIS i REALLY disagree with. respects her? please.
jax likes to play, and jax likes to win. do you remember how he first
came to port charles, trying to woo lois away from ned? or how he
blackmailed brenda into marrying him with that little ultimatum of his?
or how he conveniently forgot to mention his previous not-quite-dead
wife? or, and this is the worst part, in my view--how he's consistently
leading her on now? ok, we have the advantage of knowing that guza WILL
put them back together sooner or later. but let's pretend we didn't
know that--that these were two people we knew (god, i wish!). and jax
person, despite telling brenda person in no uncertain terms that there
is NO hope for a reconciliation between the two of them (remember--we
DON'T KNOW he's wrong) continues to let her spend all her money (money
she doesn't have, i might add) on him, despite the fact that he's a
gazillionaire, and almost gets her shot (i don't count that nick as
actually BEING shot), and kisses her but then says "no, i didn't mean
that"...if brenda person were your best friend, what would YOU tell her?
keep on trying? or GIVE UP ALREADY--HE'S LEADING YOU ON!!!
>If he can learn to trust her
>again, I think they're good for each other. He makes her want to be >a
stronger woman and that's good.
i don't think brenda is capable of being a stronger woman until she
severs all ties with both sonny AND jax, realizes there ARE other men in
the world, and--more importantly--realizes she can live just fine
without ANY of them. and maybe learns how to make a decision on her own
someday. that'd be nice, too. :)
> <g> Ok...off my relationship soapbox now...
yeah, me too! this subject makes me a little rabid...in case you hadn't
noticed!
> According to Steve Burton's interview with Cindi Rinehart (NW
>Afternoon) he and Robin will never get back together - she'll wind up
>with Nickolas, prince of darkness....<eg>
i remember reading a quote by guza saying r&j still had a lot of
unfinished business--but i've decided he lies when it's convenient, so
who knows.
> The only thing more fun to watch than Ned & Alexis is Luke &
>Alexis!!!! I love their bantering! However, I do NOT want Luke &
>Alexis "together" - that would not be good.
oh, i don't think THAT will happen. guza also said that breaking up l&l
would be like breaking up his parents. i just meant that i LOVE luke
and alexis together as sparring partners, or reluctant (on alexis's
part) co-conspirators. i just love their scenes together, and think if
the two of them team up against helena, sparks could REALLY fly!
so i wouldn't worry about genie--i think she's got some GREAT stuff
waiting for her when she comes back!

Well, I'm back. The Magic Kingdom was delightful, and Tuesday it was HOT.
Niece, nephew and sisters were DYING to come home by yesterday, though.
Thank gods. None of them actually have to go to work today.
While we were in line for Star Tours the guy who works there started
teasing me that everyone else in our group was wearing Disney hats, and
what was the matter with me? I was wearing my GH hat that I bought at the
Museum of TV and Radio last month when Cagey and I were in LA for our PC
set tour. So I told him that I *was* wearing a Disney hat. GH is owned by
ABC, which is owned by Disney. So neener, neener, neener.
He was quite amused.
Anyway, 'scuse me whilst I play "catch-up.:

But, he's a BLOND. ;-) (I have a SERIOUS allergy to blond guys, don't ask

opinion of Jax -- especially after that assassination attempt business.
And I still can't watch Brenda at ALL.
Julie wrote:

I agree. Part of what was enticing about them is that the ONLY place Sonny
and Brenda would EVER be able to be together would be in a soap. The rest
of the world would have chewed them up and spit them out in the first six
months. It made for fabulous escapism.

The way those three have been written over the past couple of years
sometimes make me doubt that.
>if brenda person were your best friend, what would YOU tell her?
>keep on trying? or GIVE UP ALREADY--HE'S LEADING YOU ON!!!
You know, despite the fact that I can't watch them at all, I have to say
that even on fast-forward they've been looking more and more like this all
the time. If <groan> they are going to get back together, yes, absolutely
Brenda needs to make some SERIOUS amends with Jax and he needs to learn to
trust her. But she's jumping through hoops and he's playing games. Aside
from the fact that I actually (for once) agree with Jax's position
regarding Brenda at the moment, he keeps sending her totally mixed signals
-- the kind that men trash women for sending ALL the time.

<snort> I still haven't made up my mind about that pair at all. On one
hand I like it MUCH better now that they are moving Robin away from the
conventional stuff she was doing before (pre-med, college, etc.), but I
really go back and forth a lot as to whether or not I like Nikolas at all
-- never mind my recent complaints about what they've been doing with Robin.
Julie wrote:
>i remember reading a quote by guza saying r&j still had a lot of

That makes him pretty much like every other member of TPTB. Though, it's
entirely possible that "unfinished business" (which I do agree they still
have) could be dealt with without them getting back together. And
considering the way that Guza tends to write for Robin, I think I may
actually prefer it that way.
OTOH, when it comes to Guza's comments regarding Kevin/Lucy/Scott (that
there is just too much history to resist delving into when it comes to
Scott and Lucy -- bleah. Been there, done that. Scott bolted from town
with a two day old infant and left Lucy standing in the snow in a cemetery
with a seven digit check that was supposed to heal her broken heart.
Grrrrr.), I could SERIOUSLY get behind the idea that he was just BIG TIME
lying. Please, please, please.

I second THAT emotion.

Nah, never gonna happen. Even with Guza talking out of both sides of his
mouth, he'd never do it. He couldn't afford to. I do wish he'd put a lid
on it already, though. He spent MONTHS going on and on and on and on about
how he could NEVER break up Luke and Laura, and talking about how it'd be
like his parents getting a divorce, and then in the past two months he says
stuff like, "We're not afraid to deconstruct the greatest love of all

Probably. Let me check at the office.

You know, I've had much more cause to complain about the way that Robin has
been written lately, but part of me still has this nagging feeling that
Guza has essentially 'neutered' Alexis, too. I know she needs
vulnerabilities, but I have a real problem watching her cower in front of
Helena over and over and over again. Yes, everyone knows not to mess with
the Queen of Mean, but eventually a person is going to get sick of having
her life threatened every other day and just say, "Fine, do it! But I'm
not going to be your lackey anymore!"
Maybe I watch too much La Femme Nikita. <sigh>
But I have an even bigger problem with the way that, in general, she seems
to be lacking some of her fire lately. I hope it was mostly because they
were trying to hide NLG's pregnancy, so they just didn't use her very much.
Maybe this alliance with Luke will h*lp; they do bring out the fighters in
each other.

Jay Pickett. And I'd never thought of him in a villain role before.
Hmmmm.... yum. I think you're right about it not quite working for Frank,
though. The way the character has been established over most of the past

Here's what you missed...
THURSDAY, April 23
Helena hoped to make inroads at Wyndemere
while Stefan was away, but was rebuffed by
both Nikolas and Katherine. Helena privately
vowed revenge on Katherine. With Luke listening
via his audio bug, Helena opened the trunk
Alexis brought from Greece. Luke became disturbed
when Helena whispered LauraÆs name.
<yeah, that was kind of creepy--it was the final
scene of the ep--helena opened the trunk (we, of
course, didn't get to see what was in it) and
just whispered, "Laura..." cut to luke's face...
he was NOT pleased>
Nikolas and Robin had dinner at Wyndemere and
she saw how easily Nikolas was with the power
that he would inherit. Nikolas showed Robin how
to fence and a moment of physical proximity affected
them both. Brenda celebrated with Jax over her new
modeling contract. Brenda later became angry when
she thought that Jax had set up the job.
<well...she overheard a phone call between the guy
who hired her and a "mr. jax," telling him it was
all set. my guess is that it's jerry though...>
Alexis evaded LukeÆs questions about why she had
taken TonyÆs case. Alexis later took a file given
to her by Helena to Dara, who was threatened by its
contents.
<alexis is nearing the breaking point, i think. she
looked physically ill when she was more-or-less
blackmailing dara (with the unknown contents of
helena's file). plus, luke's parting shot to alexis
was something like, "one day helena's going to ask
you to do something that just turns your stomach..."
and alexis replied, "that day has already come.">
Aware of NikolasÆs interest in Robin, Jason asked Luke
if he thought that the Cassadines would hurt her. Luke
told Jason that Robin could be in danger if she has a
relationship with Nikolas.
<specifically, jason was asking if robin would be in
danger from helena if she spent time with nik. luke,
obviously, said yes--that all cassadines are dangerous,
some obviously so, like helena, and some in a more
subtle way, like nik. luke also asked jason to have
his men follow lucky whenever he leaves helena's yacht,
to see if he can figure out where he's living.>
Jason and Mike caught up with one another and shared
their bafflement over RobinÆs defense of Tony at the trial.

I'm doing a 4 page research paper for my English class. Do you guys
think I'll have enough information to do on it Luke & Laura? If so, can
you give me ideas on where I can get their complete history (e.g. web
sites addresses).
Thanks for your help.

I would suggest doing a hotbot or altavista web search for general

Yeah, you should. Start at http://www.taiyin.net/links/ and look under
"Spencers."
I was just at another GH/PC page recently that had a LOT of Luke and Laura
history. It is at http://members.xoom.com/LukeLaura/spencer.html Also,
another one that is very good is linked from the Ultimate Links Page also,
and it chronicles the events of the night that Luke raped Laura.
Since I don't know exactly what your paper is about, I'm not sure what
exactly you are looking for, but those two (at least) should be a big h*lp.
Good luck.

Okay, was it just a matter of time or what the Carly went off the deep
end???? (I'm having a flashback of Heather Webber, here) w/the
sanitarium business. And Hasn't Tony been shot WAY too many times????
I must tell you that I CANNOT wait for the return of Sonny (but I feel
that's gonna be a let down....those short returns usually are) and the
return of Laura. I was basically jumping up & down when I heard of
her...."finally"....return! Can't wait, the fireworks are gonna be going

As much as I love to hate the character of Carly :), Sarah Brown did an
exceptional job with these scenes-- I forgot about everything she has
ever done to tick off everyone and I felt horrible for her! She was
phenomenal yesterday--
I was watching the other day with one of my friends and they were
noticing the way Alan takes his pills- head thrown back, water etc. For
someone who supposedly is popping pills all day long he sure makes a big
deal about it! My apologies if this has been talked about before, when
the storyline first started, but I have to take medicine everyday, and I
don't even need water anymore-someone else I know who has chronic
headaches, same thing- you get so used to it you just take them-- well,
I think this could be voted most unimportant post of the week :) Just
something I noticed--

Yeah, HELLO! Taggart notices this and every doctor in GH has no clue,
especially his wife. Poor acting I think on Stuart's part. But he's not
looking too hot these days. Originally they said he was to lose weight
to look the part. Does ANYONE think he looks thinner??

Date: 28 Apr 1998 18:29:22 -0600
Hello all-
I know that we talked about this before, but I think that now we are
definately seeing that Liz's teacher, Murty?, is being set up as the
attacker-- (so I am not going to put spoiler space- hope that's okay,
since I won't talk about anything that hasn't happened.) I am not
entirely sure how I feel about this, but as an educator myself, I am
currently feeling like it is a cheap shot for drama's sake. Of course,
I can only speak for myself, but to set up the teacher as someone trying
to help Liz, someone who can understand kids and is supposedly an
excellent teacher-- to then turn around and make that person an
attacker, emotionally and physically, of the student he has been shown
to help? It just astounds me that someone thought this was a good
idea. Again, because I teach, I admit that I am most likely unable to
view this situation w/o bias, but I have seen teachers who change
children's lives, who give them support and respect they may not get
from any other source, who love to teach and are certainly not there for
financial reward. I remember how much I respected and looked up to the
majority of my teachers-- I am still young myself! I am not saying there
are not teachers who harm students, because unfortunately that does
happen. Maybe Guza is trying to show that no one can be trusted not to
harm you, that you have to watch out for everyone? Especially because
Liz and Lucky are young, and therefore are more likely to attract a
younger audience, I wonder about the wisdom of this choice. It just
seems unfair to paint this picture when there are so many people trying
to help children of all ages. Again, just my feelings right now-- does
anyone else have any feeling on this now that it is a little more than
speculation that he may be the one? Am I the only one who feels this
way? Sorry for my inarticulateness, (not enough sleep today) but
hopefully I didn't offend anyone...

No, you're not. We had this discussion a couple weeks
back, and a few of us felt the same way. I, in particular,
am disappointed--making the teacher a sexual predator is a
cheap way to play on parental fears. I tend to expect
better of Guza (silly me).
My only consolation is that perhaps Liz will get some
closure on this story.
In another, unrelated, reflection.... Brad Maule did a
wonderful job with that triumphant, annoying smile in the
courtroom on Friday/Monday. He looked so smug and
frightening that I wanted to smack him. Kudos to both BM
and Sarah Brown for their performances.

Not quite the same thing, though. No matter what happened between Luke and
Laura, he didn't drag a 15 year old off a park bench, beat the tar out of
her and rape her in the bushes.
Not that what he did was really any "better" -- but it's still very different.
Besides, more than a few people (especially TPTB) whished they could go
back and undo Luke raping Laura.
I just think it's a really crappy way to take this storyline. Ever since
people started recognizing and defining rape to include acquaintance/date
rape, soaps have REALLY gotten hung up on that. And yes, that is the kind
that happens most often, but this storyline from the outset was set up to
be different than that.
And I feel very cheated at them going back and re-wriitng history now.
I thought the story was MUCH more solid and powerful and brave and
impressive when the chances of Liz ever actually finding her attacker were
non-existant. Having to get on with her life and accept the fact that she
would never know who it was, or why he did it, much less ever see him
punished for it, made the story MUCH more powerful, IMO.
This feels like a huge cop-out.

Well, I agree with the Mac and Felicia part, but I'm not so sure about mac
and V.
I know that I actually almost LIKE Jax when he's with V, and I certainly
did enjoy V's dinner with Ned. I wish they'd let her move around the
canvas a bit and see who she clicks with.
It took TPTB a long time, and that hokey dream sequence of Brenda in the
bathtub, before they managed to realize the potential of the Sonny/Brenda
pairing. Maybe they should mix things up a bit and let them play out.
V rocks, though, and as long as she gets to do SOMETHING I almost don't
care who they pair her with... for now, anyway.

Subject: GH/PC: Guza on NW Afternoon
Date: 29 Apr 1998 19:01:25 -0700 (PDT)
Hi all...
Guza did a call in interview with Cindi Rinehart of NW Afternoon
today. Most of what he said wasn't terribly exciting, but he did
imply something rather odd. When Cindi said something about how the
possibilities are limited with Sonny only being back for a few
episodes, Guza interupted her with "Well, you never know......" She
said, "What do you mean - is he coming back for good?" and he said,
"Anything is possible, don't count anything out."
Now, personally, I found this to be rather annoying, as Maurice
Bernard has said in no uncertain terms that he is not interested in
coming back for real. Sure money talks and he could change his mind,
but this sure felt like a tease to make us hope and tune in during
sweeps. What's everyone else think??
Also, anyone see Luke, Lucky and Scotty on The View this morning???
If you blinked, you might have missed it!! LOL!! They didn't appear
to have any reason to be on, other than to be adorable, but it was
kinda nice to see them anyway. Is it just me or is Tony Geary getting
more adorable each year??? He's not conventionally handsome, but it's
like his personality and sense of humor make him very attractive and
even sexy. Dunno...maybe I'm just weird! :)
And as for V -- how 'bout Ned??? That scene the other day when she
saw right through him was a kick and it looks like he won't be doing
the horizontal limbo with Alexis again any time soon.....might be fun!
Last comment -- Murty. I agree that it's a cheap shot and it was a
more powerful story when we didn't know who the assailant was, but at
least they're showing a pattern of abuse instead of making it look
like this good teacher *suddenly* freaked out and started attacking
students. Then again, I suppose the idea of a teacher with a record
of abuse isn't a whole lot better.....never mind, it's a story without
any up side whatsoever!!! LOL!
That's all my inane ramblings for today....

As I said the last time this discussion came up, I saw them hinting around Mr.
Murty from day 1. The first time Lizzie left the house after the rape and
was in Kelly's he ws looking at her in a way that made her uncomfortable. She
even mentioned it to Lucky, and discounted it as just being nervous about
everyone. There were a few more scenes that made me believe he was the most
likely suspect as well but I can't remember them now.
So whether or not people agree that the teacher should or should not be the
rapist, I'm nearly positive that this is the way they meant it to play out
from the beginning. I think the rewrite would be to take the teacher off the
hook.
You're probably right that not ever finding out would have made the story more
powerful though.
I also think it is only slightly different what Luke did and what this rapist
did. The main difference being that Laura knew all along that Luke raped her,
and Lizzie didn't know at first(or maybe still hasn't totally figured it out
-- I'm a little behind).
JMHO,

Thank you for putting into words what I was thinking-- and I have a
question about the liz/lucky relationship before the attack: I watched
rather sporadically the last year or so, maybe once a month, (I know,
what was I thinking? Luckily, I have seen the light) and it seemed that
Liz liked Lucky but he was not interested in her? Until she was
attacked that is. If this is the case (and PLEASE correct me and give me
background if it is not!), then this has been lurkingly bothering me-
that Lucky would not be with Liz unless she was attacked- sort of
reinforcing the idea of female neediness (which I think is justified--
in this scenario she DID need somebody) but I guess I would have liked
it better if Lucky had been interested in her BEFORE this happened, and
was there for her when she needed him. Does this make any sense? In
fact, around this time was when I began watching regularly, and I
thought that Liz made up the story to get Lucky to notice her, to get
his sympathy. Although I can now see this is NOT the case, I am still
kind of bothered by this negative reinforcement, if you will. But, as I
said, I do NOT know the whole back story to this, so if someone could
let me know if I am way off base here, I would appreciate it. :)

Yeah, at 1st he was ga-ga over Sarah (gag me), but in some scenes,
especially the one where Liz took Lucky w/her to "save" Sarah from
Nikolas at the Cassadines Summer house, I think that was really the 1st
time he seemed to really care about Liz. I think Lucky became friends
w/Liz 1st, cuz he was just lusting after Sarah (WHY????). This is
becoming such a great story, but like everybody else, the thought of Mr.
Murty being the rapist bothers me a bit. But, I think there would be no
closure, ever for Liz if she never found out who the rapist is. I think
Laura will play heavily in her "recovery" on this!

It must be so nice to live in Robin's world. "Promise me"
this, "promise me" that.
Robin is, admittedly, a wonderful, admirable, and all
around neat person, but her visit with Tony today
epitomized for me why lately she irritates the heck out of
me. Not only did she think that asking Tony to promise
that he wouldn't kidnap Michael again was going to stick,
but she truly believed that Tony would just see the light.
She admitted repeatedly to Felicia that she thought Tony
needed help--was getting shot going to do the trick?
It must be nice to be Robin.

Thank you for clarifying this for me-- I appreciate the back history.
My roommate and I were watching Sarah chew out Robin for "stealing" her
boyfriend and we wondered how stupid the actress who plays Sarah must
have felt doing that scene! I don't quite understand the attraction
either... And Laura playing heavily in the recovery of Liz? (already
deleted original- that is a quote from Danielle) Very interesting, and
something I had not thought of! The woman Lucky is having a problem
with as far as not having told him the whole story, being the one able
to help the girl he is trying so hard to help- what interesting
dynamic! Thanks Danielle!
