good news--i didn't cry ONCE during gh yesterday! (that's a first in well
over a week!) in fact, i actually LAUGHED! (although i don't think many
of the laughs were supposed to be intentional...)
for example--i HAD to laugh at edward and alan. yes, i can understand how
the attitude behind their actions is UNBEARABLE--especially if i were
brenda!--but i COULDN'T resist laughing. especially when edward showed up
in his tennis outfit! and everytime he said the name of that yoga guy...it
was just too funny! but beyond those scenes--i don't think i was SUPPOSED
to find the rest of it so funny. but i DID...
like jax telling v a book wouldn't be a good distraction for brenda,
because it required too much concentration--she needed something simpler.
i found that line HILARIOUS! and that idiotic man playing in the dirt down
in texas? come on--i guess we're supposed to assume this doll has some
sort of value to him, right? so...he hadn't even MARKED where he buried
it! he just expected to randomly dig in the dirt and find it??? puh-
leeze. he'd be more likely to bury it permanently with THAT method...
come to think of it--i guess i really SHOULDN'T find all that funny,
becuase it's just further evidence that things are still pretty pathetic on
the gh front. (and likely to get worse still before they get better.) but
at least i wasn't SOBBING by the time it was over! i'll consider that
progress...
and while we're (sort of) on the subject...i totally agree (again), taiyin.
could jax BE more pathetic??? i can understand wanting to help a
friend...but he just has WIMP written all over himself at this point. in
those previews? what right has he to go to JASON regarding brenda at this
point??? let her fight her own battles for a change! this rushing-to-the-
rescue-of-the-damsel-in-distress routine only makes HIM look like an idiot.
(which is a shame, becuase once upon a time--back when he first came on the
scene and was after lois--i really LIKED him as a character. he had LIFE
then. of course, so did brenda...)
also, on a related subject--lois is back for three days, right? if that
millisecond of an appearance yesterday counts as one of the three...that's
just SAD!

Julie, you are so right! If yesterday counted as one of her comeback days, I
feel totally taken. It was so perfect that Lila set this all up and that
Emily was there for it. And I have to admit that I was laughing yesterday
too and I wouldn't mind doing it more often. I think that there used to be
much more in the way of comedic moments when K&L were around and with Luke
still away, I feel deprived.

that SUCKS. however...as soon as emily put brooke in alexis's lap
yesterday, i thought to myself..."a-HA! isn't THAT interesting...have lois
come back for brooke and find her in the arms of ned's latest flame.
hmmmm...i WONDER...maybe she WILL come back for good!" hey, a girl can
hope, can't she??? :)
i was really reminded yesterday--even though her scenes weren't all that
great (in my opinion)--how much her presence adds to the show. she just
SPARKLES, no matter WHAT she's doing--comedy, tragedy, rage...her EYES are
just so into whatever it is she's expressing at the moment. it's a level
of intensity that not everybody has on such a consistent basis. rena,
PLEASE COME BACK!!!
as an aside--i wonder if jax's comment "robin's here?" after edward said he
had brought brenda's best friend to visit means we can expect an appearance
by her soon too. i know she's coming--i just don't know WHEN. anybody?
by the way, did emily/amber GROW while she was away??? i knew she was at
least somewhat tall, since she TOWERS over robin. it's not hard to tower
over her though, and now she seems tall with EVERYBODY. maybe the wardrobe
dept. just discovered the wonderful world of platform heels.
and i'll try to refrain from comment on the preview scenes from the end of
yesterday's show. i'm POSITIVE that look as brenda answered the door, and
those lines between brenda and jax (roughly...b: "you're not staying?" j:
"i hadn't planned on it." b: "why not?") HAVE to be completely out of
context, designed to get me furious (or curious) enough to tune in. so

i just have to say this...
did anybody ever, in ALL their years of schooling, have a teacher who would
be dumb enough to make up a folder labeled "english test answers," or
whatever that folder said??? or who would bother to lock up those answers,
and then leave the key RIGHT THERE? or who would consider a dropped pen
evidence worthy of an accusation of theft? or who, even if they DID come
to this wildly ridiculous conclusion, would accuse the suspected party in
front of the entire class???
and while we're on the subject...when was the last time you had a test with
that sort of answer sheet for a normal old class? the SAT, or other

That was my first comment, too. If they got an advanced copy of the

then you know what to study, but what does he have on that answer sheet?

Well, I didn't think her scenes were sensational, either. But at least she
wasn't a pod person. I liked the fact that she didn't just summarily
dismiss Sonny's feelings for Brenda (which was, IMO, the most asinine thing
about the way Sonny left). She KNOWS that Sonny loved Brenda. She just
also knows that Sonny is one screwed up Cubano.

Not a peep. Soon, I'd imagine. I know she wanted a vacation, though, so
she might take a few weeks off still. I hope Wendy doesn't wait too long
to put her back in the credits. She could replace a Webber Twit or two
with Robin.

I didn't notice. And, since Kimberly is barely 5 feet tall, it doesn't
take much to tower over her. <g>
I only actually started noticing how tall she really is just before she
left, so I'm not sure if she's gorwn any taller since then or not.
>and i'll try to refrain from comment on the preview scenes from the end of

Bleah.
I must say, though, aside from a HIGHLY strange editing job (we didn't even
pick back up with Monica and AJ until almost half way into yesterday's
episode, what was that about?), I did like Monica's parting shot at Carly,
though. I was, however, very disappointed that AJ succeeded in calling
Monica off. Then again, I suppose it's safe to assume that neither Monica
nor Keesha are going to stay quiet for very long... and they'll both take
pains to make Carly's life miserable. <vbg>
I do hope this storyline comes to a head during November Sweeps. I don't
know how much longer I can stand them.
OH!! AND I actually finally LIKE Kathrine and Stefan!! Woo hoo! Let them
be enemies, pleasepleasepleaseplease!!! That was the most chemistry
they've demonstrated since this whole ludicrous plot line started. Let
Kath go back to being a bitch and let Stefan go back to being control
freakish and maniacal. Just no more slobbering all over each other,

Poor Karen.
I don't know what's sadder: that her hubby decides to be a weasel and dump
her for his partner; that Ramsey is a pathetic, oportunistic rodent; or
that sweet Joe 'Hothead' Scanlon gets to have ALL the fun by decking the
maggot.
Party pooper.
That was FABULOUSLY satisfying, though. That little pissant has been
asking for it for a LONG time. Too bad Eve wasn't there to enjoy the floor
show. And Frank is going to be jealous that his baby bro got to have all
the fun, too. (Kinda like Lucy loving it when Lois belted Kathrine, but
still being jealous that she didn't get to do it herself.)
If Julie comes down on Chris's side, I'm going to be ticked, though.
Joe was right, however, because of the investigation into Karen's procedure
with Kevin, she had to keep her hands clean and couldn't belt the rat
herself. Too bad. It woulda been even more gratifying.
And, does anyone else think that maybe, if Joe is going to be such a
combustable hothead, that maybe he should borrow Kevin and Lucy's boxing
gloves? He's going to have a short-lived career as a surgeon if he keeps
insisting on decking all the idiots of the world.
Oh well, I always thought Joe would make a better pediatrician, anyway.

oh i TOTALLY agree. i was really glad she was there, and saying the things
she was saying...i just don't think we were getting vintage lois!
but i'm definitely with you in my relief that SOMEBODY finally admitted
that sonny and brenda both had/have REAL feelings for each other. because
the rest of these characters sure aren't. somebody said SOMETHING
yesterday--and now i can't for the life of me remember who it was (edward?
jax? somebody else?) or what they said--but it was one of those statements
completely dismissing sonny and his feelings for brenda and her feelings
for him, and that's just REALLY been pissing me off, constantly, since
sonny's departure.
you know, in addition to wishing we would see a confrontation between
brenda and jason--i've decided i'm REALLY looking forward to ROBIN'S
return, and HER first scene with jason. i hope she really lets him have it
for his role in all of this. after all, not only did sonny leave brenda at
the altar, but he also left robin for good too. ALSO without saying good-
bye. somebody should have to answer for that--and since SONNY'S not

well...i definitely like them better in villain mode than lovey dovey mode.
but i still wouldn't say i LIKE them yet! they're both still TOO close to

Damn, they're good together. If they weren't blood relations, they have
enough chemistry for a relationship. Luke loses 15 years and becomes Scary

One last question: what do we know about Alexis' parents? Is she related

Scary Luke is right (though I'm not sure I would say it's just in relation
to Carly -- he's been doing it since he came back). <shudder> His "Maybe
he finally came to his senses" comment about Sonny leaving Brenda at the
alter made my skin crawl. And his near panic at Bobbie's comment about
Lucky reminding her of Luke (when Luke thought she was referring to Lucky's
interest in girls) was fabulous. And then yesterday, yup, his scenes with
Carly rocked.
Though I do agree with Julie, he made a rather phenomenal leap of logic there.

Not as far as I know. But, then again, that doesn't mean much. :-)
Oh, and while we're on the topic of Spencers: What was with Bobbie's

Pfft! She had a hysterectomy YEARS before she and Tony ever got married.
What were they trying to do, set some sort of medical precedent? Geez.

I hate when TPTB take a character that I originally like and then turn them
into dummies.
Her "That doesn't sound like Chris" comment when Joe told her and Frank
about Chris stealing Karen's letter from Jagger and using it against her
irritated me. And then the look she gave Frank when he said, "That sounds
*exactly* liuke Chris" was worse.
And now she is going to believe Chris and his lame explaination, too!!
Ugh. Yuck. Like Karen folding the letter into her jacket and stuffing it
under the counter can explain how Chris ended up finding the letter on the
floor, stood there and read it, while her jacket never moved from its spot
ont he shelf? Please.
And her spineless Daddy's Girl routine is getting more and more unbearable.
And the more it goes on, the more I am liking Eve -- I do wish she had
done a bit more than just throw champagne in his face, though.
I agree with Julie: thank goodness Eve went to tell Frank the truth about
his job offer.
The only trouble is that Ben's adoring little girl won't buy it. Blech.
I wish the truth about Eve and Ben would just come out so we could get rid
of that sickeningly smug look off Devlin's face. Chris's, too.
Either that or let Karen (and/or Eve) take Scott up on his offer to take
Ben down a peg or two. Wouldn't I just LOVE to see that one. <sigh>

god yes...scary is right! i've been wondering exactly what's gotten into
him lately. first, that new look of his. i know luke has never been a
traditional type of adult...but who's he trying to be here? jason? i
really don't think he can pull that look off.
i did like the panic he expressed at the thought of lucky being just like
him when it comes to girls. made me immediately think of the luke/laura
rape thing--and, with that in mind, it's GOOD he showed panic then. (was
that deliberate, i wonder? are we actually going to respect a character's
history for a change???) incidentally, i've been meaning to ask...i wasn't
watching back then (early luke and laura). all i've heard is something
along the lines of "luke raped laura on the dance floor. she decided she
loved him. they got married." any history buffs care to fill in the rest?
(i KNOW it couldn't be as simplistic--and ludicrous--as it sounds!) WAS it
an honest-to-goodness rape, and if so, how on earth did laura go from that,
to deciding she loved luke?
but back to luke--it was his comment about s&b that REALLY pissed me off.
i usually like luke, and his flip little comments. and i suppose it's
largely due to the fact that i'm still a tad emotionally raw over the whole
s&b debacle. but if i had been bobbie (well, no--not if i had been bobbie.
but if i had been ME, sitting where bobbie was sitting...) i would have
torn him APART after that one.
as an aside--i think maybe i'm mellowing. or at least becoming a bit more
objective. because yesterday, after brenda ran out of the outback, i was
really GLAD jax was there for her. i've been resisting this whole brenda
and jax thing all along--and don't get me wrong, i still am!--but yesterday
i saw him being with her as a friend, rather than as someone looking to
rescue her from her troubles, sweep her off her feet, and get back together
with her. i don't know if that's the way he's been playing it all along
(since sonny left), and i was just too pissed off to see it, or if
yesterday really WAS different (more low-key somehow). And i'm sure i'll
go back to being pissed again when he convinces her to move in with him.
but yesterday was nice. i LIKE not hating characters the second they
appear on the screen!
>And then yesterday, yup, his scenes with
>Carly rocked.
well, except her. if i ever find myself liking HER...that will mean i have
progressed from mellow to insane.
by the way--did i hear right yesterday? did lorraine actually call her
"snarly"? LOL!

oh god NO. to be honest--i've seen the promo twice, and never even NOTICED
the sketches?!? i'll have to look if it's on again today. but i am really
so tired of soap operas relying so heavily on trials to supply drama. most
people can live their entire LIVES without seeing the inside of a
courtroom--surely drama can come from other sources too?

I totally agree, the only time I don't fast forward, is when her scenes are
with Luke. He sure can get to her real easy, he doesn't even have to try
very hard.
I hope that it will all come out pretty soon! Tony, Bobbie and AJ need to
find out about Carly.
How does Jason look to you guys? To me, it's like he is finally beginning
to have some feelings about something. Like things are actually beginning
to bother him. It showed on his face how upset he was when Brenda was
having a cow! IMO, they need to let some of the old Jason back!!

Regarding Luke's leap of AJ logic: I just figured that if Carly <had>
acted innocent about AJ, Luke would have dropped the subject immediately.
He's a man on a fishin' expedition, and Carly's reaction told him there's
one heck of a big bass in that particular pond. <G>

Again, this will probably bounce.
The Luke/Laura "was it rape" debate was hot and heavy on ratsa a while
ago. I was watching it back then, and though I don't remember clearly a
lot of things that happened after the rape and before they fell in love, I
remember clearly understanding that it was <rape.> Whether or not Laura
was attracted to Luke-- and I think she was, though she was married to
Snotty at the time-- it was quite clearly not consensual sex. If I
remember right, she said "no" very distinctly.
They've had to fudge things over the years to make it plausible. Laura
went to counselling (did Snotty go with her? Can't remember), I know.
But I honestly don't remember how Laura fell in love with Luke. I bought
it, though. <G> Of course, I was VERY young (very very very young,
really I was...) so I wasn't hard to convince-- which is why it's funny
that, after all these years, I know it was rape.
One of the things that came out of the rape and Laura leaving Scotty is
that Scotty went from Scotty to SNotty. He used to be such a sweetie-pie,
probably too much so. Not after that! Which is another reason they need
Snotty on GH once in a while-- the dynamics there are amazing.
Ooooh.... (I should stop thinking) I wonder how the chemistry between
Stefan and Scotty would be. Between Laura and Katherine, they've-- um--
shared quite a bit. ;)

Well, I wasn't watching clear back then. But there is a page of the

Yes, it was an honest-to-goodness rape. After the fact, when they started
putting L&L together, they tried some revisionist history by relabeling it
a 'seduction.' But to this day Genie has been ADIMANT that she *played* it
as a rape.

i screwed up somehow and didn't tape gh yesterday. anybody care to provide
a recap? (PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE???) when we last saw our fair heros and
heroines...(or at least when *I* last saw them, on friday):
bathrobe-clad brenda had dashed out of jax's ph after wedding flashbacks
luke had avised kat not to get mad, to get even
carly and aj, in the most ridiculous and predictable plot manipulation
possible, had been locked in a closet together (did anybody else think of
bobby and greg in "the brady bunch"?)
keesha had been waiting for aj at the outback, and was upset he didn't show
texas boy had walked in to see maxie with her stupid doll
lorraine (oh happy day!!!) had called tony and urged him to get a clue
(can't think of anything else from friday. did i miss anything?) anyway,

hey...where'd everybody go???
just thought i'd say hi and see if anybody was out there. things have been
so quiet i'm beginning to wonder if my email is still working...
also, i've been wondering...does it bother anybody else the way pc persists
in using flashback after flashback OF THE PREVIOUS DAY'S EPISODE??? i
mean, my memory is as bad as anybody's--but i can USUALLY remember things
day-to-day well enough without having to be reminded all the time! it just
strikes me as kind of odd. i have nothing against flashbacks in general
(except the one of katherine's shooting on gh--i've seen that one WAY too
many times for my taste), but they don't serve ANY purpose (imho) if
they're used the very next day after the original scene aired. it's a
colossal waste of time (and on a half-hour soap, no less!)
in addition, out of curiosity--regarding scotty's predicament. the man (to
the best of MY knowledge) has no history of drug use, and none of his
friends or family have seen anything (other than these two episodes) that
would lead them to suspect he's on drugs. not only that, he comes from a
respected family in the town, and just about everybody knows him. (no, i'm
not saying people from respected families don't use drugs. just that i
think this fact would be enough for some people in pc to give him
the benefit of the doubt...) so wouldn't you think--especially when
rex/danielle appears and sues for custody as a result of this little
incident--that SOMEBODY would figure out this just REEKS of a setup? i
mean, i know the cops is gh are beyond stupid...but this just doesn't make
much sense to me.
hmmmm. guess i just don't think like a soap writer! :)

It's working. I'm getting bounce messages in the admin box, but not from

Yes, it does. It is SUCH waste of air time! Especially since most of the
ones they do aren't especially crucial.
If they insist on doing flashbacks let's get some of the REALLY important
stuff like Kevin and Lucy's love scene or something. <vbg>
Seriously, though, I agree. It's a bit much. Especially for a half hour
show.

No, it doesn't. Then again, logic has never been their forte, has it? ;-)
>hmmmm. guess i just don't think like a soap writer! :)
You should probably be grateful for that fact. <g>
And, as long as I'm here, I wanted to comment on yesterday.
PC: I had a great big "Duh!" moment with Scott again. He just has that
affect on me, I think. He doesn't want anyone to see him in his condition,
so he scares the hell out of Lucy by disappearing and then gets in her car
and DRIVES!!
I did get a chuckle out of seeing Officer Rick being the one to pull him
over, though.
And Kevin's comment, "It never stops!" had me ROTFL. He is SO right.
I did like the confrontation between the interns and Chris, though. I
loved the way that both Ellen and Matt gave Chris the "how can you blame
everyone for believeing the worst about you?" speech in the past few days,
too.
And Jake and Danielle...<sigh> oh brother. I've wondered repeatedly if Rex
had the apartment bugged -- it would make a lot more sense than NOT having
it bugged. And now I suspect they will just fall into his hands by
speaking freely with that bug there again.
And I guess that just leaves Frank and Julie. Let me just say that at
first I was annoyed when it looked like Frank was not going to tell Julie
the truth, but in the end the way he handled it was BEAUTIFUL! The way he
handled it made it IMPOSSIBLE for Devlin to accuse Frank of trying to drive
a wedge between him and his daughter, even though Frank would probably like
nothing more.
And, I must say, for as much as I can't stand Devlin (in a love-to-hate
type way, as opposed to the way I can't stand Rex, which is in a
major-yawn-wake-me-up-when-he's-done-blathering type way), I was really
impressed with the scene yesterday with Julie about Buddy. As suprised as
I was to realize it, I found myself believing him. And, once the scene was
over I could still believe him, because it's really easy to see how his
feelings about failing Buddy would lead to his being a jackass when it
comes to meddlign in his daughter's life.
Not that I like him, but I think I needed a moment like that to keep from
always seeing him as a jerk. Though he has had a couple really cool
moments with Eve.
Now, GH:
I LOVEDLOVEDLOVEDLOVED the fact that Brenda was looking at and listening to
Mary Mae's CD at the beginning of the ep. That was GREAT.
I also loved the scenes between Luke and Jason, though Luke is still being
more of a jerk than I especially like.
Per usual I fast-forwarded through Carly and Tony. I did watch Snarly and
Lorraine, though. Woo hoo! I *do* love that name for her, though. I wish
it would catch on. I am kinda miffed that Lorraine is such a parasite,
though, because I love the actress and I'd love to see her stick around a
bit. I did enjoy their mutual threat session, too. Finally, someone who's
got Snarly's number and isn't above sticking it to her. <g>
Hmmm... what else was there? Oh, Alan being a jerk with AJ, as usual.
<sigh> Bleah. He did have a good quote in there, though. I do actually
like, so far anyway, the scenes with V and Brenda. I didn't FF through
much of Bren and Jax, for once. The stuff when she was tlaking about Julia
and her father, I did like a lot. And Jax's phone call at the end to (I
suspect) Julia was interesting. So *he* is going to be the reason she
comes back to town?
Does anyone know when Crystal Carson is returning and for how long? I
suppose I can ask her this weekend at Take A Chance With The Stars, if I
have to. I know I saw it in a mag, but now I can't find it.
Anyway, that was my daily allotment of blathering. Back to homework.

PERMANENTLY. i do wonder, however, why exactly it is that greg cooper
seems to have it in for him. or does he maybe have it in for ALL the
interns? is that why he did what he did to kevin maybe? take care of
karen first, then chris, then work his way through the rest of them? or

i TOTALLY agree! i was really pissed when he just said he wasn't going to
take the job, with no real explanation. but then when he stuck it to
devlin, while being so POLITE the whole time?!? it was great...
and i was happy to see julie go after him for it too. (at least
initially.) i was afraid she'd NEVER have the guts to stand up to her
father. her anger didn't last long enough for my taste though... i can
see how we SHOULD believe devlin about the whole buddy situation--but i
just don't. i don't doubt the sincerity of his feelings, but i VERY much
doubt his motives for bringing them up in his conversation with julie. it
was too effective in defusing her anger, as i'm sure he knew it would be,
and it just seemed like more manipulation to me. but that could just be
because i don't like him! <g>
>I also loved the scenes between Luke and Jason, though Luke is still being
>more of a jerk than I especially like.
i agree. i don't know quite what's gotten into him. (except, when he
asked jason when sonny would be coming back. at that moment, he looked
like such a forlorn little boy whose best friend has moved away.)
incidentally, i finally made my way to the L&L rape transcript page. you
were definitely right--no matter WHAT the revisionist writers twisted it
into, that was DEFINITELY a full-fledged rape. just makes me wonder all
the more how luke went from that to half of the most famous supercouple in
soapdom...
>Per usual I fast-forwarded through Carly and Tony.
you didn't miss much. this whole thing is just getting SOOOOOO tired.
PLEASE can we just get to the good stuff already????
y'know, if any of these characters actually TALKED to each other, this
would have been figured out LONG ago! but i AM hopeful, now that bobbie
has the real due date, that she will let it slip to aj and we can get this
show on the road.
>And Jax's phone call at the end to (I

>comes back to town?
yup. from what i read, he brings her back to surprise brenda, but brenda
doesn't take it as well as jax had expected. (why he brings her back, i'm
not sure. seems to me brenda's made her feelings for her sister ABUNDANTLY
clear...)
>Does anyone know when Crystal Carson is returning and for how long?
i just read that somewhere, but i can't remember exactly. i THINK she
arrives on friday, and stays until nov. 4th? something like that. if i
find it again i'll let you know. you know, i never really cared much for
julia. but who knows, maybe i'll like her better this time around...
i AM liking jax (even though i find his loving gazes at brenda more than a

Today he does improve a bit, though. After Eve takes Scott's blood test to
Jake, she ends up telling Scott the name of her friend that is running the
tests. Scott freaks, but he does probably the smartest thing I've seen in
a while: he tells Eve why he doesn't want Jake to have his blood test.
I think it's a good choice for a few reasons: (a) if Eve is going to come
down on anybody's side in this situation, it's going to be Scott's; (b) she
can keep her eyes open for him; and (c) from a writing standpoint, it
widens the circle of people involved in this storyline, which helps smooth
out and increase interaction.

Well, by the end of today Joe is getting ready to deck him again. ;-)
And speaking of Matt and Ellen -- today, when Matt confronted Dr. Surgical
Jerk... WOW. He was fabulous. And his conversation with Ellen beforehand,
after he read that Borgman was recommending he be disqualified from
consideration for a surgical residency, was fabulous. I really like the
way they are always so starkly different in their knee-jerk reactions, but
they both still respect the way the other does things... even if they think
they're wrong.

At the beginning of yesterday when he was messing around with the lamp

Fabulous. But today they were awesome, too. Frank flat out told him that
he didn't buy his act. Of course Devlin feigned innocence, but the scene
was great. And it was even better after Julie showed up and they spent
lunch trying to out do each other -- the power struggle going on there was
great to watch. And, in the end, the only hand up Devlin could get on
Frank was to point out that he had food on his face. The whole thing was
fabulously symbolic.

Oh, no, of course, I agree with you in that his timing was manipulative and
designed soley for the purpose of getting him off the hook with her, but I
think what I liked about the exchange was that it provided a deeper, and
certainly less trite than your typical spoiled, rich Daddy's Girl routine,
level of explanation for why Devlin is so meddlesome in Julie's life.
IMO, it also demonstrates exactly why he isn't going to stop just because
he got caught this time.
>was too effective in defusing her anger, as i'm sure he knew it would be,

Bob Guza's stuff should start airing in about a week or two. Hopefully he
was speaking literally when he said that was oging to be one of the first
things he does.
And, if I'm not mistaken, Lynn's first scripts should be airing on PC on
Monday. I could be off by a week, but I don't think so.

Yeah, there was an article about that in the SOD, too. She'll be around
for a couple weeks, but not much longer. They fit Crystal Carson for
flats, BTW, so Julia can have a scene with AJ without it seeming too
discombobulating.
Evidentally Brenda slams the door in her face when she arrives.

So do I -- hope we're wrong *and* feel sorry for V. I really wish they
wouldn't do this Brenda/Jax thing. For godsake, Sonny hasn't even been
gone for a MONTH!!
And her inability to put any effort into straightening out her own life BY

nothing seemed to happen with that. <sigh>

well, he's ANOTHER one i'm just sick of. i've said it before, and i'll say
it again--i don't think this character has been anywhere NEAR developed
enough to all of a sudden be involved in so many different people's
stories. plus, in real life, don't you think there would be some sort of
investigation into the explosion, and some determination that it started in
cooper's room? and wouldn't that be a tad suspicious, since cooper was
supposed to be catatonic? and wouldn't people therefore check out the body
found in the room, and check dental records or something to figure out that
is ISN'T in fact cooper? for that matter, hasn't anybody noticed the
PRIEST is missing? between cooper and rex--things are just working out so
EASILY for them. maybe that's why i don't find them terribly convincing as
villains...
>At the beginning of yesterday when he was messing around with the lamp

thanks! completely missed that. (of course, i figured it out when he was
listening to their conversation yesterday. but i missed the actual
planting.)

sounds good to me! how about first scene, first episode? :) a week or
two, huh? well, i guess after THIS long i can hold out a little bit
longer. but not much!
>So do I -- hope we're wrong *and* feel sorry for V. I really wish they

i know the feeling. i've actually been WATCHING (as opposed to ff-ing) the
opening credits since he left with a sort of morbid fascination, constantly
expecting to find they've edited him out of the credits. (which,
thankfully, hasn't happened yet. somehow i think that will be a very sad
day...) i was, however, impressed with mike and jason's scenes yesterday
(even though i found it hard to reconcile the mike on pc with the mike on
gh. hmmmm...continuity problems? who'd of thunk?) i especially liked,
after mike left, how jason pushed the desk chair back in, kind of like he
was putting everything back to exactly how it had been when sonny left. a
minor detail, but it revealed more about jason and how he's dealing with
all of this than a year's worth of dialogue.
incidentally, as for v--there's a GREAT jax/v fanfic story (i forget who's
writing it) on the pc online fanfic board. it was originally called
"holiday treats," and has recently been changed (as soon as the holidays
were over in the story) to (i think) "new beginnings."

and in yesterday's preview scenes...when jax told her he arranged a
visitor, and she asked if it was SONNY?!? oh PLEASE...what on earth would
possess the girl to think jax would find SONNY for her??? i had to
laugh...

Amen to that. And Jake made such a good show of sticking it to Rex before,
and I actually started to like him. But now he's buckling almost as much
as Danielle.
>I was hopeful when jake told rex the tests were going

Me too. I was hoping that Jake would show a moment or two of spine. No
such luck.

No kidding. More than anything else, though, I am DYING to see the scenes
where Bobbie finds out that Luke knew all along -- especially after
yesterday, when they were discussing teaming up.

Well, they only change on Monday's. So, if Monday rolls around and he's
still in them then you're safe for another week. :-)
>i was, however, impressed with mike and jason's scenes yesterday
I agree. It was fabulous. I love those two together -- especially Jason's
comment that he doesn't think Sonny loved him like a son, because he can't
reconsile what he knows to be "fatherly love" with the kind of love that
Sonny showed him. That was really good. I was uncharacteristically
impressed.

Exactly. That was incredibly symbolic.

That was so stupid I *couldn't* laugh! PLEASE! Even if Jax knew where
Sonny was he wouldn't do anything but help him run farther -- for as
miserable as Brenda is now, Jax is 100% convinced that she is 100% better
off. He wouldn't raise a FINGER to help bring Sonny back. Brenda's got
rocks in her head.
Big shock.

Well, I think it's a testiment to how MONUMENTALLY STUPID this whole
teenage storyline is that the only decent scene Jonathon Jackson has had in
MONTHS was the on he had with Amber from Wednesday. The short little scene
where Emily started telling him about the cafe and when he automatically
asked "What was his name?" was ADORABLE.
And I loved the background with Deenie (sp?) telling Lizzie that if anyone
messes with Emily Lucky steps right in.
Suprisingly enough, despite her motives, I did like watching Lizzie swoop
in (though I would have prefered Em take care of herself, failing that,
Lucky rescuing her would have been highly sweet). Her little "golly gee"
routine with Lucky afterward was moronic, but I did like watching her tell
that snot where to go. The personality bit was cute.
And I LOVEDLOVEDLOVEDLOVED watching Kathrine, Luke and Stefan. I never in
a million years thought I'd hear myself say that. They were fabulous. I
LOVED the way she told Stefan that Luke using her and discarding her when
he was finished was no different than what he had done himself. And I LOVED
that she was starting to show shades of the old bitch who blackmailed Ned
into marraige and tried to hussle Scott. She was a FAR more interesting
character back then. And the potential for her to end up helping Luke do
battle with Stefan is delighting my black little heart. <vbg>
And, finally, Stefan and Alexis from Wednesday. Whoa! His, "I steer and
you row" comment would have had me saying, "Oh, you think so, eh pal? How
would you like to try rowing all by yourself, you pompus, controlling,
intrusive, SOB?!?!"
And then when he told her that he didn't approve of her relationship with
Ned? Ohohohohoh, I don't THINK so, buster! Does the phrase, "None of your
damn business" mean anything to you? Creep. I mean, please.
It is deliciously ironic, though. She did the same thing to Katherine and
Stefan that he is trying to do with her and Ned, only she called him on it
and he fessed up, whereas she got away with it (so far). She knows he
would expell her from the family if he ever found out what she did, but she
then ends up buckling when he tries to do the same thing to her.
I was extremely disappointed in Alexis, though. She started out SO well,
telling him to stay out of her personal life. But she backed down WAY too
much for my taste. And his comment about how he would prefer she not have
anything to do with Ned when he returns... he was asking for it then.
Jeez. It really irritates me that she didn't tell him to, er, pardon the
phrase, blow it out his ear.
I really can't wait until Guza gives us that split in the house of
Cassidine between Alexis and Stefan. At least then she will stop giving in
to him.
OK, work beckons...

Adrian posted to ratsa that Joan Collins will be playing Helena Cassadine.
Also that an "expensive young heroine" whose "I'm leaving/I'm staying" act
earlier this year drove TPTB nuts will be written out (could this be
Brenda?). And, lastly, that the Heinous Webber Twins (that's not the
terminology Adrian used) are going to be put on recurring status and taken

OK, so, in general, I don't like blond guys. I CERTAINLY don't lust after
them, but, I have to admit, Ingo is a babe. Ingo is still a blond, but
he's a blonde BABE. Got pix with both of them and am hoping like hell they
turn out.
Played craps with Julie Pinson (Eve, PC). Actually, we both learned
together, she was "running" the table but didn't know how to play. Suze
went to take a picture of us together and at that exact moment a
photographer from the soap press (who were EVERYWHERE) ran up and got a
shot too. Yikes. The thought of anyone else having a full-length shot of
me standing next to that skinny, gorgeous little thing is enough to make me
break out in hives. Anyway, she was very cool. We talked about both of us
being Bay Area Brats and I told her how totally impressed I was with her
first scenes when Even and Devlin first faced-off in the Scanlon kitchen;
she was really sweet and grateful. And she permanently ingraciated herself
to me because she remembered my name everytime I ran into her for the rest
of the evening and when I went through the autograph line she autographed
my notebook with a line about playing craps with her.
Nolan North (Chris, PC) was totally in love with my name, he and Rib (Jake)
were having fun with it; highly amusing. Nick Branden (Xander, Buffy) is
tons more of a babe in RL(tm) than I ever imagined -- he has the most
EXTRAORDINARY eyes. And Alyson Hannigan (Willow, Buffy) was SO sweet.
Didn't get to see Kin, he wasn't there long and the autograph line was
BRUTAL. My friend, Suze, saw him, though. About half the GH/PC people
ended up leaving the table before I got up there, but the ones that I
really wanted to see were there. Saw Sharon Wyatt (Tiffany, GH). She
looks SENSATIONAL. She isn't a blond anymore, she's got redish, very light
brown hair and looks incredible.
Jonathon Jackson and his band (brother, father and uncle) performed early
in the evening. Somebody shoot me, please. I like OLDER men, usually
quite a bit older. But in this case... jeez. It was frightening. The
only consolation I can offer my horrified self is that he was decked out,
head to toe, in black leather. It must have shut down my brain. Jail
bait. Sheesh.
Didn't get to see Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna, Voyager). Correction, I saw
her, but I didn't get her autograph and didn't get a picture with her. She
was there when I got into the line, but gone by the time I got out of it.
Anthony Stweart Head (Giles, Buffy) sang two songs, "Every Breath You Take"
and something else. Suze was a saint and sat in the autograph line will I
sat on the floor at the foot of the stage five feet from him taking pics of
him for Cagey and Jill <g>. He was SCRUMPTIOUS. He had an earing. I had
a few highly lustful moments.
The Buffy fen, by and large, were obnoxious. They were REALLY irritating.
The soap fans were very cool, though. And Trek fans are Trek fans no
matter where you go -- so they were cool.
BUT the piece de resistance of the evening was the silent auction. I
had no intention of bidding on ANYTHING while I was there. But I
started cruising the tables and saw a few things that I wanted, so I
bid on quite a bit but I didn't counter-bid on most of them. But ONE
item I decided I *had* to have. So I kept bidding, and bidding and
bidding. I'm probably nuts, but it was worth it because I ended up with A
SET TOUR OF PORT CHARLES!!!!!! <happy dance>
I hope like hell that I can arrange it for after the new year, though,
because I am out of vacation days for this year. But, no matter what, I
*am* arranging it for a day when Jon and Lynn are shooting, damnit! I also
get lunch with Denise (Rhonda, PC) at the commisary.
Crystal Carson was a great hostess, and everythig moved really
smoothly.
And the food, GODS! Amazing. I've been to a LOT of charity events
(all potlicial, I admit) and NEVER has there been a food spread like
that. It was AWESOME. Too bad I was still too stuffed from my junk
food earlier to enjoy it. Suze says the egg rolls were good. :-)
The High Lonesome was fabulous (Jon doesn't really play with them anymore,
so he wasn't there). They played for about an hour -- easily twice as long
as ANYBODY else. And they rocked. They are still the only band that can
ALWAYS get me to dance.
Anyway, it was INCREDIBLE. This is DEFINITELY going to become an annual
event for me. But by the end of the evening my feet were killing me. Memo
to self: more comfortable shoes next year.
I think that's about it...

I don't mind Lizzie about half the time; she really CAN act when she isn't
being given STUPID story and dialogue. Sarah I can't watch, though. It
hurts too much.
Becky (Lizzie) was there on Saturday, BTW. She's really pretty and she was

Ingo (buzz is they are involved, which would make sense considering the SOU

I'd say about five years. I think she's about my age (22), and he's about
five years or so oplder than I am.
Either way, it's not really that much.
Besides, as someone who likes older men (leather clad 16 year olds aside),
I'd have to say that even if their age spread was bigger than that, I

Subject: GH/PC: Quick Homework Break
Date: 21 Oct 1997 12:53:56 -0700
Last night I watched Friday and Monday of both shows, so my distinction
between one day and the other is a tad blurred, but there were a few
comments I wanted to make.
First and foremost: Wow. That would easily apply to Luke & Alexis; Julia
& Brenda; Ben, Eve & Julie.
First of all, Luke and Alexis. I LOVED Luke's comment from Friday (I
think) where he told Alexis that Stefan NEVER surprises him, but that she
does. He pointed out that Alexis was the truest kind of Cassidine and that
it must get hard being Stefan's "foot soldier." Aside from the fact that I
think he's right (I think Alexis is easily ten times smarter than Stefan
is), I love the foreshadowing back to what Guza told Logan: that soon
there will be a major split between Stefan and Alexis and she will prove to
be the 'quintessential' Cassidine. I hope it's soon because, as Luke
pointed out, she's been playing Stefan's lackey recently and it's getting
tiresome. She's too smart for that.
Next, Julia and Brenda: That was the first time in MONTHS that Brenda has
been watchable. Too bad she didn't stand up to Sonny as well as she stood
up to her sister. But I guess sister's are easier to let have it. I have
always loved Julia and Brenda's fights, I'm not sure why. Yesterday,
though, was better than most. I *loved* the direct hit Brenda scored about
Julia being intentionally cruel versus being oblivious. And, while I can
understand how Julia wouldn't see it that way, I agree with Brenda that
there is a distinct cruelty to the fact that Julia chose to allow Jax to
coax her to town to see Brenda NOW. It's really hard enough to trust
someone during bad times, but it's unreasonable to expect Brenda to be able
to do it when she can't even trust her sister to be a sister in the GOOD
times.
Finally, Ben, Eve & Julie: Lynn didn't waste much time, did she? Wow.
Well, I think I'll have to wait until after I see today's confrontation
between the three of them before I have too much to say. I did like to see
Julie finally get ANGRY at someone, though, frankly, I think she seemed to
be laying a little bit too much blame on Eve about this. I mean, EVE is
the one who told her about how she ended up feeling in that relationship.
Julie heard how Eve ended up in financial ruins and she knows that Eve is
not a saint -- Eve never tried to justify sleeping with a married man.
Sure, Julie should be hurt. And I don't dismiss the fact that she should
be angry at Eve. But Eve is not the one who cheated on Julie's mother; Ben
did that. I do like that it shows Julie soething that she wouldn't have
seen otherwise: it's a hell of a lot easier to be a saint when it's OTHER
people's lives that are getting torpedoed, and not your own.
Other than that... I expect that any great Julie/Ben/Eve pay off is going
to be delayed because of Julie's impending confrontation with Cooper. And
I did like yesterday (or was it Friday) when the interns actually LISTENED
to Chris and ocnsidered that, just maybe, it wasn't Chris out to knock off
the competition, but that it might be someone else entirely who just has it
in for the interns.
And whoever it was that commented on a moronic lack of follow-through
investigating after the fire was right. Since the fire wasn't started by
faulty wiring or something like that, the next obvious assumption would
HAVE to be arson -- especially considering that it started in a patient's
room. And are they trying to convince us that the disappearence of a
priest would go unnoticed by his parish and his superiors? Hell, Mary
alone missed him the night of the fire. Who's been performing Mass on
Sundays?
I guess that tidbit probably got lost in the transition between writers...
Anyway, back to work...

I have a question regarding Brenda's father and his relationship to Julia.
I have to get my brain going on this one, but wasn't her father in the mob
(head of a mob family?) and, at the end, wasn't Julia working with him? I
never quite figured out how much she knew about him, but I always figured
that she felt that Bill Eckert killed him for no good reason, which wasn't
the case. I could be all wrong about this, but I wasn't on a BB at that
time and didn't do any taping back then. I remember not understand it way
back then, and now I am even more confused. Too bad Bill was killed...
Now is when I need him..... (Hey Luke! Can you channel up your cousin???)

yes, yes, yes! i admit, i wasn't expecting much out of this little visit

i've been pleasantly surprised by both julia AND brenda. EXCEPT...

i agree. and i had a REALLY big problem with yesterday's confrotation with
dear old dad. i'm glad julie didn't let him off the hook and all...but she
just came across as so STUPID (in my book) by not saying the VERY FIRST

Thanks.... I knew it was something not quite above board. I was under the
impression that Julia idolized her father and at the end I felt that she
HAD to know that he was not the perfect person that she had always imagined
him to be. I don't think that Bill ever set the record straight on either
his involvement with this or her father's involvement, even though it
ripped them apart.

ok, somebody is going to have to explain this whole carly plan to me,
because i'm REALLY not seeing the logic here.
so, for starters--she thinks she'll be able to keep the baby's birthday a
secret, just by being out of town when it's born? HELLO??? isn't that one
of the first things people ask? typical conversation: "carly had her
baby." "oh really? WHEN? was it a boy or a girl? etc." even if carly
managed to lie to a.j. or bobbie or whoever, proud papa tony would surely
broadcast the news to anyone who cared to listen. unless carly's planning
on lying to tony as well? which doesn't make much sense. since, first of
all, he's a doctor and SHOULD know better. and second, there IS the little
matter of the kid's birth certificate and hospital records. so i don't get
that at all.
and second, i didn't get tony's response to her wanting to go to florida.
weren't they, not terribly long ago, about to hop a plane for vegas? and
aren't they currently planning a trip in december? so...she could travel
last month, and two months from now...just not now? HUH?
i am really getting tired of having to suspend my disbelief every day as gh

I was thinking about this too. And then would people realize that hte

well...that's basically what i meant when i said that tony should be
smarter that to fall for that. he's a doctor, for god's sake...he should
EASILY be able to see the difference between a newborn and a 1-month-old

one who shouldn't be fooled by that. i mean, I'D be able to tell the

Hello. I'm back... barely.
There was something that I forgot to mention in my Take a Chance report:
Nancy Lee Grahan is a lot more pregnant than I originally thought. She
looked at LEAST four months pregnant when I saw her (she was one of the
actors I missed because the line was moving so slowly -- she was about the
only one that I REALLY regret missing). When she left the line she was
very obviously showing -- I would have realized she was pregnant even if I
hadn't already known.
I wonder how they are going to manage to hide it on the show...

hey all...my GOODNESS it's been quiet around here! hope everyone's alive
and well!
anyway, i have a question for the intrepid history buffs among us. i DID
used to watch back when julia barrett was originally on, but (since i
wasn't terribly interested in her) i didn't pay too much attention, and
hence her storylines have more-or-less disappeared from my memory. now, i
know she was involved with about half the town (aj, ned, bill eckert...)
but i can't remember ANYTHING about her, and her storylines, at all.
anybody care to give me a quick synopsis of julia barrett: the early years?
i'm just curious! thanks!
also, i just finished visiting tvguide online (logan's FINALLY back from
vacation...YEAH!!!), and while his chat and ask logan weren't terribly
illuminating (beyond the fact that guza's writing is scheduled to start
airing dec. 10th or thereabouts), i thought this letter was kind of funny,
so i'll shamelessly cut and paste it for your enjoyment...
Dear Logan,
Jeez! Are you working on a commission from General
Hospital? It seems like half your column is dedicated to that
one show, and the rest of the soap opera spectrum can have
what's left. What gives? Do that many more people write with
questions about GH? Do you get more information about that
program? Or is it your personal favorite these days?
-- RVP
Dear RVP,
GH is most certainly not my personal favorite these days,
though I fully expect that to turn around as soon as Mr. Bob
Guza fully gets his act together (which, my spies tell me
should be around Dec. 10 or so). The reason there are so
many GH letters posted here is that, scandal for scandal,
outrage for outrage, rumor for rumor, GH is a show beyond
compare as far as fan reaction is concerned. I am bombarded
with GH mail, way more than I get for any other show, and I
would bet that most soap publications would tell you the
same thing. I'll try to tone it down a tad, but I make no
promises.
so...way to go gh fans! ok, back to work now...

As soon as I have time, I will help try to fill in the blanks. However, I
have a hard time trying to figure out her relationship with her father and
would like help there. I think that she essentially worshipped her father
and was into quite a bit of denial at what he was doing. I remember him
being into the mob, or something, but can't remember the exact reason why
Bill Eckert had to kill him.
Julia is an interesting character, always a woman who was capable of just
about anything, a business genius of sorts. Yes, she has quite a history.
I was upset when they ended the Julia/Bill relationship without resolving
her understanding of what went on. Of course, there is much on GH that is
never resolved!!! I am glad that she is back and would love her to stay
around for some time. She definitely saved AJ from Ned many, many times!

Greetings -
I'm brand new to the list and this is my first posting. I've watched GH for
more years than I can remember. Let's see, I'm 26 now and I was watching before
Laura married Scotty Baldwin!
I was watching when Julia Barrett came to town but if I remember correctly,
there wasn't a big thing that brought her to town. She came because her father,
Harlan Barrett, was in Port Charles and owned a waterfront business that she was
going to help run. I do recall she fell in a vat of fish oil her first day.
Bill Eckert worked there too I think. Anyway, Daddy Barrett turned out to be a
criminal and Julia took over when he died. She might have been a suspect when
Bill's ex-wife Nancy was murdered.
Speaking of the Eckert's - where the heck is Sly?? Shouldn't he be in school
with Lucky? We know Jenny and Paul still live in Port Charles because of that
whole "Ned getting called to the hospital to find Jenny giving birth" thing.
Anyway - any big Brenda and Jax fans out there? I know I might be in the
minority, but I never got the whole Sonny thing. He never appealed to me. But
Jax - Oh baby! It's abvious to me that Brenda should be with him but she just
doen't realize it yet.
Anyway, I guess that's enough for a first note. I lokk forward to reading

Nonononono, see THAT would require that pesky continuity stuff. TPTB don't

Despite my aversion to blonds, I am getting to like Jax too much to want
him with Brenda. I loved Sonny, but by the end I hated them together. But
that was mostly because I haven't been able to stand Brenda for a while
now. I couldn't watch her ever since she let herself become such a doormat.
>Anyway, I guess that's enough for a first note. I lokk forward to reading

That would require everyone speaking up. :-)
We tend to go through ebs and flows. It'll be dead silent for a few days
