Subject: (police) West Palm Beach concert recap and question 9/3
Date: 05 Sep 2000 00:42:58 EDT
First of all does anyone have a set list? From this particular one or from a previous show, so that I might remember the show better.
Also, how in the hell do you get front row tix? What do I gotta do?
The bad first... Complaints:
- I was dissapointed that Cheb was not in attendance, I had thought he was at all the shows. I know that is a little extraneous, but I thought I heard that somewhere.
- The $3 cokes.
- The crowd was terrible. They couldn't sing along during the crowd response times, and even though I tried I couldn't carry it for the rest.
Highlights include:
- The woman dressed in nearly nothing in the front row Sting pulled up on stage for Desert Rose. I'm not sure if she was a real belly dancer, but she certainly did an impressive job. Plus it was the only time the whole crowd stood to watch. They wouldn't even stand to "STAND UP... all you lovers in the world!"
- He really drug out the explosion in Roxanne, I was nearly convinced it was to be a mellow version.
- Sting stopping to comment on the panties thrown on stage with an autograph request and an attached SASE for the return of them.
- The solo version of Message in a Bottle.
- The changing set decoration, especially Moon over Bourbon Street.
- Sting getting funky with some dance moves especially during the rap in Perfect Love... Gone Wrong.
- His impressive leap at the end of Roxanne, I think he was hindered by the leather pants during the Mecury Falling tour.
- The "opposite of falling" price of T-Shirts.
- The guitar special entrance by opener Jonny Lang when Dominic could have done MUCH better and really got little credit or recognition during the show. Which doesn't bother me terribly, but still, he is faithful and deserves credit for that even if he isn't Andy Summers.
- And not to brag, but my beautiful date, and the fact it was her birthday, and that she is now a huge Sting fan too, thanks to me.
Thats about it. The show was great, and I wish I had known earlier that I could have catered the Orlando show two days before because I happen to know some people that told me too late. Hope everyone else got a chance to see this show!
Perpetual lurker and undisputed greatest Sting fan ever,
Erik
P.S. Don't even bother to argue that greatest fan thing, you'll lose just by the sheer fact that I ignore any challenges to that title. ;)

I don't know if anyone else has seen this( or it may have even been mentioned)or not, but i was at the best buy store in Bloomington, IL, and they were already selling copies of the DVD. It wasn't a promotional thing either. They were mixed in with the regular musical DVD's. I was amazed to see it too because there were like 10 copies or something. I had already read in the morning best buy ad that the DVD wasn't going to be released until the 26th. I don't know if the people who run the store here were confused and are selling it early on accident, or if possibly a lot of stores are doing this. Has anyone else seen this?

The guy on the radio(97.1 Cities 97) said that Sheryl Crow played with sting tonight. What did she play with him? Was it on the radio broadcast, because i came in during Seven Days.

I just saw a blurb on MTV.com saying that a video was just shot for "After the Rain" in Monacco with Kevin Godley directing. I guess the push for the single in the States starts soon.
Ooooo...alliteration.

Hey gang...I've got one extra copy I would part with as a trade...not for sale as I paid nothing for it and I am not looking for anything very rare in exchange either...Just a cd-r of something I don't have already to make it worthwhile...Perhaps some BND concert boots.....

Hey gang...Just got back from the hamptons so I was unable to write anything about the CP concert...Not gonna redo all the same reviews again, but lemme say I was disappointed in the end....I thought for sure it was gonna be something special. I mean, the concert was great and all, but it was just like all the others I have seen so far on this tour...The only special things I noticed were:
Sting singing word Fishy differently going into solo during perfect love
"Here I come" bit during message
cbgb stuff during roxanne, but he did that last november at the beacon...(btw Fred...still have that pic of you, me and chris)
All in all, Sting seemed really into the whole thing...My girlfriend commented about this...I am fairly convinced that it was a big act to ham it up for the 40+ press and media cameras there, although he did seem to be having a great time...as for my two cents about the bootleg stuff....
Do Not pay mondey for a audio or video bootleg of the show....once the hype is over about the newness, this show will be just another two cd bootleg from the tour that can be easily traded for....the files are all available on napster... search for artist Sting and title as central park and you will get the whole show...for those that made it this far...I have my usual hi-fi stereo video of the entire concert....the audio is stereo and better than the radio broadcast from what I have listened to so far...the video is a single shot dead center on Sting the entire time...he goes off camera at times and I don't have the whole band at all...there is no movement of the camera...it's all in one place, but very clear....don't get too excited about the whole thing...it's just another concert...
-Josh
p.s.- because this was an authoried recording, i.e. you were actually allowed to bootleg it, I would do a trade here and there for anyone who wants....only for this show though, because I would never ever ever ever deal in bootlegs from an unauthorised recording....
