STING was said to be "shocked and distressed" on Saturday night (April 8) after ú6000 worth of hard drugs were found at a backstage party he threw for around forty celebrity friends.
Heroin and cocaine were among the drugs found at the aftershow party at London's Royal Albert Hall. Security staff found them early the next day, in an abandoned bag in the room where the party had been held. Sting did not attend the party himself but went home to prepare for the next gig on his sell-out world tour.
According to British tabloid newspaper the Sunday People, a source said: "The person who looked inside the bag was stunned to find nine bags of powder, a bar of cannabis and several bags of skunk, a mind-bending blend of cannabis. There were also a few spoons, some documents and credit cards."
Sting flew out to Frankfurt for the next leg of his tour on Saturday (April 8) and was unavailable for comment. The singer's publicist Andy Prevezer said: "Sting was shocked and distressed to hear about the discovery. It is a horrific revelation. Sting was not at the party. He left as soon as he came off stage."
Police say they may need to interview guests at the party and have already spoken to concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith, who has given them a full guest list for the tickets-only party.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The CID at Belgravia are investigating the discovery of a bag of what is believed to be drugs.
"It was found at the Royal Albert Hall in a backstage function room. We attended and seized the bag for forensic examination. Earlier that evening the room had been used to host an after-show party."
The drugs are being tested at police labs and are thought to be a mixture of amphetamines, cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
Two men were arrested on Friday (April 7) and taken to Belgravia police station for questioning before being released on bail to return on May 23.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet... but... Both CDNow.com and Amazon.com are listing a US Desert Rose single, to be released on April 25th. 'Bout damn time we saw a CD single!

I have recently made some files available for download. This time the theme is b-sides and covers. These can be found at:
http://grayareas.net/sting/files.htm
Check back frequently, as I will make different files available from time to time. For next time, I am planning a live recording theme.
I also welcome requests. If there is something you just haven't been able to get your hands on, let me know. If I have it, I will do my best to make it available at some point.
Enjoy,
James

This is strange to me....is this part of the summer tour? Someone else mentioned Pittsburgh (I think) and there are the 3 dates out west. I wish the tour dates would be announced all at once. I'm afraid I'll miss buying tickets for any concert here in Texas, like what happened for some of you with the Red Rocks date.

This is just an odd question for anyone: is there anyone out there that collects charting singles? I mean, only Number One singles, or Top 40 singles, or whatever. Is there anyone that follows the weekly charts and actually collects them? I do this, and I'm having a hard time convincing my girlfriend that there are more of me out there...somewhere...

All I know is that a lot of people in the audience, the television audience, and that crappy house band had no idea what a treat they were getting to hear that version of roxanne done with BM. They have not done that together in a long, damn time.
I'm still thinking about that and haven't given much thought to back street boys for that matter....

Did anyone else notice how much attention was payed to Sting throughout the whole evening?
* He started and ended the show
* He dueted with the BSB (probably one of the biggest draws for the general population)
* The camera continually found him in the audience.
No other performer got that much camera time.
It continues to amaze me just how popular Sting is, while the general opinion is that he's lost his edge. Maybe it's his Police popularity or maybe people are closet Sting fans. My roommate keeps telling me that Sting has sold out, but that he's still a bad-a** despite it. Maybe the two things aren't mutually exclusive.

I felt positive, too. There was something about the way Sting said, "I've never said we wouldn't get back together...." or whatever it was he said....but, of course, we can only speculate. This is something that has to strike Sting's fancy. I would love to see them perform, something I never got to do when they were together. However, at this point, it's a little hard for me to imagine them recording new material. Who knows? Enough years might have gone by to make this seem like a fresh idea to Sting.

Just seen another date listed on the stinchroncity website in Portland in July. Any idea why compaq have not got these dates up on their site or what happened to the sting store?
