Yahoo! (Ulp, sorry -- that was a general exclamation of happiness, not a
plug for the online service.) BRUSA just arrived.
I ordered it from Playback.Com (located, logically enough, at
http://www.playback.com). Someone here mentioned they got it at
Outpost.Com for $29.95. However, when I asked Outpost, they said they were
out of stock. Playback had it, and they matched the price.
Cheers, Andy

The delay was caused by changing over the distribution from GT to Interplay.

AM News: Interplay Sign The Empire
Interplay has struck an agreement with Empire Interactive to distribute
three titles through its North American retail channel.
March 31, 1999
Games under the agreement are Pro Pinball: Big Race USA, Apache Havoc, and
the Golf Pro bundle. "Interplay is pleased to have the opportunity to
distribute these superb Empire Interactive titles," enthused Phil Adam,
Vice President of Business Development. "We feel that our distribution
capabilities will assist these games in fulfilling their hit potential."
Mark Scriven, General Manager at Empire Interactive, added: "We believe
that Interplay has one of the most effective sales and marketing teams in
the business and has proven experience in delivering hit titles to the
trade. We are expecting great things from this relationship."
The three titles are expected to ship this Spring.

Subject: [PS] Play Pinball with the Predator
Fox Interactive announced it has shipped FOX ARCADE: Sci-Fi Pinball on
Windows 95/98, Power Macintosh and iMac CD-ROM for a suggested retail price
of $29.95. Developed by Gigawatt Studios, the game features five
distinctive pinball tables based on Fox's hottest sci-fi properties: Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, Aliens, Predator, and The Fly, plus a bonus vintage Fly
table.
"We've leveraged four of Fox's strong sci-fi brands and used them as a
vehicle for delivering a fun, inexpensive pinball game that you can play at
home, in your office or on the road," said Jon Richmond, president, Fox
Interactive.
FOX ARCADE: SCI-FI PINBALL features full motion video clips and sounds bytes
from characters featured in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Aliens, Predator and
The Fly movies. Players have the ability to extend ball play off the table
as they are challenged by tunnels, alien flame throwers and mini games on
the side of each table. The tables morph and, unlike other pinball games,
produce cool animations to generate pure excitement. Multiple balls played
on one table will also quickly double or squelch a high score.

Hi,
has anybody else noticed or experienced that when submitting a BRUSA Combo
Champion score to Empire's Web site, the count appears on the site as one
higher than in the game? I noticed it twice now. I guess if it's the same
for everybody (their script decodes the hs code wrong or something) it's
not such a big deal. I sent e-mail to the web(mail)master anyway (hoping
I'm not spoiling something that everybody is in on but me and Empire...<s>).

Yes! You don't want to have your early-but-lucky highest ramp count ever

Subject: [PS] Wildfire Studios Newsletter #2, 17-Apr-1999
Hi,
Welcome to the Wildfire Studios Newsletter! We have finally have
some news to report, so here it is!
- --- BOS 1.2 released ---
The official version 1.2 update for BOS is now available. You can
get all the details on the download section of our website at:
http://www.wildfire.com.au/projects_downloads.htm
The main change is the addition of DirectDraw display support,
which means that the game will now work with a much greater range of
video cards. (Make sure you go to the Options screen and select
DirectDraw if you've been having video problems).
If you are currently using a pre-release version of the update, we
recommend downloading the official version at some point, as it does
correct a few problems we found at the last minute.
If you have any difficulties with the update, please let us know.
- --- Devil's Island ---
We've had a number of people asking about the expected release
date for Devil's Island. For various reasons, we can't give a firm
date at present, so we'll have to say "when it's done". However, one
way or the other, the website *will* be updated with new Devil's
Island details by the end of the month...
The good news is that Devil's Island will now offer support for
resolutions up to 1024x768 in the scrolling view, and 1600x1200 in
the single-screen view, as well as other improvements, so the wait
should be worth it.

I just picked up Pinball Madness 2, and at $20 it's an exceptional value.
It includes Balls of Steel, Addiction Pinball, Pro-Pinball Timeshock!, Full
Tilt 2, and Pinball Builder.

Subject: [PS] ProPinball#4 Fantastic Journey-Good News/Bad News
All you ProPinall enthusiasts I have some good news to report. I spoke to
Stephen Wickes, Technical Manager at Empire Interactive (US) on Wednesday 1
December 1999. He reports that they are tentatively anticipating the US
release of the PC version of ProPinball#4 Fantastic Journey the first week of
January 2000. They are also anticipating the release of a playable PC version
demo just before Christmas. Stephens Wickes reports that you can pre-order a
copy of the PC version of ProPinball#4 Fantastic Journey for $24.95 by
contacting Empire Interactive at 1 (800) 216-9706 and asking for Stephen
Wickes. You may also obtain additional information concerning ProPinball#4
Fantastic Journey via E-Mail by writing Empire Interactive (US) at
info@empire-us.com. I am also very sorry to report that during my conversation
with Stephen Wickes, he stated that ProPinball#4 Fantastic Journey would be
the last and final release in the ProPinball series. Maybe if all the
ProPinball enthusiasts of the world would contact the folks at Empire
Interactive we can convince the fine folks that we want them to continue the
outstanding ProPinball series before the Cunning Developments Team is
disbanded.

Subject: [PS] Star Castle
Hi everybody,
Do any of you remember a great '80s arcade game called Star Castle? It was
one of my favorites. You drove a little spaceship around the screen and
tried to shoot the large ship in the middle, which was surrounded by energy
rings. Little energy "bombs" broke off from the rings and chased you; and
when enough rings were destroyed, the large ship started firing at you,
too. When you succeeded in hitting the large ship, you were rewarded with
a huge implosion and explosion.
Of course, now we can play the original Star Castle with an arcade-game
emulator. However, a guy named Mark Sachs has just released his updated
version of Star Castle for the PC, and it's worth downloading. The play
area is larger, the enemies are smarter, the explosions are bigger, and you
can set the difficulty level. The sounds are great, too -- they're
enhanced versions of the originals.
And it's free (though I'm sure Mark would appreciate an email if you like
it). You can get it here:
http:/www.netaxs.com/~sleet/masterplan/
Cheers, Andy
P.S.: My apologies if any of you are Mac users.

Subject: [PS] Pro Pinball: Hall of Fame
Hi Pinball Freaks !
I started a few weeks ago, to build a Hall of Fame with the Best Players of
the Pro Pinball series and also with the people who made these great games.
You can find it on my homepage http://www.tmt.at/ante/ (pinball page).
If you also wanna be in this Hall of Fame, send me some information about
you (favourite pinball games, hobbys, country, birthday, a picture from you,
.... what you want), and I will add you to the site.
Till now, I got only complete information from a few players, but I hope I
will get them all :-) So I would be very pleased, if you could help me a
little bit !
Thanks and greetings,
Andreas 'Ante' Grabher.
