The Tower of Pinball website says that its out in the US.
I have looked all over the place also and I was met with the same stares
and blank faces as you. I assume its not out yet here.
I did get a chance to play it on demo disc included with a us mag and I was
very impressed with what I saw. One thing I did notice that is common in
all the Pro Pinball
games is that its way to dark for my liking. (the higher the resolution the
worse it gets)
I think a developer of the series said on this list that a gamma correction
type
feature was on their wish list for the future and that we would maybe see
this in a future patch. Has this been done and released yet ???
I ended up getting Micro$oft Pinball Arcade.
What a piece of crap this set is. Heres to hoping that the series sells poorly
and the giant decides against another in the series. I would hate to see
some of the tables voted for in that last wish list campaign ( i.e Black
Knight) get the same
unjustice and treatment that the tables in the first got.
Hey at least they got the sound right !!!! (I think)

I wonder if it's "officially out" but hasn't reached the 'retail channels'
yet (i.e. PB shelf space is still paid for by Sierra and M$ or whatever...).

Hmm, never bothered me or even noticed. Used to have a STB Velocity 128 and
recently got an STB Velocity 4400 AGP. Seems alright though I guess a gamma
feature would be justified just in case.

With all the shelf space they are getting making it look like it's the one
to get...?
I don't dislike it but for the 80+MB install (I only have a 4GB SCSI drive
bought in times when a 30MB game install seemed huge, I'll have to free
space for BRUSA's 240+MB) it doesn't knock me off my feet either. I'm sort
of indifferent about it, pretty effort but no real motivation to play it much.

If you don't have much harddisk space you can delete sound files
for the frequencies you don't use. E.g. you use 22kHz - then delete
all 11k and 44k sound files. You can save 100MB(?) of harddisk space.
The same works with the various graphic resolutions. Once decided
you can clear disc space here, too.

I haven't been told anything certain about BRUSA beeing out in the US, the
release list on the sites news page just says it is out in europe.
The only thing about the us release is what some joker said, namely it
would hit the stores in us on february 30th...

This list is certainly HEATING up! Went to BRUSA page and a lot of =
people are playing!!! Are they all in Europe? No ladder yet (i =
think-was in a rush). Have to get back to find out start dates, etc. if =
any..=20
On advice learned in list, I did the following at=20
http://www.outpost.com :
Outpost # 57192 Qty: 1
Desc: Pro Pinball: Big Race USA
Price: $29.95
SUBTOTAL: $29.95
Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $0.00
TOTAL: $29.95
They have free shipping thru the end of February. After ordering, i =
took advantage of their tracking feature (ended up having to call =
toll-free #) to find that they do not know when they will get game nor =
how many they will get, other than knowing they will get the 6 =
backordered units taken to date. How reassuring! =20
I still think BOS is the BEST EVER!!!! I want posting site back!! Can =
we do anything to get it back? How much does it cost????

You can delete just about any file in the DAT directory, as long as it exists on
the CD, in fact if you can put up with the loading times, you can delete the entire
DAT directory. If you want to delete the GFX for resolutions, they are stored in
the DAT\PC\Vxy directory where "x" is the table view (0=low 1=medium 2=high) and
"y" is the resolution ("1"=640x480 up to "5" for 1600x1200)
If you manually add files, you will need to manually delete them when you uninstall
the game.

Not yet I'm afraid. We've been busy getting "Pro Pinball 4" and a non-Pinball
game off the ground. Gamma correction falls just behind saving the high-score
codes (to a disk file) on the requests that I've seen. We were hoping to have
it in for the release of BRUSA, but it got pushed out due to time.

A designer on the 3D Ultra Pinball series told us the cancellation of 3D
Ultra NFL Pinball was not related to the massive Sierra layoffs. The team,
which is still designing other 3D Ultra Pinball titles, decided the NFL
license would not sell in Europe, which is where the games have
traditionally sold well. Only one pinball team member was lost due to the
layoffs. Ken Schramm of Sierra confirmed there are more 3D Ultra Pinball
Titles under development.

I suppose I could add to that what I was told in an email from one of the
pr people at sierra "the 3D Ultra Line is still very much continuing -- we
have three new titles for 1999."
not sure if that is one title with three tables she meant or if it is three
different products, well I'm not a bigger sierra fan so I find it midly
interesting whichever

I have no idea who you are, as you didn't sign your post. (This is Andy
Fielding speaking.) Thanks for replying, though.
I asked Outpost.Com about BRUSA. Here's what they (or rather, what their
form-reply) said:
>Thank you for your interest in this product. Unfortunately, the item
>has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.
>However, we sell many other products that may fit your needs, so please
>visit our web site at <http://www.outpost.com>. Also, please feel free

So, it's out of print?? Can that be right? I thought it was brand-new.
Or did it simply sell so poorly that the merchants all sent it back?

I ordered my BRUSA USA copy directly from Empire US at
http://www.empire-us.com/
It's $39.95 but I got it in back February. From the print on the box it
actually looks like it's the British packaging, like they had some stock
shipped over? Since I received the game I haven't checked up on other
places to order from and I don't even know if it has hit the stores here.

Subject: Suggestions For Pro Pinball
Dear Sir,
I don't know if I'm sending this to the right folks but I would like =
this forwarded to the powers to be at Cunning Developments. I truly =
believe that I have viable suggestions that would make Pro Pinball more =
enjoyable to the avid pinball enthusiast. Please forward to Pro Pinball =
Cunning Developments.
I would like to commend you folks for making the outstanding Pro =
Pinball games. I have purchased all three of your Pro Pinball products =
and attest that they are the best PC pinball simulations available.
I would like to suggest that you folks seriously consider making a =
pinball simulation along the old classic electro mechanical table =
similar to what Microsoft did with Pinball Arcade and the Gottlieb =
tables. I am not suggesting that you copy any particular existing =
electro mechanical pinball table. I am suggesting designing a new table =
that captures the look, feel, sound of the old nostalgic classic electro =
mechanical machine. I believe with the experience and expertise of =
Cunning Developments that it is possible to integrate the best of the =
old electro mechanical table with the new solid state machine.
I believe the PC pinball enthusiast enjoys hearing all the =
mechanical sounds of relays, servos, transformers, springs, mechanical =
linkage make during game play that is indicative of the old electro =
mechanical machines.
I believe this new classic table could have an unique feature =
designed in to allow the table top playing field to be raised up and =
view the under side of the table. When viewing the underside of the =
table top you would be able to view all the relays, servos, transformers, =
springs, mechanical linkages, tilt mechanism, lights, fuses, wires and =
all the other things that make an electro mechanical table work. I =
believe this would enhance the illusion that this is a real pinball =
machine. This goes hand and hand with the aim of Pro Pinball to bring =
the simulation experience as close as possible to actually owning and =
playing a real pinball machine.
I believe this raising the table top feature could be integrated =
into the Options Menu and become one of the functions in the menu. =
Example - You would raise the table top and adjust (maybe turn a screw =
or something) on one of the servo relays to change the power of the =
flippers. This is just one example and other Option Menu items =
adjustments could be made in this fashion.
A feature that could be incorporated before game play begins during =
the testing phase would be that all the relays, servos, flippers, =
lights, etcetera, quickly cycle through making all the various operating =
sounds.
I would like to suggest that when designing your new release of Pro =
Pinball that you design a clear view table that allows full view of the =
ball when it is in play. I believe the player should not have the ball =
obscured by objects and have to guess where the ball is hiding when it =
is in play.
I would also like to suggest that you consider making a table that =
has multi-levels somewhat along the lines of Gottlieb's Haunted House. =
This multi-level playing field makes the game more challenging =
especially if the multi-level flippers are controlled by different =
control keys.
In your literature you mention that Cunning Developments visit the =
newsgroup rec.games.pinball. Do they ever visit the Pinball Simulation =
Web Page http://www.pcpinball.com ? This is an informative site devoted =
to the PC pinball enthusiast. Many PC pinball simulation players visit =
this site and in the site's message board express their views, ideas, =
and desires. I believe the Cunning Developments team can benefit by =
routinely visiting this site.
I hope this E-Mail has provided some ideas that might help make Pro =
Pinball better.
Sincerely,
Harold Wm (Bill) Gross (bjkg@zebra.net)

So you want them to make a unrealistic piece of shit like the Micro$oft
product ?

All this was done in the last release.
Didnt you see it ?
It was on the operator menu right after the options, unpack and plug in the
pinball but before the option to level the playfield.
I had a hell of a time getting my BigRace to level right !!
I would like to suggest that when designing your new

That was the one thing that pisssed me off with the Microsoft product
and Haunted House was the default settings for the flippers.
So what are their 7 or 8 flippers in Haunted House and you want to assign
different keys to each levels flippers ?
Thats insane !!!!!!
Hey I got a better idea.
Lets let the guys at Cunning work on the easy shit first like
giving us a patch that has Gamma correction and saving Hi scores to
a file before you start going under your next Pro Pinball game with
a solder iron.
