"Take everything you love about puzzle games, throw in fast-paced
arcade/pinball style action, and you have Wetrix. What began as an attempt
to program realistic looking water on the Nintendo 64 has turned into one
of the best and most original puzzle games ever conceived..."
That's how Nintendorks (http://www.nintendorks.com/reviews/brandon/wetrix/)
glowing review of Wetrix (Nintendo version) begins. It got this rating:
>Gameplay: 10
>Sound: 9
>Music: 9
>Control: 8
>Graphics: 9
>Replay: 10
>Overall: 9
>Buy it: Yes
This is good stuff.
I saw the Windows version at Staples today. Don't let the reviewer's
reference to "puzzle games" turn you off: This game is about agility,
alertness, and the ability to maneuver rapidly-rolling objects over strange
landscapes. In other words, big pinball overtones---which is why I'm
telling you about it.
I'd try to describe it further, but it's so unusual, I'd just make it sound
stupid. Instead, read the review (which is excellent) and you'll get a
very good idea.
I would've bought it on the spot, but unfortunately my wife was there, and
she'd divorce me if I bought any more software in front of her---which
means I'll have to sneak back there and get it on my own. Despite all
that, it's CHEAP---$10 Canadian, which is, like, $6 in real money.
Cheers, A.

Hey, guys, my last post? About that game, Wetrix? Forget it. I just
downloaded the demo, and it's good for about 10 minutes of semi-fun. Sorry
to rant 'n' rave like that. (As the guy in The Wizard Of Oz said, "Pay no
attention to that man behind the curtain.")
Sheepishly, Andy

Okay, guys, I have a better perspective on the Wetrix thing now.
When I first played the demo, I guess I was just disappointed it didn't
live up to that incredible review. Now that I've played the demo a few
times, though, I have to admit it's reasonably fun, and that I probably
_will_ go spend the $9.99 to pick up a full copy. It's quite a different
kind of game, it does take planning and agility, and it has a lot of humor.
I don't see where the reviewer got his similarity to pinball at all.
(Maybe because the falling water drops reminded him of pinballs?) It's not
a bad game, though.
Cheers, Andy
