Subject: [PS] Fox Arcade
Date: 09 Feb 1999 12:00:18 -0700
Fox Interactive will combine such hot properties as Buffy the Vampire
Slayer, Aliens, Predator and The Fly with arcade pinball action in their
upcoming game Fox Arcade: Sci-Fi Pinball. The game is scheduled for
release this March, according to a press release issued by the company
today.
Fox Arcade: Sci-Fi Pinball is being developed by Gigawatt Studios for
Windows 95/98, Mac, and iMac systems, and will retail for around
$29.95. According to Fox Interactive, the game will feature over 100
movie clips from the aforementioned shows and films, plenty of sound
bytes, five different pinball tables, special side games, and up to four
player multiplay capabilities.

I think that the game should have internet support in order to allow you
play with others. And i hope I'm wrong, but the only game I've seen that
allows that is BRUSA

About Directx I don 't know exactly, I think that I makes easier for the
programmers to maka games, but i'm not sure.Oh, BRUSA stands for Big
Race usa, the third pinball in the pro pinball series...If you don't
know them, try to find some info at www.empire-us.com .I have all of
them , and they are considered the best pinball simulations around
I hope this will help you

Subject: [PS] BRUSA in USA - not in shops but at Empire US?
Date: 17 Feb 1999 18:30:04 -0700
I don't know what the official status is on the US release of BRUSA but it
can now be ordered online at Empire's US Web site for $39.95 (I had to
delete my browser cache for the order form to display correctly). I've
placed my order but there was no order receipt and it says merchandise is
shipped within 28 days!? Hopefully it will arrive soon. I've checked at
Best Buy and CompUSA but was met with blank stares when I asked shop
assistants for it. Apparently they don't have access to any kind of release
lists and the title didn't ring a bell with them either... However, there
was a short review in the last issue of CGW (Computer Gaming World) that
sounded like it was officially out?
In my previous post I didn't mean to complain about a delay, I merely
wanted to solicit if anybody knew more about the US release.
Best,
-Martin

It has been available at cyberian outpost through the european pinball

That is how I ordered mine. It took about 2 weeks even with a
backorder. Came today---2/17/99

The Tower of Pinball website says that its out in the US.
I have looked all over the place also and I was met with the same stares
and blank faces as you. I assume its not out yet here.
I did get a chance to play it on demo disc included with a us mag and I was
very impressed with what I saw. One thing I did notice that is common in
all the Pro Pinball
games is that its way to dark for my liking. (the higher the resolution the
worse it gets)
I think a developer of the series said on this list that a gamma correction
type
feature was on their wish list for the future and that we would maybe see
this in a future patch. Has this been done and released yet ???
I ended up getting Micro$oft Pinball Arcade.
What a piece of crap this set is. Heres to hoping that the series sells poorly
and the giant decides against another in the series. I would hate to see
some of the tables voted for in that last wish list campaign ( i.e Black
Knight) get the same
unjustice and treatment that the tables in the first got.
Hey at least they got the sound right !!!! (I think)

I wonder if it's "officially out" but hasn't reached the 'retail channels'
yet (i.e. PB shelf space is still paid for by Sierra and M$ or whatever...).

Hmm, never bothered me or even noticed. Used to have a STB Velocity 128 and
recently got an STB Velocity 4400 AGP. Seems alright though I guess a gamma
feature would be justified just in case.

With all the shelf space they are getting making it look like it's the one
to get...?
I don't dislike it but for the 80+MB install (I only have a 4GB SCSI drive
bought in times when a 30MB game install seemed huge, I'll have to free
space for BRUSA's 240+MB) it doesn't knock me off my feet either. I'm sort
of indifferent about it, pretty effort but no real motivation to play it much.

If you don't have much harddisk space you can delete sound files
for the frequencies you don't use. E.g. you use 22kHz - then delete
all 11k and 44k sound files. You can save 100MB(?) of harddisk space.
The same works with the various graphic resolutions. Once decided
you can clear disc space here, too.

I haven't been told anything certain about BRUSA beeing out in the US, the
release list on the sites news page just says it is out in europe.
The only thing about the us release is what some joker said, namely it
would hit the stores in us on february 30th...

This list is certainly HEATING up! Went to BRUSA page and a lot of =
people are playing!!! Are they all in Europe? No ladder yet (i =
think-was in a rush). Have to get back to find out start dates, etc. if =
any..=20
On advice learned in list, I did the following at=20
http://www.outpost.com :
Outpost # 57192 Qty: 1
Desc: Pro Pinball: Big Race USA
Price: $29.95
SUBTOTAL: $29.95
Tax: $0.00
Shipping: $0.00
TOTAL: $29.95
They have free shipping thru the end of February. After ordering, i =
took advantage of their tracking feature (ended up having to call =
toll-free #) to find that they do not know when they will get game nor =
how many they will get, other than knowing they will get the 6 =
backordered units taken to date. How reassuring! =20
I still think BOS is the BEST EVER!!!! I want posting site back!! Can =
we do anything to get it back? How much does it cost????

You can delete just about any file in the DAT directory, as long as it exists on
the CD, in fact if you can put up with the loading times, you can delete the entire
DAT directory. If you want to delete the GFX for resolutions, they are stored in
the DAT\PC\Vxy directory where "x" is the table view (0=low 1=medium 2=high) and
"y" is the resolution ("1"=640x480 up to "5" for 1600x1200)
If you manually add files, you will need to manually delete them when you uninstall
the game.

Not yet I'm afraid. We've been busy getting "Pro Pinball 4" and a non-Pinball
game off the ground. Gamma correction falls just behind saving the high-score
codes (to a disk file) on the requests that I've seen. We were hoping to have
it in for the release of BRUSA, but it got pushed out due to time.
