The other film by Ron Fricke, who was one of the people that worked on
Koyaanisqatsi, is entitled Baraka. Very much along a similar vein, but cool
nonetheless... I haven't heard much about Powaqqatsi or Naqoyqatsi... Can
anyone that's seen them recommend them, or are they not nearly the same
calibre as Koyaanisqatsi?
And for the record, I listen to the orb quite a lot, and do not and have not
done drugs. ;-p
(although many of my friends don't believe it.. hehe..)

indeed, Autechre is very good live (noisy and dancy :) and Mira Calix was
pretty good too when she & Ae played over here last April (though her set
started out a bit too noisy and broken, she managed to work around it and
get things REALLY moving :)

Edward Gorey is a really cool artist who did the opening for PBS' Mystery
Theatre. I hate mysteries for the most part but that is the coolest
animated title I've ever seen.

i know this reply is a bit late....but that track is
Talvin Singh feat Amar entitled "Jaan". it's on his
"Anokha - Soundz of the Asian Underground" has his
stuff and some other ppl.
i agree the premise is odd, but *shrug* personally,
the clubs i go to in the US don't even have a
chill-out room, the ones that play techno can seem to
have to play the chem bros and late prodigy 2x every
hr. so i go to industrial and gothic ones. at least
i hear good stuff when i am clubbing around europe.
and past that, i have NEVER heard the orb in a club
when they weren't live.
my rambling is done

The deepest electronic dub must be the stuff Rhythm & Sound made with
Tikiman. Rhythm & Sound is actually Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus
(Maurizio, Basic Channel label) who blend their finest dub techno with the
voice of Tikiman. Basic Channel and its offspring, Chain Reaction records,
were and are still responsible for the finest and most fascinating (dub)
techno on this planet. Check out http://www.snafu.de/~circonium/music for
more details and cool links. Rhythm & Sound sound quite like downtempo
versions of Maurizio's techno classics, very deep, dubby and spacy. They have
one cd ("Showcase") on which all vinyl pressings are collected. You won't be
dissapointed!
