I have uploaded the Gary Newman orb track from Random as well as a
Gong remix and Third Whale Trip to Timmin's orb FTP site (its the one
that's only running from like 9-5). Enjoy!

Since no one's come to his defense after Orbette's comment (must have =

Le petit Orb. He's one of the best DJ's I've ever heard. His sets are =
eclectic (how he starts on ambient and dub and works his way to the =
fastest, roughest D'n'B and Hardcore amazed me), always exciting, and =
you're basically getting a sampling of everything's that's most =
innovative in electronic music at the time (slipping in some awesome =

scope.

Fair enough Charles, I will give you that as far as eclectism is music is concerned. My comment was more with respect DJing technique. A friend of mine described, as we watched him spin one night, as, "Steel toed boots in a dryer set on low." In other words, mixes are of the Amtrak derailment variety.

I've got a question about. The Geep sounds very similar to song from
"Auntie Aubrey's..." by Yasuaki Shimizu "Secret Squirrel". Is it a
mistake, or the same samples (2 many samples IMHO). And is Yasuaki
Shimizu a member of Saxophonettes????

Ok, this isn't an Orb question, but I've heard this group
mentioned here about 100 times: Yellow Magic Orchestra.
Who are they? What is their music like? Is this like
a psychedelic version of Electric Light Orchestra, or what?
I found at least one (maybe two?) LPs in quite nice shape at
a used record store, and the album(s) dates to the early 1980s,
I think. No, I don't know the name of it, but I was wondering
if this was worth picking up. Suggestions anyone?
Have a great weekend all!
Vincent

afternoon all.
spoke to andy today, and here's the latest orb news...
- - they are mastering the UFOff compilation, and should finish it today.
- - it's a 2cd affair, and there WILL be some unreleased mixes included. they're
having problems with the BPI regulation that 80% of the tracks on cd2 must be
tracks on cd1, but are working on getting everything fitted on.
- - it's due out in october in the uk. as soon as i have a tracklisting, i'll
post it on to everyone.
- - next week, they're leaving Trident Studios and moving out to a studio in the
country to get away and mix the NEW ALBUM. they'll be there for three weeks,
initially, before playing a gig in spain. after that, they'll head back.
- - finally, andy has become a father again, and now has a daughter to go with
his son. congratulations!

What? If you want to put out a double-CD set, you have to duplicate 80% of the
tracks from one CD to the next? That makes no sense at all. What does this mean?

I thought we had strange laws/regulations in the US. I am curious to what
this means and who regulates it. (and why?).
Thanks.
