I just hope that Nintendo doesn't Gameshark proof Zelda: Gaiden. I am still
annoyed that I can't copy my Zelda: Ocarina saves to a memory card.

Why not? I think that'd be a fine idea. They did it with the Expansion Pak. I
don't see myself getting Pokemon Stadium at all. But I would like to get the
Transfer Pak for Perfect Dark.

Yeah, I saw one. Really some poor ads there. If I didn't recognise the words
"You know it's alive, but even worse, it knows it's alive." from the print
ads I'd have no idea what it is for. Maybe somebody else is footing the bill?
Personally thge best game commercial I've seen in a long time is the Mario
Golf commercial where Donkey Kong is in the sand trap. That and the Super
Smash Bros "So Happy Together" commercial.

Well that's obvious, if you notice an important detail. When Link lays the
Master Sword to rest in the Temple of Time that is where he and Navi part
company. When Link pops in on Zelda Navi isn't with him.
But how beating Ganon in the future erases him in the past makes no sense at
all. The only way it could make sense is if Link (or Zelda) was able to
combine all three pieces of the Triforce, but that didn't happen cos Ganon
was sealed in the (Dark World) with the Triforce of Power.
Ah, it was still fun.

But if Ganondorf didn't become a threat then it wouldn't set the stage for
future games. At the end of Ocarina, as we all know, Ganon in cast into the
void of the Sacred Realm still holding the Triforce of Power. That sets it up
perfectly for A Link to the Past.

Brand New: one of the football games. Probably QBC2000, but only if the AI
is better than QBC'99. If the AI doesn't get any better, I will be heading
over to the Madden line.
Used: I am looking for a cheap copy of Mario Golf.

Eddy,
I think someone has already mentioned this, but they are planning on packing
in the Expansion Pak with DK. Why not release the GB64 pak seperately?
Trust me, I have no interest in the Pokemon game, but I would love to map
someone's face onto an oppenent in PD.

Well, I might get Rayman 2 for the N64...but there's a good chance I will
hold out for the DC version. On a side note, are there any good PC
gamepads that have analog thumbsticks? Because I would also consider
getting the PC versions of games like Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble if I had
a good analog pad.

I really like that ad with the Asian woman...but I do have to agree that I
think with only 2 or so weeks to go until launch, that it is really time
to start showing games. Of course, I have yet to see any of the 4 ads
released so far on TV (I have them downloaed on my PC though), I know they
are on because some of my friends have
seen them here, but I have not a single one. The only ad I have seen was
at the movie theater (at least it had lots of game footage).

True. We don't know enough to say anything for sure. The GB transfer pack
would have to be out intime for PD. If it makes it Dec 6 release, it could be
released as a separate accessory or dare i say "packed in?"

To the best of my knowledge, there are several generations of Links and Princess
Zeldas. That's the best explanation i've heard so far and it makes sense.
Gannondoft swore revenge on future generations when he was sealed off, which
explains everything else that followed in th other series. Storywise, Zelda
doesn't come close to Final Fantasy or even the Mana series. But the game is a
lot of fun and the story makes sense to me. Certainly the tri-force myth has
gotten deeper and deeper with each installment, which I like. With the next
machine, I think Zelda is going to be even deeper, and likely confuse us even
more :-)
Quick note, Gaiden is a sub quest type game in a different dimension, much like
Link's Awakening (which is a dream.) So in reality, there's only four Zelda
games that carry the story. Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Zelda 3, Zelda 5. And Zelda 1
and 2 feature the same hereo Zelda 3: Link to the past feature the same here as
link's awakening, and Zelda 5: Ocarina of Time will feature the hero as Zelda
Gaiden and Ura Zelda.

You never know. URA Zelda is suppose to feature many of the same dungeons from
Ocarina but with expansions or whatever. Clearly
its designed to hook on the existing game and share data with it.
Again, I would never underestimate Nintendo's resourcefulness. If they really
need it, they will release it as a lock-on cartridge for the US market
or modify the game to come out as a separate cartridge. They mi ght add chips
or whatever that substitutes the 64DD's functions (internal clock) and use a big
battery backed up ram chip to allow some kind of saving resembling what can be
done on the 64DD. Again, its a big stretch, but its not entirely impossible.
But Gaiden looks to be really good and will likely make it out here next year.
If it ever cross to the pacific, URA might infact be one of theN64's last
titles, released in a the lull before Nintendo launches its next machine.

Its a Strategy/RPG.
That Genre was created by the original Fire Emblem for the Famicom and has

JFG actually looks pretty good and is looking more and more like RARE rip-off
of Metroid. (It use to look like Megaman, but the motif has since moved
toward Metroid as shown in the never screens) albeit with the usual RARE look.
The main characters for example, have an unusual non-gourard shaded roundness
to them, which is amazing, as they look like some primitibe form of real-time
ray tracing to me. Especially considering the amount of detail RARE is
pushing on the background.

Sony had some kick ass ads for the past few years, but lately, their ads are
derivative, boring and same old same old. I mean, the Ape Escape ads are totally
missing the spot and barely showed off how good the game actually is. Driver ads
were decent though.
The Smash Brothers ad is hilarious :-) Heheh, its got this ironic feel to it.
Mario Golf is ok. Episode 1 ads were fine as well.

Heh.. I don't think he's saying that (unless he's been hitting the bottle

of Nintendo ads is pretty horrible. Although one thing I like is that they
don't fake stuff like Sony does... did you see that ad for some Bugs Bunny
game, where part of it was actual game footage and the other part was
rendered graphics with game icons (life meter, etc) on it?

I would say 75% of Nintendo's commercials are good. I tend to like PSX

That could be what URA Zelda will be. Who knows? (maybe Dex knows but getting
secrets from him is like getting blood from a character in SNES Mortal Kombat)

Recently anyway. I haven't seen anything good from Sony these days. Those Ape
Escape commercials were really bad.

I sobered up before I did my posts. But no, I do like Nintendo's commercials
as of late. It's been a long time since I've seen (well, heard) Donkey Kong
getting violent.

WOOF!! I played the japanese version of Fire Emblem and I must say it
is in my opinion even better than final fantasy! The layout and
characters are very interesting and the battles are nicely made too. It
runs on a system where you can move your character only a certain amount
of cubic area in battle and then you can decide what to do from there.
It's very fun...
