Banjo-Kazooie came out here in Australia last Friday. Usual Rare PAL
conversion, full speed, full screen. It's a nice game, but... it seems a tad
overrated. I mean how can people mention it in the same breath as Mario? The
graphics and audio are technically nice, but not very well composed. And the
gameplay is nothing new. It's not even as long or difficult as Mario64.
The camera is all wrong. Most of the time you have no control over it at
all, giving the game a claustrophobic feel. You should be encouraged to
explore and look around, but you need to switch to 1st person to do so. The
1st person kinda breaks the flow of the game since it's actually 1st person,
not behind the head like in Mario.
The music may feature a bunch of nice samples, but it isn't actually good
music. And the graphics are nice, with lots of high res textures, but the
colours and the way the levels are composed and designed just doesn't look
very exciting.
Yeah, so it's a nice game and all, but IMO overrated. Probably ranks
somewhere like 5th best N64 game. Any comments?

What exactly is this Boolean logic? Simple logic not good enough? And
what is a Karnaugh map? It seems to me that the need for any sort of map
to be logical is illogical. :)

Boolean logic is 'binary' logic - there are only ever two possible answers,
TRUE or FALSE. It's the base of logic & the base of computing.
Karnaugh maps (as far as I remember) are tables listing all possible
'outcomes' of a boolean equation.
Boolean logic is *extremely* powerful, *extremely* straightforward, and you
use it just about every day without realising it ;-)
And if ya want to do anything serious programming wise or even math wise,
you'll be doing it constantly.

I don't know why not. I myself own a Z64 and REALLY enjoy it. I won't
comment on what I do with it, but I think the cool thing about it is you can
program with it. It has an internal ZIP drive, and I downloaded a game
called MAME64 off the internet. Someone programmed this and made it
especially for Z64 users. It is a cool game....has about 150 arcade
classics. Anyway, if you have no idea what a Z64 is, you can go check it
out here (where I bought it):
http://www.softidea.com/z64/
The only bad thing about this system is that it costs about $400....took me
a while to save up for it. But believe me.....its worth it.

Have you been living under a rock? GoldenEye was made by Rare (Rareware), you
know, the company responsible for such great games like Wizards & Warriors,
Battletoads, Blast Corps, Killer Instinct (arcade), Killer Instinct Gold,
Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Donkey Kong Land 1-3, and some over-rated titles like
Diddy Kong Racing, Ironsword, and Banjo-Kazooie.

War Gods
Mortal Kombat Mythologies : Sub Zero
Mike Piazza's StrikeZone
Mace : The Dark Age
Nagano Winter Olympics '98
Actually I was kidding, you really should get :
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario 64
Wave Race 64
Blast Corps
Banjo - Kazooie (although I'm not fond of it, the masses seem to approve of

Zelda is going to be kidnapped by Ganondorf Dragmire like always. Such a silly
question. Another answer is : Zelda 64 is gonna sell like hotcakes.
As for Nintendo's track record. Nintendo did great with the NES, Game Boy,
Super NES, and so far with the N64 in America, their only true failure was the
Virtual Boy. The N64 is in 3rd place in Japan, but third place is not failure,
would you call the Sega Mega Drive a failure? So as far as Nintendo's track
record, I'd say they're doing quite well. Not as well as they did with the
NES, Game Boy, & Super NES; but nothing lasts forever.
I'm gonna get a DreamCast, but not when it first comes out (unless Street
Fighter 3 is a premiere game).

The rules are : No swearing, no flaming other people, no attachment files

Nobody spends $400 to buy a device to backup their games. We all know
that. If these devices were legal, then u should be able to buy them at

Zelda already got postponed enough. Zelda won't be delayed
anymore i think. I think the game should be finished by now. If not,
they got slow lazy programmers working for japan-nintendo. The
programmers are probably playing 007, instead of programming zelda.

Well, now that Banjo-K is out, you don't need Mario 64.
I suggest you should buy Banjo-Kazooie. if u like BK alot, then u should
get Mario64 also.
Should also own either DiddyKR or MarioKart. I like MarioKart more.
I own both since I really like these kart racing games.

Hmm.. Personally I'd go with: Mario Kart 64, All Star Baseball '99,
San Francisco Rush, Madden 64 and I guess Banjo-Kazooie (even tho I find
it too be a little boring). Later..

Well, actually, I had an alterrior motive in buying Yoshi's Story. My plan is
that since the game is SO easy, I could buy it for $20 at EB, and get my
siblings to play it. None of my brothers or sisters play video games, claiming
that 3-D games like Mario 64 are too confusing and hard (yes, I know, they ARE
idiots). So, I buy Yoshi's Story, an easy, old-school side scroller, and BAM!
They won't put the game down. Already that talk about wanting to buy a fourth
controller and stuff (I only have 3), and I hardly have to pay for games
anymore. The only game I'll probably have to pay for is Turok II: Seeds of
Evil, since Zelda, Castlevania, and Roque Squadron are all games they want.
And since I own the N64, they have to let me handle the care of the games.
Heheh...

I agree with you about DKR and Banjo-Kazooie being overrated. DKR was
very boring to me for some reason. I loved Mario Kart 64, tho. And I haven't
played Banjo-Kazooie a whole lot, but it wasn't all that fun. I'm gonna rent it
then and maybe my opinion will change. What didn't you like about it? Later..

1. Super Mario 64 (IMHO, its better than BK)
2. Mario Kart 64 (I have had this game since it came out and I STILL play
all the time and its better than DK Racing IMHO!)
3. Wetrix ( AWESOME puzzler!)
4. Waverace (Still awe inspiring)
5. Blast Corps (FUN & Challenging!)

Oh.. Really? Well, I like any sports game except basketball (except
the NBA Jam/Hangtime games I liked them). Is NBA Hangtime for 64 as good
as the arcade? Just wondered cause that game in the arcade was awesome.
Later..

What about CD recorders? They cost between 200-700+ and can be used to backup
playstation+ PC games, and audio cds. They're also used for archiving data,
but that's okay. You *are* allowed to back up PSX games + audio CDs, right?
About **cartridge** backup, well, yeah that's illegal. I mean, HOW could you
even mess up a cartridge so much that it wouldn't work? That's pretty hard..

There is *no* way Zelda is going to be delayed. Nintendo is not stupid (well,
sorta not). That is the key **Christmas Season**. Parents looking for games to
buy kids, and they find Zelda: TOoT. Looks good, no blood, nothing explicit,
box probably promises "60+ hours of entertainment", kid probably has earlier
versions of Zelda. Parents buy game. I, for one am putting it on my Christmas
list, considering I'll probably be broke by then (Harvest Moon GB, Legend of
the River King (maybe), GB color, *all* those PSX RPGs...btw, any psx owners
out there, have you heard anything about Azure Dreams? Is it supposed to be
good? I've gotten mixed review).

<< Well, actually, I had an alterrior motive in buying Yoshi's Story. My plan
is
that since the game is SO easy, I could buy it for $20 at EB, and get my
siblings to play it. None of my brothers or sisters play video games,
claiming
that 3-D games like Mario 64 are too confusing and hard (yes, I know, they
ARE
Heheh...

Either you are really smart, or your siblings are really stupid...or both.
That's a good plan :). Is there anyway to add a thing to my N64 where you have
to put in a quarter every 5 minutes or so? Or maybe something so it resets
after a few minutes? My brother steals my N64 and Playstation, takes them to
parties, and loans my games to his friends. And if I yell at him, he spits on
me (ick). Can any of you think of anything to *prevent* him from taking it?
