  556. film, I was even thinking of putting it at number 1 but
  557. then I thought Goodfellas deserved it more ... still a 5/5
  558. and I only gave that rating to 20 to 25 films ever ... I
  559. haven't given a 5/5 since I saw "American beauty" unless I
  560. am mistaken so it's not like I give those away easily !

  1170. I liked this film but it was still a slight disappointment
  1171. as before seeing it I was thinking it certainly had a shot
  1172. at my Top 10 favorites for 2000 ... It ends up at 3/5 so it
  1173. won't make it.
  1174.  
  1175. Simple story of a naughty girl who gets in trouble in
  1176. school fighting people so one day she decides to start
  1177. training to become a boxer.  We also meet her drunken
  1178. father and her lil' brother that was also training to be a
  1179. boxer at one point but he was so bad that he decided to
  1180. quit and make drawings instead.  ;-)  We see her train,
  1181. fight, train, fight, meet a nice boy at the gym, flirt,
  1182. talk to her girlfriend, swear for no reason ... etc.
  1183.  
  1184. The entire film is very predictable and I could see all the
  1185. "twists" coming from far away ... especially the ones
  1186. involving the boyfriend ! (Santiago Douglas)  ;-)
  1187.  
  1188. Good work by Michelle Rodriguez in the lead, she is indeed
  1189. in good shape and almost made me believe she could be an
  1190. amateur fighter ... but it's pretty clear that she could
  1191. never really win a whole lot of fights, unless she fights
  1192. only beginners ... Her technique was more than questionable
  1193. ... Plus, could she really win fighting against boys ...
  1194. even if they are the same weight ??  
  1195. I find that unlikely ...
  1196.  
  1197. At one point she is having a discussion with a boxer, one
  1198. of her opponents ... and she is supposed to be the exact
  1199. same weight as him according to the script (125 pounds even
  1200. !) ... yet it was obvious to me that the boy weighed at
  1201. least 15 pounds more, he was 6 inches taller and his arms
  1202. were certainly bigger (I almost laughed when he said in a
  1203. whining voice : "I gave everything I had but you beat me
  1204. ..." ... ;-)   snif ! snif !  If he had *really* given
  1205. everything he had I think she would have ended up in a
  1206. hospital ...
