www.themovieagent.com is a new site that is in search of sites to link to
and from.
At this time The Movie Agent is waiting for the next weeks replies before
finishing the site.
All emails are read and urls viewed. The Movie Agent has it's game up
and running and plans to have the Writers Board, Editors, Agents, Indy
Film, Main Stream, and anything dealing with Movies up and running by the
second week in July.
Thanks

Yeah, well they'd better do a LOT better than they are now!
Their site is full of broken links, misspellings, and goofy, distorted
graphics.
Maybe someday ... but not now!

I have a quick question to ask about this actor. One of my friends told me
that Bruce Willis once played a gay role. I told her that I had never
heard of Willis playing a role of this nature. Could someone please
confirm this if it is true. Also, I'm not saying that playing gay roles
is a bad thing. Some of the best actors and actresses have played gay
roles. For example: Greg Kinnear, Cuba Gooding Jr., Leonardo Dicaprio,
Joshua Jackson, Kerr Smith, Paul Rudd, plus many more...

This is a forward for those of you who like Star Wars. It goes along like
that song "Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen)". I apologize to those who
hate forwards, and especially since this is a list, but I thought it was
kind of neat. So I thought I would share it.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Vassar College class of '99... embrace the
Dark Side.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, The Dark Side would be
it. The
long-term benefits of The Dark Side have been proved by the Dark Lords
of The Sith,
whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own
meandering cruelty and conquests.
I will dispense this advice now...
Enjoy the power and beauty of your planet. Oh, never mind, you will
never
understand the power and the beauty of your planet until after the
Empire
has destroyed it in a futile attempt to find the Rebel Base. But trust
me,
in twenty years, you will look back at photos of your home and recall,
in a
way you can't grasp now, how blissfully ignorant you were, and how
fabulous
your planet really looked before it was a pile of burning space rubble.
Your planet is not as dull as you imagine.
Don't worry about the Rebellion - or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to make the Kessel run in a landspeeder. The real
troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your
twisted
mind. The kind that fire a direct hit into your reactor core at 4 PM on
some idle Tuesday.
Do in one Death Star officer every day.
Scheme.
Don't disobey the Emperor's orders; don't put up with people who disobey
yours.
Hate.
Don't waste your time on Storm troopers. They can't hit the broad side
of a barn.
The battle is long and in the end, it's only with yourself. And your
idiot son.
Remember the prophecies of the Emperor; ignore the whining of your
bratty
upstart farm boy of a son. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old light saber, but change your costume slightly with every
sequel.
Destroy.
Don't feel guilty if you have no misgivings about joining the Dark Side.
The
most interesting people I know didn't have any respect at 22 for their
victim's lives. Some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still
don't.
Have plenty of minions.
Be kind to your right hand, you'll miss it when it's gone.
Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't. Maybe your son will join you, maybe
he
won't. Maybe you'll convince your daughter to become a dark Jedi and
assist
you in your campaign of hatred and destruction; maybe she'll become a
rebel
leader and marry a scruffy looking nerf herder.
Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate
yourself
either. Your destiny is guided by the Force. So is everybody else's.
Enjoy the Force. Exploit it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or
what
other people think of your "sorcerer's ways." The ability to destroy a
planet is insignificant next to its power.
Kill. Even if you have no one to kill but a meaningless extra.
Listen to what the Emperor has foreseen, even if you don't follow his
prophecies.
Do not take your mask off, it will only make you feel ugly. And
vulnerable.
Get to know your parents. You'll never know when they'll turn out to be
your arch enemies.
Be nice to your siblings. They are your best link to your Jedi lineage
and
the ones most likely to become Jedi in the future.
Understand that lackeys come and go. But with a precious few, you should
keep from crushing their tracheas. Work hard to bridge the gaps in
geography and lifestyle, for as the more desperate you become, the more
you
will need to send bounty hunters to do your dirty work for you.
Live on Dagobah once, but leave before you get foot rot.
Live on Tattooine once, but leave before you get heat stroke.
Travel. Preferably in your own custom TIE Fighter.
Accept certain inalienable truths: rebellions will rise, the Imperial
Senate will have to be disbanded, you too will get old. And when you do,
you'll fantasize that when you were young, rebels were easily crushed,
the
Imperial Senate was subservient, and citizens respected their Emperor.
Respect your Emperor.
Don't expect your son to rule the galaxy with you. Maybe he'll give in
to
his anger, maybe he'll strike you down, but you'll never know when he'll
whine pleadingly and you'll find yourself turning to the Light Side and
saving his sorry butt.
Don't strike down your old Jedi Master, or he will become more powerful
than you could possibly imagine.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply
it,
or I'll crush your throat. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it
is
a way of fishing your humanity from the depths of sin, wiping it off,
putting black body armor over the ugly parts and redeeming it for more
than
its worth.
But trust me on the Dark Side.

Subject: [MV] An Ideal Husband review
There's a hot new talent in town and his name is Oscar Wilde. Be on the
look out for him. He writes very witty and intelligent scripts (well mostly
plays - and then other people turn them into scripts) which is few and far
between in Hollyland. An Ideal Husband takes place 5 years before the turn
of the century - that's right 1895. There is a similarity to The Winslow
Boy with the exception that Ideal Husband was fun to watch. The cast do a
wonderful job - from Rupert Evert as the apathetic yet sincerely honest
gentleman to Julianne Moore as the coniving and reputation damaging b*tch.
The tale is fun and comes together nicely, but - and maybe this is just me -
the movie (as well as other movies of this time period) doesn't hold me
emotionally. This is a great break from the Summer Box Office No joke Is
Too Low Blow Out Bonanza as I give it a 79%.

Was it Bonfire of the Vanities??
If I recall correctly, it was a rather minor role in a rather disappointing

This new Spike Lee Joint is definitely a mish-mosh of some interesting ideas
but it just doesn't come together for me. The film is very stylish and
brutal at times which were the most interesting parts for me. There seemed
to be a lot of dancing and sex - which is fairly common for that time
period, I realise, but it didn't add to the story. It was similar to Boogie
Nights as they both dealt with multiple characters and storylines in the
70's -though it was inferior as Boogie Nights had a flow to it and the
stories of all the characters were more compelling. I will give Summer a
68%.

Second that. I also will not see WWW anytime soon, although I may if I run
out of theater choices, should that happen. But, it won't be in the next 3-4
weeks, maybe not even before Labor Day. I must add that I get nervous when
the director has to start blaming the internet for the bad early buzz the
movie was getting. Maybe it's just because the movie's not as great as you
think it is, Barry. And, the last minute reshoots, not because there
supposedly is anything wrong with it but "To make it a little funnier." Such
defensiveness has very certainly reflected a poor product, for example,
Batman & Robin and Godzilla.

(Launch) - Ten-year-old Jake Lloyd, who beat out 3,000 other boys to
land the role of Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode I - The
Phantom Menace," doesn't intend on being a one-hit wonder. The actor,
who also starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the holiday fizzler
"Jingle All The Way," has just signed onto an independent movie about
powerboat legend Mike McCormick. The Associated Press notes that the
picture, which has the working title "Madison," will have young Lloyd
playing McCormick's son. Despite fierce box office competition, "Star
Wars" continues to bring in large audiences. The film has grossed
over $370 million in the U.S. since its release May 19.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - MGM and Miramax Films announced Tuesday they will
co-produce up to eight movies, including remakes and other projects
that would mine MGM's huge film library. The first two films planned
are "Cold Mountain," based on the best-selling novel about a wounded
Confederate soldier's journey home during the Civil War, and a remake
of "Harvey," the Jimmy Stewart classic about a simple-minded man
whose best friend is a giant rabbit only he can see. Miramax actually
has remake rights to "Harvey," but the other six films would come
from MGM's archives, said Chris McGurk, MGM vice chairman. "Those
movies could be remakes, sequels or reinterpretations of old films,"
McGurk said. MGM's library includes about 5,000 films and 8,000 hours
of television programming.
The deal will allow MGM, which has produced a string of
disappointments including "The Mod Squad" and "Carrie 2: The Rage,"
to tie into Miramax's box-office success, said MGM spokesman Craig
Parsons. Recent Miramax hits include "Shakespeare in Love," "Life Is
Beautiful" and "Good Will Hunting." Through June 27, Miramax was
sixth among U.S. studios in box-office revenue, taking in $241
million, according to ACNielsen EDI Inc., which tracks ticket sales.
MGM was 10th with $63.6 million. Under the deal, MGM and Miramax each
would distribute four of the films domestically and four overseas.

Will Smith's latest would-be blockbuster film Wild Wild West opened on
June 30 to harsh reviews from critics. Reviewers are panning the
Western science fantasy flick--an adaptation of the 1960s TV series of
the same name--for its low humor, dull script and heavy reliance on
special effects.
Variety's Tod McCarthy said of the film, "Some very talented people
stub their collective toes quite elaborately and expensively in Wild
Wild West." Los Angeles Times critic Kenneth Turan said the film is "as
clumsy and top-heavy as the 80-foot-high mechanical tarantula that is
its prize special effect."
Worse still, at a budget that's reportedly in excess of $160 million,
Wild Wild West will have to really wow folks down home on the ranch if
it hopes to make any money this summer. In the film's favor is the fact
that West star Will Smith is known for making big bucks at the box
office with effects-laden movies like Independence Day and Men in
Black.

Twentieth Century Fox has told theaters in the United Kingdom that they
can't run screenings of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in 24-hour
marathon sessions. According to Variety, three U.K. theater chains had
obtained permission from local authorities to show the film around the
clock.
However, Variety says Fox and LucasFilm are afraid that the early
morning showings will not sell out, so they nixed the idea. The
theaters are still planning to begin showing The Phantom Menace at
12:01 a.m. on July 15, the film's opening day in England.

Three Wisconsin men who stole a 35mm print of Star Wars: Episode I -
The Phantom Menace have been sentenced to five days in jail, according
to E! Online. The men reportedly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft
for snatching the 40-pound Phantom reel off a projector at the State
Theater in Menomonie, Wis., on May 22.
In addition to the jail time, the men were fined $7,400, and they will
each have to serve 20 hours of community service. They were also placed
on probation for two years.
The $7,400 will be given to the theater owner as compensation for the
screenings that had to be canceled due to the loss of the film. A
fourth man who was allegedly involved in the theft will be sentenced on
July 12.

Screenwriter Bill Wisher has been hired to pen a new version of the oft-delayed
Warner Bros. film Superman, according to Variety. The deal may
be a sign that Warner is finally getting ready to go forward with the
big-budget project, which has been grounded due to ongoing script
problems.
It's thought that Nicolas Cage is still interested in headlining the
picture, but that Tim Burton--who at one time had agreed to direct the
Man of Steel--has left the film for good. Wisher is best known to SF
fans as the man who co-wrote Terminator 2: Judgment Day with powerhouse
writer/director James Cameron.

Halle Berry has been cast as Storm and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos has been
signed to play Mystique in Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men film. Variety
reported these latest additions to the X-Men crew, which already
features Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X,
Dougray Scott as Wolverine and Anna Paquin as Rogue.
Storm is a mutant superhero who can control the weather, an ability
that allows her to perform nifty tricks like flying and hurling
lighting bolts. Mystique is an evil character who has blue skin and who
can mimic the appearance of anyone she sees.

Director Gary Fleder's 40-minute short movie Imposter was supposed to
be part of Dimension Films' anthology flick Alien Love Triangle, but
the studio thinks it's too good for that. So Dimension signed Fleder to
turn Imposter into a full-fledged feature in its own right, with
shooting scheduled to begin in November, according to The Hollywood
Reporter.
The movie stars Gary Sinise, Madeleine Stowe, Vincent D'Onofrio and
Tony Shalhoub in a story about a futuristic war between humans and an
alien race. Sinise plays a human engineer who builds a weapon that can
end the conflict, but his ingenuity sparks suspicions that he may be an
alien imposter.
Imposter was to be the second of three film segments in Alien Love
Triangle, and it's unclear now where that project stands. Director
Danny Boyle has already filmed the first segment, but plans for the
third have yet to be set.
-=> * <=-
Clint Eastwood is finalizing the cast for the upcoming film Space
Cowboys, which he will star in and direct for Warner Bros. Joining
Eastwood and his co-star Tommy Lee Jones are James Garner, James
Cromwell, Donald Sutherland, William Devane and Marcia Gaye Harden,
according to Variety.
Eastwood, Jones and Garner will play former hotshot Air Force pilots
who are recruited by NASA in their waning years to fly a critical space
shuttle mission. It seems a satellite launched back in the '60s is
causing problems, and only Eastwood's character can remedy the
situation.
However, Eastwood won't fly the mission unless NASA agrees to take
along his old pals. Shooting on the film begins later this month.
-=> * <=-
Screenwriter Jason Hightman sold an SF script called Triton to a group
of filmmakers who include Mark Canton, Akiva Goldsman, Alan Riche and
Tony Ludwig. Hightman told Variety the story is "kind of Michael
Crichton science fused with Tom Clancy military."
Not much is known about the script, other than that it centers around
the lost continent of Atlantis. Two years ago Hightman made headlines
when he sold his first script World War III to Columbia Pictures for a
deal that was potentially worth $1.3 million.
-=> * <=-
MGM executives have put John McTiernan's upcoming remake of Rollerball
on the fast track, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Nicolas Cage
has reportedly been offered the lead role.
-=> * <=-
Rumor has it that Disney's feature film version of Inspector Gadget has
been cut down to 81 minutes after the movie received negative reactions
during test screenings.

Bravo to Hollywood for making this movie! From the previews it appears to
be a run of the mill thriller - some explosions, car chases and an evil -but
no one else knows he's evil - bad guy. It does have all this but a lot more
as well - which of course I will not go into detail about because I do not
wish to ruin the movie for anyone. The performances are standard for Jeff
Bridges and Tim Robbins - which is to say that they did a great job as
usual. Joan Cusack also held her own very well. The actual photography of
the film was fun to watch with the different lighting effects and camera
angles they chose to use. Finally the music added more tension to an
already suspenseful situation. I rate it an 87% and I would be interested
in any comments from anyone else who has seen it!

that the suspense in the movie is definitely increased by the music and that
it was on of the better movies I saw in the cinema the past few months.
Also, I thought Joan Cusack did a very good job at being frightingly normal.

I appreciate it.

Cranky promised I'd only bother you with the "important stuff" so here we
go...
It's another junket weekend coming in New York. We've been confirmed for
Universal's Mystery Men, starring Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, William
H. Macy, Greg Kinnear and the artist formerly known as Pee Wee Herman <g>.
Attendees have not been confirmed, so if you have anything to ask any of
those folks, send 'em your questions via the "e-mail cranky" link on our
homepage
We're also working on the new Farrely Bros. flick, Outside Providence,
starring Alec Baldwin; Deep Blue Sea (the shark movie) which is suddenly
of greater interest due to the rumors of star Thomas Jane's casting in
Bryan Singer's X-Men flick.
And while I've got you... highly recommended and coming next week, Lake
Placid by Chicago Hope/Ally McBeal/Picket Fences creator David E. Kelley.
It's a man vs. crocodile tale, so there's the standard shocks and
occasional gore (no slice 'n' dice) but this sucker is FUNNY. Sarcasm and
Severed Heads all in one place.
Highly overrated: Blair Witch Project, which is nowhere near the "scariest
movie of all time" that the internet hype machine has called it.
Completely improv, it tanks after half an hour or so. But it was made
cheaply, so it'll make money from film student ticket buys.
Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut is being held for screening so late next
week that the critic community here in NY is almost dreading its release.
Holding a press screening two days before release is almost a sure sign
that the flick is a stinker. Looks lovely (from what little I've seen) but
looks don't count for much.

believe it ended that way!! i was really shocked and I cannot remember any
other film that the bad guy gets off 100% and the good guy dies!! I love
