  58. Francis
  59. Ford Coppolla. This is a cult classic from the early 80's.Also starring
  60. Mickey
  61. Rourke, Nick Cage,Larry Fishburne  Tom Waits and Diane Lane,Chris Penn.

  118. All though I liked Trainspotting, being a US American, I couldn't
  119. understand half the dialog due to the heavy accents (which is my problem
  120. and in no way makes it a bad movie!).  A similiar movie that I really
  121. liked, and could follow in with the dialog easier, was Drug Store
  122. Cowboy.  Matt Dilon was really good in this one (a good actor all
  123. around, BTW.  What ever happened to him??).

  219. like nearly everyone involved, in particular Francis Ford Coopla.

  243. I thought Copland was ok and Stallone was good in it.  It wasn't as
  244. good as I expected considering the massive talent onscreen.  I've
  245. always thought that Stallone was a much better actor than his movies
  246. suggested simply because he became obsessed with making gobs of
  247. money.  One only has to watch the first Rocky to see how good he
  248. really can be.  And its hard to believe the Stallone of today could
  249. write such a beautiful script as Rocky.

  251. I didn't even see Flubber but could tell from the previews that they
  252. completely missed the charm of the first film.  Everything I've heard
  253. about it only confirms my first instinct.

  255. Speaking of Wizard of Oz, has anybody heard that you can play the
  256. Pink Floyd album "Dark Side of the Moon" while watching Wizard and it
  257. all fits together?  I've never done it but have friends that swear by
  258. it.

  263. OK, my vote for most overrated film is "The Sweet Hereafter."  While
  264. enduring that film I yearned for the opportunity to do something more
  265. exciting like watch paint dry.   I'm going to rent and rewatch it
  266. though because I have to make one more effort to see what the hell
  267. everybody is so damn impressed by.

  269. I hear the Truman Show is fantastic.  I think its going to be a huge
  270. success.  If Jim Carrey can expand his already huge audience it will
  271. be very impressive.

  273. Finally, (I'm trying to do my part and keep my number of posts to a
  274. minimum but they seem to be quite long.)  I thought Drug Store Cowboy
  275. was fantastic. Matt Dillon is a very good actor that has not made
  276. acting choices based on boxoffice but has instead chosen more
  277. challenging roles.  He's not the big star he probably could have been
  278. but I respect him for that.

  280. Could everybody indicate where they are writing from?  We did that
  281. before but I think the group has changed quite a bit since then.

  303. The Eddie Murphy version of "The Nutty Professor" was a Universal Pictures release

  416. Does anyone remember the name of the movie were a very young Matt Dillon 
  417. led a pack of suburbon youths in rebellious angst?  I think it was his 
  418. first picture.  I can't remember the name of the movie but I do remember 
  419. it was very good.  The thing I remember most about it was the group of 
  420. kids finding a gun and the tension that was created by the fact that you 
  421. never knew what they might do with the gun.  Very disturbing.  I also 
  422. could relate to it from the perspective that the kids reminded me 
  423. somewhat of my own friends when I was about that age.  Does anyone 
  424. remember the name of this movie with Matt Dillon??  It may be another 
  425. one I consider for puchase in addition to "Rumble Fish".

  439. The Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com) lists "Over the Edge" (1979) as
  440. Dillon's first.  The plot summary is as follows:
  441.  
  442. New Grenada is a planned community set in the desert where there is nothing
  443. for the kids to do, save for a rec center - which closes at 6 PM.  The
  444. parents, in their zeal to attract industry to their town, have all but
  445. neglected their children. As a result, the kids begin to create their own
  446. entertainment, which involves vandalism, theft, and general hooliganism.
  447. During an incident when one of the kids brandishes an unloaded gun at town
  448. cop Ed Doberman, he is shot and killed.  When the parents gather the next
  449. night to discuss the killing and the level of lawlessness among the youth,
  450. they soon find out that their kids have had all they can take.
  451.  
  452. 118 votes on the IMDb towards this film earned it a 9.2/10 rating.

  488. I think his talents are in playing himself. Whenever he tries to act 
  489. something a bit further from these martial roles he hasn't convinced 
  490. me.

  498. see a man hanging himself in the background of the actual film - but 
  499. that UL has been proven untrue.

  544. about the remake of foreign films, I don't see anything wrong with it-
  545. especially with credit being given to the origanal. There are very few
  546. origanal ideas- even Titanic was ripped off of a natural disaster, if you
  547. choose to look at it that way- and look at how many movies come from
  548. books, etc. It seems only natural to have remakes.

  551. like so I used it as a joke for a while and just never changed it (I've

  627. I liked both Clerks and Trainspotting, but I don't think its fair to
  628. compare them- Trainspotting is a movie about addiction, Clerks was...
  629. itself. Also, I liked Mallrats- it had some really funny moments. It
  630. didn't have the same edge as Clerks or the seriousness of Chasing Amy, but
  631. it works fine as the second movie of a trilogy... hey, it's better than
  632. the Temple of Doom...
