The movie's got a great director though (if I'm not mistaken). Gus Van
Sant is wonderful. I think DiCaprio could stand to be away from the
teenage girls for a while. I think his best performance (which no teenage
girl would fawn over) was Arnie is WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE?. I also
think he should have gotten the Academy Award for this role. I think he is
really gifted. Please, please, get him away from the teenage roles and let
him be an actor!! I'm not saying that AMERICAN PSYCHO will do this for
him, but with Van Sant as the director, I'm looking foward to seeing this
film!

It was entertaining. A very interesting concept. A bit much to believe,
but fun to watch and figure out.
What I understood about the list was that it was a "movie" list. Any movie
can be discussed. Even BIRTH OF A NATION (made in 1915) if that's what I
wanted to talk about. Isn't that right?

The movie UNFORGIVEN seemed to be a controversial choice for best
picture from the very beginning. I absolutly loved it the first time I
saw it and I still do.
Who knows Westerns better then Clint Eastwood and who better to do a
re-write of the traditional western then (a great director, IMHO) Clint
Eastwood. The scene were the dying cowboy that Clint has just shot is
begging his friends to bring him water was masterful. Not just the
typical bang-shoot-your dead western violence, but a realistic look at
what happens when you shoot someone. The message (and one that I think
should be stressed in more of todays movies) is that killing is not
pretty, or glamourous, and it doesn't make a hero out of the killer, no
matter what the reason for the killing. It also had one of the best
lines in all of movie history when the young killer-for-hire wanaby says
of the cowboys that Clints character has just killed, "They had it
comming", and Clint replys, "We all got it comming, son". Also, notice
the blurred lines between the Good and Bad guys in this western, also a
huge departure from the traditional western. Many critics changed thier
minds on Unforgiven upon watching it a second time. I believe it
deserved best picture and all the rest of the praise it was given and
then some!
Just a differing opinion (I have to stick up for one of my personal
favorite movies!)

As I said before, I felt she gave one of the best acting performances of

I thought the rest of the movie was fairly mediocre. Although the special

and the soundtrack were good as well. But that's just my opinion.

To be perfectly honest. I cannot tell you much about The Game with Michael
Douglas. All I can say is that is was a great movie. Anything (Plot,
Characters,...) I say about the movie would give parts of it away. It is a
movie you can only watch once but it is worth it. I would recommend this
movie to anyone. There aren't many movies where I walk out sweating.

You mean there have been other films than Titanic and English
Patient?
The Game. I thought it was a pretty good one, a bit predictable in
its inpredictability and yes, a bit hard to believe at times but
that's nothing unusual for Hwood. It was fast and gripping and you
have to be quick to keep up with the plot.
It's a interesting deal with the devil plot, so definetely worth
watching
And now back to Titanic.

Although I believe you have a right to your own opinion, I disagree with
you completely! Titanic was clearly NOT a "made for McDonalds" movie. You
can tell that simply by how much money it has made.
Leonardo DiCaprio was absolutely brilliant in this film. He delivered an
excellent performance. He presented comedy, romance, and drama. I think
he should have gotten an Oscar nomination, and he should have won it.
Kate Wilslet did a good job too, but she didn't have to do some of the
emotional thrusts that Leo had too. I'm not saying that she was
un-emotional in the movie, because she was, but hey she survived the
'unsinkable ship'.
This was a "true romance", in the sense that Jack (Leo) made
life-threatening sacrifices. So did Rose (Kate) ,like the part where she
jumps back on the ship. That showed true love.
Titanic had its faults, but those faults were very few. I think it is one
of the best movies ever made!
- -Tonya
If you want a really romantic film, check out Romeo & Juliet (the newer
version). The words are beautiful by themselves! Although this movie
didn't get appraised as much as other romantic films, it certainly is a
solid and timeless story line with TRUE and ABSOLUTE love.

The Game is a really good movie. I rented it with a friend and we both
loved it. I only watched it once, because it was so 'roller coaster-ish'.
It isn't a film where you can watch it again right after you've watched it
for the first time. It really is a fast movie, it takes your breathe away.
It is a little hard to believe, but interesting in the sense that you can
think that what happends MIGHT or COULD happen in real life. I give this
movie 4 stars (out of 4)!

that Van Sant is directing the re-make of PSYCHO. My husband told me

Fascinating. I thought it was one of the best movies to be made, that did
not win any awards. (Another recent one was Cop Land).
Then again, I am a huge Luc Besson fan. I could watch La Femme Nikita
anytime. (and because of this, cannot stand Point of No Return). The
Professional (released outside of North America as Leon) was another classic.
Good question for the list. What do you think about Hollywood ripping off
other countries movies?? (You can tell my thoughts by the way that I
worded that. Don't let that colour your opinion. I'd like to see someone
that can defend this practice)> I mean, To Wong Foo was such a blatent
rip-off of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Waterworld was almost scene for
scene The Road Warrior. (Replace sand for water, and you have the kid, the
fort, the plane, the fight for fuel, just about everything). Those are my
Big Three, although I have come across others.
Any comments??

The Game with Michael Douglas was one of the best movies I have watched in
a long time. Unfortunately, the plot is so mysterious and intense that if
I told you anything about it... I might give something away. But believe
me... I walked out of that movie with a sweat.

Not too bad of a movie actually. Kinda slow in the middle but was fairly
entertaining and also slightly thought provoking. Basically a senator
wants himself dead by the end of the weekend so he has hired himself a
hitman to do the job - he just doesn't know when. This weekend also
happens to be the election weekend and he is always on the go to different
functions and events. With his new found dislike for life - he tires of
the speeches and starts telling it like it is - which is offensive at first
- - but then people begin to understand the truths that he speaks. I enjoyed
it - but there were a lot of racial stereotypes in it - but that was
something of the point that they were going for...I geuss I'd give 'er a
72%. See it if you like politics or Warren Beatty (I geuss!)
