You're right! The soundtrack is 5 stars! One of the best movie soundtracks
ever!
David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails etc.
This soundtrack rocks!!! Mixed in with mood music. What a movie soundtrack
should be.

Oh yes, I think that statement is getting close to it. I mean, when you
watch the movie, you indeed get the idea that the director, wether it
was Lynch himself or not, wanted the movie to be confusing into
extremes. When you watch it several times, you will distinct something
in the story from the rest, and each time you will think different of
the film. I would say that there is no clear "message" or whatever
behind it, because the director hardly knew what he was doing.

Right. I don't even know why the title was "Lost Highway" (I sort of
expected a road movie). Maybe because it leads directly from the
beginning to the end, but you get lost on the way.
So it makes you think, but about nothing special.

Down, way down, down the drain...
I've seen better special effects, the story resembled the one of "The
Relic", which I also do not like etc.
"The Fly" is way better.

I don't know if I totally agree with you. The film itself ( An aside- You
would realize that Bruce was responding to my request to watch the film,
but that happened before you joined the list, by the way, I too think it
was a great movie and until recently I couldn't find anyone to agree with
me on that. So thanks...) is fairly clear to me. I think maybe David Lynch
tried too hard to be mystical and surreal with this one, though. I don't
think repeated viewings distort or change anything for me, maybe just
refine the viewers understanding of the film. It's all about
interpretation. Three people will watch it and see three different things.
But I think the main message is that this is a vision of hell. Lynch shows
this by what happens to Pullman in the movie. A lot of
>what happens to him and Getty( as well) was out of their control. But you
>know that something he has done in his past life has caused this to happen

This is a living, changing view of hell. Which is no so much a place as a

Well, one thing's for sure; i thought an awful lot about Patricia Arquette . .

And that's pretty special, if you ask me.

Hi
Did you know that The Beatles recorded Besame Mucho as a single. It was
recorded in England on 1 January 1962. I have the picture sleeve single of
it.
There have been many releases of it. It's been a popular song amongst the
Italian community here in Melbourne.
Unfortunately, I don't have the English translation for it.

I have to disagree on what seems to be general opinion here. I liked the
underground gothic atmosphere created in the Grand Central Station tunnels.
It reminded my of older 'B' type horror movies. I also thought the movie
was supenseful enough to keep my interest. Another monster movie I liked
for many of the same reasons, but which wasn't reviewed to well, was last
years Anaconda. It reminded me so much of the 'Creature from the Black
Lagoon'. Give me the old time look and feel of a monster movie with some
updated special effects anyday! Monster movies like Starship Troopers and
Lost In Space you can just toss in the trash!

The Quick and the Dead took every silly spaghetti western and turned it into a
cool Sam Raimi directed fun-filled fest. With his peculiar camera angles and
camera tricks, the film is worth watching just for that.
Then, of course, Gene Hackman is always as cool as ice. I always thought he
should have been able to kick Clint's ass in "Unforgiven" That's where the
movie lost all credibility for me. Now, as far as versatility, i don't know,
but he is good nonetheless.

Gene Hackman is also one of my favorites. He was great in Crimson Tide and
Unforgiven. I have mixed feelings for Sharon Stone. She was at her best in
Casino, but Last Dance and Diabolique were awful.
My favorite actor and actress would have to be Gary Oldman and Julia
Ormond. The Professional is a must see, Oldman is terrific. I have yet to
see a movie with Julia Ormond that I have not enjoyed. Smila's Sense of
Snow, Sabrina, Legends of the Fall, and Captives are all great movies.

Favourite actors/actresses i would have to say are:
Kevin Kline: brilliant from Shakespeare (Midsummer Night's Dream) to musical
(Pirates of Penzance) to comedic (In & Out) to Dramatic (Ice Storm) the man is
a veritable actor of actors.
Goldie Hawn: cute, funny, and knows how to have a great time making a movie.
Everyone of her movies is so fun to watch.
Vincent D'Onofrio: now that's versatility Excellent performances include
Feeling Minnesota & Men In Black. The man is going places!
Meg Ryan: I always enjoy women in comedic roles; because they're too often
type-caste being whiny miserable nagging, cry-baby, wenches whom i care very
little about. (please diregard "When a Man Loves a Woman). But Meg in Joe vs
the Volcanoe was just perfect. Underated movie by the by. She was also
incredible in the new City of Angels flick. Bravo, Meg!
Nicholas Cage: As peculiar and unpredictable a personality as you can figure.
His perspectives on acting are just so original, i can't praise his talent
enough. However, i would like to make a disclaimer about City of Angels that
he was tired and hadn't finished reading the script, i'm sure, when they began
filming. Can't tell you what happened. Sorry, Nick.
Mary Stuart Masterson: She's just so lovely to watch. She has the flair and
bravada of a queen. I just wish i knew where she was. Last i saw, she had a
small part in the Postman (no snide comments please) and did a TV Chrismas
movie on Lifetime. But i could watch Benny & Joon a million times.
Liam Neeson: He has got to be one of the most intuitively sensitive actors out
there. You can see every emotion he feels without him saying a word. A
brilliant actor. It is such a shame that so few actors or actresses have the
same intensity to match him on screen. In "Before & After'" even Meryl Streep
seemed a little flustered to be working with such class A acting. I can't
wait to see Les Miserables.
Madonna: Hopefully she's got her rebellious, i-wanna-show-you-i'm-all-about-
sex phase over with and she'll finally be doing some more movies with the
calibre of Evita. I know she can act; she just has to get over her
immaturity. Do it for Lourdes, Ma.
Robin Williams: such an underated actor. Just as Tom Hanks was and probably
still is. i am thrilled for Robin's Oscar win. He deserves it not only for
Good Will Hunting but for every other incredible performance he's done over
the last 25 years. He should win a lifetime achievement award for the works
he's done. From "Good Morning Vietnam" to "Mrs. Doubtfire" he's been nothing
short of astounding.
Mercedes Ruehl: She's like fire when she's on screen. Burning coals in Lost
in Yonkers, a towering inferno in Fisher King. Amazing talent.
I'd also like to add that Terry Gilliam is my favourite director. Having come
from the pits of Monty Python, and directing those films, he's done some of
the most creative directing and creative films to date. 12 Monkeys, Brazil,
Baron Muenchausen, Time Bandits, Fisher King, and the much anticipated (by me)
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

I too am anticipating Fear & Loathing.
I'm also a big fan of Johnny Depp's work.Thought he was great in Benny &
Joon and even better in Gilbert Grape!
Speaking of versatility certainly he has that. Also like Kenneth Branagh an
awful lot. He was great in Triplecross and Doublecross, two very underrated
made for tv movies. Also like Robert Blake, he's like an honest cigar
always gives you your money worth. And wanna mention Matthew McConaughey(A
Time to Kill) too.
Other actresses I admire include Patricia and Roseanna Arquette, Tia
Carrere not just because she's beautiful: she does a cool woman of style
better than anyone alive. I think highly of Jennifer Aniston's potential
and Julia Roberts work too. Think Jennifer Tilly gets not enough credit
(DId anyone see her in the intense Bound???) And let's not forget the
underrated Annabella Sciorra and Linda Fiorentino. I also like Liv Tyler,
Parker Posey and think
Angeline Jolie(Gia) is talented as well. Looking for big things from her
in the near future. Paige Turico from Party of Five is lovely and can flat
out act! I know this is the movies list, but I just had to say that!!!
