As much as I love Moby, I don't want to give peronal data to VH1 just to be
able to vote for him, sorry.
By the way, to be honest, the video for Southside is pretty good, but not
the best, and the collaboration with Gwen was cool, but not that impressive
to be called the best.. But Moby still is my favorite male (musically
speaking of course, hehe :), although Maxi Jazz from Faithless comes close
too... Am I the only one who thinks Muhammad Ali is shit? And I'm not a
person who only likes Faithless for the dance music, Reverence is one of
their best tracks, Bring My Family Back too, but the most recent single
doesn't do anything for me, pity. Oh oh I'm drifting off topic, sorry 'bout
that :)

You lucky b... :) I also have the interview cd, but had to pay $$$ for
it... It seems there were not as much Play interview CDs made as interview
CDs for EIW and AR. The last two are also pretty rare nowadays by the way,
but I got them both pretty cheap a couple of years ago. I also have a lot of
exciting moby stuff on the way, I could tell you guys about it when I get
it, but then again, who's interested...

To be honest I didn't like the latest album much at all. I loved the
previous two and yes, I agree Muhammad Ali is shit...
As for Moby (to bring it back to topic), I also thought the Mo/Stefani
version of Southside was shit... so I doubt I'll be voting this time.

how can you say that! it was so wonderfully re-worked, i mean, it's not
like some artists where they'll just slap a new track on there. the way
they totally re-did the whole structure of the song was amazing! moby and
gwen must of spent weeks in the studio getting their harmonies to match so
perfectly! it's the best song ever! well, maybe second to porcelain.

Some of you have probably noticed there is a CD out called "All Star
Tribute - What's going on" with a brand new Moby remix on it! Has anybody
heard it yet or has anybody bought the CD yet? I would be very interested in
some discography info :) There are as far as I know 2 versions of this CD
with the Moby remix on it, a US and a European one.
I'm planning on buying the CD myself, but I'm a little short on money at the
moment (I have a nasty eBay habit :), so I was wondering if someone could
upload this track to my Mobility ftp:
ftp://mobility:the_best_mailinglist@mobyfan.dhs.org The "Thanks 2" tracks
are also located there.

on which version of play is this song? ::smile::
don't take that seriously. on a different note,
it's funny how most people won't realize there
was a 'non-gwen' version of that tune after v2
replaced the song on play.
still waiting for the leather bound version.

can't believe V2 just replaced the original, in all of its shimmering, rough
edged, buzz saw glory, with the shiny, sexless celebrity version!!
Here's a marketing idea for V2 - how about reissuing the album with the
tracks in reverse. The cover shot could be Moby lying under the debris of
the broken bed, the title could be 'Yalp' and - this would be the genius bit
- - it could come with a limited edition second album of people like Sting,
Phil Collins and Elton John doing covers of their favorite tracks from
'Play'. The cover would be of every one jumping on a giant bed in the
grounds of one of Elton's mansions. It could be called 'Over Play'. And
then, for a very limited time it could also come with a CD of versions
recorded by the female singers that Moby has tried chatting up. Obviously
this would be called 'ForePlay' and would have a picture of Moby in the bed
- - alone. Finally there could be hip hop version called 'Play-az' and....
I've got to get a new job.
Seriously though, I still love Play, but it just amazes me how blatant
record company rip off machines are these days. But surely the artist can
say 'no' at some point. Surely someone has to say 'no' at some point. Would
that be down to us, the fans - the consumers... or is this all we have to
look forward to. Reissues, best of compilations, and more reissues with
added tracks. Hang on a minute... a quick look at this weeks music press
would suggest that 'yes' this is all we have to look forward to.
So, has anyone else got any marketing suggestions for the re-re-reissue of
Play? I'm sure the folk at the label are so bankrupt for ideas that we could
help a little. Or are they all more interested in closing down mark's site?
It's good to talk

I've got the promo of the UK version. Called 'Moby's Version' it clock's in
at 4:36, features typically Moby strings (quite raw), minor chords, hip hop
break, sounds like a version of a track from "I Like to Score'... can't put
my finger on which one yet. I'll get back to you on this. Its sooo Moby
though.

Blah! How can you even say that in joke!? Ick!
As for the video, I thought it was a horribly failed
attempt to poke fun at - whatever they were poking fun
at (themselves? image? selling out? why is gwen
there then?). Even if it was a successful satire, it
would still be a terribly sad to bring up on MTV of

Isn't it pathetic...
Once a hidden gem like Moby actually begins to get any sort of
recognition he deserve there is a backlash
Sold out I hear you cry... What do you expect Moby to do? He is in the
business to make money everyone is. As long as the songs keep coming I
don't care where I hear them, it still runs a chill down my spine when I
hear a Moby song in an advert or movie, am I the only one who likes to
be caught unawares by his greatness? Albeit it is an advert or a movie
but I have to work for a living and I cant spend all day listening to
the one artiste that I would like to (I know that seems sad but that is
life. I have probably spent enough money on Moby over the last 10 years
that a lot of you put together but that in it self does not make me a
better fan, it does not make me a worthy fan. I could argue all night
with friends who just don't get Moby but I only do that for fun I know I
am never going to convert them (for want of a better word) to just how
much I enjoy listening to Moby how his music touches my soul, how
hearing just the tiniest snippet of a song can brightening up my day how
there are so many times I have cried and laughed to music I could go on
to tell you how I played now I let it go at my grandmas funeral how at
my birthday I always play thousand just because it is my night and I can
;-) and there are so many occasions where Moby's music is just
integrated into my soul it just feels so natural.
I hope Moby goes on to get as much recognition he deserves and then
some...

here's a couple more for the record companies to try out...
random play - highly priced limited edition per version copies of play
with the tracks in various orders. (see how many of the 6 quadrillion
(6.402373705728e+15 as i calculate it) song order combinations you can
own copies of!) each cover could be randomly picked from moby's photo
shoots of the past 2 years.
play on words - album of spoofs of songs on play by the likes of wierd al
yankovich. the cover for this one could be wierd al jumping on moby.
overplay - tracks: porcelain, southside w/ gwen, bodyrock, southside w/
gwen, porcelain, porcelain, southside w/ gwen, porcelain, southside w/
gwen, southside w/ gwen, porcelain, bodyrock, southside w/ gwen, and as a
special bonus, natural blues, natural blues, and natural blues. the cover
could be a grid of little red play triangles
...welp, that's what i just came up with offhand.
hope all you mobilites are hanging in there.
cheers,
-mark
