Pretty impressive huh? I want to take this opportunity to say a big THANK
YOU to Mark too, I know he's been trying to make this happen a long time,
and finally it's there! Whoohoo, the discography finally is searchable.
(don't worry, there will always be the regular .txt version) but it's so
convenient if you are shopping online and you quickly want to know what
title is on which release :)

Hmmmm... This question from an AOL email? Suprisin'. I just couldn't
resist.
Just to remind everyone, the original Mobility FTP server can still be found
at,
ftp://129.93.210.162
Anonymous login allowed, check out the .xls file for a full list of files
available (not all are directly accessible but upon request given files will
be made available).

Hi,
do you mean the .mdb file or is there a .xls hidden in one of the subdirs ...?
;-) Actually, I've got no program to read the .mdb file, do you also have a
plain text version?

okay, to clear this up,
the mobymusic search is at http://www.mobymusic.com/search/
the ftp that cmb's talking about doesn't really have anything to do with
it.
as for the database file, you don't access it directly, you use the search
interface tem and i put together. if you've got a halfway-capable web
browser, yer all set (having a realaudio player helps too, but you don't
have to listen to anything if you don't want, tho there's some 63 hours
worth of audio. yes, that's right, 3 hours.
cheers,
-mark (admin, mobymusic.com)

sorry, you were right, its an .mdb file (microsoft database) you need
Microsoft Access or MS Office to view it. Sorry, I don't have a plain text
as of now, I'll see what I can do though. Actually, you can pretty much
look at the discography itself. I estimated that I have over 90% of his
entire catalog, so its a pretty good bet that I have something. If not
simply request it to the list and I'm sure SOMEONE can help.
Oh yeah, I forgot, a lot of the multimedia, videos, interviews, and even
Live Performances are not included in the .mdb file. I'll see if I can get
a directory tree map of the CDs I have and post those instead.
Regardless, there's still some good stuff up there right now, so check it
out everyone.
Chris.
ps, Mark is right, the Mobility FTP that I host is completely different from
the mobymusic.com domain he administors--I just thought I'd post a friendly
reminder. The FTP has actually been up for almost what, 2 years now? minus
a 4 month stint when i was studying abroad. Anyway, in the beginning there
were MAJOR contributions, but recently, like the traffic flow on the list
itself, accesses have gone down quite a bit.

Subject: Re: (mobility) How many =?iso-8859-1?q?members=3F?= / =?iso-8859-1?q?Kev=3F?=
Hi guys,
The mailing list currently has 331 members (190 non-digest / 141
digest). I can't remember how high that number has reached in the
past but I'm surprised that the level of subscribers hasn't dropped
that much, especially since the amount of email being sent has reduced
significantly. I think the volume of emails was reduced when moby.org
started up. At the time this mailing list was Moby's best outlet for
responding on a personal basis as to what he was up to and thinking.
Sadly, I haven't kept in touch like I should.
My internet provider is introducing a new option for running mailing
lists, it's called Mailman. Has anyone had experience with this?
What is your opinion of it if so. My understanding is that it adds a
web based method for participating, and as an owner, administrating
the mailing list. If it proves to be a positive tool or forum for
mailing lists I may switch things over. I image this is still several
months away from happening, if at all.
Also, Kev <kmnw14954@blueyonder.co.uk>... you said you were having a
problem with unsubscribing from the non-digest version of Mobility now
that you have the digest version. Has that been resolved? If not,
what email addresses have you used in dealing with Mobility? Please
respond directly to my email address at Damian@xmission.com or
owner-mobility@lists.xmission.com - Thanks and sorry about the delayed
response.
Take care,
Damian.

oi there mobilites,
was wondering if any of you out there had either of the feeling so real
10"s (especially the soapbar release) and would let us (me and bart) know
what the etchings around the labels say, and the label colors and what
sleve it came in. we're trying to do a little deductive reasoning about
these releases.
as close as we can tell at this point, there were 3 versions of the mute
10", the first got released, the second got ditched, the third got
liscenced to soapbar, and went through at least 3 pressings, one or more
of which may of been promos. all we've encountered so far are purple on
one side and black on the other, tho it varies which is the printed a-side
and blank b-side by pressing...
http://www.mobymusic.com/search/search2.php?text=10&specify=format
has the ones i've sorted out so far listed towards the top...
so yeah, any extra info would help us mobymusic detectives out. :)
cheers,
-mark (admin, mobymusic.com)
