I believe the record is used to control queuing and pitch. There's
some sort of tracking noise on the vinyl that is played into the
computer which scratches and changes the pitch of the mp3. I believe
it runs on Be OS.

You can actually go to the Final Scratch website and there you can find out
information on how it all works. So here is the website
www.finalscratch.com
They even mention Richie Hawtin and Aquaviva. Check it out.

Yeah that explanation clarified it and it makes sense that the use of FinalScratch requres special vinyls. I was curious about BeOS and it's kind of cool because you don't have to partition or dual boot. It just starts with a boot floppy. The hardware specifications are a little strict (for networking) but the apps on it are pretty cool.

Go to www.spiritualized.com, click on "music".
Their soon to be released album "Let It Come Down" can be heard there (only for today, or so I've been told). But I was also told that it would only be played at 2 & 7 pm (Eastern time), but 2 songs are available at the moment ("Out of Sight" sounds alright, rough-bluesy; "Stop Your Crying" isn't my cup of tea).
Chemical Brothers have a new single "It Began in Afrika" coming out on Tuesday, though the album isn't till early 2002 (am I the only one STILL creeped out at typing 20-anything? No more 19--).
And what's up with Dave Navarro marrying Carmen Electra next year?..it makes odd sense, but ugh...
Sorry this email is not Moby related...
Happy that the Avalanches are coming to the US soon,

Moby won?! I know they'll probably replay the awards the whole weekend, but in case I miss it anyway:
What did he say?
What did he win for?
What did he wear?
Thanks...
Still disappointed that Moby didn't wear an onion costume to the 2000 Grammys like he said he would,

Ok i'm rewriting this because my cat just walked over the keyboard and deleted the whole thing......
He wore a red shirt and jeans. After they announced Moby as the winner he walked up onto the stage with one hand in his pocket. He was talking about how he wasn't prepared to win and peeled a sticker off of the podium and held it up and said that it said something about not leaning on the podium. Then he thanked the director of the video because the video was his idea and then said that he wasn't good looking so he thanked Gwen and the camera showed her smiling in the audience.
He won the Best male video.
Missy Elliot's performance was pretty interesting...she came down in a gold space suit looking outfit and there was a huge, huge sculpture of a face in the background. The mouth opened, a carpet rolled out and out came Nelly Furtado. I guess you have to see it to understand what I'm saying. She sang a little and ran off the stage.
Ok..I hope this made a little bit of sense: )lol.
Good night,
Sharmila

What about Michael Jackson doing a jig with N'Sync - that was pretty kick ass.
N'Sync are little bitches. No thank you at all to BT for his production
magic on Pop.

I missed the Michael Jackson and Nsync gig. That's a pairing. I thought it was wierd when i was watching some mtv interview with Nsync and one of them was saying that the song was a statement about Pop music or Pop culture and he was insinuating that Nsync was not a part of that. Oh well...
Hey did anyone see the Romeo video by Basement jaxx on launch.com? I'm not biased or anything because I'm Indian. Ok maybe I am.
I had too much espresso and I'm listening to Salad Days and I should really be sleeping.
Good night,
